Space is one of my most important special interests; I could talk about the complexities of my feelings towards it for hours and, if you were to let me, I'd probably fall in love with you afterwards. IM GONNA CRY HES SO DAMN ADORABLE

I spent my break just doodling this guy, writing out head-canons for MF and doodling him… A lot… So so much. Also a lot of Chopper. I can’t stop :)

So heres a little bit about this boy;

He’s just about the nerdiest of the Sanses, competing with the likes of Jukes (US!Sans). He loves science, but he’s always leaned more towards astrology and geology because he’s a space NERD. He’s not so much of a prankster as the other Sanses, but he’s more than willing to rig up a catapult for pie throwing or go home alone style and set up various traps if asked to help prank someone. Loves comic books, reads them to paps in replacement of a lot of fluffy bunny with silly voices. He’s weak for kisses, literally just wants to sit down with his s/o and be smooched by them and nuzzle back. He’s awkward like Elias (Gb!sans), but Elias is more ‘strong silent type’ where as Atom is ‘oh gosh, I’ve said something kind of awkward and cringy, let me keep talking and hopefully say something that will fix it, oh wait I’m making it worse’. Take him to any of those caves or underground walkthroughs and he gets so excited and asks the guide 20 questions that the guide has no idea how to answer. He’s got some issues from the resets (of course,) but he fights this problems by being near people… Which makes him a little bit clingy despite he’s introverted in nature. He’s roughly the same height as the other sanses, between 4′9 and 5′1. He’s a shortie who wears only the softest warmest clothes. Bless him. 

Oh and he can’t get over how good earth food tastes in comparison to what he assumed it was like: y’know because of those freeze dried foods?

the op of that "you should restart your computer every few days" post blocked me so i'm going to perform the full hater move of writing my own post to explain why he's wrong

why should you listen to me: took operating system design and a "how to go from transistors to a pipelined CPU" class in college, i have several servers (one physical, four virtual) that i maintain, i use nixos which is the linux distribution for people who are even bigger fucking nerds about computers than the typical linux user. i also ran this past the other people i know that are similarly tech competent and they also agreed OP is wrong (haven't run this post by them but nothing i say here is controversial).

anyway the tl;dr here is:

you don't need to shut down or restart your computer unless something is wrong or you need to install updates

i think this misconception that restarting is necessary comes from the fact that restarting often fixes problems, and so people think that the problems are because of the not restarting. this is, generally, not true. in most cases there's some specific program (or part of the operating system) that's gotten into a bad state, and restarting that one program would fix it. but restarting is easier since you don't have to identify specifically what's gone wrong. the most common problem i can think of that wouldn't fall under this category is your graphics card drivers fucking up; that's not something you can easily reinitialize without restarting the entire OS.

this isn't saying that restarting is a bad step; if you don't want to bother trying to figure out the problem, it's not a bad first go. personally, if something goes wrong i like to try to solve it without a restart, but i also know way, way more about computers than most people.

as more evidence to point to this, i would point out that servers are typically not restarted unless there's a specific need. this is not because they run special operating systems or have special parts; people can and do run servers using commodity consumer hardware, and while linux is much more common in the server world, it doesn't have any special features to make it more capable of long operation. my server with the longest uptime is 9 months, and i'd have one with even more uptime than that if i hadn't fucked it up so bad two months ago i had to restore from a full disk backup. the laptop i'm typing this on has about a month of uptime (including time spent in sleep mode). i've had servers with uptimes measuring in years.

there's also a lot of people that think that the parts being at an elevated temperature just from running is harmful. this is also, in general, not true. i'd be worried about running it at 100% full blast CPU/GPU for months on end, but nobody reading this post is doing that.

the other reason i see a lot is energy use. the typical energy use of a computer not doing anything is like... 20-30 watts. this is about two or three lightbulbs worth. that's not nothing, but it's not a lot to be concerned over. in terms of monetary cost, that's maybe $10 on your power bill. if it's in sleep mode it's even less, and if it's in full-blown hibernation mode it's literally zero.

there are also people in the replies to that post giving reasons. all of them are false.

temporary files generally don't use enough disk space to be worth worrying about

programs that leak memory return it all to the OS when they're closed, so it's enough to just close the program itself. and the OS generally doesn't leak memory.

'clearing your RAM' is not a thing you need to do. neither is resetting your registry values.

your computer can absolutely use disk space from deleted files without a restart. i've taken a server that was almost completely full, deleted a bunch of unnecessary files, and it continued fine without a restart.

Okay, I wanna get sth off my chest.

It's about Discord, and why I can't join any OP fandom Discord (yet). I will one day. For now, I think I'd be a bit overwhelmed if I do join.

First thing I want all my mutuals, followers and everyone to know is that everyone here is amazing. Genuinely. You all are awesome.

I can't join Discord for OP fandom yet because of the bad experiences in another Discord in another fandom. They weren't FULL BLOWN bad experiences, but damn, did they make me annoyed.

In short, my friends from that fandom watch One Piece. And they were great and supportive, and we have a thread for One Piece in that Discord server for ourselves. Those friends did not spoil anything for me.

And then I got to Dressrosa, and I typed a lot about Doflamingo cus I loved him more and more.

But my friends... They hate him. Okay, that's fine, I can ignore that. Surely if I respect that they hate him, they can respect that I like him?

(the answer to them for that was no)

They were like "just wait till you see Law's backstory with him, you'll hate him then" etc etc. And that was fine, okay.

Saw Dressrosa Takeover, saw Law's backstory. I mean, yeah, that shit is dark, but what do you expect? It's Doflamingo.

They wanted me to hate him. And after that, after I didn't hate him, but liked him even more, with every damn time I wrote something I consider awesome from Doflamingo, they switched to insulting the character I like.

I never go insulting characters they like, but god they kept doing it for Doflamingo. I got tired of it and just stopped talking about One Piece overall with them. Even with fics I wrote in the "writing thread" they nitpicked them, said "that wouldn't work like that, etc etc" and just... Killing the fun of it? Like... What the fuck.

I want to make clear, these were individuals. Other people were cool with it and ENCOURAGED it.

And of course every time I go "I love Doffy" these individuals come up with an insult for him. So yeah, I dipped. They couldn't respect my like for a character and not be at least considerate enough not to talk shit about him. At first, fine, but it started getting overbearing and fckn annoying. Like, a lot.

I hate plenty OP characters but I would never, EVER think of if I see someone enjoy that character of bashing that character, little less on their thread/Discord/tumblr blog. It would NEVER even cross my mind. Why the hell would I want to do that to someone? Hell, I'd ENCOURAGE them to continue enjoying what they enjoy. Bcs if a character makes you happy, and makes it fun, then why tf would I ever try to ruin that for someone?

It just makes me sick how these individuals (who I still consider friends, I don't think they genuinely meant it to come off as them trying to police me or anything, they said it was getting annoying but like he's one of my fav characters of course I'll talk about him a lot that's what you do with favourite characters they don't go on a rant if I rave about Luffy or Law or Cora) were actively commenting how I shouldn't like this character like it would make me like him less?

Sorry I like interesting, evil, demonic character with an iconic laugh and who is one of the top five antagonists in the most popular manga and was in Top 20 characters in the popularity poll? Like... Wtf.

Anyway, yeah... That's the reason I made this blog (there were 100% other reasons like being a nerd and calculating One Piece things 🤣). I needed a safe space to simp over Doflamingo, the Donquixote Family, Dressrosa and everything. And I'm genuinely so happy to have met fellow Doffy fans on here.

You all are great. Thank you for making this a safe space for me and for enjoying and encouraging my Doffy insanity, and for writing and drawing such amazing fics and art of Doffy and everyone else from Dressrosa.

I feel weightless on this blog, free to enjoy the Heavenly Demon and simp for him and discuss him as much as I want with everyone giving their thoughts and encouraging it.

GENUINELY ONE OF HUMANITY'S BEST PIECES OF LITERATURE???? fuck. i never have the proper words for this fic, but it is SO gripping and the worldbuilding is so tight and their relationship development is so good and the CLIMAX OF THIS HAS BEEN MORE EPIC THAN HALF THE BLOCKBUSTERS I'VE SEEN. i beg you to read this even if you have never watched Pacific Rim. or maybe go watch the movie and get EDUCATED and then read this! i'm begging you, dear reader!!

vii. 'Ingenium' - crandberrycrush

guys i love sci-fi sorry lol. this one is another brilliant fic. OP put so much blood, sweat and tears into research and it shows, it is just very intelligent and the plot itself is HEART RACING and GUTTING and THRILLING. there's a lot of POVs and it really fleshes it out, tho ofc bkdk is the main thing. happy ending obvi! it is the space/astronaut drama that i love and adore, just BKDKified now!

viii. 'The Magic in a Mirror' - totallyrottentomatoes

oh how surprising, a totallyrottentomaoes fic in my faves list. anyone who knows me knows that i rec this fic all the time. it's one of my all time favourites, if not my favourite of all time lol, and it's really because of the writing and the imagery and the characterisation and the relationships b/w all the characters. it's all just so well done and MAGICAL. no joke, if i could print and bind a fic into a book, it would be this one. no notes. perfection. caters to my tastes so specifically. i could go on about this fic forever but i'll shut up for now

also highly recommend 'The Distance Between Suns' by this author - it's a high fantasy epic with TIGHT AS FUCK worldbuilding, brilliantly written, the romance is BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN, the payoffs are amazing, etc... this deserves to be published and revered

ix. 'Battle of the Bands' - roadtripwithlucifer

look i know i always rec this fic, i just can't help that it's like my favourite thing ever. roadtripwithlucifer and totallyrottentomatoes my BELOVEDS. the humour in this fic is so fucking yummy and brilliant, the writing is gorgeous in typical roadtrip fashion, the stakes are gripping, the climax is thrilling, the romance n yearning is INTENSE, the sex is hot as hell, the ending is so satisfying, just..... the whole package.

and while you're here, read other roadtripwithlucifer works like 'Nothing Else Fills' if you feel like destroying your heart :) an angsty and beautifully written time-travel-to-save-my-kacchan-gone-wrong war AU fic. i love OP's works but her more recent fics (eg. after battle of the bands) have had some of her best writing. i adore it when you can feel how an author has poured their soul into their work, you can always feel it in a roadtripwithlucifer work and it's just the cherry on top

x. 'Scar Tissue' - Loriqod

loriqod is another author with a characterisation that i fuck with so hard... this one was so full of that Yearning and Tension that i so vibe with. bonus points to the plots focus on bkdk's scars like yes pls more of that <3

YES omg yes. I've always believed that Keith would just kinda. Say shit? That's how I am in relationships, either I'm very shy or 100% in it for better or worse, and I think he'd be the same. Once he's gone through the pain of confessing (and Lance returns his feelings holy shit what-) then there's no reason for him not to say all the sappy shit, right?

On the flip side, Lance. Big family, lots of love, lots of laughter, and very little TIME. Lance grew up the youngest of 5, which is great until your siblings are all teenagers and working, and your parents are working, and you're 11 or so just trying to get someone to say "you're going to the garrison? Wow!" Lance loves his family. And they love him, always. But sometimes they don't say what he needs to hear. Sometimes they can't be there. So when Lance is feeling down, and his (new!!!!) Boyfriend starts playing with his hair. He melts. Or when Keith gives him that shell and tells him he has pretty eyes.

I also kinda headcanon that Lance doesn't know how to explain this. So after a few weeks of being together, he kinda starts like. Play-groaning and being like "oh my god, Keith, the sappiness, you're killing me" and Keith does not know how to interpret that. Why can't Lance just be honest too? Surely he has stupid sappy feelings, right? Lance would be all over Keith in affection, would have no problem saying I love you, would have no issue spending time with him...

But Keith says "man I never would've been able to lead this team without you" in a loving tone and suddenly Lance is blushing..? That's when Keith figures it out.

Anyways yeah Keith loves physical touch and just spending time together and every I love you is an oath to protect

And Lance is a sucker for words of affirmation, and really just any emotional support, and for him I love you is healing

I feel like Keith and Lance are both ND but in different ways. Keith is the kind of guy who would really like physical contact and words of affirmation as love languages. He's pretty good at telling Lance how he feels about him later in the series. He'd probably appreciate the lack of ambiguity and take things at face value/put trust in I love yous.

Meanwhile Lance grew up in a big family so they might not have had as much money. Receiving gifts was a really big deal for him growing up. I can imagine Keith giving Lance a cool blue shell he found at an alien market and being all confused, thinking Lance doesn't like it when he goes still. Like he wants to take it back and is disappointed that Lance doesn't like it. But he does, he's just a bit overwhelmed by the gesture. Trying to show why he thought getting some silly shell was a good idea, Keith meekly tells him to look at this pretty part of it, turning it over in Lance's hands, pointing out an opalescent part that's all different kinds of blues. Says it reminds him of Lance's eyes.

Lance says something like "How would you know what colour my eyes are" because eye contact is not Keith's forte, but there's no bite behind it, and Keith doesn't get the joke anyway, just looks nervous. Keith just says they're pretty, as if he couldn't not have noticed. Lance puts it down on his side table gently. Keith says "You don't like it?" Lance gives him a super tender kiss. They kiss for a while holding each other, and Keith hugs him, sighing with contentment into lance's shoulder. Says "Holding you feels like home" then Lance dies on the spot

The game will be $50 (they were aiming for $40 but didn't make it) and is co-op but also one player. the game contains 12 dice, 2 books, 5 character sheets, like 40 cards, 6 minis (for painting if you like), tokens and a rulebook. the game will also be available in Spanish. the game includes calibrations hh. they hope to release in "Novemberish"/Q4. it also sounds like they plan to create expansions for it!

it sounds like everyone who played the game at Gen Con during the demos loved it! co-designer of the board game Calvin Wong Tze Loon (who designed things such as abilities and lore for it) shared some insights about the creation of the game, and the feedback folks who played it at the con had, on Twitter:

Just wanted to make a response to this post because op didn’t want to see my replies. Just as op said, depiction doesn’t always mean approval. Just because someone writes about it doesn’t mean they condone it in real life. Lots of people enjoy horror movies with lots of blood and murder, but they’re not bloodthirsty killers in real life.

Someone might be working through their complicated feelings from sexual assault by putting it on their favorite characters. Fiction is a great tool to explore trauma. By putting the victim in control you’re giving them a safe space to heal from painful experiences. In short, It’s therapeutic to get it all out.

You don’t have to have trauma though in order to write what you want. No one owes you their reasonings. So what if they’re only writing it for horny reasons? How would you know unless you had to out every person who has trauma? You don’t want to force victims to explain themselves to strangers. That’s just not good for anybody.

I’ve seen a lot of antis trying to compare proship to propaganda.. which is kinda crazy to me. There is definitely a distinction between political propaganda used by the media and politicians to indoctrinate people into believing certain ideologies for their benefit.. and noncon fic posted on AO3 (A website famously used for the tagging system, where you can avoid fics you dislike) written by a 20 something year old who is into some freak shit. The difference is a willingness to engage with these things.

Conservatives target minorities and push for censorship. (Labeling cartoons that have LGBTQ representation as somehow indoctrinating kids. As if watching a cartoon can somehow make you gay.) They want you dead, whether you’re pro-fiction or anti-fiction, in their eyes you’re still a dirty queer. Comparing the two is wild to me.

Proship means advocating freedom of speech, it means not harassing your fellow nerds. No, it doesn’t mean SA should be legal and okay. No, it doesn’t mean you want to force everyone into reading smut. No, it doesn’t mean everyone should be enjoying fandom exactly the same.

If you don’t like something? Don’t look at it, be responsible for your own internet experience and don’t police others. That’s it.

So weird question- I remember seeing a post analyzing Yusei, Jack, and Crow’s apartment to determine its actual layout and I know I saw it because of you but can’t remember if you were the OP or if I saw it because of your reblog. Was that you originally?

I ask because I’m rewatching 5Ds and I’m in Carly’s death episode and delaying the pain by paying too much attention to her apartment. When we first see her it looks like she’s living out of her car, then when Jack stays over she seemingly has a small one bedroom place, and in this episode the opening scene makes it look much bigger than mine as far as combining kitchen and living room space

And I’m not sure if you are the right person to ask about fictional building layouts

The post you are looking for is this one! And I wasn't the original OP there, but I was the one who figured out the conundrum with the stairs in the boys' apartment. It was a joint effort trying to make sense of that mess. That said, I AM a floor plan nerd and will absolutely start overanalysing characters' apartments unprompted.

As far as Carly's apartment goes, my memory and what screenshots I have confirm your idea. We at first see Carly in her messy car which clearly includes things like a clothesline, but when she invites Jack to crash at her place later, she has what amounts to a one bedroom apartment. Now, I don't know the size of your apartment, obviously, but I'm assuming you're referring to the episode where Carly gets the unfortunate idea to infiltrate the Arcadia Movement. What we see of her apartment there is basically just this:

Wall 1, which holds her whole kitchen plus a washing machine (which makes me realise I described her apartment wrong in Architect, fuck)

Wall 2, with a big window and a couch (presumably either Jack or Carly slept on this while Jack was crashing at her place, and given his personality, it likely wasn't Jack)

And wall 3 to the left here, which is just windows.

What this gives us is a room setup that probably looks something like this:

Orange is all the clearly visible furniture, blue all the clearly visible windows and green is the area that isn't shown. Presumably, since we see no bed in the shots of Carly in her apartment, something like a bedroom and bathroom would have to be by the left wall here, the entrance maybe in the corner next to the kitchen. So it's definitely not a big apartment, but it also doesn't exactly look like Carly's one step away from living on the street.

Dandadan

Studio: Science SARU Manga by: Yukinobu Tatsu MAL Score: 8.53

I loved this one. Absolutely loved it, read the manga and loved it even more. Phenomenal art, absurd story and probably the cutest rom-com duo in an action adventure shounen anime to this date. I don't care if I'm forgetting some duo but they are just it.

While I'm writing this, I realize my english really isn't that good to describe an amazing show like this. I might be overhyping this, I probably am. But it's exactly what I hoped it would be- a refreshing take into the Shounen demographic. Shows like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece have already dominated the industry for years to come yet there are always newbies like JJK, Chainsaw Man and Dandadan that just creep into the limelight and absolutely mesmerize you.

Dandadan is a story about our duo, Okarun (Ken Takakura) and Momo, who are fated to meet each other because of their personal beliefs. Okarun is a nerdy occultist, believing in aliens and outer-space creatures and insists that there are nothing like ghosts or spirits. Momo, on the other isn't a nerd but believes spirits exist due to her Spirit Medium Grandma's impact on her life. They bet each other that what they respectively believe is true and the other one is false. And through a funny turn of events it turns out both spirits and aliens exist in this absurd world. A love letter to sci-fi stories and horror stories, someone wrote and it couldn't be more true. Okarun gets his family jewels (his testicles) stolen by a spirit and now our cute rom-com duo go on multiple adventures throughout their school life to retrieve the said family jewels.

Science Saru is an animation studio I can rely on. Founded by Masaki Yuasa, one of my favorite directors to this day, probably found passionate people for this project. There is a 3 second clip of Okarun transforming into his spirit form that I still remember. It was just 3 seconds and insignificant to the episode, the animators wouldn't be flamed if they didn't animate it like that. Yet it was just so magnificent to look at. The show provided us one of the most amazing anime episodes that it almost didn't feel like anime anymore, it was cinema. A backstory of just one of the random spirits of the world that was emotional and heartbreaking- and I was in tears. It was beautiful. A whole different team and director joined up for that one episode and you can just tell this is a passion project. Did I say that the opening was a banger too?

The characters are funny and likeable, the jokes are refreshing and always land, the romance is also a banger; someone even wrote that this feels like a Shoujo anime disguised as an anction Shounen. Apparently Yukinobu Tatsu's editor made him read a lot of Shoujo mangas to get the idea of a girl's mind. Shoujo romance is better written, I know that's a fact, maybe. What else can I say about this show but that it's a must watch if you just wanna remember how fun it felt watching your first anime. You watch Dandadan and suddenly you are 14 again watching Tokyo Ghoul for the first time. You jump with the op, you laugh and you feel the adrenaline boost. This is not a perfect show of course, nothing is. 9/10, will finish the manga. Waiting eagerly for another season.

Hunter x Hunter: Chrollo speculation

oh shit its the earrings man himself

so i had this thought that i considered doing in my free time but then my free time evaporated and im confused where did my free time go.

anyway. i was going to make a list of all the abilities on the black whale 1 and how many of them could help in a fight against hisoka.

aka who chrollo could steal from.

(this is assuming chrollo is playing convert hands with hinrigh and has gone to the upper levels)

2nd prince camilla's Cat's Name. this. this ability right now. should be chrollo's number one priority once he finds out. and camilla is an easy target. this is a one hit kill with hisoka. if he fuckin steals this ability and uses it, that is gg immediately.

9th prince Halkenburg's Possession Arrow. now you see. THAT. is a spicy meatball. if chrollo can hit the shot, that would be insane. however, depending on if being honest is a condition of using double face, then it will not work. bcs all hisoka has to do is dodge and chrollo dies. but if chrollo is fast enough he could probably hit it and it would only cost one of the remaining troupe members. itd be really fuckin funny if it was illumi though

4th prince tserreidnich's ability. we don't know what it is yet but since tserreidnich is so new to nen he could be a complete dumbass and fulfill chrollo's conditions no problem. though it would depend on how parallel future works if chrollo steals the ability in the altered future or if tserreidnich can even do anything to prevent it. or if parallel future is even his ability because there is a juicy theory out there that it's not.

AND! chrollo would only have to lie once. and that's an opportunity for a very cool scar >:3

hinrigh's Biohazard. this ability could be very useful. however, chrollo will likely never get this ability bcs hinrigh is busy at the moment u-u. that being said, having diversions in a fight against hisoka has proven to be very helpful. consider: grenade squirrels.

yokotani's Battle of Wits. if im not mistaken this is only able to be activated within a certain area of the ship. but it is supremely busted. indestructible objects that can 'remove' a target from the vicinity could be extremely strong. probably not the best against hisoka? bcs hisoka is very slippery and gummy. so if he can get hisoka into that base, it would be great for holding him in place.

those are ones i think that would be useful to chrollo in a fight. there are more in the black whale one but things like Benjamin Baton, Bloody Mary and fuckin. Body and Soul are borderline useless to him. (thats a lot of b names at once lol). Room would also be useless since it requires a set space and is a landmine type. he can't control hisoka that much.
