Marc Spector/Steven Grant, Even though originally a part of Marc, Steven actually has a past life (that’s just his). After a disastrous event damages Steven’s soul, Marc convinces Khonshu to fix it after it becomes apparent that it’s affecting him too(and he cares about Steven). A green light flashes during the process and Steven wakes up with memories (and powers) of his past life as Jonathan Sims fresh after the fear apocalypse. He’s still the same Steven, but with a backbone (albeit exponentially more tired and exasperated) and foreign knowledge. He makes Khonshu sit down and explain the deal he made with Marc. Deems this deal a better one than he was forced into as an avatar of the eye. Defeats Arthur Harrow with verbal manipulation and eye powers. Continues moon knighting with marc until he thinks it's been long enough and forces Khonshu to find another avatar so that he can finally marry marc and live less dangerously.

The dream part of the vacation didn't start until week 4: previous 3 weeks were mostly a mess tho XD

Here is The Mess

The majority of it was like a never-ending family get-together when the house seems too small and too loud at all times. The Leventinis are a huge family: Tony's dad is the oldest of 6 siblings, 5 of them boys, and every single one of the siblings brought their spouse and kids to this house. There were 5 kids at the house at the time, just imagine the havoc! Sophie ended up babysitting them because she was always good with kids: she basically raised her own brothers herself (plus, she was so nervous around the adult Leventinis that she basically hid herself in the nursery with the children). However, two twins are nothing compared to 5 kids aged 6 to 2, and Sophie quickly found herself more exhausted than at work. Nonetheless, she made good friends with the kids, and especially with the only pre teen grandkid, Matt (aka Mattie, aka Matteo junior). She and Mattie found common ground super quickly, because neither of them felt like they belonged. Sophie felt this way because she was the only outsider and not a part of the family, and Mattie didn't feel like he belonged because of his age. His was 12, and already deemed child play boring, yet simultaneously wasn't accepted as an adult by other adults: he was stuck right in the middle. Sophie never condescended to Mattie (and was in fact the only one of the "grown-ups" who called him Matt), so Matt stuck to her like a velcro.

As mentioned previously, Sophie felt really confined around all the other adults. She simply didn't know how she was supposed to act and what was expected of her. She tried to question Tony about it, but deemed his sincere "Just be yourself!" too naïve and idealistic. So she suppressed most of her cookier tendencies around everyone but the kids. Which was quite taxing. It was especially taxing (and barely possible) to try to suppress humorous/sarcastic remarks, because humour is her primary coping mechanism. So sometimes jokes just shot out of her unprompted, and she felt like dying every time they did. She'd mentally beat herself up for not acting "normal", which would make her more upset, which would lead to more uncomfortable jokes, rinse and repeat.

Usually this kind of spiralling was when Tony would step up and broke the cycle, but he was constantly busy with family, while Sophie was mostly hiding away with the kids. Plus, one of Tony's aunts was slowly poisoning the well by subtlety shit-talking Sophie to Tony. This aunt, Louisa, was the youngest of the "parent" generation: only 30 to Tony's father's 54, and the only sister, which meant she was everyone's princess. Her brothers loved her to bits and spoiled her rotten, and she's gotten so used to it that any attention directed not at her was met very poorly. When Tony was born, the first of the grandkids, Louisa decided that he was born for her specifically to play with, and this view of him never changed for her even way into her (and his) adulthood. Because of all that, Louisa was constantly passive-aggressive with all the spouses of her older brothers (how dare they take away the time and love my brothers should have given me!), and especially with Sophie, because she wasn't even the part of the family yet and thus "had no right to retaliate". And of course Louisa wouldn't leave Tony alone during that time, so Sophie didn't even have an opportunity to talk to him about all this in private.

Sophie didn't even feel like she could voice her concerns, not really. First, she felt really out of place. In a different country, on another continent, in a different culture. She couldn't even understand what people were saying to one another because they were constantly speaking languages she didn't know. Plus, Leventinis were a wealthy, well-educated, successful and most of all loving family, and her upbringing was the opposite: came from a rural middle of nowhere, from a poor family, from a broken home. She felt herself to be "underwhelming" in comparison. Secondly, never speaking up about her troubles is one of Sophie's nastier habits even in more comfortable situations. She'd rather stew in her own bad emotions than "bother" anybody. Which has already let her to breakdowns in the past, btw. And lastly... She desperately wanted to make it right. Relationship with Tony was her longest, and definitely the happiest, and she was deathly afraid of not being "approved" by the clan, because she knew how much family meant to Tony. She was scared things will be over between them if she didn't pull off that "scam", didn't convince all of them she was "good for him". Which... Yeah she mostly put that pressure on herself by herself. Nobody (outside of maybe Louisa) needed her to be anything but someone who'd make Tony happy (which, yeah, she already was that). Tony's dad and Tony's younger cousin Gaia especially loved Sophie to bits, specifically because she was funny and dorky. But Sophie panicked, focused on the bad things, and ultimately projected the way Louisa acted towards her onto everybody else.

And there's a whoooole another subplot about the family preparing Gaia's wedding, which also added up more stress and turmoil to everyone.

So things just kept building up, with Sophie feeling more and more on edge, until one day Louisa allowed herself just one too many snappy remarks, and Sophie combusted. The scene between the two wasn't pretty, and Sophie pretty much just ran away dramatically in the rain XD and then she had a heartfelt conversation with a Catholic priest who barely spoke English XD but he gave her a lift to the house, and after a long conversation the situation resolved and all parties obtained a better understanding of each others' situations. Mistakes were made by many, and unsurprisingly it turned out that ALL of the Leventini spouses felt the same as Sophie XD all of them felt pressured into being a perfect inexistent version if themselves, and none felt okay with that. So they threw themselves a Spouse Party in Napoli and got wildly drunk and texted drunk bullshit to their respective Leventinis back home XD

And then there was the wedding, and only THEN the dream part of the vacation started, because Tony and Sophie moved out of the family home and traveled around Italy for the remaining week, seeing the sights, swimming, sunbathing, eating tons of gelato and finally spending time with one another and nobody else.

I love that Elizabeth and Darcy are so ready to effectively tell each other they're full of shit. This happens a bunch of times, but I was re-reading their conversation at the Netherfield Ball and they're both kind of refreshingly Done.

[Darcy:] “Do you talk by rule, then, while you are dancing?” [Elizabeth:] “Sometimes. One must speak a little, you know. It would look odd to be entirely silent for half an hour together; and yet, for the advantage of some, conversation ought to be so arranged as that they may have the trouble of saying as little as possible.” [Darcy:] “Are you consulting your own feelings in the present case, or do you imagine that you are gratifying mine?” “Both,” replied Elizabeth archly; “for I have always seen a great similarity in the turn of our minds.
