Hey so sorry if this somehow feels uncomfortable, but I'd really like to thank you for being like, very compassionate in how you portray Machete. I don't know why I feel so strongly about this but as someone who has been dealing with the fallout of religious trauma and other such problems, it really affected my ability to deal with sexuality and the overwhelming almost instinctual self-hating shame that comes with that. It's something I'm so absolutely ashamed of talking about even with close friends, it actually makes me a bit emotional to see that someone, who might or might have not been through the same, understands how it's like. It's one of the great things about art. Anyway sorry for the long ask, you're great, keep being so strong.

STAR WARS: Eleventh Fleet AU

Hey-hey, I worked, caught a cold, got sick and that’s enough… …so, concept art for the Eleventh Fleet.

Ar'alani and Vah'nya's designs are fairly simple, but the problem with them in particular, and the Chiss in general, is their clothing and style. There are many official references, including those from Legends, but each artist still has his own vision regarding, for example, the shape of the fleet. Somewhere there is a strong homage to the design from the old canon, somewhere it was modernized, and in the latter they added the same “honor's chains”, which look a little strange on the laconic form. It seems to be in the Chiss style, but very impractical.

As a result, I am reworking the design of the expansion and defense fleet uniform, but more on that another time. Let's return to Ar'alani and Vah'nya.

At the beginning of the events of the "Eleventh Fleet", Senior General Ar'alani on his flagship "Vigilant" is increasingly confronted with the Grysks. A year will pass since her last meeting with Thrawn, when the invaders of the Ascendency space will openly attack the Chiss ships.

Such cat and mouse would continue for another year until the disappearance of another Night Dragon class war cruiser, subsequently leading to disaster in the heart of the Chiss Ascendancy. The Senior General will be one of the few superiors who, along with Ba'kif, can survive. Much of this will be down to Vanto and Ronan - unaccounted for variables in the Grysk's plans. The trust placed in Thrawn's "alien protégés" paid off in full.

The Senior General was often accompanied by Senior Navigator Vah'nya. "Vigilant" almost always accepted missions to search for missing navigators. Vah'nya not only guided the ship through the stars and darkness of outer space, but she was much better at rehabilitating rescued navigators, as well as leading the other navigators on the ship. Friendship with Eli played an important role in this.

Because of her "anomaly" as a Navigator who hasn't lost her powers into adulthood, many of the regulations and rules simply don't work for Vah'nya the way they do for other girls. And to be an “anomaly” for Sindikure is a very subtle walking on the edge of a charrik. And yet, to the dissatisfaction of some aristocrats and syndics, the girl manages to balance on it for quite a long time.

Because I’m not entirely sure that I’m right, but I really wanted to think about what this gorgeous grandpa would have looked like during the Thrawn. Ascendency Trilogy. And I also reworked his “chains” and other form elements quite a bit. And yes, I’m more than sure that Thrawn adopted Ba'kif’s “style” in his time.

...but that only makes it worse, because the regret may feel unbearable right now, but the choice back then was way too easy. It hurts, it hurts a lot.

Because no matter the circumstances, was Cir not abandoned by this man? The man who was supposed to keep him safe? Who was supposed to protect him from any possible dangers out there?

But one thing is for sure, right now in the midst of all that is going on, Cir doesn't want to forgive and forget. And that's his choice. The one choice he can make.

i hate the fact that no one but neil and mr keating knows that mr keating told him to tell his father how he felt, to ask permission to do the play, to wait until he was 18 and he would be free if he didn’t get it. their relationship is so important and he was the only adult who truly tried to save birl, but neil felt hopeless. nothing keating did made neil’s situation any worse than it was, he really just gave neil the best few last months of his life, whether he would’ve died or not in the end. his life was ending, his control over himself, and who he was living for, the realisation that any of it would be in his interest or for him would mean the end of neil’s hopes and dreams. he would become a lifeless shell, a pawn in a game. he already was one without realising, but the rules and borders were about to come crashing down on him. it was only a matter of time and neil would be dead one way or another. no one acknowledged this, the adults i mean, because that would mean accepting some level of blame for their hand in neil’s decision to commit suicide. they know it was their fault. but they can’t even fathom considering that thought or letting it fester into guilt. neil wasn’t the first, and he wouldn’t be the last. it had nothing to do with keating. the second mr perry said “i don’t care if the world ends tomorrow night, you are through with that play” neil’s world had ending. him saying “that silly acting business, because you can forget that” was the final nail in the coffin, and him leaving neil in his office without another word was practically handing the gun to him. this situation is complex, but mr perry, mr nolan, no matter how they felt personally, how much they didn’t want this outcome, they could’ve lived through this scenario 100 times and still reached this outcome, because this way of life in ingrained into them and they weren’t going to change, not for neil, not for anyone. it is entirely their fault. and anyone like them, too. and don’t forget, they aren’t just characters, they represent real people, real ideologies and systemic issues within society that have caused the same outcome for a long time. neil is just one casualty, but he represents them all. and i wont feel sympathy for the adults involved. but i could never blame mr keating, the poets, neil, or his mother (which is an entirely different topic).

i think it’s noteworthy that parker finds a way, multiple times, to pretend to be with hardison in a con. she kisses him in the first david job, she pretends she’s meeting him to have sex in the wedding job, they pretend they’re getting a marriage visa in the zanzibar marketplace job, and they act like they’ve been making out in the jailhouse job. and i can’t think of a time that she’s done that with any of the others?? tell me if im wrong but i don’t think she’s fake-made-out with anyone else, at least.

i mean, parker stabs or breaks the fingers of guys who flirt with her or touch her. yet in the first david job she kisses hardison. in season one, when she’s still so resistant to touch and her heart is so guarded. its just for the con, of course. but a fake kiss, something she can easily write off - that’s all she can do at that stage. she can’t offer her heart, she won’t let herself get attached, and really it takes until the long way down job (ie season 4) for her to start accepting that she is capable of loving and being loved. in season 1, when she was entirely closed off, a fake kiss is all she can do with her feelings for hardison pretzels. she keeps taking the opportunity to kiss him or be together, without the consequence of Having To Talk About It and all the problems she knows would come with that. her method of coping with Emotions is to let herself get into a bunch of mini fake dating AUs with him lol.

i think its worth bringing up because ive mentioned how sweet hardison is with her, and we all talk about how much he cares for her and shows patience and understanding, but its certainly not one-sided! parker’s enamoured with him since pretty early on. her way of showing it is just different and somehow both far less and way more direct lol. they both put effort into figuring each other out and learning to be in a relationship, not to mention that trying to be capable of a healthy relationship with hardison is one of the biggest driving forces behind parker’s character growth. he’s so important to her (and they’re so important to me <3).

I think it’d be fun to write a one shot where Telemachus keeps waking up in the middle of the night bc he senses a disturbance and there’s a massive dark shadow looming directly over him and it makes him panic every time bc he thinks it’s a suitor come to kill him.

But no it’s just his no-longer-lost father watching him sleep at night the way he never could when Telemachus was a baby. Also bc Odysseus has paranoia and PTSD and can’t rest if he fears something bad is going to happen to his family. So he counteracts this dread by choosing to not rest via watching his adult son sleep (bypassing Telemachus’ locked door and his shuttered windows)

Telemachus: “Dad… you can go back to bed now. I’ll be fine, I promise.”

Odysseus: “No, it’s okay I don’t mind being here.”

Telemachus: …

Also Odysseus is armed with a bow and arrow and an unsheathed sword.

Also also, sometimes Telemachus wakes up and his father is naked because Odysseus woke up from a nightmare where he failed to save his son in time and him being naked helps him feel more in the moment, like he’s reliving the night he slayed all the suitors. Plus sometimes he gets night terrors and wakes up all sweaty so he takes off his clothes.

Telemachus, still trying to gently encourage his naked dad to give up and get some rest for once: “Father, you must be so cold! Why don’t you wrap yourself in this long thick blanket and come rest next to me? The morning sun is still a long ways off and a king needs his strength.”

Odysseus: “I would rather not. Please don’t mind me, Telemachus. Go back to sleep.”

And then he gently pushes Telemachus back into bed and tucks him in. His 20 y/old son.

Went back to compare shima-ujie interactions

It’s interesting how the words revolving around Shima and Ujie when he was practising volleyball in chapter 41 compare to what their interactions this chapter(61) were.

Shima had said before how he couldn’t get angry before bc he couldn’t empathise, but here he is, clearly upset. He’s come far from the kid who wouldn’t bother getting upset bc ‘it’s not worth it’. What specifically changed though?

Let’s compare to Mitsumi in the past. She was upset in chapter 41 when ujie told her to stop playing a good person, bc it means something to her to look out for other people, and she values it. She could empathise with ujies pain and yet he treated her with disdain in response.

Shima however didn’t care at the time. But now, he’s finally learning to look forward and go after what he wants, so when ujie says what he does, it hurts him. It’s like a dismissal of what he’s working toward, but it scares him bc it’s also a feeling he empathises with.

Ujie says here he probably doesn’t understand that. But Shima got mad bc he DOES UNDERSTAND, it’s a point of contention for him that he just can ‘play along’ in whatever way to please others. He wants to change that though and Ujie hadn’t recognised it.

There’s also the case of how he still holds in a lot of self-hatred for the type of person he is, imo. He finds it incredibly hard to be ‘selfish’, and it’s already taken so much for him to chase acting again, but there’s always this worry that he’s just taking advantage of the people around him. Even though him pursuing this doesn’t logically hurt them at all.

In the end though, when he does talk to Ujie again to explain what he thought, it comes back to the words of assurance he himself gave Ujie in chapter 41

Because since that chapter he DOES know what it’s like to try hard for something, he DOES care about the role he worked towards, it’s NOT a role he stole from someone more deserving. And in the end, it resonates with Ujie too.

The updated ui on the tumblr app for ipad is seriously making me want to delete the app off my ipad entierly, honestly. And that's saying a lot considering how long I've been on this hellsite.

At least with the phone update there's still a navigation pad and icons, but this slider bar on the ipad version? It's terrible design. For one it sits at the top of your screen. There's nothing on it, no symbols or writing to help guide you, instead you're just clicking to move to the next 'thing' rather than selecting what it is you want to see / need. There are no notifcation updates to tell you if you have replies, reblogs, messages, whatever - and it's just not user friendly in any sense of the word. I feel for those who struggle with ui's on a good day, because this one is terrible and does nothing to help make naviaging easy.

I've disagreed with a lot of tumblr decisions in the past few years, but this one is a huge misstep. Whoever was in charge of designing it did not even think to consider its effect on the userbase, and I've never known such a terrible system implemented to a website. That along with the forced introduction of the tiktok-ification of short form video content sitting badly with users, it's easy to see why people are upset.

Tumblr, you're struggling as it is. Listen to your userbase rather than driving them further away. Stop trying to make changes that are negative for everyone, and start fixing the damned things on this site that need addressing - like the disgusting/inappropriate ads we keep getting, the bots, the way community posts keep appearing on dashboards of those who aren't even in said community.

The more I think about it, the more I really want to know how Tetsuji managed to keep the fact that the Ravens are a cult under wraps, considering that even Neil was having trouble functioning normally after only 2 weeks.

Like, it isn't even the physical abuse that causes the biggest problem. It's the 16 hour days, inability to do anything other than exy, social isolation, and the dictated nutrition and choices. They learn none of the skills that a typical young adult learns in college- cooking, cleaning, time management, money management, networking, etc. Not all of the Ravens can be rich enough that that sort of thing just doesn't matter. They basically get dropped into the world after college with no idea how to get a place to live, feed themselves, pay bills, or anything required of an adult and with no support network to help.

And including the physical abuse, all of these athletes suddenly have to have a miriade of health problems due to over-exercise, lack of sleep, violent playing styles, and I'm assuming physical abuse from Tetsuji and/or Riko.

All of these athletes are apparently signing with pro teams and there can't be that many that they only have one or two athletes a piece. We know from Lucas that the drastic change to their personalities is very noticiable to anyone who did know them and they're mentally unstable enough to off themselves after being forced to leave the campus, so how has no one noticed that all of the players that get signed from this one college team are barely functional, incredibly mentally unhealthy, and insanely violent?
