What do you think their scents would be like? Also, for fanfic purposes, how quickly do you think House would go into pre-heat after meeting Wilson (for context, I have a headcanon that if an omega who's been alone for too many heats meets what their more primal part of their brain decrees a potential mate, they go into heat early)

given how often medical workers have to sanitize for the safety of their patients, house and wilson probably have a decent amount of Clean Sterile Smell that lingers on them -- the ducklings too to a lesser degree probably. it's part of their scents but it's just because of their job so if they took a vacation it would fade after a while.

i imagine wilson would be like.... citrus-y. idk why but i'm getting orange vibes. citrus, and warmth. like a candle. yeah.... (zones out for a long time)

house.... i was thinking about this earlier. his disability affects his mood, and mood affects scents, so sometimes he smells more appealing, but on bad days you can almost taste his distress if it gets bad enough. sour, bitter notes more on your tongue than anything. otherwise he's fairly earthy, like a dry summer day, a little woody.... like a jogging path in a park. maybe even a little like artificial strawberry sometimes if he's really been gnawing on some suckers at ppth.

wrt the next question + your headcanon: ummm yoink! canon 4 me now. what if that was part of house finding wilson "interesting"? that specific word is vague enough to mean nearly anything, yet kind of a key word in the life of greg house at the same time. what was interesting, exactly? what if it was that hindbrain at play? something about this adorable alpha twink kicked some of those squashed and atrophied omega instincts into gear without house even realizing at first. it doesn't hit him until they actually talk a bit way later after wilson got bailed out that, oh, right, that's a thing that happens.

50/50 on if house keeps it to himself or if he casually propositions wilson like right there. they're at whatever hotel was booked for the conference and house says right as wilson is taking a drink, "huh. i think i'm ovulating. wanna do it?" and wilson nearly chokes to death

Inej: Blows out the candle to be greeted by the sudden darkening of the room, to watch the smoke curl up in a trail of swirls and dances, free and reaching, the smell becoming a wave to alert all of the death of the flame. A sharp, noticeable absence.

not to be dramatic but getting myself a wax warmer was one of the best things I've done for myself in terms of 'little things to make myself happy' I am terrified of open flame in the house due to past life events but really love scent as something that can soothe and calm and idk I just love that I can fill my house with scents I like and that are soothing but there's no fire and I am focusing on more like this for 2024. Welcoming little simple things into my life that I may have said 'no, that's frivolous' to before.

do you ever just want to acquire scented candles for that sweet sweet aesthetic but then realize you'd just end up having a massive headache bc you can't do scents and then just look at the candle section longingly bc you just want to experience a campfire or a mysterious forest or a morning dew or a winter magic or an ocean spray in your house

Found another “duplicate” Disneyland scent!

Do you love Haunted Mansion Holiday, or at least how it smells?  Do you have a Walmart near you that has candles on post-Christmas clearance?  Then go ahead and get yourself this candle:

“Fresh Baked Cookies” from Walmart’s store brand Mainstays.  It smells VERY close (in my opinion, identical) to the gingerbread cake-bedecked ballroom at Haunted Mansion Holiday.  I found it for only $3.75 too, which is a lot less than most Disneyland copy scents will set you back. (Heck, even its pre-discount price of about $8 is less than most of those I’ve seen)

Also, if you use wax melt air fresheners instead, I posted before about the Test Track 1.0 scent dupe I also found at Walmart, Scentsationals “Take a Hike”.  It does NOT smell like hiking, but it DOES smell like the original version of Test Track.

I have Pavlov’d myself over the years into a writing routine, wherein when I make a cup of tea, light a candle, and turn on music it is Writing Time

The down side of this is when I do not have a candle writing becomes harder, which really sucks because I do most of my writing at work these days, a historical building where I 100% do not and should not have a candle
