i was honestly really disappointed in the joint artist’s statement shared by olly and all who signed it. i know they’ve all signed contracts they legally have to abide by or face legal consequences, but i was still hoping for more. it only takes one broadcaster or contestant to start the domino affect of threats to withdraw. if not that, they could boycott the preparties or refuse interviews/publicity (which is what esc needs to build viewership). the media would have to talk about why some of the contestants are boycotting due to isnotreals genocide in palestine. the contestants should be doing everything they contractually can to bring attention to this.
wearing the artists for ceasefire pins is a nice gesture but it’s purposefully not loud. if you don’t know what it means it goes unnoticed. and i think that barely counts as a statement when most of the general public would have to google it to find out. it would be much more affective to wear a palestinian flag to show meaningful support and it would piss isnotreal off. that being said the palestinian flag is banned in esc and i assume any mention of palestine or the palestinian people as well.
so… what do we do here? what’s the point of all this if their support is superficial? we need actual statements and risks to be taken. i’m sorry but the excuse that they shouldn’t have to sacrifice their opportunity at esc is asinine to me. it’s unfortunate that they’ve been put in this position, yes. but people are dying, children are dying. we’ve been watching a genocide being carried out before our eyes. countless war crimes committed and bragged about with no consequence or signs of stopping. it’s a sacrifice people need to be making. to hopefully save lives and help shift policy.
speaking out and boycotting makes a difference. it could force the ebu to make isnotreal withdraw (let’s be honest they’ll never ban them). or if isnotreal sees that esc isn’t going to be profitable for them and the public opinion is against them they might withdraw themselves. the whole point they’re in esc is to garner support and promote propaganda. we have to show them that that will not be possible. no one will watch. no one will do interviews. no one will participate. the ebu only cares when the money stops. remember that.
so please follow the bds’s call to boycott eurovision
there’s also this twitter account isrbreaksrules dedicated to calling out isnotreals blatant violations of the ebu’s rules

Eurovision Star Nemo Calls Out Organisers After Their Historic Win
Eurovision winner Nemo wasted no time in criticising the organisers behind this year’s competition following their win on Saturday night. This year’s song contest was marred in controversy, largely due to the presence of Israel, which resulted in many fans – and the Palestine-led Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement – calling for a boycott of the broadcast. Saturday night saw Swiss singer Nemo triumphing in a historic victory, not just as the first non-binary to win Eurovision, but the first singer representing Switzerland to be crowned since Céline Dion in 1988. Nemo celebrated their success in the voting by waving the non-binary pride flag, but admitted at a press conference after their win they’d had to “smuggle” this in after being told by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) that it wasn’t allowed. The Swiss delegation holding up the non-binary flag, after previously being told this would not be allowed inside the arena TOBIAS SCHWARZ via Getty Images “I did it anyway, so I hope some people did that too,” they said. “But, I mean, come on, this is clearly a double standard.” After the broadcast, Eurovision shared a picture of Nemo and their non-binary flag on social media, with the caption: “Non-binary finery.” Having apparently broken the Eurovision trophy during their winning celebration on stage, Nemo told reporters: “The trophy can be fixed – maybe Eurovision needs fixing a little bit too, every now and then.” Elsewhere in the conversation, Nemo admitted their Eurovision experience had been “really intense”, and “not just pleasant all the way”. They noted that “a lot of things” during the competition had not made it “seem like it was all about love and unity” which made them “really sad”. However, they noted that “at the same time, there was so much love here as well”. Meanwhile, UK representative Olly Alexander finished in 18th place, after securing 46 points from the international juries (although his performance scored zero points from viewers watching at home). 25 May 2021
Iona P&O Cruise Ship
Architects: Jestico + Whiles
British cruise ship operator, P&O Cruises, has launched the latest addition to its fleet, Iona, with interiors designed by hospitality experts, Jestico + Whiles.
Britain’s largest and most environmentally friendly ship, powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) will accommodate up to 5,200 guests.
Iona was named in a spectacular ceremony broadcast to a virtual audience on Sunday May 16 and the ship’s maiden voyage will be on August 7, sailing the UK coast and up to her namesake island.
The award-winning interior design and architecture studio has designed most of the food and beverage spaces throughout the ship and the most spectacular space of all, the soaring triple-height Grand Atrium which captures unprecedented panoramic views across the ever-changing seascape, as far as the horizon.
The Grand Atrium is the heart of Iona, a lively focal point that encapsulates the spirit of the ship, with spectacular views and natural light. This special space is designed to ‘draw the outside in’ and, accordingly, Jestico + Whiles has made the sea the hero of the space, allowing guests to connect with the seascape around them. The Grand Atrium will be, according to the occasion and time of day, either playground or sanctuary.
It a key entertainment space, designed meticulously to effortlessly accommodate a wide variety of experiences, from musical performance to thrilling aerialists.
At other times it will attract guests throughout the day for convivial repose, offering from morning coffee as the sun rises and sundowners at dusk.
An elegant, gravity defying, arcing staircase of Italian marble with a filigree, bright silver serpentine balustrade serves as the centre piece to the space, evoking the glamour of the iconic cruise ships of the early 20th century. Designed as a sculpture, its swooping form leads guests on a journey through the decks offering ever changing views.
The unifying experience of the atrium is always the view to the sea that provides an enchanting, captivating backdrop to the activity within.
Jestico + Whiles’ Associate Director, Jennifer de Vere-Hopkins said: “Despite the challenge of such a large space, we have worked closely with P&O Cruises to create a unique Grand Atrium that is harmonious with the separate venues, making the space both open and intimate. The refocusing of the guest experiences on the sea is the heart of an entirely new brief. The sea becomes the focus of the triple-height space; the sinuous curves are shaped around it, framing and complementing the views to the outside.”
P&O Cruises senior vice president, Paul Ludlow said: “We’ve set out to make sure the sea is the star on Iona, and the design of the Grand Atrium tells you so much about how special she is going to be. Balancing intimate spaces with larger social areas, guests will be wowed by the three storey high glass walls and the ever-changing view they reveal. From the moment they step onto the staircase, I know guests will be swept away by the beautiful design.”
Jestico + Whiles has designed P&O Cruises first ever ‘gastro pub’ – The Keel and Cow – on Deck 8, with views over the Grand Atrium and the ocean. The Glass House on Deck 7 will include an impressive wine list and menu curated by award-winning wine expert Olly Smith, wines from around the world are served by the glass. Wine connoisseurs will be well taken care of with a new experience, Cellar Door at the Glass House will offer wine talks, tastings and wine-pairing dinners. Guests can relax with unbeatable views as they watch impromptu aerial and circus performances in the three-storey high space.
On Deck 6 at the Vistas Cafe Bar there is a unique offer from P&O Cruises Food Hero and master pâtissier Eric Lanlard. The nearby Emerald Bar will evoke the glamour of a 1920s cocktail bar.
Iona was constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. She holds 5,200 passengers and is the largest cruise ship for the British market.

March 3: Mr. Robot 1x08
Anyway I’m in a State here’s some Mr. Robot stuff:
This was probably the best episode so far and possibly the best of S1. I completely forgot that all of this stuff happened in one 45 minute period.
The scene of Angela and Darlene meeting in ballet class truly blew my mind the first time I watched it. I love that it’s set up to look like Darlene is stalking Angela and actually they are friends. Also Darlene does ballet apparently lol.
Interesting how one personality started fsociety but by this point a different personality has the most power--is the one who whiterose wants to meet. But then the Hacker is the one with actual computer skills so I suppose it makes sense.
Ironic to hear Elliot talking about people building up walls while he’s the one peering over them, when in fact he has built up bigger walls than literally anyone, in the form of multiple different selves. In retrospect, I should have remembered that at least part of that was revealed in this ep.
I forgot how smart Gideon is. I kind of remembered him as totally defeated by fsociety, which isn’t false, but he was waaaaay smarter than Elliot gave him credit for being. And also the number one best human in literally this entire universe. I keep imagining him as Elliot’s new father figure, and then when maybe he ends up entangled in fsociety instead of dying--even though objectively that would tarnish him and destroy him as a character and if that ha happened I would have wished he’d been killed off but I can’t help it I love him so much.
Ollie is annoying but he plays annoying so well. Bro.
I can’t believe literally everything in the whole Ollie story was basically just to set up this meeting with whiterose and Elliot. Well and to kickstart Angela’s story but I mean in universe.
Completely forgot what Tyrell and Joanna’s plan was and I think it’s because it’s really boring. A sex scandal. Yawn. As already stated I think they’re both intensely boring and I just don’t even care. Joanna literally sticking a fork in herself is still the grossest thing I’ve ever seen though.
That Angela and Elliot scene. I didn’t remember it at all but now I watch it and just think...it’s one giant clue, basically. This is how you build a twist, people: you know exactly what the reality is and you build around it without ever saying it explicitly. Once you know it’s clear but if you don’t know you’ll probably never guess. “You’re never there anymore. You’ve not been the same these last couple of months. You never talk to me anymore.”
Do wish we could see the real Angela and Elliot someday though.
whiterose’s entrance is the best ever. She is definitely trolling Elliot and BD Wong is a national treasure. My mom thinks she and Elliot, or someone in Elliot’s body, do meet again but I honestly don’t remember.
I wonder if Darlene’s distraction video is ultimately responsible for Gideon’s death, since it names him and basically creates a target on him.
“When I hacked Gideon, I saw a good, honest man.” YOU BET YOU DID.
Is it bad that my reaction to Darlene and Elliot was “the sibling kiss scene! My favorite!” It’s just the complete shock of it, which btw I still feel, even though I now know everything. I thought it happened later but also they couldn’t have pushed it back anymore, not with how much she obviously cares for him at the beginning of the episode. I mean if they were a romance it would be really deep really fast lol. ALSO they’ve established that Darlene and Angela know each other and Elliot; if anyone had a week to think about that without the distraction of all these other events, they would have figured it out.
More clues: “I avoid myself. Do I even exist. I'm here. Now I’m gone. Did I erase myself?”
Elliot and his dad were reading From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.

Australia v india: boxing day take a look at, day 3 - as it took place
Tumblr media Tumblr media
stumps on day three - india fifty four-5 (lead by way of 346) jonathan howcroft
all sport is abnormal on some degree, however cricket is greater odd than maximum, a truth borne out all through an amazing day’s play in melbourne. Following  days of ponderous action on a dull surface the boxing day take a look at exploded into existence with 15 wickets falling in three madcap classes. Jasprit bumrah become the superstar of the primary , obliterating australia’s first innings with figures of 6/33. Inside that there had been multiple sizzling deliveries (if you haven’t seen his slower ball to shaun marsh yet you must rectify that immediately) but within the main he profited from some other show of terrible nice australian batting. No person in a green helmet passed 22 regardless of little considerable difference within the pitch. A lead of 289 runs turned into no longer sufficient to persuade virat kohli to implement the follow on early in the very last session, and at 28-0 in india’s 2nd innings his side have been gambolling away with out a care within the world. However then out of nowhere five wickets fell in a flash, 4 to pat cummins, three of them catches behind square on the leg-facet, two of them - che pujara and kohli - in near equal style within the identical over. It became chaotic and compelling. Even as this useless cat jump lifted spirits in bay 13 it's far not going to have any impact on the overall result. India will be bowled out or declare sooner or later day after today, leaving them at least a day to take ten australian wickets, or locate themselves at the receiving quit of a file run-chase, which seems not likely given the proof of nowadays. Discover what occurs right here with adam, geoff and that i. Till then, thank you on your organization. Jasprit bumrah and virat kohli have fun india’s strong position inside the boxing day check. 2. 00am est02:00
“hello jonathan,” hello gopal sankaranarayanan. “i find it splendid for kohli to pick to bat once more whilst even ponting said it'd be hard to get 20 aussie wickets and win the match after india’s slow batting rate. , it would had been ideal to take the new ball and get a few wickets via near of play. Plus, an innings defeat would have a demoralising effect at the hosts. If australia pull off an not likely win after this, kohli will have to hand in his captaincy. I gravely doubt dhoni might have executed this.”
1. 58am est01:58
twenty seventh over: india fifty four-five (agarwal 28, pant 6) josh hazlewood bowls the very last over of the day and it begins with bouncer after bouncer at pant. The left-hander nearly gloves the primary, evades the second one, then shovels the 0. 33 to the quality-leg boundary. The period is fuller thereafter with pant nurdling a single into the on-side and agarwal on the crease for a leg-bye. A preposterous day of test cricket comes to a close. 1. 54am est01:54
Tumblr media
26th over: india 48-five (agarwal 28, pant 1) lots of chat from tim paine to rishabh pant at some stage in this lyon over. Count on to peer plenty of stories about it on social media in a be counted of seconds. Something about encouraging the huge-hitter to enroll in the hobart hurricanes, babysitting, and other examples of banter. “liquid gold,” in step with james brayshaw. It nearly has the desired impact too. Pant blocks five lyon deliveries but launching at the final, squirting a mistimed power into the offside. 1. 49am est01:49
Tumblr media
twenty fifth over: india forty seven-five (agarwal 28, pant 0) hazlewood has eased into his paintings after a disappointing start, and a degree of his self belief is more than one well-directed brief balls that agarwal does well to live to tell the tale. He evades the primary then wears the second on his gloves, prompting a visit from the physio.
Tumblr media
1. 45am est01:forty five
twenty fourth over: india 47-five (agarwal 28, pant zero) lyon remains wicketless however he has been the accomplice bowler for both cummins and hazlewood, building pressure, maintaining india on their toes with a spell of very clever off-spin. 1. 42am est01:42
Tumblr media
twenty third over: india forty four-5 (agarwal 25, pant zero) this match maintains to profession into absurd territory. Meanwhile here are two reviews without judgement:
“as i pay attention to shane warne doing his statement, i’m getting a actual feel of why the person became one of the all-time greats to play the sport,” emails sankaran krishna. “his optimism is relentless, his intuition is to assault - assault and attack, and it’s frankly fantastic to listen the man simply consider that the aussies can nevertheless win this one. What’s extra, his damn optimism truly instills fear within the opponent. Actually pretty tremendous,”
Tumblr media
cummins is changed via hazlewood and the change works nearly without delay. Just brief of a great duration outside off stump - standard hazlewood areas - and rohit can’t face up to an ambitious cut shot regardless of the ball cramping him up. The final results is a wholesome area that shaun marsh clutches to his chest at first slip. What a day. Updated at 1. 44am est
Tumblr media
1. 34am est01:34
twenty second over: india 44-four (agarwal 25, rohit 5) lyon has now perhaps overtaken cummins as australia’s finest risk. He’s flighting the ball menacingly into the footmarks outdoor rohit’s off stump and scary a series of uncomfortable inner edges and lbw appeals. Bannerman-watch replace from ian forth: “agarwal is behind at the bannerman duckworth-lewis. When india get to 50, his par bd-l is 34.”
Tumblr media
1. 31am est01:31
twenty first over: india 43-four (agarwal 25, rohit 4) a rare boundary for india, agarwal using tender arms to manual cummins to third-guy off a thick outside edge. Seven overs or half an hour closing in this ridiculous day. 1. 27am est01:27
twentieth over: india 37-4 (agarwal 19, rohit 4) lyon has performed the wingman function for cummins and yet again he continues india on their toes with a teasing over. 1. 24am est01:24
19th over: india 35-four (agarwal 18, rohit three) cummins maintains to charge in, mixing up his lengths, the quick balls maintaining india’s batsmen at the crease, the fuller ones concentrated on the pads. Agarwal survives a loud lbw call, which is ideal news for fanatics of bannerman-watch. 1. 18am est01:18
18th over: india 34-four (agarwal 18, rohit 2) panic is spreading like a fever around the indian team. You wouldn’t think that they had a 326 run lead. The latest display of mayhem is a close to run out, agarwal making his ground following rohit’s annoying call however he would have perished with an immediate hit. 1. 15am est01:15
Tumblr media
seventeenth over: india 33-four (agarwal 18, rohit 1) fantastic amusement. After the attrition of days one and  day 3 has brought in spades. 1. 13am est01:thirteen
sixteen. 2 over: india 33-four (agarwal 18, rohit 1) no hat-trick for cummins, however he wasn’t a ways off! Once more it’s an ordinary delivery on an indian batsman’s hip however this time rohit middles it past the dive of harris at leg gully. Some thing bizarre has gripped the mcg in the last few minutes. Updated at 1. 20am est
1. 11am est01:eleven wicket! Rahane c paine b cummins 1 (india 32-4)
whaaaaaaaattttttt!!!??? Cummins is on a hat-trick! Dross ball, leaking down the leg-facet, but rahane plays an ungainly sort-of-pull that consequences in a glove in the back of the wicket that paine gobbles up without problems. The mcg is bouncing. It’s not game on although, is it? 1. 08am est01:08
sixteenth over: india 32-3 (agarwal 18, rahane 1) this flurry of wickets may not depend a wonderful deal inside the context of the healthy, but they're simply praise for pat cummins who has bowled beautifully all series, especially in the first innings here where he toiled largely in vain. 1. 05am est01:05 wicket! Kohli c harris b cummins 0 (india 28-3)
Tumblr media
what is going on!!? Cummins has kohli for a duck, in precisely the equal fashion as he disregarded pujara. That is bizarre. India’s  most fulfilling batsmen perishing inside the same over, each flicking harmless deliveries directly to the unconventionally located fielder at the back of square on the leg side. Barmy. Up to date at 1. 07am est
12. 58am est00:fifty eight wicket! Pujara c harris b cummins 0 (india 28-2)

Brilliant maiden over. Olly’s returned with some chirp. “i don’t suggest to dominate lawsuits but i will’t sleep so am following the motion. I desired to ask whether or not the aussie government are able to deter the local seagulls due to the proliferation of ducks?”. Photographs fired. 12. 53am est00:fifty three

12th over: india 28-zero (vihari thirteen, agarwal 15) ooh, agarwal receives away with one, scooping an unsightly slog just over short midwicket regardless of aiming to ship the ball wristily through the covers. Lyon australia’s maximum dangerous bowler so far. 12. 44am est00:44
eleventh over: india 26-0 (vihari 12, agarwal 14) the mcg has completed a excellent process of ridding the area of seagulls (specially compared to aami park over the road which is infested with the aid of the blighters on a nightly basis) but one interrupts complaints at some stage in pat cummins’ first over of the innings. 10th over: india 24-zero (vihari eleven, agarwal 13) every other unremarkable hazlewood over sees the rating develop by way of one run. 17 overs left today, eighty mins final wherein to bowl them. Olly, an england fan, is licking his lips at australia’s travails on the mcg. “at the same time as numerous us are off work for some days can we release some sort of collective attempt to invent a time device in order that we are able to pass back (or is it ahead) and play the ashes now rather than remaining 12 months. ninth over: india 23-zero (vihari 10, agarwal thirteen) lyon’s promising opening over did not go disregarded through agarwal who welcomes the australian spinner’s 2d effort by means of lofting a force over mid-on for 4. 8th over: india 19-zero (vihari 10, agarwal 9) hazlewood has tightened his line from outdoor off to stump-to-stump. It’s a miles more productive method, mainly with the abnormal one keeping low and forcing anxious protecting jabs. 12. 27am est00:27
seventh over: india 19-0 (vihari 10, agarwal nine) lyon is invited to discover how stiff his bowling action is following his workload of previous days, and he responds superbly, finding prodigious leap and no little flip, befuddling each openers in a promising over. 12. 24am est00:24
sixth over: india 18-0 (vihari nine, agarwal 9) simply the single from a recurring hazlewood over.
Tumblr media
“jonathan,” sure, paul blundell? “a) could we simply drop alyssa healy and meg lanning within the top order and notice how we cross? B) why is all and sundry abruptly obsessed with the aid of maxwell? Will we simply want every other shaun marsh to hate?”. On factor a, i wouldn’t endorse that approach, but i might suggest as a state all and sundry focussing more attention at the girls’s sport so that the mood of depression is rebalanced. The wbbl that’s on right now, for example, has been tremendous to look at. The latest women’s global t20 became fantastic. As for b, talking handiest for myself, i think maxwell has a expertise ceiling better than most of his friends and while he’s been given the possibility to recognition on red ball cricket within the past he has delivered. Given guide and a clean role i think he could be a successful take a look at cricketer. Unluckily his cost in white ball cricket has continually disrupted his first-class recreation, an impediment genuinely now not helped by being messed around with the aid of a sequence of selectors and coaches. 12. 19am est00:19
Tumblr media
fifth over: india 17-zero (vihari eight, agarwal nine) starc does hit his straps at the least once this over, testing agarwal with a tidy bouncer. Round that the information isn’t so good. Vihari nudging three off his hip, agarwal four off his pads. 12. 15am est00:15
Tumblr media
4th over: india 10-zero (vihari 5, agarwal 5) no alarms but for india with each openers searching confident at the crease and australia struggling to put the ball in the right areas constantly. That is a dispiriting little session for the aussie quicks. 12. 11am est00:eleven
Tumblr media
third over: india 8-0 (vihari four, agarwal four) starc shifts across the wicket and is straight away extra threatening angling the ball into vihari’s frame. Maiden over. 12. 07am est00:07
Tumblr media
second over: india 8-0 (vihari 4, agarwal 4) hazlewood’s radar is likewise skewiff in his beginning over and he also is going for 4, this one much a greater appealing attempt with agarwal striding to fulfill the pitch of the ball and lightly stroking an elegant boundary through greater cover. I without a doubt hope now not.

2016-17 TV Season Recap, Part 1
Previous TV Season Recaps – (2013-14 | 2014-15 | 2015-16) 2016-17 TV Season Recap, Part 2 (Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Legion, Riverdale) 2016-17 TV Season Recap, Part 3 (24: Legacy, South Park, Horace & Pete, Stranger Things)
It is time for my annual TV season recap blog. Check out the links above to previous seasons in case you missed them. Like last year I wound up keeping up with a few too many TV shows so I will split this up into a few parts and link them above. For part one, I am going to focus on the four TV shows I followed based on DC Comics properties. Gotham - If you thought last season of Gotham was off-the-rails, then be prepared for a whole new level of craziness for season three. I do not know where to start. How about with my only real qualm being, like in actual comics is that no one stays dead. Thanks to the science experiments of Hugo Strange (BD Wong), he keeps finding ways to bring back past fallen villains of the show, for better or worse. Yup, the writers found another way to bring back Fish Mooney (Jada Smith) for a few more episodes this season, and she is just as dreadful to endure as past seasons. We do have a few new villains join the fray this season, and if you grew up with the classic animated Batman TV show you will be delighted to see Mad Hatter (Benedict Samuel), Poison Ivy (Maggie Geha) and Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow) join the mix of the ever-growing list of Gotham antagonists. The big foil this season is a blood virus that Mad Hatter unleashes upon the city of Gotham that turns people into blood-lusting lunatics. It affects a number of major and minor players on the show this season and watching them succumb/overcome the disease lead to some compelling television.
Other favorite parts of this season for me are the constant love/hate/love relationship between Penguin (Robin Taylor) and Riddler (Corey Smith). Both wind up playing the political field this season before declaring war on each other to amusing results. Another constant dynamic I enjoyed playing out through the season was Barb (Erin Richards) getting more twisted each episode as she bosses around Tabitha (Jessica Lucas) and Butch (Drew Powell) to do her bidding to middling results. Once again, Ben McKenzie and Donal Logue nail the roles of the two primary detectives Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock. Bullock is now the head of Gotham PD and Gordon starts out as a private detective hauling in baddies on his own terms. His season arc is unbelievable if I lay it all out for you now so you just have to tune in to see it. Finally, David Mazouz is really coming into his own this season as Bruce Wayne. He spends most of the season feuding with the underground Gotham society, the Court of Owls. I loved that comic arc from a few years ago and really dug Gotham’s take on that faction. There is so much more that happened this season and other major characters I have not even touched on yet. It does get to be a bit much to keep track of, but last season I just said “screw it” and rolled with whatever Gotham threw in my face and let the recaps starting off each episode serve as a much-needed refresher. I very much enjoyed this season, and my only takeaways are Fish Mooney and a couple other minor villains that did not hit the mark of the many they introduced this season. Also, if you were following week-to-week like me then it got to be a bit difficult to keep tabs on everything since Gotham took two extended midseason breaks this season and I had trouble recalling if certain events transpired in specific seasons. Grade: A
The Flash - This is difficult to admit, but The Flash lost its way for its third season. Last season introduced Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) into the mix, and he just never clicked with the rest of the Star Labs crew. The writers of The Flash took this criticism to heart and doubled down on Wally this season by having him mope around the first several episodes about not having superpowers like the rest of the team. Then he finally gets powers and redubs himself Kid Flash and instantly becomes annoyingly arrogant. He is scripted to be as gut-wrenching as Spider-Man was in the disastrous Amazing Spider-Man 2 from a few years back. Wally West sir, you hereby are the runaway winner for my ‘dopiest character’ of all of TV this past year. The third season of The Flash also doubles down into exploring the 52 Earths of the DC-Multiverse. If you do no recall from my recap from last season, there are 52 Earths/alternate realities where each one has its own version of Team Flash members. It seems now the writers are getting into a new comfort zone where if they need to write off a certain character they will bring in a new multi-verse doppelganger to take their place. Each season has had a different version of Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh), with season three’s being a very lighthearted, coffee addicted version who calls himself ‘HR.’ HR is a fun addition to the team, but by the end of season three there were so many different multi-verse versions of each character introduced that it got to be groan-inducing whenever they time jumped to a new multi-verse.
The primary villain for season three is the mysterious Savitar. An early season episode shows a flash-forward of Barry’s love of his life, Iris West (Candice Patton) meeting her demise at the hands of Savitar so Barry (Grant Gustin) and the rest of Team Flash spend the bulk of the season trying to prevent that from happening. How they get there and what they wind up doing to try and save Iris is an interesting journey, but it has severe consequences that wound up being a big turnoff and does not have me anticipating season four whatsoever since the ending (light spoilers ahead) essentially implies that the cringe-worthy Kid Flash will be taking over as the new protagonist. There are still a fair amount of decent episodes this season (the annual Christmas party is a feel-good scene that delivers again this season), but I could not help but shake this season as a real letdown. Grade: C Arrow - This is a big redemption season of Arrow after a couple of good, but not great seasons. Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) starts the season as the new mayor of Star City and he still somehow manages to moonlight as The Green Arrow in his downtime. With season four leaving the old Team Arrow in disarray, Oliver recruits several new vigilantes to take under his wing for season five. This reminded me of the not-so-desirable new recruits Gordon was in charge of in season two of Gotham as most of these new characters just did not cut it and they become early cannon fodder for season five’s primary antagonist, Prometheus (Josh Segarra). There was one likeable new recruit though that stayed on board the entire season with the codename Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez), and I dug his story arc as he wound up teaming with Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) for most of the season and the two meshed well together so much that I was always glued to my device whenever the two were onscreen.
Prometheus proves to be one of the major villains that Ollie has ever encountered as the two have several impactful moments throughout the season. They manage to outdo themselves in their final confrontation in a pivotal showdown between the two that had me in goosebumps throughout. Fans that follow Arrow every year know that each episode has flashbacks that lay out what happen each year that Oliver was away for the five years before returning to town in Arrow’s first episode. For the fifth year of Arrow flashbacks Ollie is in Russia teaming up with the Russian gang known as Bratva and his antics there all tie in to how he winds up back at Star City at the very beginning of Arrow. The final flashback scene is another powerful moment that combined with Green Arrow and Prometheus’s final showdown as one of the best season finales in the history of a TV superhero show and capped off one of the best seasons of Arrow yet. Grade: A Legends of Tomorrow - The show featuring the castoffs from Arrow and Flash returns for a slightly more streamlined second season. Instead of focusing on a huge superhero roster of 10, they slimmed the team down to seven Legends this season due to how the first season wrapped up. The season starts off with team captain, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) lost in time and Sarah Lance (Caity Lotz) taking over the captain’s chair to lead the Legends to track Rip down.
Season two has a new team of former Flash and Arrow villains dubbed the Legion of Doom (Whaaaaaaaat a rush!) consisting of Eobard Thawne (Matt Letscher), Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) and Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman). I was a fan of these guys before, so seeing them team up and intentionally ham up the evil villain factor made them the perfect foils for the lighthearted Legends. This was a much improved season that stayed on point better, did not feature love triangle plots that overstayed their welcome and a better group of antagonists. The Civil War zombies episode I imagine will be a hit with a certain audience. Even though they improved a lot this season I would still state Legends of Tomorrow is not a top tier superhero show, as even with a slimmed down roster, there was still a lot to keep track of, and new Legend member Steel (Nick Zano) is a little too cheesy and requires a high tolerance level. Grade: B Past TV/Web Series Blogs 2013-14 TV Season Recap 2014-15 TV Season Recap 2015-16 TV Season Recap Adventures of Briscoe County Jr: The Complete Series Angry Videogame Nerd Volumes 7-9 Mortal Kombat: Legacy - Season 1 OJ: Made in America: 30 for 30 RedvsBlue - Seasons 1-13 Roseanne – Seasons 1-9 Seinfeld Final Season Superheroes: A Never-Ending Battle Superheroes: Pioneers of Television

Heroes of the Fourth Turning . See July 18
Below is the day-by-day calendar of “theater openings”* in July, 2020. The big news is the release of “Hamilton” online at Disney Plus — and (less hyped) the “Freestyle Love Supreme” documentary on Hulu — but in truth Lin-Manuel Miranda’s shows are not all that’s exciting this month in the world of online theater — a world in which “online” and “theater” have been synonymous since physical theaters were shut down in March (though there are small signs this may be changing; see July 13). And most of the other shows don’t require subscriptions.
Among the scheduled delights are acclaimed plays by Pulitzer finalist Will Arbery (July 18) and MacArthur “genius” grant winner Samuel D. Hunter (July 11), as well as a new Richard Nelson Apple Family play (July 1) and a new documentary play about frontline medical workers by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen, creators of The Exonerated and Coal Country (July 8.) There a couple of inventive substitutions for the usual summer theater festivals.
Since so many shows are being put together at the last minute — sometimes not announced until the very day of their launch .. and there also have been fairly frequent last-minute postponements/cancellations/replacements — I will be updating/filling in this preview guide every day, and highlighting the offerings each new day with the link up top. This calendar as of this moment offers a glimpse of what’s in store. Come back day by day for a better look.
Here are some ongoing series that have proven to be reliable sources of art and entertainment.
Four offer live performances (often called readings) of original plays: The Homebound Project Livelabs: One Acts from MCC Play-PerView Viral Monologues from 24 Hour Plays
Play-PerView makes an exception this month to its original plays with what counts as a coup — the live reading of the Pulitzer finalist play “Heroes of the Fourth Turning” (which was supposed to debut last month but was postponed, as were a good number of productions due to the Black Lives Matter protests.)
A fifth offers live readings of classics and recent favorites: Plays in the House, Stars in the House’s twice weekly matinees  and now Plays in the House Teen Edition.
Three offer recordings of previous (glorious) stage productions.
Metropolitan Opera National Theatre at Home The Shows Must Go On from Andrew Lloyd Webber
For details about these and other ongoing series, check out my post Where To Get Your Theater Fix Online  (which lists, for example, the many long-running online sites such as BroadwayHD and Marquee TV that offer video-capture recordings of shows that were on stage)
All performances are free unless otherwise noted, although almost all hope for a donation (either to themselves or to a designated charity.)
*My definition of theater for the purposes of this calendar generally does not extend to variety shows, cast reunions, galas, panel discussions, documentaries, classes, interviews — all of which are in abundance this month, many worth checking out. My focus here is on creative storytelling in performance. (I make an occasional exception for a high-profile Netathon, involving many theater artists.)
A reminder that this calendar lists when the shows “open.” Some are live and available only for that one performance. Others are available for a week or weeks afterward or longer.
July 1

Hamilton Disney Plus Available from this date on. A live-capture of the stage production with the original Broadway cast, which was shot over three days in June 2016. I’ve been watching some newer episodes of Bettys Diagnose, and as expected most aspects are really annoying me, it really doesn’t feel like that good old show anymore. Among the few things I do adore are Talula, Tobi, and their small family (also really looking forward to the new eps that are coming in which they’ll get closer and closer, I really didn’t think I’d ship them as much as I do now!), also the one ep had really good scenes with the von Arnstett siblings, they’re sweet too when they want to be.
But the new people are just annoying, the newer the worse.

Just rewatched that one episode of a German hospital show that had my SE fave gueststar as one half of a gay couple and now I need more of that!

So...finally sent my questions for the SE fave to their PR dept. They said he’d answer the 10 best, I sent them 10 and now hope that he’ll answer at least one...

Well, I picked a wonderful time to get into German shows...
One had only 5 new eps left in the season when I started watching and in its last episode the main actress left (we get a new season with a new main character in autumn, my main reason for watching is still there but the only ship I shipped is broken up).
The other one had a whole new season coming this spring, but now I’ve learned that instead of 16 eps, like in all 5 seasons before, there’ll only be 8 new ones, and 6 are already over.
