T. E. Lawrence's letter to Lowell Thomas about the "In Palestine with Allenby/With Lawrence in Arabia" show, 17th of November 1919

Dear Lowell Thomas

A new infliction. Hogarth wants to see "Allenby", and to show it to his wife, his son and his sister. He wants me to go with them as a sauce to render the dish more piquant: and proposes that it should happen on the Tuesday afternoon after Xmas, whenever that is: something near the 30th I should think. Will you be at works still, then, + if so, at Queen's Hall, I suppose?

I'd like to see you before the occasion, and will be in London on Monday, about 11. A. M. Could I see you then or on Tuesday morning, or are you busy?

I'm very sorry for continually bothering you: my little brother seems to have enjoyed himself: I hope he said nothing (?)

English doesn’t have a letter for ʃ

I don’t want to use to ʃ bc I have to switch keyboards if on mobile and also it’s distracting because it’s not a usually seen letter in English

Don’t want to use <sc> because I do that a lot

Kind of want to use the long s, but I can’t type that on mobile

If I use a diacritic I might forget what it means

Leaving me with *drumroll*: ß (which does not make the ʃ sound but is a convenient to type letter and it is made of the long s and the ezh (ʒ) so it’s a win win)

Basically I wish it was easier to type old letters on standard keyboards (long s, insular g (assuming you aren’t in a font that defaults the g to an insular g such as Uncial Antiqua), wynn, ezh, round r, etc.). They’re such cool letters and I would love to be able to type them on mobile, but I can’t and for some of them the font support is abysmal.

happy valentine’s day to all who celebrate and to all who used it as a day to express their love for those who they care about, platonic, romantic or otherwise!

i made personalised little envelopes to wrap the gifts in and a wax stamp to seal them

editors note: i didn’t use real addresses or names on the envelope so do not fret

each person—including myself—got a velvet rosette with a key in their respective colours! i had lots of fun making these for everyone <3

there is of course one missing, however that one will be kept hidden until they have received it (you know who you are, i haven’t forgotten about you darling don’t worry)

I have both old used postcards and new unused ones that I usually grab when traveling. But this example hooked me. I don't remember when I even picked it up. Pretty cool!
