Had a great idea because I'm a genius and also so sick im basically on drugs
Imagine a big event for cosplayers, lasting maybe a few weeks or a month, and taking place in a space where nobody not participating can access. An area with rooms to stay in, stores, etc, like a little town for cosplayers.
And for the event there's a list to ensure each cosplay only has 1 person for it. So no double cosplays. And the main rules would be
1) no exiting the event space unless it's for an emergency
2) you gotta do your best to stay near other cosplays from whatever show/movie/book/musical/whatever
3) Do your best to stay in character when on camera & just for funny stories
The event would be recorded both by participant and host, but there would of course be certain areas nobody could record in for people who need a break.
All complex cosplays that get uncomfortable or dangerous to be in for prolonged periods of time have to have secondary "simple" cosplays like Shaggy from Scooby-Doo to change into for their own safety when needed. Nobody would be expected to sleep in cosplays or spend time in them in areas where recording is banned, this event would circle firstly around a bunch of cosplayers showing off and having fun together on a cool vacation & secondly around viewers entertainment/content opportunities.
Idk I just thought it sounded like a fun idea:3

when toshiro got on laios ass for being inconsiderate and never thinking about how his actions affect others like he was mean abt it but hes not wrong. Thats a pretty major character flaw and a pattern of behavior for laios — w not choosing jobs that made money for namari who is in a pretty dire financial situation where she cant even get off the island and has to go adventuring in the dungeon to get out of debt, who even explicitly brought this up, eating marcilles familiar immediately even tho she was attached to it, kidnapping shuro into his party and putting him in life threatening situations without like really checking he wanted to be there…?, wanting to see if izutsumi has more than one set of nipples when dehumanization is a HUGE huge issue for her the list goes on and on and on. Like when a friend does this to you its just kinda annoying but when ur the leader u really should be checking if everyones needs r met without them telling u. Like the autism plays a factor for sure, his cultural upbringing plays a factor for sure, but as ppl regardless I think u gotta step up to meet the needs of ppl in the moment or realize u shouldnt be calling the shots. just bc its influenced by factors out of ur control does not make it not a serious character flaw. And its written as such in the story.

anyways the thing about tim & wealth is that it's not so much relatable on account of how well off the drakes are, but it is interesting. to me.
so, like. the drakes are well-off from their inception, yea. but like. they're so clearly implied to be new money esp considering the 80s when they were conceived with the stock market bubble. like the excess of the million dollar jet screams ppl whose business really boomed in the 80s and they were going to flash their gains. the facade of the new money with the mention of the jack buying an erte litho...the flashiness of owning nice things, but those things were still just a facsimile of the real thing....multiple apartments...buying a home completely in cash....but then a few bad investments is enough to wipe out most everything...god the fanon of drake industries being an unshakeable old titan like wayne enterprises is so uninteresting to me because drake industries was such a volatile company. it almost got wiped out by phil marin embezzling from them...pls see my vision it was a small but fairly stable family company that hit it big & could not sustain itself like that forever...tim's canonical issues with worrying about money & the idea that he was well aware that the company his family owned was always teetering on the edge. good years were good. bad years could mean they could lose it all. tim doesn't worry about food on the table and the roof over his head, but he does worry about the years they're in the red...his parents fights worsen when the company has a poor year...his dad thinks they should take a risk, his mom thinks they should be cautious...they don't fight about it in front of him, they don't want their son to worry about their finances, but he knows despite that...if the company doesn't make it, what will happen to them....he is 8, it isn't his responsibility, but he feels the weight of it in the background all the same...

hey. if you're a live tapes enjoyer, do yourself a favor and go listen to the 03-01-2024 Grace Cathedral solo show tape. i listen to a lot of live tapes and this has hands down the most breathtakingly gorgeous acoustics I've ever heard. the way the church echoes is absolutely ethereal and the performance is haunting and beautiful. this tape is one for the books, for sure.

headcanon for sydcarmy that I've had for months now that i was reminded of rewatching Fools Rush In yesterday (rip Matthew Perry) and reading @ambeauty 's new fanfic.
i love the unplanned pregnancy trope with them and also the idea that they would do every milestone backwards or hit them super fast in terms of their relationship. hear me out
what i love about sydney and carmy is how intense they are about each other while not knowing each other for that long. carmy spends braciole acting like a heartbroken widower and ends the episode by planning on revamping his family restaurant with a girl he's only known for a couple months. the restaurant dream he thought died with his brother, the person he loved the most (woah). while sydney is her most emotionally vulnerable with a guy she barely knows (and physically too, i.e the hug after the fire suppression test and the table scene) and constantly gives him second chances when he doesn't deserve them.
they are weird and intense about each other even with all these platonic and professional boundaries they put in place.
in my mind that is rotting from tumblr and ao3, when those boundaries disappear they will do the relationship shit on speed drive. oops they get pregnant after a few months of dating or a situationship. whats having a baby when you have a restaurant? they are already the mom and dad of the bear!
they would elope randomly on a tuesday afternoon after dating for a couple months bc they practically eat sleep live and breathe each other every single day anyways? carmy tells syd he doesn't want to wait when he already knows she's it for him. syd says he's crazy but she may just be crazier for agreeing (also grew up with hearing her parents love story who got married super young and fast so why cant she?)
oh they just started dating a few days ago? syd moves in or they start looking for new places. shes already here all the time when they menu plan. carmy already buys her fave snacks, subscribes to a couple streaming services for the first time bc syd loves to binge-watch shows, and has a couple of her scarves laying around.
and i love that this could go really bad, how intense and how much they love each other (bc im an angst enjoyer) or most likely really great bc these two losers want to practically live in each other's skin and make each other better.
side note: after watching fools rush in again...need a sydcarmy au bc the premise of two people from different cultures, values and perspectives foolishly rushing into a big thing like opening a restaurant having a baby is so them!

ultimately. the thing is. we can and should always discuss how gender essentialism is harmful & we can talk about the exceptions to the rules and how the patriarchy hurts everyone. but I think that losing sight of the fact that gendered socialization and oppression is in fact a real thing that exists is ALSO. incredibly harmful.
when we jump down people's throats for complaining about men or cis people or straight people without adding a million caveats.... we are doing harm. like idk how else to express that really. but like. please. let's just relax. let people complain about broadly oppressive groups without adding a million disclaimers. it's okay. it's healthy to vent about those things. they aren't actually holding cis men by the throat and threatening to kill them, they're making a post on tumblr dot edu that says "ugh cis men suck" I promise it's okay

Jack: Yeah, he-he wasn't all bad, my dad. Uh, that's what makes our parents loom so large in our heads, I think. They're… a million things to us all at once.
And even after they're long gone, we're stuck with them. Can't help it. They're inside of us. You know, my whole life, I promised myself I'd be nothing like him, but…I ended up just like him.
Kevin: No, Dad. You're way better than him.
Jack: Thank you, my son. And you're gonna be way better than me.

One thing I really love about Pentiment is that like. For one thing it's very easy to play a very straightforwardly kind, compassionate, sympathetic Andreas who listens to the concerns his friends in Tassing are voicing and tries his hardest to do right by everyone and volunteers to help people a lot. As someone who always worries games are going to force me into making choices I don't want to (or that certain dialogue options will turn out to be harsher than I expected) it's sort of funny that Pentiment, a game that is about forcing you to make difficult choices, at least always let me feel good about Andreas' internal motivations and relationships with others, even when there were sometimes really upsetting consequences in-game.
(And of course, the idea that he's a good person trying his hardest and yet a lot of things go wrong for him and others over the course of the story is one of the things that sends Andreas spiraling, so this is very much something that's woven into the fabric of the game)
But I know on our first playthrough, we chose some of the background options that felt like they specifically lent themselves to that, which lead to playing a very like...polite, bookworm type Andreas. Who I adored as a character obviously, but figured was very specific to our run.
Anyways, I've enjoyed learning that while there are certainly background and dialogue choices that lead to him being brasher/more abrasive and some decisions that cross a bit of a line for me personally (there are a couple suspects I could never accuse, even with solid evidence and I know it's possible to make him a more unsympathetic to the peasants), even some of the more "unsavory" sounding background options really don't lock you into that at all.
I'm specifically thinking about the Rapscallion background because that's what the streaming gang had me choose but I love that the description for it is like "Andreas does CRIME and gets in FIGHTS"
And then in practice a lot of the options it gives you are like
"I'm going to STEAL MONEY from a wealthy abbey to help the NICE PEASANT FAMILY I'm staying with PAY THEIR TAXES!!"
or "I'm going to THREATEN YOU because you are cruelly and unfairly accusing my good friend the SWEET ELDERLY MONK!!"
And when you pair that with certain actions that he takes regardless because they're baked into like the plot or cutscenes, or certain actions he won't take or people he won't agree with because the game never even gives you the option, plus some of the other most popular dialogue choices it's like
Yeah this man does feel a bit like the antithesis of an edgy protagonist
