every reread I’m more and more amused by the scene of Jasnah finding Shallan all disheveled and clearly exhausted trying to cram read like 10 philosophy textbooks she just got scammed into buying, and Jasnah just being like “damn you’re pathetic” and sighing because she knows she has no choice but to adopt this cringefail girl that won’t leave her alone who shouldn’t be roaming around without adult supervision.

Look at her she has $8 total and she’s using them to read philosophy in the most pathetic, dim light imaginable. The girl is either squinting because it’s too dark to read in or because she’s about to fall asleep so Jasnah has adopt her if only to tell her it’s past her bedtime

whitney being the only LI to care when pc goes missing kinda makes sense. kylar maybe being second but barely, cause like

robin, sydney and alex would be worried but they ALL have their own shit to worry about (bailey, the temple and the farm respectively) and as much as they WANT to find you, they can barely find the time to even try.

kylar doesn’t necessarily have a life outside of you so he would try finding you but chances are he’d be cooped up in his room and won’t get anywhere like that.

i think whitney would try the hardest. probably get the closest too. but it’s during this that he kinda realizes how helpless he really is, in the grand scheme? like he’s strong and he’s mean but he’s still kinda a nobody outside of the school. he knows stuff exists but he has no means of getting into it, save maybe wren since they know each other.

I swear I'll stop talking about this, but one thing that just dawned on me was how Vegas' choice to threaten Pete with his grandma - and the way he executed it - kind of led to him losing to Pete.

Think of it this way: by involving his grandma directly, by actually talking to her and telling her Pete is on a trip with a friend, by making Pete himself tell her this, he lost his chance to actually turn that threat into reality.

He freed his grandma, and Pete, from the danger of her being killed.

Now, of course, he could very much just order his men to kill her or whatever anyway. But he wouldn't do that, and Pete knows it.

Pete isn't mad that Vegas threatened his grandma after the phone call. Pete is mad Vegas chose her to humiliate him.

It kind of explains the dog bowl scene to me. I always found it a bit bizarre how sedated Pete looks in that scene, before he starts sneering and spitting broth on Vegas' face.

But it makes a bit of sense. Pete stopped giving any fucks about his situation. He'll either die or escape, and he doesn't really care which one it'll be - Vegas would be upset in both scenarios, which is Pete's goal.
