oh btw if anyone's wondering on my thoughts about the whole... Natlan thing:

yeah I'm pretty damn disappointed with hoyo for the colorism in the design here. Not to mention the localized english butchering the original names of the Natlan characters, and the only characters that seems to have a semblance of having dark skin (Iansan) not only has an ash-y tone, but also only had around 1 second of screentime. Have I mentioned that only enemies and certain NPCS get the diversity? It's there since Sumeru but man. cmon hoyo.

I won't go in further detail on this since I'm not in the position to fully judge about the representation since I'm not in the demographic that's affected by this, but as a person of color, the colorism is still very disappointing (albeit unsurprising).

I recommend everyone to voice their disappointment on their feedback forms and emails so HOPEFULLY they fix this shit.

(also out of curiosity I compared Iansan's skin color to mine and the only difference is the saturation. I barely get sunlight per day. wtf)

#caluutalks #for additional context: I'm from SEA. so yeah.#I already don't spend on the game for unrelated reasons but this really solidifies it. with now extending to official merch as well.#Also it probably comes from the higher execs side too since the designs def seem like they were designed with tan/dark skin tone in mind.#It's not even a preference thing because it just looks better. The colors don't feel as cluttered or messy when you give them melanin. wild #That and Wriothesley's first concept arts having tan/brown skin but gets more white as it approaches the final design sjhduhdi #Oh yeah and NO it's not them appeasing the CN side bc they're also upset. everyone is upset at this.#and other cn based companies can give their characters melanin as well so. yeah.#I genuinely hope that the outrage is acknowledged by whoever makes these decisions and either gets fired or change their ways and fix this.#it's so sad too bc the area and story seems promising. but the character designs..... yeah the impact will be little and diminished.#rant over. I dont talk about it because I haven’t actually played the game yet though I do want to one day (Main obstacle is having no one to play with) but I have started collecting pretty avidly the digimon card game cards if only for the artwork rn. A lot of the art for the dtcg is really gorgeous and if anyone wants I can share some of my favourites from what I got

#digimon #dinu yells into the void #dinu yells in the void #I love collecting digimon cards its literally so addicting for me. tbh #It’s also one of the best ways for getting merch for a like obscure or more niche digimon #Again i am technically a fake fan bc all i do is collect rn but it is unfortunately very hard to find ppl to actually play against #like id need to learn how to play first but i dont think thats like necessarily a herculean task to do. i used to play yu gi oh casually #when i was younger #and i actually really like the structure of the digimon tcg requiring you to have dupes in order to actually play the game #it makes it feel less like im in it for Weird rarity reasons ala modern Pokemon card people bc its good to have dupes #anyways. again if anyone wants i can share my fav artwork from my collection rn lol #there are some that are so. waaaaaaa
