it's like. louis attempted to tell this story to daniel the first time, broke down, and attacked him before he could finish it.
and then decades later he's convinced himself that it was leaving the story unresolved that's holding him back from living his life fully now. so he invites daniel back again. and louis is sitting poised and put together, confident in his ability to recite his history in a pretty, poignant, neat little narrative that will resolve all the guilt and yearning and emptiness inside of him. that if he can just tell a compelling, satisfying story, maybe it will actually be that, and not the life he lived through, with all the pitfalls of his own failures lurking inside.
and then season 1 ends with him once again being forced to confront that the story he wants to imagine and the life he actually lived aren't the same thing. the boundaries around his narrative are shredded and he's left exposed, and subsequently able to face his past for the first time since that original interview. and you think, you think, "well this is it. they've crossed the event horizon. there's no use hiding the truth anymore, not after it's come flooding out into the open like this"
and then season 2 opens. not only is it back to the original, practiced distance, we now have armand literally enforcing that distance. a man sitting at the table who's interjections must be disregarded, an intentional interruption to the flow of the story. he doesn't exist to aid or add detail, he exists to distract louis when he gets too deep in the story. the only time we do get louis allowing any deep truth to come out is when armand leaves the room.
it's like. louis wants a story that's true, and the truth is what he's convinced will leave him satisfied. armand wants a story that will satisfy louis, to the extent louis will accept it's true.

3 of them!
The third and final part of turning me and my siblings into demon slayers: my brother! He’s the only one out of the three of us that exercises regularly and actually does martial arts so he gets to be the strongest :P he’s also the tallest, like 10 whole inches taller than both me and my sister but he’s actually the middle child! And he’s only a year and a half older than me :)
For his weapon I wanted something similar to a staff but also containing a blade, because he showed me some staff forms one time for his martial arts club and it was really cool :0 so I’m not sure how viable the twin-blade staff would actually be in battle or how it would be made (but if the sword smith village can make kanroji a whole whip out of a metal blade then I think they can definitely make a scabbard out of metal). The way it works is that when sheathed, the blade is a full staff, and either side individually can unsheathe to make a spear. It can also separate down the middle to become two swords, which is much more effective for traditional breathing styles. Shougen is the only one strong enough out of the siblings to fight effectively without the assistance of wisteria poison.

feel like knowing the difference between a show/movie that has been made for adult consumption but has been totally defanged and sanitised by removing all blood and colourful language to keep the rating down so it can have a wider and younger audience, and a piece of media that was Always made to be consumed by children/young adults and is therefore deliberately made to predominantly work for those age groups, is an important skill for media analysis that many in fandom lack.

I forgot to take a salt pill before I took a nap so I may or may not be able to craft today*, so instead of a tote bag update, would y'all like another pattern? I checked and it looks like I've already scanned the patterns for a hammerhead shark, a round elephant, and the candy corn black cat**
*idk what it is about naps that absolutely tanks my blood pressure if I don't take extra salt beforehand, but today's low is 91/54 so I'm not doing anything like use an iron or a rotary cutter until it stabilizes. I'll be fine, I took salt pills post-nap, I just have to wait for them to kick in
**named that because I made the cat a candy corn dress, but I do not have a pattern for the dress, so it's just a little black cat

Something I love about The X Files is every conspiracy theory and supernatural thing is true. Does cannibalism produce longevity? Of course. Do ancient cat gods exist and have the ability to control feral cats? Naturally. Is the US government covering up the existence of aliens? Of fucking course they are.

is julians baby photo collection like blackmail in the garak-bashir family?
omg i was so immediately charmed by the idea of amsha visiting i had to drop everything and do that instead. cardassians are such sluts for big families and the kids have TWO living grandparents! a wealth! a superfluity of venerated elders!
the bashirs are very confused and a little privately dismayed about the direction their son's life has taken him, at least until Garak is elected the castellan of the planet. and they are making their peace with their lizard grandkids
