the goldcrests; adamanta and eilian

adamanta and eilian were the mother and father of eadric spinebreaker. not much is known about their lives, and very little about their deaths. eilian endeavored to construct an artifact to enhance his magical abilities and in doing so was cursed. the circumstances and effects of the curse remain unknown, but it was most likely painful and connected to facial markings that appeared on its bearers face. years later his grandson elyris and great grandson aegar would attempt to create their own version, eventually leading up to the crown of might. eilian was killed when eadric was very young, most likely due to the curse that plagued him. adamanta on the other hand, lived and supported her son's conquest of the wizarding world. she held a seat of power at the family's castle and supplied the beginning stages of the goldcrest rebellion. adamanta did not get along with her daughter-in-law, vela the blood-witch and disapproved of her methods. she died under mysterious circumstances a year before her son. many believed it was vela's doing, but there was no proof either way.

Adamanta, a young woman who has lived apart from the futuristic technological society, crosses the path of Project Pi, an artificial intelligence that undertakes the task of helping her connect with her world. However, a group of individuals show an interest in regaining control over this AI. Now, the responsibility falls on Adamanta's shoulders to rediscover her surroundings and unravel the truth behind the people who persecute her.

A young woman who has lived isolated from the world due to the fear that the technological environment generated in her. Her fear originated when, at age 8, she witnessed a technical failure in the company of her father, who lost his life while saving her from a gas leak in the facility.

One day, while exploring the attic where her father used to work, she discovers a flat device with a screen. When she turns it on, a virtual girl greets her and promises to be her partner in seeking information about her new presence in her life.

An artificial intelligence created by the company InHome to be the virtual companion of its users. However, a failure in the company's facilities led to the closure of any access to this technology permanently.

Somehow, the artificial intelligence managed to escape from the facilities and remained hidden in a mobile device, which is later found by Adamanta.

Name: Eaquil Age: 58 years old Height: 185 cm Gender: Male

CEO and head of the InHome company. As soon as he finds out about Project Pi's escape, he begins his search for this technology until he finds Adamanta. His main motivation is to regain control of the artificial intelligence to carry out new experiments and projects with her.

Name: Raha Age: 35 years old (deceased) Height: 175 cm Gender: Male

Adamanta's father. He was a former employee and renowned scientist at InHome until his death during the accident at the facility while testing Project Pi and her limits.

Name: Umu Age: 35 years old Height: 179 cm Gender: Female

Adamanta's relative who keeps her at home and informs her about what is happening outside, also respecting her decision to lock herself at home. When Adamanta escapes from home, her mother remains worried until InHome employees calm her down by informing her that her daughter is with them.

#Bagginshieldtober Day 7: Consort

My second fic for #Bagginshieldtober! The prompts were created by the lovely @smolestboop, and I am super excited to challenge myself to write stories based on these prompts!

Each prompt I write a fic for is all part of the same series and storyline, so I'm very excited to share the story with you as the month goes on! Anyways, here it is....day 7!

Fic: Consort

Word count: 1,991

Summary: Thorin has grown to be very happy in Shire. And comfortable. Adamanta, the Thain's wife, and Bilbo's grandmother, see's just how good Thorin is for the Shire, and asks him a rather unexpected question.

ps: has AO3 been a pain for anyone else lately, or is it just me? I had to edit and update this fic several times because it kept erasing what I wrote for the beginning of the summary, and authors notes, and the first sentence of the fic, over and over again....I think I have it fixed now...but that was incredibly frustrating. Anyone else deal with this?

Summary: When she finds a wounded stranger lying in a field just beyond the Shire’s boarders, headstrong and willful Belladonna Took thinks nothing of taking him in and helping him. Although she has heard of the dwarves of Erebor, she’s never met one. Until now. 

Frerin has little memory of the blow that felled him, or of how he came to be where Belladonna found him. All he knows is he needs to return to Erebor as soon as possible to let his family know he is alive and well. If only he could convince his warden—er—caretaker that he is well enough to travel.

Neither one of them envisioned a scenario where he wouldn’t want to leave the Shire, or Belladonna. Especially when they’re both convinced they do not belong in the other’s world.

was looking up frodo’s family tree in the apendices to find out how closely related his parents are* and my family all accused me of being a nerd

notes that i think i’ve put there:

balbo baggins married berylla boffin and has 5 kids, one of whom is mungo baggins. he marries laura grubb and has 5 kids, one of him is bungo baggins. bungo marries belladonna took and has bilbo.

meanwhile, largo baggins (one of mungo’s siblings) marries tanta hornblower and has some kid (fosco baggins who marries ruby bolger) and then those two have 3 kids, dora, drogo, and dudo. drogo baggins marries primula brandybuck and they have frodo.

meanwhile on frodo’s mom’s side:

gerotnius, the old took,marries adamanta chubb, who has a gazillion kids, the relevant ones being hildigrim took (marries rosa baggins), belladonna took (marries bungo baggins, bilbo’s dad), and mirabell took (marries gorbadoc brandybuck). Mirabella and gorbadoc have 7 kids, primula marries drogo and has frodo.

so primula’s mom was a sister to belladonna, bilbo’s mom. and drogo was a grandkid to largo, mungo (bilbo’s grandfather’s) brother. but it looks like primula and drogo are only genetically related to bilbo and not to each other

*because the hobbits were gossiping about his parents, granted more of they found it scandalous that his mom was a brandybuck than that his mom and dad were first cousin and second cousin to bilbo respectively

 Hobbits have secrets. A lot of secrets and some of them only a few knew. Bilbo knew this well. His first time returning from an adventure, from Erebor he found himself dragged off by the Clerics who sat him down and interrogated him. They asked him question after question, demanded answers for everything. And in the end, they discovered some secrets were kept from Bilbo. 

 “Why were you never told of Ciran?” the head Cleric demanded. “Your father stated he told you!”

 “I don’t know.” Bilbo told her. “What is Ciran?” Yet they would not answer. Instead they shook their heads and whispered. They looked at him with pain in their eyes and each told him they were sorry. 

 Bilbo never quite got an answer out of them. Though he found his feet walking to their smials and their halls often. Some Clerics would sob upon seeing him. Others would scurry away. A few though spoke with him.

 “Your aunt almost was one of us,” Cleric Honeysuckle told him one day while she tended the healing garden. It was three years before Bilbo would become the guardian for Frodo and he’d wandered over to see if they would be willing to talk. Honeysuckle put him to work braiding rope for some of the plants. 

 “My aunt?” Bilbo asked. “Which one?” Hilidgard? She died before her majority after all, it would make sense. 

 “No.” Honeysuckle shook her head. “Ruby Chubb.”

 “Aunt Ruby?” Bilbo asked as he felt a sharp pang in his heart. It was not the first nor would it be the last time he wished he’d told his dwarves of his great-grandmother, Rose Chubb who found her Heart Match in a Darrowdam. Who laid with her love in her garden and through that love had three daughters grow. Ruby, Daisy and Adamanta. 

 He liked to think they’d hear how Hobbits had children and would understand why they kept it secret. Men were strange and attacked those they felt were different. Bilbo also liked to think that they would find the ending to the story just as sad, for one day Rose awoke and said to her daughters that their other mother died bearing a brother for them. She passed minutes after, unable to live with her Heart Match gone.

Biography: The Egyptian God Cards are a powerful trio, but they can combine together in order to make one final force against the darkness that attempts to engulf all in the Duelscape with its corrupting influence.

Enter the Lady of Creation known as Holactie, who entrusts the safety of herself and her components to select divine beings, including today's entry, Adamanta the Sacred, also known as the Ancient Sacred Wyvern.

After the exile of the Egyptian Gods, he and Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon chose to work in secret over the Duelscape, waiting for the proper time should the Gods be needed again.

He's currently the only Fairy on the Dragonian Senate, and the only Dragon-like being to serve as a commander in the Star Squad. Specifically, he works in Squad Mu, a special unit for particularly dangerous battles that require much of the Fairy Kingdom's energy.

WOE Characters

Jeeze I dunno why I let time slip away from me the past couple weeks. Let me breathe some life back into my quiet little blog with some updated character art and stuff about Reina Adamanta, the other major protagonist of WOE! (See the Ixis post here!)

Reina is the princess of Adamantia, daughter of King Gerald Adamanta and the late Queen Dyna Adamanta. Naturally energetic and adventurous since childhood, Reina has always dreamt of a life of excitement contrary to her pampered upbringing. She enjoys watching knights and soldiers spar in the training hall, often wondering if she could ever take up a sword for sport or adventure herself.

Befriending Ixis at a young age, she had to learn to be calm and gentle to not overwhelm the timid Etherean. Even in adulthood she sometimes struggles to restrain her excitable nature, but Ixis grew accustomed to and even fond of it over time.

(I'll talk more about writing and stuff after the keep reading break, but juuust in case anyone is new to WOE reading these, be forewarned; it will contain a couple spoilers.)

I know I've talked about this a few times already, but I've tried to change things up a lot more with Reina compared to Ixis in the new version of WOE. Primarily thanks to the people I got feedback from back when I was building the new foundation for the comic.

She had a weird evolution as I worked on the original WOE over the years. Like Ixis she was based on ideas I had toyed with since middleschool, but unlike Ixis she had a lot more issues that I tried and failed to iron out as things went on, overcompensating for tropes and shortfalls in ways that largely backfired.

She got a lot of criticism when I sought feedback for the remake. I'm not sure how well I have been able to and will be able to incorporate the feedback, but I'm trying my best to make her a more enjoyable character.

She'll still be held captive in chapter 3, but I think this time around I'll be able to do a much better job of showing both strength and courage as well as fear and vulnerability. I want the "damsel in distress" trope to be a moment of revelation and growth for her, rather than just something that happens because of my derivative writing. It was always meant to plant the seeds of her taking steps to make her adventurous daydreams into strength in reality, but I'm hoping it'll feel more natural this time.

I've been trying to include more character building for both Reina and the relationship between her and Ixis earlier in the story this time as well. She has moments of awkwardness trying to reconnect with Ixis. She acknowledges her spoiled upbringing and wants to be responsible despite her instinctive desire for a casual adventurous life. The romance between her and Ixis will be more mutually-blossoming compared to her forwardness in the original. Their childhood friendship is explored and shown more, rather than just loosely mentioned.

The connection between Reina and Ixis plays such a huge part in WOE's story, I want readers to care about them both. Who knows if I'll do a good job, but all I can do is try!
