I've only seen fics of Our Life Now And Forever MC’s being shy and quiet. So I decided to make a fc with a popular MC for fun. It occurs during step one.

Yet again you sat on the plastic slippery red chair next to Tamarack. Mrs Murray was talking about… something? You hadn't really been paying attention, of course you enjoyed Mrs Murray's teaching but today…

Today you had been sucked into your imagination and thoughts.

You were popular.

You thought at least, Ma had said you were. She talked about how whenever you were around people they liked to hang around you.

The fact that you were new already dragged a lot of attention to you in the first place.

You knew Qiu was popular but you didn't think you were as popular…

Were you?

You hung around Qiu a lot. Ever since you arrived at Golden Grove you had stuck with him and Tamarack, and they chose to stick with you too.

It was only nature that you'd end up talking to Qiu’s fans and admirers at some point. Maybe they'd turned into your fans too?

Tamarack and Qiu said that you were cool, smart, kind, interesting, and all that stuff but you never thought about it too much. It was sort of hard for you to believe that you were actually all that, originally you thought they were just being nice but… Maybe you really were that and more, enough for people to actually want to get to know you.

Absentmindedly you taped your cool gell pen against the hard wood surface of your little desk.

Tap, tap, tap.

With every tap of your pen you seemed to get further and further into thought.

Maybe because Qiu chose to hang out with you people though you were cool too?

You flipped open you travel sized sketch book and began doodling aimlessly.

You smiled softly looking at it, Qiu and Tamarack had bought it together for your birthday.

It was sort of weird that people wanted to follow you around like minions.

You thought about lunch time. You routine was roughly the same every day but there was always a little fan group around you.

You didn't eaven notice until now.

You traced the edge of the small book. The cover was made of a sleek black leather with little painted on silver stars and moons. In the front page there was a note written by Qiu and Tamarack had drew you a little picture of all three of you.

You were pulled out of your thoughts as you felt someone tap your shoulder.

“What's up?”

You answered without looking at who it was first. You closed your scetchbook at looked at whoever needed you attention.

It was Qiu with Tamarack standing right next to him.

“Oh!”

“Hi.”

“Hey, are you coming it's lunch?”

Qiu looks at you with his trademark smile shineing brightly.

It never failed to make your heart race every time. You smiled softly at the both of them.

“Yeah.”

You stood up and pushed the hard plastic chair back into its place and of your little trio went to the cafeteria.

“Are you ok?”

“You seem spacy.”

“Yeah, you were zoning out for the whole of class.”

“I'm fine.”

You smile happily walking into the cafeteria and up to the line with them.

“Just thinking.”

“About what?”

“Being popular.”

“Popular?”

“What do you mean?”

Tamarak and Qiu both look puzzled by what you said.

“Well…”

You trailed of thinking about what to say next.

“I’ve noticed that there's always a group of people around us… sort of like fans or something. I dunno, it's stupid. Nevermind.”

“No! You've said it now you have to finish!”

Qiu looks at you teasingly and Tamarack bounced up and down on the balls of her feat.

“Yeah! Come onnnn.”

You laugh softly at there antics.

“mmh, ok then.”

“I mean, I think we're like a little exclusive group of cool kids to everyone else.”

Qiu shrugs before his trademark smile returned.

“We are cool.”

“Yeah! Super cool!”

“I guess we are.”

This fic is sort of just a setup for a series I'm trying to write, I'm sick right now so I might get more writing done :)

me realizing that the hanahaki disease trope fanfic is very much available for this franchise..*my honest fking reaction*

Context: I was scrolling through Ao3 looking for Cove x reader fanfics that I'll like(as any normal person) then I came across one that was titled "I'm Dying", I looked at the tags and it had Angst and Unrequited Love.

And as the p*ssy that i am, I didn't read it(or the other tags) bc I don't wanna go through another heartache, then thought "Oh god, what's gonna happen if Our Life had a hanahaki trope.. everybody be dying left and right(mostly Derek, like I'm sorry but you can't deny that I'm right)...

Then I stumbled on a tumblr post that said "what if Cove didn't reciprocate your feelings?" And everything just spiraled from there.. if we left Cove hanging and we get a sad The End where the Lasts(mostly Liz and Lee) yell at Cove over and over about losing us and Cove ridden with guilt and Derek with the thoughts "Why not me? I could've treated you so much better than he did!" And sht like that..

Okay.. I'm now depressed.. I'm just gonna play OL2 today..

In OL2 is it safe to assume that Qui (in step 2) had experienced people confessing to them (and having to reject them)? I asking mostly for fanfic purposes if that's okay

Yeah, as they grow up people ask Qiu out and express that they are into them. Usually folks get turned down. But during the years in between Steps Qiu can have potentially accepted some dates and tried having relationships, if there's nothing going on between them and the MC. During the events of the story, though, Qiu is always fully single so there's space for things to progress with the MC, if the player wants that.

H: How would you describe your writing style?

Does “straight up bonkers” count as a writing style? Probably not, so I’ll try to answer as best as I can. In all honesty, I feel my style is still taking shape. From what I have tho, it is very concise. I try to cram as much meaning into as few words as possible and get straight to the point (though I am trying to get better about description). I also like to think my style has some amount of wit to it that I’d like to continue playing up.

M: What’s the weirdest AU scenario you’ve ever come up with?  Did it turn into a story?

After too many jokes that my Temple Gate oc, Otis, gives off stressed single mom vibes in raising his baby half-brother/Knoth spawn, Seth, we joked that he should go on Maury to get the dad to pay child support. I actually wrote it for some reason and it’s still one of the stupidest things on my ao3 to date.

Y: What are your thoughts on your personal satisfaction with something you’ve written vs. the popularity of your stories?  Do you tend to be most satisfied with your most popular stories?  

Hmm now this is an interesting one because I don’t think my work ever got that popular. I never wrote for any of the big ships and entered the fandom after its glory days. At best I’d call myself a “modest success” in the fandom but not much more.

My only fic that ever got fairly popular was A Patient Wolf . I assume it’s because I wrote for our dear fandom fave, Eddie, but even aside from that, I like to think it’s a good story. I think it’s a landmark of when my style really started to come into its own and one I could still look back on in pride.

I could argue my OL2 stuff is kind of underrated since I think my best characterization came from those stories, but I also understand the sequel was a big base-breaker in the fandom so it’s not necessarily surprising.

I have to ask! Will Our Life 2 come out soon, or sometime next year?

It’s not coming out any time soon, I’m afraid. Late 2022 is the earliest estimate. At least for all three Steps. Maybe we’ll release the Steps one at a time as they get finished instead of waiting for all three to be done.

Since we have the first letters of the OL2 love interests, is there any chance we may have the first letter of the default player character name?

The default first name for the MC starts with “F”!

Hello! I'm not sure if it's too late to ask or recommend since the game is in production, but would it be possible to have a dark, cool undertoned skin for the MC's mom for OL2?

Right now we can only manage the four options for her. Changing the skin on that one sprite isn’t the only part that’d be required. There’s more art for the mom that’d also need new extra work if she had more skin tones and there’s additional programming involved to include new choices. I’m sorry for that.

The compromise for having a mom with only four options is that the MC’s bio dad isn’t shown on screen. So traits not from the mom can be assumed to come from the dad. Maybe we’d be able to expand the options for the mom sprite if things go well with future funding.

Would it be too much to ask if the Baxter romance can move forward from casual if you continue/rekindle it during Step 4? I assume that's an option, anyway.

If that's best revealed when it releases that's completely understandable. Thank you for making this fantastic game <3

Yep! In Step 4 you can start a more genuine and serious relationship with him once he’s older and if you get his DLC.

You can make fanworks of our characters. I’m not sure what the issue is, but unless it’s something seriously horrific or bigoted or what have you I imagine there’d be no problem.

I heard that once the NSFW moment comes out you’ll need to subscribe to the $5 Patreon, but since I’m from the UK I don’t actually know which one that is since the site only shows the value in UK pounds. Hi! Hope you are having a great day! ^-^ I’m almost through with my second play-through and I have a few questions. Does Coves feelings for MC match what you pick at the start of the step? Admittedly I have only played fond/crush in 2 and 3 and his feelings seem to match MC. When doing an indifferent play-through, does Coves feelings match? If they don’t, generally what is coves inclination towards MC in each step? (Like indifferent, fond, crush over the steps)

Sorry for my ramble, I was just curious. 💜

Cove’s feelings for the MC are the same as the MC’s feelings for him. He wants to get along, if possible, so if the MC is good to him the relationship goes well. But if you’re indifferent to him, he keeps his distance.

I don’t know if you’ve answered this before but does proposing to Cove during the end of Step 3 affect the Wedding DLC like change choices, references, etc?

It does get referenced but it doesn’t make huge differences.

Sorry if you've answered this before, but how do you pronounce Kyra's name? (Keyra, kai-ra, other?) My name is spelt that way but people constantly pronounce it the "wrong" way. I want to make sure im pronouncing it right :)

In wedding dlc, will it have an option where we temporarily dated Baxter in step 3? Or there will be no mention of it in dlc?

Hey, will there be any flavor text for the wedding DLC if MC dated Baxter before their relationship with Cove? I think it would be kind of funny in a way X3

Yeah. It won’t be a huge thing ‘cause it was very casual dating in Step 3, but it will come up if it happened.

Will there be any mention of Cove and MC having kids or adopting in Step 4? 

There’s no children in Step 4. It’d add too many alterations for us to manage and Cove wouldn’t be comfortable having kids at the age of 23, whether through adoption or birth.
