I received an email from my local library asking me if I would like to donate a copy of Tomorrow's Loss, my book.

I'm crying because, I may not be getting paid for them to purchase my book or for patrons to check out my book, but they'll be able to read it. For free.

I'm crying because trans kids will pick up this book and see themselves represented as a protagonist.

I'm crying because gay and even ace kids will see themselves represented as happy and falling in love despite the world crashing down around them.

I'm crying, and even laughing, because I finally did it; and in a red state no less.

Voyage Espagne 2023 - Fin et Bilan

Le reste du séjour, on a assez peu fait d'activités... à part une.

Nous sommes retournés à Cambrils pour faire du bateau. Vous avez plusieurs options pour aller vous balader mais nous on a choisi la formule fin d'après-midi chez Creuers Costa Dorada. Ils sont supers sympas et drôles. On part à 16h du port pour naviguer sur un catamaran pendant une petite heure en longeant la côte. On s'arrête une heure pour pouvoir se baigner. Et ensuite on rentre au port. Musique et open bar pendant toute la durée, super ambiance.

Au retour, on fait un petit tour dans les rues commerçantes de Cambrils et je m'arrête dans la boutique Sabor a España pour acheter une cargaison de Turron (si j'en ramène pas pour les collègues, je vais me faire lyncher). Je prends donc un assortiment pour le boulot, et pour ma petite gueule j'en prends une barre à la pistache et une barre à la myrtille (à l'heure où j'écris ses lignes je ne suis pas encore rentrée chez moi donc je n'ai pas encore goûté mais je vous tiens au jus). Bonne nouvelle, je viens de découvrir qu'ils ont une boutique en ligne !

Sinon à part ça, nous sommes aussi allés au marché de L'Hospitalet de l'Infant, connu pour être vraiment le marché des contrefaçons. Mais c'est aussi un vrai grand marché aussi bien alimentaire que vestimentaire et autres babioles. Il y avait énormément de monde et on crevait de chaud, donc on s'est arrêté sur la plage boire un coup dans une payote.

On a aussi été acheter de l'huile d'olive (en vrai c'est surtout ça que j'attendais) à la coopérative de Mont-Roig. Si ça vous intéresse, la marque c'est Olis Solé. Là aussi je vous dirais si c'est bon. J'ai pris un bidon parce que bon je viens pas en Espagne tous les jours hein.

Bilan :

Cela fait du bien de partir en vacances, ça fait une éternité que je n'étais partie. Par contre, plus jamais je pars avec mes parents. J'avais oublié qu'on ne se supportait pas très longtemps... Mais c'est une destination que je referais volontiers avec des amis !

Je pense que si vous ne voulez pas faire beaucoup de kilomètres pour visiter, il vaut mieux prévoir une semaine, pas plus. La zone est tout de même un peu moins touristique que Lloret de Mar par exemple.

Les bémols maintenant. Les routes sont atroces. Il faut s'accrocher à son slip pour ne pas se cogner la tête dans la voiture tellement il y a de nids de poules, de bosses, et ils adorent les dos d'ânes qui sont violents. Selon où vous allez, les rues et les plages sont assez crades. De notre côté à Miami Platja il y a énormément de détritus sur le bord des routes, dans les chemins, sur la plage... Rien n'est jamais nettoyé et les gens sont des porcs. En revanche dans les villes plus "touristiques" comme Cambrils, c'est un peu plus propre. Les égouts puent tout le temps. Il faut le savoir, les infrastructures espagnoles sont assez vétustes et les odeurs bien présentes. Pour finir, on voit bien qu'il n'y a pas d'équivalent des bâtiments de France en Espagne. Les développement des villes, des constructions, l'architecture... tout est un peu au petit bonheur la chance. On a visité des lieux magnifiques gâchés par les constructions autour qui ne ressemblent à rien. Il n'y a aucun plan de conservation du patrimoine, même si cela tend à changer dernièrement.

Néanmoins, il y a beaucoup de belles choses à voir, surtout si vous aimez la vieille pierre, les petits chemins cachés, et le patrimoine en général. On a très bien mangé et les gens sont très sympathiques. Les commerçant sont très accueillants et font beaucoup d'effort pour dépasser la barrière de la langue (après j'ai appris à commander une bière, je peux désormais survivre en autonomie). On arrive à trouver pas mal d'activités et de restaurants pas chers du tout.

Bref, c'est une destination à faire au moins une fois. Si je n'étais pas logée gratos par ma maman, honnêtement, je ne suis pas sûre que j'y retournerais une seconde fois. Mais ça restera une belle semaine et demi dont je me souviendrais.

The Michelin Supercar Paddock Showstopper award was presented to Darren Turner, Marek Reichman and the Aston Martin Valkyrie team by judges Jodie Kidd, legendary designer Frank Stephenson, Mr JWW and DriveTribe’s Mike Fernie.  Chosen for its pursuit of function over form, the judges were impressed with the hypercar’s impeccable road-going credentials, as well as its striking aerodynamic design and mind-blowing performance. The Aston Martin Valkyrie made its global dynamic debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed and is the first hypercar the legendary British marque has ever produced. The name of the car intentionally evokes images of an otherworldly power, and its performance lives up to that billing. Featuring a huge 6.5-litre V12 hybrid engine capable of delivering 1160 horsepower in a car which is exceptionally lightweight - its 100% carbon fibre chassis and body weigh just over 1,000 kilograms – helping it achieve better than a 1:1 power to weight ratio. The hypercar takes design and engineering cues from Formula One racing, thanks to collaborative input from Red Bull Racing’s legendary design guru Adrian Newey. The aerodynamics around the car were designed to give F1 standard of performance, downforce and handling. Capable of reaching 0-62mph in a blistering 2.5 seconds, the Valkyrie has an astonishing top speed in excess of 250mph. I think it was Happy Hurts. What kind of impact has 1 left on your life ? 

I could write pages and pages about how much I admire and respect and look up to Sia. Her strength, her perseverance, her bravery are amazing and inspiring. She was dealt hard cards and she turned her pain, her anger, her sadness into art and beauty and strength. I recognize myself in many of her songs, Bird Set Free, Alive, Chandelier, Elastic Heart to cite only the most known, but I only look up to her as a role model, as someone inspiring me to keep going, never give up, never let go of my dreams and my principles. She struggled, still struggles, with so many issues, and she’s still here and still makes beautiful, haunting, magnificent songs. She is who I turn to when I feel like I can’t do it, I’m not enough, I’m weak, and she helps me get up again and keep going.

This is actually the only band I ever saw live. I’m not a big concert-goer, big crowds and crowded places make me sick, but this band is from my mother’s hometown, where I lived for the last two years of High School, and they were back home to present their second album, so one of my then-friend - the one who introduced me to them - invited me to their very special concert only for their hometown. It was really nice. It was also something like 5 or 6 years ago ...

Hello, this is Within Temptation, all of their songs make me sad ! Also, so many of their songs can be associated with my ship OTP n°1, Merthur, so double the sadness. Like Memories for exemple - the song itself is pretty sad, but someone had the great idea to do a Merthur fanvid - do you know how much I cried when I saw the vid for the first time ? How did you get into 10 ? 

First step : when I was 10 yo we had to go back to France for a year (long story short, it had to do with my mother’s job). Second step : during that single year, my first of middle school, I got bullied (experience racism and sexism like never before !). Third step : my mother was so busy with her job that she more or less bought us everything we wanted (with reason), and she offered my their 2008 album “Ce que l’on sème” (single : Ce que l’on s’aime). With my sister we would listen to it every night before going to sleep, we knew all the lyrics by heart ... I knew them for before that, because they were kinda huge in France at a time, with songs like L’Hymne de Nos Campagnes or Désolé Pour Hier Soir (my Frenchies will understand), but that album is what made me love them. Though I have trouble listening to that album today, because, you know, memories and such.  “C'est l'hymne de nos campagnes De nos rivières, de nos montagnes De la vie man, du monde animal Crie-le bien fort, use tes cordes vocales !”
