Here is a drawing of Disney Mice.
To start, I drew Minnie Mouse, Mickey's girlfriend. Since 1935, when the Mickey Mouse series went into color, Minnie has had a varied color palette. Personally, I chose blue.
Then I drew Gadget from Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers and did it with lighter blonde hair like Tad Stones had originally thought.
Then I did Miss Bianca from The Rescuers (1977) with her purple coat which was my favorite Bianca outfit. Miss Bianca is for me the most beautiful mouse among the Disney heroines with her varied wardrobe.
And finally, Olivia Flaversham from The Great Mouse Detective (1986), animated by Rob Minkoff, the director of The Lion King. The reason i drew Olivia holding the scarf is because the scarf hides the collar and the center of the coat, Olivia's coat is more detailed than Miss Bianca's with the buttons.
From left to right we have : Miss Bianca from The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under Minnie Mouse Gadget Hackwrench from Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers Olivia Flaversham from The Great Mouse Detective
Tools : Krita and Wacom Tablet.

New Fiction 2022 - July
The Bible, Douay-Rheims, Complete - "1 Paralipomenon" ed. Richard Challoner (1752)
More begetting children and all their names before coming back around to more of David's reign. So many chapters are just appendices to previous events.
The Bible, Douay-Rheims, Complete - "2 Paralipomenon" ed. Richard Challoner (1752)
Two Paralipomenon, say that five times fast. So now it's on to Solomon and his riches (again), Roboam talking about how his little finger is bigger than his dad's dick, and Jeroboam getting whipped with scorpions all the way to the fall of Jerusalem. It's basically another look at what we saw in Kings.
Dracula Daily - "July" by Bram Stoker & ed. Matt Kirkland (1897, 2021)
Dracula’s finally outta that musty old castle, though leaving Jonathan in the lurch is quite the cliffhanger. And that poor, poor captain.
Bad Hare Day by R.L. Stine (1996)
A mish-mash of various ideas from earlier books. It has the vibe of Haunted Mask and stealing secrets from weird adults, the experimenting with illicit stuff from Monster Blood, animal transformations from various books, bratty younger sister who bullies the protagonist, a Slappy-like snarky villainous character. It’s too much of a remix and more slapstick than horror.
Egg Monsters from Mars by R.L. Stine (1996)
A decent creature story, but the latter half kind of sags with the protagonist spending a lot of time just trapped in a freezer and struggling to stay warm. The villain is genuinely frightening but also one-dimensional and doesn't really explain his motivation well. And there's not enough of the egg monsters. It's close to a top tier book but just sputters too much along the way.
"Bathtub Mermaid" by Edith Zimmerman (2022)
Someone has to hear about the doll thief.
"its time for… the dark cabinet" by itstimeforcomics-blog (2015)
When you least suspect it.
Lost Highway dir. David Lynch (1997)
One can see the continuation of a theme in Lynch’s work since Blue Velvet. Does he want us see the darkness or the light?
Mad God dir. Phil Tippett (2022)
If the journey ends for you, it doesn’t mean it’s the end.
Mr. Malcolm's List dir. Emma Holly Jones (2022)
British accents always class up the cruelty.
Thor: Love and Thunder dir. Taika Waititi (2022)
Whoof, what a drop from Ragnarok.
Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers dir. Akiva Schaffer (2022)
A reflection of a reflection that is unaware of what it sees.
Where the Crawdads Sing dir. Olivia Newman (2022)
Pump up the volume on the mystery, tone down the romance.
Nope dir. Jordan Peele (2022)
The most fun take on Jaws since the original. A real hoot and also really fucked up at times. An understanding of horror by someone who continues to bring cool ideas to movies.
Vengeance dir. B. J. Novak (2022)
You get awful close but you shouldn’t have been the face of it. Now we ask, what did we learn?
Fear Street Part One: 1994 dir. Leigh Janiak (2021)
Really going for it right out of the gate. I’m in. Now I need to know if I should go back and read Fear Street after reading this bunch of Goosebumps books.
Fear Street Part Two: 1978 dir. Leigh Janiak (2021)
Even the devil craves a kind word.
Fear Street Part Three: 1666 dir. Leigh Janiak (2021)
Legacy is mankind’s ruin.
Goosebumps - "Bad Hare Day" (1996)
Erf, the book was rough, and the episode doesn’t do itself any favors by leaning into the snarky villain.
Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (1988-1990)
A nostalgia bomb like every one of these 90s cartoons tends to be, though the tropes eventually wear thin when watching it all in one go. Monterey Jack may be what crystallized my appreciation of cheese.
Better Call Saul - Season 5 (2020)
This show... it doesn’t build the way Breaking Bad builds. It’s more of a roller coaster with the sense of hitting the same drop a few too many times. This season is a bookmark in place while you wait for the extra season that should have been season five.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021-2022)
I feel bad for the actors and crew of this ostensibly standalone TV show. Your makers should have had the fortitude to stick the vision.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Better, but only because it is exactly what I remember. It’s comfortable, like an old pair of socks.

Do not Fear Darling Could Have ANOTHER Controversy After KiKi Layne Revelation
“Don’t Fear Darling” actor KiKi Layne could have simply piled on extra controversy surrounding the film. (See her submit under.) The up-and-coming star famous on Instagram Sunday that she was minimize from many of the Olivia Wilde-directed movie ― and that the most effective half about appearing in it was the boon to her love life. She apparently fell for co-star Ari’el Stachel, who she mentioned additionally was largely excised from the film. “One of the best factor about #DontWorryDarling is that I used to be fortunate sufficient to fulfill @arielstachel,” she wrote with video displaying the pleased couple. “They minimize us from many of the film, however we thriving in actual life.” Layne starred within the 2018 film “If Beale Avenue Might Speak” that yielded star Regina King an Oscar. She additionally appeared within the sequel “Coming 2 America” (2021) and supplied one of many marquee voices to this yr’s “Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers.” However her function as Margaret within the “Stepford Wives”-like “Don’t Fear Darling” obtained quick shrift, based on HuffPost reviewer Candice Frederick. The film “presents a personality with a ton of potential to actually subvert previous iterations of this premise, and does little or no together with her,” Federick wrote. “Margaret has possibly a handful of traces in the entire film, but she is essential to the story.” The $35 million-budgeted film opened to a comparatively stable $19.2 million gross over the weekend amid reviews of Wilde feuding with star Florence Pugh and hypothesis over whether or not “Darling” lead Harry Kinds spit on co-star Chris Pine on the Venice Movie Pageant screening. That was along with insistence from Shia LaBeouf that he give up the movie earlier than Kinds took his function — not that he was fired, as Wilde claimed. Stachel, largely a stage and TV actor who had a recurring function on “Legislation and Order: SVU,” performed off Layne’s submit by saying she was his “favourite a part of my expertise in Don’t Fear Darling.” “This lady did phenomenal work and I used to be thirsty the second I met her,” he wrote. So I guess the time has come for me to write a novel-length statement in defense of Dale Stuckey...
As I mentioned in this (also way too long) post, this isn't me saying "Murder is actually fine if you’re sad enough" or even really condoning anything he says and does on the show; for the most part, this post is me pushing back against the very shallow interpretation of his character that is exemplified by his fandom-wiki page, which can be found here (and which contains factual inaccuracies in addition to generally bad takes).
The opinion of the fan-wiki author (and the authors of the few additional sources I could find) seems to be that Dale just sucks as a person and is always wrong and everything he does is in service of being just The Worst.
When discussing "Ballerina" (the first episode he appears in), they say of him using skills that he learned earlier in the episode: "Dale decided to be more productive like the Detectives suggested.." As if he was making a conscious effort to be bad at his job, rather than applying a lesson that he just learned.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I go more into this particular issue in the post I linked earlier, but this quote jumped out to me because it really illustrates the shallow interpretation of his character that I find most places. The person who wrote that entry took the dialogue at face value and didn’t consider any subtext or inflection that might lend any subtlety to the character.
Obviously, I disagree with this interpretation for a couple of reasons, not the least of which being that the goal of this blog is to explore his character in depth. Let's be honest, it's just more fun to write for/about a character who has motivations more complicated than just: be annoying. But I also don't think that basic interpretation is supported by the show itself.
When it comes right down to it, I think Dale's motivation is not difficult to understand and is, for me at least, almost painfully relatable. He wants what anyone wants: to be accepted. In his case, it's to be accepted professionally and personally, despite his many flaws.
And the fact of the matter is that the other characters simply don't. They not only don't accept him, they outright reject him, often and to his face. Sometimes his treatment is earned, as it is when Stabler confronts him over inappropriate conduct at a grave site. But more often than not, it just comes across as unnecessarily cruel , such as when O'Halloran says that Dale is wasting everyone's time "again" for providing information about spoofing websites to a room full of people who apparently don't know how to use Google.
Whoever wrote this entry on TV Tropes does a pretty good job of articulating how I feel about his treatment:
Tumblr media
This person also makes a good point that Dale is at first thrilled to be a part of the squad. I think part of that is a kind of hero fantasy (“helping get scum off the streets”) but I also think he just wants to be a part of the group. He tries unsuccessfully to connect with almost every other member of the squad, usually by being overly familiar with them in a way that we can all agree is overbearing and alienating. Pretty much every attempt backfires, to the point where Stabler physically threatens him for it.
Which brings me to "Zebras". Hoo boy.
So, just so I'm not misunderstood, let me be perfectly clear: Dale fucked up big time because he wasn't paying attention and he completely fails to take responsibility for his mistake. Again, this post isn't about excusing his actions, it's about understanding the emotions that drive the character.
And I personally think it's too simplistic to say that everything he does in this episode is solely because he can't handle the consequences of his actions. I definitely think that's part of it, he is a deeply immature person who clearly does not know how to manage his emotions in a healthy way. But there was something I kept thinking of when I was drafting this post in my head last night:
Every time I mess up even a little bit, at work, in my personal life, etc., my brain immediately goes: You're gonna lose your job, that person isn't going to want to talk to you anymore, everyone is gonna hate you for this…and so on. And I'm sure I'm not unique in that; I think this is a pretty common form of catastrophizing. But here's the thing: for Dale, this isn't a hypothetical. Everyone already does hate him, or at least a few people do and are very vocal about it. My worst case scenario is already his current scenario.
So I don't think that making a bad mistake and being humiliated for it is the only reason he snaps. It's not just that he can't handle the pressure; he can't, but that pressure is compounded by the treatment he's already been subjected to. It’s not just that he fucked up, it’s that (almost) every other person is constantly reminding him that he fucked up and telling him that even if he did manage to fix his mistake (which is the catalyst for his murder spree), they’re not going to let him live it down.
So by the final scene of episode 22, he's completely overwhelmed with frustration, anger, embarrassment, loneliness, confusion, all of which Noel Fisher does a phenomenal job of portraying, by the way. Honestly, most of this post is a result of me watching that final scene and being moved by his performance. I think he’s incredibly expressive and communicates a lot in a fairly short amount of time.
The acting is worth mentioning because 1. It’s great, and 2. I think his performance is yet another thing that conflicts with the shallow interpretation that I found on the fan-wiki.
For instance (and I apologize in advance because I was unable to find clips to prove my point) from the fandom wiki entry for “Zebras”:
Dale Stuckey: (gleefully) Hit him again!
Unfortunately, I can’t find a clip of this because NBC has a vise-like grip on their content, so I have no way of proving that this is not how that line read goes, but you're gonna have to trust me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like, that entry is so weird to me because that's just not accurate at all; it sounds like it was written from memory and never double-checked. The way it's written on the wiki entry sounds so cartoonishly evil and isn’t remotely close to what the line sounds like in the actual episode.
While I'm sure watching Benson slap Stabler gave him some degree of satisfaction (as it does for all of us), the purpose of that command is to see if she'll do it (see: above, right). Because he knows that it's a bad idea to trust her in this circumstance but also desperately wants to believe that she's on his side. After all, Benson is the only person who has shown him any degree of warmth or patience;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he clearly has a crush on her, but I think he also genuinely cares about her and is looking for any reason not to kill her, even though doing so would ultimately benefit him (at least as far as not getting caught goes).
Another interesting thing I noticed about this scene is that watching Benson slap Stabler around (satisfying though it may be) is not enough to convince him that he can trust her.
Which brings me back to the question: what does he want? I think if he just wanted revenge, that would be that, but what gets him to trust Benson is her showing him understanding and ultimately acceptance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So while he certainly does want to destroy the people who hurt him, revenge for revenge’s sake isn’t what’s going to make him happy.
And I think those conflicting emotions are a thousand times more interesting than the standard "he just sucks" explanation that I see a lot of.
So, in conclusion:
Tumblr media
(This post was way too long and I didn’t cover everything I wanted to, so I’ll probably have to make some follow up posts. If you made it this far: you’re great, I love you, you deserve a medal.)

The Little Stone
I put together a playlist ordered by Fjord’s character arc, there are fan songs about him, picks from Travis’s official playlist for his character, and songs I think suit him. There’s a messier version with Autumnal Orange’s lo-fi albums mixed in Here, which I recommend shuffling.
