Hi Tumblr! Yet another robot trans girl here [vtuber flavored] to bring to you a weird habit I [retrace] have! I like to write poetry in hexadecimal as a way to keep practice with translating it. This one is a bit dramatic I know but this was written not too long after I realized I had an easier time expressing myself when I wrote in hexadecimal! As odd as it is it really worked for me so I ran with it as a venting strategy. I know there's probably some psychological analysis you can do about me actively encrypting my complaints and frustration but I don't really have the time to do that analysis right now...

Anyway you may have noticed the weird comma placement and that was very intentional as this was intended to have rhythm to it like spoken word poetry [or rap] and I thought that was a neat detail to highlight!

What I find so interesting about this is the way it came about... I didn't tell myself I had to do it, didn't provide insensitive, and didn't even know this was a thing I could do! I just kinda did it and I think in a way it makes me feel more confident in myself! There's something so psychologically pleasing about just kinda doing something without any real reason or goal in mind moreso to just do and I think the idea isn't normalized enough. It truly helps with my anxiety in a very big way.

i don't generally bother posting the stuff i knit exactly from existing patterns but i finally wove in the ends on a couple frankensteined socks and figured i might as well throw them up here? they're very dumb but i'm fond of them.

for the first pair i made up a colorwork pattern for the feanorian heraldic symbol, and slapped it together with the pisqu sock structure and toe pattern, and a snippet of a mitten for the sole halves. the yarn is 100g of jamieson's of shetland that i got on the high street of fort william, as a treat after walking 100 miles from glasgow to get there, and i had... maybe 10 yards total left over? i had to cut off the long tail from my cast-on and use it to graft the toe closed on the last sock; it was nerve-wracking. if i did this pattern again, i'd probably put the toe motif in between the two heraldic lozenges, but the first time through i wasn't sure how the math would work out so i frontloaded them. ah well!

the second pair is the structure of an existing sock i've forgotten the name of (worked in the round from the tip of the heel to a hat-like shape with six sides; two opposite ones are grafted together to form the instep and the other sets of two open into the cuff and close into the toe), with the colorwork pattern from the gogink sweater yoke. i thiiiink you could do this with basically any colorwork sweater yoke, but i've only tried it with this one. if i did it again i'd add some short rows to the front side of the cuff; the construction sort of pulls it down so that the heel side of the cuff is higher than the front, and a couple short row rounds would probably level it back out. i like these because they neatly smash the cuff-down/toe-up binary and make everybody mad, and i am at all times an imp of the perverse.

2014 ~ 2024

10 years apart! 10 years exactly from the first upload, in fact! 2014 was a big year for me in a lot of ways, and this drawing has always felt like a time capsule of that era because of how much I experimented with it - I have never been one for drawing backgrounds, any time I do one feels like a momentous achievement, frankly - and how proud I was of it at the time. Apologies for the repetitiveness of the redraws, but they’re genuinely very cathartic and are pulling me out of a pretty serious slump.

got my merged double french braiding down to 11 minutes. and it looks pretty good these days, definitely more centered than it used to be and the intersection is usually acceptable levels of bumpy. at some point i will plateau but for now i'm still improving, and at a faster rate than my hair is growing! (the more hair there is, the longer it takes. though honestly another couple inches doesn't make that much of a difference.)

My bird feeder from Temu!

I finally doesn't have to pour food out on the windowsill, hehe. Putting it together was super easy, no glue required. I specially cleaned a piece of glass on both sides 😝

In one compartment there is barley groats mixed with crushed dried banana, then slightly warm water with added oil and in the third the end of my crushed cereal bar. I put in what I had 😅😊
