Carolina Dogs are so interesting. The person who had the one I posted also has another (altered female). I learnt so much about how they're working to preserve the breed and the history of the breed, what they look for for breeding stock and what they aim for. That dog had an incredible temperament (so sweet, so polite) and was just beautiful to watch. Very interesting stuff.

They choke on another half-moan, squirming weakly. You can’t tell if they’re trying to get away or beg for more, the only things they seem to remember how to say being your name and the word “please.”

You flip them over and pull their hips up, sliding into them and hissing from the warmth. They’re feverish, hotter than you’ve ever felt before. You slide in and out experimentally, but they don’t need to be opened up nearly as much as the first time. Your eggs had stretched them out— the thought of their hole stretched around your eggs makes you twitch inside them, and your yan whines even more pathetically.

They cry out more and more with every thrust, with every new egg you press into them. They cum over and over again without you even touching them in the front, tears streaming down their face at the burn and stretch of their hole and stomach. To everyone wondering what happened to Anaraktu:

#304120 bought an 11 year old, 2 heats left tigon from them. The original trade name was “11yo tigon, 2 heats left”. In the description or trade name, it never mentioned clean tigon ANYWHERE which should be a hint to the buyer it isnt clean. Ana told me the buyer bougth it IN FEBRUARI for 10 Buffy Balls. Which back in februari was a fair trade.

the person was whining in chat about the tigon being dirty and old, which was no secret in the trade, BEFORE even breeding the tigon. They called Anaraktu a scammer, and other people went along, calling her an asshole and scammer too. Now yesterday Anaraktu brought up the topic of being unfairly called a scammer, and the same person who called Ana a scammer the day before went on about “she wasnt scamming its my fault, bla bla”. The buyer also failed to mention in chat when accusing that the tigons trade name was 11 and were fully aware it was old when they bought her, and that they bought her in feb. So when they said i paid …gb in items for it, it was in feb, when the items were worth less then that. But still claimed it was overpaying and unfair. And people accused Anaraktu of a scammer because of that. It turns out, the person buying the old dirty tigon had twin gons born from her yesterday too. So all this hate and false accusations were totally unnecessary and unfair to Anaraktu, because since the cubs have been born theyre all lovey dovey and nice again about the gon and Ana. Luckily there were people defending Anaraktu and saying its the buyers fault, and not a scam.

So Anaraktu wasn’t a scammer nor an asshole, because the buyer knew it was old and if they checked the herritage that it was dirty, turns out they didn’t which was their own fault, because Anaraktu never claimed it was clean nor young.

i feel like electric scooters have been irresponsibly bred in cities, i understand that theyre an easy solution to the last mile problem but i think letting them free roam is simply not good for the ecosystem!! bikes are skittish but they can become agressive when their territory and grazing areas are encroached upon, and because electric scooters are all bred in captivity unlike regular scooters, they lack the instict to leave way for bikes in their lanes as well as not being able to recognize the common ways bikes communicate with each other

and obviously this is not really the fault of electric scooter breeders but theyre also a lot more susceptible to being hunted by cars due to as i mentioned already, being bred in captivity and lacking the prey instincts that bikes have developed. while cars have become an invasive species in urban ecosystems smaller prey animals such as bikes (while they are opportunistic carnivores their main diet consists of urban trash) and skateboards, as well as regular scooters (although they are sadly a rare creature to see nowadays) have managed to adjust to the behaviour of the increased presence of these large predators

all in all i think electric scooters should be kept indoors while still young and street trained when theyre old enough to be let out safely. large fleets of rentable escooters on the streets are simply unethical, and it is cruel to the animals because theyre unable to fend for themselves and hunt for the small insects they need for sustenance. we need to promote more responsible electric scooter ownership and lobby corporations that breed them only to let them roam in the street becoming feral

I think I'll dust off Eden's Deception for this one.

So what you'd never know about Eden's Deception is this story actually went through three drafts.

2018 - The romantic fluff fest hyperfocused on a J/C romance in their scifi "Garden of Eden" on my first rewatch of the series as a 25 y.o. i felt absolutely cheated and teased by the romantic undertones that this episode failed to fulfill. the first draft was wish fulfillment where they frollicked around new earth falling in love, but it kept getting disrupted by my impulse to write scenes with some very intense melancholy about being stranded. Think one second theyre cuddling on a home made couch making out and the next Kathryn is somberly assessing what would happen when one of the died and how she would bury his body all alone by herself. really sad shit. kept breaking the romantic story i had envisioned.

That first draft stalled completely when the romantic fantasy plot peaked at an accidental pregnancy. I was watching Call the Midwife at the same time (hollar at all the ways pregnancy can go wrong for older women with limited resources and no medical care) and I just could not figure out how to move forward with the romantic fluff tone when i had just put my character in this situation of functionally mortal peril. I put the draft down and had a long re-think.

2020: The second draft was a Viidian organ farm horror fic. Mid pandemic. I was very isolated. dark thoughts abounded. and I like everyone else got a crash course in virus behavior from the wall to wall news coverage. So I rewatched resolutions again and this time rather than the lack of romance it was the bullshit virus that needled me. Why had a virus that affected spacefarers evolved on a planet with no space faring civilization? Why was it's only symptom triggered outside the atmosphere? Why did the Viidiians have the cure. I tried to anwer that in the second draft, while still satisfying my wishfullfillment need to get Kathryn a baby. In that second Draft the vidiians had engineered the planet to be a tempting venus fly trap and the virus to first trap victims on the planet and then entice them to have a lot of sex and babies that the vidiians could swoop in and kidnap later. I'd intended pregnant Kathryn to go full rambo on their facility and somehow bs she and chakotay a way off the planet and back to the ship. but i never got that far. that draft was just a little too dark for what I wanted and also the idea of the show's modern vidiians forcing their prisoners to breed new organ donors the natural way seemed dreadfully inefficient for a species that had figured out how to create a whole ass klingon adult in a lab in a day from just half a dna strand. but I did like the idea that the virus was somehow their fault. and I was intrigued by the speculation that their organ harvesting plans might have started out on a much more accessible population than kidnapped passing spacefarers. so i hung onto those tidbits and some of the smut scenes too (one of the smut scenes from this draft became Fever actually).

The final draft was written in 2021. In the US we had the looming threat of losing protections from Roe by then and that really put a damper on my own baby fever. That and I had by then watched like 7 seasons of call the midwife. So suffice to say I had come to see new earth baby was just a horror fic waiting to happen, and felt like Kathryn would just never go through with that while stranded or in the captain's chair. So I had Kathryn put a new earth baby in long term stasis for Parent Trap and I did away with the concept in Eden entirely.

Having also experienced two years of people trying to control a real pandemic by then the vidiians approach to the phage continued to facinate me. I don't think I would have come up with the idea of the New Earth virus as a quarentine measure otherwise. Creating a plot for Chakotay and his own skill set also helped bring the whole thing together. I let the potential of a maquis freedom fighter out to play to create a solution that was definitely the best option and definitely not starfleet sanctioned. He flies under the radar as a self-sacrificing maverick given how often it's Janeway pulling out the big guns. But he absolutely also is one. And that was really fun to explore.

Ultimately I think you see undercurrents of the first 2 drafts in the final story. The romantic yacht that they sail back to Voyager in certainly harkened back to the fluffier iteration. I really was very pleased with how it turned out. Rereading it two years later there isnt much that i would change. And that makes me really proud of it. I loved writing a mystery. I loved exploring a more mature and measured version of a romance. I loved bringing the science into it! (and I lucked out having someone with an anthropology/archeology background betaing it)

One thing I would change is the inclusion of some of Chakotays spiritual elements. It was kinda a trend at the time to have him say "Spirits" in lieu of saying "Oh, God" as a way to honor whatever indigenous beliefs he is supposed to have (as we all know theyre very mismashed/made up/etc.) and to show he wasnt from a judeo-christian background. I've realized that was quite foolish now. Saying "Spirits" doesn't come from the show or from any actual native american tradition that I can find. I'd just have him say "God" or swear or something completely different now. In the same vein I want to eventually go back and edit the vision quest scene. I've grappled for years with how much of his canon beliefs to include since theyre all appropriated from different nations or just made up whole cloth. Vision quests aren't something I have personal knowledge of and not something I can research or give the appropriate respect to. So I think that while I might still have him leave their campsite to do one, I'd change the vision/memory itself into a dream, similar to the way his flashbacks to the war worked in a later chapter.

I'm looking into bird-care because I really want to get a bird somewhere down the line and the reoccurring advice with A LOT of species if "if they bite, it's not random. it's because theyre hormonal or otherwise upset" and "birds need to be socialised, you meed to be willing to work with them every day and learn their body language." I've also come across A LOT of discussions of bad breeding with store birds and how those birds often tend do be less friendly and prone to "tantrums", and that it's not their fault, it's just the way they've been generationally conditioned.

and then I started thinkink of the Oak family, obviously. How Lark and Sparrow had outbursts because they were bored. How Normal's "odd" patterns aren't understood. How Henry was too afraid to work with Lark and Sparrow for fear of traumatising them so he never ended up "taming" them or building trust. How birds "scream to communicate" and how L&S and Normal are all incredibly loud and it leads them to be misunderstood. How birds attack when they're over-stimulated. How they will often lach on to ONE person and tend to attack anyone who ISN'T that person.

I don't think there's a point to this post other than I think the Oaks are all birds.

As someone who works at a boarding kennel/daycare and deals with many breeds, i completely agree with ur post about temperment.... Currently we are stuck with a border collie who resource guards EVERYTHING (she's bitten most of our staff lol 🥴). The owners were gonna euthanize her because she nipped their kids and we didnt feel comfortable with that because its not the dogs fault. Its a combination of the owners and the breeder. They told us they got her from a "really good breeder" which. Sure, maybe they do breed great working dogs. She exhibits every herding dog behavior/instinct in the book. But i wont call you a good border collie breeder if you place a WORKING dog in a home where it will not work and is expected to be a family dog, and this goes for all breeders who work with breeds that were created for a specific purpose. Theres a difference between a dog that looks the breed standard but has a temperment that allows it to exist in an underestimulating home environment, and a dog that DOES look and act the way it was bred to be. Owners AND breeders need to do responsible research on the type of dog theyre getting and the correct placement of that dog based on its temperment.

(Sorry for the rant and if its slightly off topic from your post, i just needed to get this off my chest to someone who UNDERSTANDS bc none of these dumbass owners do, to be frank)

The placement of dogs into homes that can actually deal with their individual needs is incredibly important and I really respect breeders that advocate for their dogs, do extensive interviews into peoples lifestyles and say no firmly when they know a potential buyer doesn't have what their dogs need to be happy (and this can even come down to an individual level).

Temperament testing is also super crucial not only to working dogs, but to dogs going in to pet homes. Dogs bred for general companionship need to have stable, easy temperaments and I really hope that the next push onto breeders from health testing is various temperament testing because health is only one aspect of what makes a dog suitable for somebodies lifestyle.

you can find avvid face down peter griffin death pose completely unconscious rolling death saves somewhere near the wreck site (they were not as lucky in the crash as you were). in order to recruit them you have to use the help action, a potion, or have shadowheart heal them

7: Do they have their own personal quest that spans the course of the game?  Can it take different branching paths depending on the choices the Player Character makes?

hmmmm i dont have this down 100% yet ( i still need to beat the game after all) but here are the basics:

avvid's backstory is the same-- they escaped from their creche/the astral plane after learning that vlaakith intended to turn them into an egg machine in order to further her eugenics breeding program. avvid worries that by being abducted by the mind flayers has accidentally dragged them back into the life they were trying to avoid

if you do the rosymorn monastery stuff with them in the party the creche leader will recognize avvid as an escapee and has orders from vlaakith herself to turn them in alive (they cant make eggs if theyre dead). fight will ensue as usual and when vlaakith shows up to tell you about the astral plane she will also encourage you to turn avvid in

at some point you will have the opportunity to actually turn avvid in but if you try to do that they will become hostile and you'll have to kill them

their quest will be a mixture of lae'zel's and gale's. lots of fighting gith soldiers and pissing off vlaakith (avvid is pretty anti-orpheus, unlike lae'zel, though. they just view him as another potential dictator who will be no better than vlaakith). their quest would be like gale's in that there will be a lot of avvid thinking "i need to become the most powerful necromancer and lich of all time so i can finally kill vlaakith and protect myself and also so that i will be Useful". especially if you give them the book of thay (they fight astarion for it). they will also have a lot to say about ketheric thorm/myrkul ("how come that guy was the chosen of myrkul and not me, huh???"). you can encourage them to pursue power and safety or to pursue the quiet a life they have always wanted (even if they will always be on vlaakith's bad side). you can also pull a dragon age and harden them if you want-- basically you can either let them to continue to be overly trusting and gullible or soft or have them become more cynical and hard

basically it's a choice between letting avvid fully walk away from vlaakith and live their best life (even though they will forever be pursued by the gith) or letting avvid take the fight to vlaakith and pursue necromantic power and lichdom (and safety). it's about letting avvid remain trusting and open and in love the with the world (and yeah a little gullible) or letting them become more mature and cynical and a little less happy (but less likely to be taken advantage of).

8: What do they say when the Player Character asks them to stay in camp?  How about when the Player Character asks them to come adventuring again?

"All right. At least I'll have more time for reading."/ "Wonderful! I can't wait to see what the world has in store!"

ohhh avvid is so gullible and curious to a fault so they'd completely fall for raphael's bs. "he seems nice <|:-)". if you choose to make them more cynical they will do a 180 and condemn raphael but if you choose to keep them soft they'll be hesitantly interested in what Raphael has to offer

3: How do they react to Astarion biting the Player Character?

they are jealous of the player character they are happy that the player character let astarion feed bc they feel sympathy for him and they are fully trusting that astarion won't hurt anyone in the party

7: What can they be found doing at the tiefling/goblin party?

they'll be kinda sloshed (they are a lightweight) and acting pretty differently from their usual shy self! they'll be singing and dancing and talking to everyone and laughing a lot and just so happy and free! everyone thinks it's very endearing that they're so happy and if the player character chooses to romance them this will be one of tav's "oh" moments where they realize that they might have a crush tee hee!

11: What do they say if the PC tries to force them to go up on stage with Dribbles the Clown?

they are soooo shy and socially awkward so they go completely red and pull their hat down over their eyes and let out a small embarrassed (but endearing) shriek

1: Is your Tav a romanceable character?  Are there any specific requirements to romancing them?

they are! there aren't any specific requirements beyond getting their approval high enough. I think they'd fall in love with you pretty easily and they'd be the character you have to turn down in like every playthrough that you aren't romancing them lol

5: Does the romance have different branching paths, or just one route to take?

I think it would depend on whether or not you choose to keep them trusting and naive and also whether or not you'd chose to have them commit to their dreams of lichdom. they will still love you no matter what but if you choose those options they become less, like, idealistic and overeager about their expectations? like less "we are going to settle down and live happily ever after and im already planning our wedding after a week of knowing you" and more "i love you and will kill for you but i cant make any promises about what our future holds and when i ascend to lichdom i will outlive you but it's okay cause when you die your bones are joining my skeleton army"

11: What are Tav’s plans for the future?  Do they propose to the PC, or is marriage not something they’re interested in?

see the above! if you choose to keep them as they are and discourage them from pursing lichdom i definitely think there would be an option to propose to them <3
