I love Rick Riordan but gods keep that man away from celtic mythology. I dont even wanna know what he'd do to HALF of the gods there.
Do not let that man cook! DONT EVEN LET HIM IN THE KITCHEN.
I only rest easy because ToA states that most of the celtic gods have faded so he'd either have to say that Apollo was wrong or make a new universe

there’s something about watching someone not suffer stoically. not gritting their teeth and setting their jaw and just. taking the pain. taking the hit after hit after hit. but crying and weeping and being unable to bear it and begging for help. please god anyone help. reaching out a shaking hand and there is no one there who reaches back. the awful disgusting human desperation of it all

Listen to the Audio Previous Chapter | Next Chapter
Read The Story Index | First Chapter | Current Chapter
It's only the second chapter but by far this is one of my favorite ones. This recording session actually ended up significantly shorter than Chapter 1 cause I've reread this one so many times. XD
The Art of Love and War is written by @fireflywritesgt and the audio reading is recorded and posted with permission.

The Morrigan, Irish god of war, battle, crows, and death. One of the first of the Tuatha dé to be born of the union between Donn and Danu. She’s married to the chief Irish god the Dagda. Overseeing battles and wars in the form of a crow, she could foretell the future and was seen both as an omen of victory and of doom. Warriors fated to die are said to have visions of the Morrigan washing their bloodstained armor. The Morrigan originates a trinity of emanation goddesses named the Morrigna, each of which represent an aspect of her character. The first is Badb Catha who presides over war and omen, next is Macha who reigns over royalty and rulership, finally Nemain who embodies the frenzied rage that comes in both battle and love. The origin of these emanations differs in myths, in some they’re the daughters of the Morrigan, in others they’re described as her sisters. One of the Morrigna once appeared to the hero Cú Chulainn in a disguise, offering their love to him. Cú Chulainn instead disrespectfully insulted her. Angered by this, the goddess revealed herself as one of the daughters of the Morrigan and as retaliation for Cú Chulainn’s rude rejection she prophesied the hero’s death, much to his dismay.
Despite being called the Dagda’s envious wife, there aren’t any legends about that alleged jealousy despite the Dagda’s many other lovers. The Morrigan is one of the two goddesses in Irish mythology to fill the mother and earth goddess tropes, with the other being her mother Danu. Like her husband the Dagda, the Morrigan holds many titles and names, chief among them the epithet of “the Phantom Queen”. Her association with love and war could link her to being a long removed descendant of the Semitic Anat and Astarte, much like the Mesopotamian Innana. It’s believed by most researchers that the banshee originates from legends of the Morrigan, transformed under Christian influence. The Morrigan was used as a comparison to Lilith by Irish missionaries, specifically Lilith in the original context given by the Bible.

So, theory on God of War 6 and subsequently endgame God of War: Ragnarok spoilers below the cut
The way I see it, there's two ways to go now after Ragnarok:
We follow Kratos to Egypt, either as a sequel to Ragnarok or a midquel as I'm pretty sure there's a comic of Kratos going to Egypt after God of War 3 and before he ends up in Midgard. Not entirely sure what the plot would be, but considering at least one of the original ideas for the God of War trilogy was to have a single game set in Greece, Scandinavia and Egypt respectively* I think Egypt is a clear shoe-in for a game at some point.
We follow Atreus to Ireland. We know Atreus is going to new lands to find the Jotnar that fled Odin, and of the lands mentioned in Tyr's temple and shrine in God of War 4 (Egypt, Ireland, Japan and one of the Mesoamerican religions, presumably Aztec) the only race of giants from another land I can think of** is the pop culture understanding of the Fomorians from Irish mythology. Which, if they do go there, would be oddly clever? Considering there's a school of thought in some academic circles that the invasion of the Fomorians as the monks recorded it is heavily influenced by the Viking raids of Ireland in the 7-800s, so having them be an offshoot of the Jotnar would actually work, weirdly enough? Also, it'd give you a chance to shoot Lugh in the dick, and I may not know much about Irish mythology but I know that if you get the chance to shoot Lugh in the dick, you take it.
*and then the protagonists of those games would turn out to be the Wise Men from the Nativity story, which I'd be eternally pissed about but it would be almost worth it to hear Christopher Judge awkwardly give over some gold to Baby Jesus.
**which, don't take that as gospel, if the 'presumably Aztec' thing didn't give it away I'm horrifically uninformed when it comes to the various Mesoamerican mythologies!

there's 100000000's of spheres in the sky
their all giant glowing balls of essences and energies
ur actually supposed to just fly, and swim around anywhere in anti gravity
so the word espérera
will heal 'desperado' language
my entire soul is just oil
like eternal oil
i save womans life from other oils
imagine most guys are oil,
and most woman are essences
woman fly around with galaxies of stars
and usually the men are like thick oil that chases them
but men can learn how to create their own essenses and becomes kinda womanlike or godly in a god father way
but there's so many foolish men who think they can force essenses to stay in themselves
you have to fly up,
when you feel like you have 1 perfect focus
and dont lose that 1 focus,
and then you can fly around anywhere
until you get used to an environment,
then you can make more of yourself
well you do, whatever u want

this is why i never understand all the fights...
the galaxy is literally infinite
so everytime someone says theres a l'imitation or law
totally bogus
there's only respect,
give and get.
the only magic words,
is just respect, or please n thank you..
but at these tragic levels,
there's no more reason for you to obey anyone
you might as well say ur a free may zen or free agent forever

just dont forget our essays who speak more vato, or pravato
riCH
witCH
CHurCH

Another reminder that Greek mythology is always somehow symbolic, metaphorical, allegorical, since we are dealing with anthropomorphic personifications and other embodiments of cosmic powers.
For example: Demeter has sex with both Zeus and Poseidon. Something-something about the relationship of the Earth with the Sky and the Sea (or the celestial and chthonian powers). ESPECIALLY since these relationships are said to happen at the beginning of the world, in the primordial times during which the world settled itself for what it is now.
Herakles' wedding with Hebe, the personification of youth, checks in with when he becomes an immortal god (aka, an eternally young entity). What better way to symbolize a hero escaping the clutches of death than by him becoming the husband of the spirit of eternal youth?
Why is Hestia never leaving Olympus? Something-something about her being the literal personification of the hearth, which is at the center of the house/community and does not move.
Why is Ares getting his ass kicked by Athena? Because Athena is civilization, and Ares savagery, and in the Ancient Greek mindset intelligence, wisdom and craft will always be above brutality, bloodlust and random cruelty.
Do I need to spell it out that the myth of Persephone-Hades-Demeter is about the cycle of the seasons, and how the earth renews itself and brings back life after a time of death?
And I wonder why Ares' companions during his mass-slaughters are called Phobos, Deimos and Eris - Fear, Panic and Discord... Why would the goddess that breaks harmony and sows feuds and chaos be depicted as the close sister of the god of the ravages of war and of the brutality of conflicts, what a strange mystery!
And I can go on, and on, and on. Remember, the Greek gods aren't just super-heroes or wizards (that's more in line with more "humanized" mythologies, like the Irish or Nordic ones). They are embodiments of concepts and ideas, personifications of natural forces and cosmic powers, they are living allegories and fleshed metaphors. Zeus wields the lightning because he IS the lightning and thunder. Dionysos is both the bringer of joy and madness because he IS alcohol. Hades is both the name of the god of the dead, and of the realm of the dead. Hestia's name is literaly "hearth" in Greek, Hebe "youth", Nyx "night", Gaia "earth", Eros "desire". You can write "Eris met Helios at Okeanos' palace" or you can write "Strife encountered the Sun at the palace of Ocean" and that is the EXACT SAME THING!
[Mind you to limit the gods to being JUST allegories is also a mistake not to make. Greek deities are much more than just X concept or X idea... But one part of the myths will always be, down the line, some weather metaphor or some natural cycle motif]

The lack of pagan Percy Jackson fics is downright criminal
Think about it. Sure there is the comedy of him being a Hellenistic pagan but what if he was literally any other kind of pagan.
Chiron: you are a demigod. The old gods abandoned by modern people are real.
Pagan Percy: old? Abandoned?
————————–—–—————————————–—
Chiron: and now we sacrifice some of our food to the gods
Celtic pagan Percy: oh! alight! I sacrifice this to Danu!
Chiron: not like that!
Danu the mother of the Irish gods: something just happened.
————————–—–—————————————–—
Annabeth: we need a god’s blessing to to do this!
Celtic pagan Percy: does it need to be a Greek god?
Annabeth: it was never specified.
Percy: *pulls out a candle and prays to Morrigan*
Morrigan the Celtic goddess of war: *shows up* yeah sure you have my blessing.
Percy: thank you lady Morrigan.
————————–—–—————————————–—
Jason: do you respect any gods?
Celtic pagan Percy: The only one in the Greco-Roman pantheon that I respect is Hestia
Jason: why did you specify Greco-Roman
Percy: I respect the Celtic gods
Jason: the what?!?
Percy: (:
Jason: D:

A body in the water. A howl in the mist. A community secret. A God waking up. Sybil Kane, a London nurse, is dispatched to the isolated island of Calda off the Irish coast, to care for the grandfather she's never met. She's not built for the task; timid, quiet, and self-sacrificial, her journey across the sea dredges up past horrors she thought were long drowned. In the wake of the Irish Civil War and Free State, she feels like a foreigner on her own soil. The islanders are quick to embrace her – but they have plans for Sybil, plans they don't share out in the open. With only a revolutionary soldier and the local shipwright as allies, Sybil tries to persuade her newfound community to see sense and evacuate their elderly population to the mainland. But their roots are planted deep, and Sybil feels those tendrils growing around her... The longer she stays, the more she belongs. The closer she draws to the grotesque secret they keep hidden at the church...
Very excited to reveal the first teaser image of my novel, The Water Dog! It's been a long time in the making and is probably the most deeply personal story I'll ever tell. A mix of folk-horror and supernatural romance, I think people who've enjoyed my previous stories will be a bit surprised (in a good way I hope!) by this more intense literary experience.
I'll be releasing more updates soon, but this is the reason RTR has been on such a long hiatus. I've been writing like a demon all year to get this finished and edited to a professional standard. I can't wait to show you all more.
