Sunday, Sunday, Sunday ...

Ahoy there mateys!! Avast ye landlubbers!! Swab the decks ... hoist the mainsail ... and would somebody please get Tom the cabin boy out of the crow's nest!! ;-D

Something like that, anyway ........

Every time I go past this particular pallet, I see what I see and it makes me smile. I'm suddenly whisked away to the open sea and a treasure map and the constant query of "why is the rum always gone?" An old pair of shoes has been transformed into a couple of zombie pirates (Pirates of the Caribbean) ... there's the sound of a drum beating somewhere in the distance (think Jumanji) ... and, of course, X marks the spot (Goonies)!

Not that I make much of a sailor. I can end up vomiting even when a boat has weighed anchor. ;-D But I do like the ocean ... and, on a millpond kind of a day, then there's nothing finer than heading out towards an island and letting your imagination run riot. Herm Island remains a fond memory ... a long time since I've been there. I like to cast my mind back to when I visited the place ... to the bluest of seas and the astonishing sight of multi coloured shells across the beach ... pink ones, green ones, blue ones, yellow ones ... I've not seen anything like it anywhere else.

I may be kitchen bound and in the middle of the Emerald Isle, far from the lap of waves ... but I can still close my eyes and never be far from the sea. I'm put in mind of the Wellerman shanty (not that I have any wish to go whaling ... nor have I read Moby Dick) ... but there's definitely something in it that brings you closer to the whip of sails, the cry of gulls and a bow that's plowing furiously through the water.

(Nobody mention the film Titanic! I only managed 20 minutes before abandoning ship!)

Now ... after all that dotting here and there ... I'm off to have my breakfast (hopefully something more tasty than the hard biscuits they used to have aboard the ships) and regain my land legs. So, shiver your timbers mateys ... heave ho me hearties ... and here's to the next parlay!

Now ... who fancies a walk on the plank? ;-) ...
