also in the face of people deleting their blogs, that's another reason why you guys are supposed to reblog stuff. if somebody deletes a post, your liked version will disappear, but the reblogs remain. i'm insane about preservation and archival, every single piece of art i have ever enjoyed is reblogged on my 450k+ posts main account so if the artists leave I still have their work. i even tag things (though just with the main fandom tag) so I have years and years worth of fanworks saved that the terrible general site search will never show you.
please reblog art. not just to support the artists who make it and share their efforts, but also so you have your own copy of their works saved for yourself, and the future users of this site.

Man, I miss the internet when you could just freely browse all sorts of niche blogs and fan sites without having to have an account anywhere... There was so much to explore! Now you need to have an account with Instagram and Tiktok before they'll let you see anything, or it's locked behind a paywall on someone's Patreon.
We used to "browse," like we were wandering free in a big pasture, and now it's a "feed," where someone keeps shoveling stuff into a trough in front of your face and you have to keep choking it down.
I miss "Free Range" internet is what I'm saying, I guess. Not this Content Factory Farming crap.

#I used to think I was bad at remembering names but? I'm really not actually#my problem is linking them to a physical appearance...#my brain just kinda tosses most faces in the same bin. I can remember other traits but they typically take a while to memorize#which sucks because at that point it would usually be weird for me to admit to the person that I don't know their name.#I'll just have to hunt down their instagram or whatever#it usually goes something like: I meet someone -> they tell me their name ->#i have not yet had the opportunity to observe their non-face traits and thus have nothing to anchor that name to -> annnd it's fucking gone#-> I learn to recognize them by dress/body type/behaviour/interests or w.e -> but I can't go back and link that to a name#-> the horrors#kitchat#anyways. i'm always going on about how bored i am by limp and sterile performances by actresses with frozen pretty clean dry perfectly groomed botoxed faces in movies and tv, zero eyebrow action being considered good acting because its allegedly subtle, like expressionless and impassivity is somehow genius acting (i am looking at u anya taylor joy in the menu 2022 but that's just a recent example off the top of my head) and the worst part is once you see it you can't stop noticing it everywhere and it drives me absolutely bonkers. and bella ramsey does such an outstanding job of conveying intense emotion while playing a character that actively schools her face into hardened emotionless detachment (so does pedro pascal but this imo is more noticiably a gendered issue) you can see it in the their face wrinkled and twisting with terror and tears and sweat and snot and blotchiness when ellie realizes she's been bit and you can see it in the blurry glimpse of their flushed sad shocked hurt face when ellie falls after joel pushes her away and when ellie kisses riley and is cycling through all stages of grief it's there through every second of their performance even when ellie, the character, pushes it down. they are objectively a very pretty person but they are not afraid to be unpretty in their acting and it is sooo refreshing and rare. the downside is that when you see legitimate talent all of the other performances start becoming so noticiably lacking
