the idea that 'tma' cis male drag queens experience more misogyny and transphobia than 'tme' trans men (who actually grow up with the systemic disadvantages that being deemed female as you grow up, and are actuallyy yk trans) imo proves a fundamental problem with the tme/tma dichotomy.
In order for this contradiction to exist you either have to say:
-Trans men hold systemic power over certain cis men (straight up untrue)
-Cis male drag queens are not TMA (doesn't work under the established definition of what transmisogyny is, and is contradicted by every major voice in this conversation)
-TMA vs TME doesn't actually work in terms of systemic power dynamics, and only deals with a subset of transphobia, and is not helpful in its current system of use.

before you make that post about how annoyed you are at all these dumb idiots calling their interpretation of these two characters something like oh idk siblings or family or whatever maybe ask yourself this:
is someone flattening this dynamic using a familial term or trying to invent a reason why no one can ship them OR are you just pitching a fit about someone else’s interpretation of this dynamic (that they’re expressing in their own space and on their own time, maybe sometimes saying they don’t like the ship or it makes them personally uncomfortable) (again on their own time and in their own space) because it makes you feel weird about your ship and you have zero distress tolerance because you’re so used to all of fandom catering directly to you and your romantic ships that any deviation from that - which isn’t even addressing people who DO ship them just expresses the op not feeling the same - feels like something is being taken away and you’re under attack.

as someone in this fandom has already said: i don't need the writers or the plots they write to "validate" my own personal politics. there's a lot of shows and books and movies that are good even though they are made, and therefore display, a multitude of political ideas i don't share.
but to me arcane season 2 is bad because the show completely forgets its own premises. you can't base the whole show on the premise that enforcers are a violent and oppressive force (the literal first scene is them murdering vi and jinx's parents) and then expect the audience to root for them.
same thing with vi's abuse, the writers went out of their way to let us know she was getting regularly beaten up in prison, and then they show us caitlyn hitting her with that rifle - wearing an enforcer uniform - and expect the audience to root for them to be back together in the end???

okay, but, like, THAT'S how you do a villain story. in the FIRST scene, you watch him shoot a man in cold blood. the show tells you right away "this man is not a good man".
but then it gets you to sympathize - look at how much the world has stepped on him. look at how terrible the whole of gotham is. and even when he kills more people, does more terrible things, you still root for him. because it's fun to watch someone be terrible to terrible people. you root for sofia too, because if anyone deserves revenge its her, but you're rooting for both of them somehow.
and then the show tells you "when he was a boy he killed his brothers". but even still, you want to see what he'll do. the show is called the penguin, you want to see the penguin rise. when he lets his mother's finger almost get cut off, you pity him. he's a sad, broken thing. how could he be anything but bad? but he loves, so there must be something else there.
but then. but THEN
the show always told you: "this is the devil". but you thought, maybe the devil can make hell a little more bearable for some people. the devil is so often nuanced, sympathetic, complex. maybe he's like that.
you're wrong. there's nothing good within him and YOU rooted for him to succeed. you wanted to watch the destruction. and now you have to live with the consequences of thinking, even for a second, that he could be redeemed.

If it weren't so sad and sinister, it would actually be pretty funny how a whole generation has reduced an important and thought-provoking concept like intersectionality to a warped version of the Four Yorkshiremen sketch.

I'm so tired of people pretending Jon only likes warrior women. What about his interactions with Ygritte make them think he likes her romantically because she's a warrior and she's unladylike and all that? GRRM said he saw in Ygritte some of Arya's traits, and since he loves Arya, those traits aren't off putting to him. But they aren't attractive to him either. Period. 1) He didn't have much of a choice regarding Ygritte. Would he ever have laid eyes on her if she wasn't so insistent and if his life wasn't at risk? 2) He doesn't like her violence. He felt like a dog while being with her near the other wildlings. He constantly argued with her whenever her values were made clear. He tried to comfort her as a gallant boyfriend when she cried because the wall "tried to kill her" and she punched him too hard for it. He abandoned her because she was ruthless and killed an innocent old man. 3) He doesn't find her attractive at first, when he actually compares her a lot with Arya. He thinks it's silly that the wildlings consider her a great beauty because of her red hair. Like, it looks unbrushed! Things he actually likes about her: her singing, the way his hair shines with the firelight, the way she looks at him, when they're kissing and talking nonsense. That's it. They talk for more than 2 minutes and there's nothing left. They're too different and he doesn't agree with her views on the world. But people are so insistent in denying the mere possibility of jonsa that they look at this mess of a relationship and think "oh yes, Jon walked willingly into this and he would never look at another woman if she's not like Ygritte because she's his perfect type" 😑. And even if he did like her completely and felt attracted to all those things about her, do people really think that humans are only ever attracted to one type of person through their whole lifes? Be for real now.
Nothing but true facts, anon.
Jon's type = not actually violent sexual predators.

What response would you recommend to people attacking shipping? For that matter, what response would you recommend to Hamas doing that thing they did last October, which everyone has decided didn't happen and wouldn't matter if it did? I don't think the current response is good, but the alternative being offered is literally "roll over and die."
We are so far past a reasonable response to what Hamas did in October that “well what would you have done?” feels like a question that’s in extraordinarily bad faith, whether or not you mean it that way. A policy genuinely aimed at preventing massacres like the one in October starts with not illegally occupying territory, stalling a peace process indefinitely, and persistently dehumanizing and abusing a large civilian population—by the time we’re asking “how do you respond to a group like Hamas attacking civilians” we are already in the realm of abject policy failures, because a group like Hamas only exists because of Israeli policies. An honest response would be something like “fundamentally reassess our approach to Palestine.”
But if Israel has the kind of politics, and Netanyahu was the kind of leader, capable of doing that, it’s hard to imagine things getting this bad in the first place. This is one reason it’s important to put pressure on governments like the UK and US to criticize Israel’s actions, because the push for restraint is not going to come from within Israeli politics.

look everyone is entitled to their own interpretation and i am by no means saying the loumand relationship is in any way a healthy one but everyone reading that face down in the coffin scene as louis putting on his "pimp persona" and armand being unhappy about it... are we watching the same show? you think armand can't tell him no?? that man was TURNED ON and tore off those suspenders without hesitation. just like i would if louis would put on his big boy voice like that. yes maître

Not to complain about something 100% trivial, but. I've not yet entertained the thought of drawing davidcest art before due to how very Weird it'd feel to do just that, and yet — seeing everyone get it so, so wrong and backwards almost frustrates me enough to just grab the fucking pen and do it myself.

Been big into trans guy x cis guy recently, which is a massive surprise to me bc I usually rlly dislike most of the content ppl make abt that specific dynamic (eg: trans guy small and is pre everything and basically a woman and a bottom and shit, cis guy big and strong and Has A Dick or whatever), but there's smth very cool to me abt a trans guy being in a relationship w a cis person who genuinely and wholly sees them as a man and treats them as such, no matter what their physical transition status is. It's very healing as a guy who's dated people who I know only viewed me as "nonbinary at best," if not just a woman, and expected me to fill a role in a lesbian relationship with them

when youre watching a show that is so deeply about humanity and the intricacies of relationships between all the characters and the only way you interact with that show is by looking at every single character purely as a representation of their social standing, youre going to basically have the worlds worst understanding of those characters, their relationships, and the show as a whole.
