#ot6: where hiccup goes we go

Httyd + rtte thoughts: I love that the gang is so ride or die loyal to Hiccup even though they don't show it in normal ways. Hiccup has no idea the type of loyalty he inspires. Probably because of the bullying and loneliness and self hate pre Toothless. Do you think the gang ever has regrets about that? Do you think they wonder if they could have had this earlier if they became friends with Hiccup when they were kids?

Yeah, Hiccup has what I recently dubbed the brain demon that makes him think no one cares about him, and yes, that's because of all of that pre-Toothless badness in his life.

As for regrets? Yeah. But I also think this is a case of actions speaking louder than words. Did we see the gang behave poorly to Hiccup in the past? Yes. But the rest of the franchise has shown the other five to be unfailingly loyal to Hiccup, Ride or Die as you say, and I think it's fair to say that what they've done with those regrets is used them as motivation to behave better.

Also I'm gonna quote from another fandom of mine because Rafiki is basically my spiritual advisor at this point:

“Oh yes, the past can hurt, but the way I see it you can either run from it or learn from it.”

Basically what they did.

Like, their regrets in this case is fairly actionable. The antidote is to be better to him in the NOW and they are.

And I'm sure they wish they could have been friends with him when they were younger, too, but can't get a time machine, so might as well be friends with him now.

📝 Inspired by “there was only one bed” but OT6 with there were only three beds. I want to see who would pair off and what arguments would happen. 😂

The twins would get into an argument about having to share a bed. For sure. Hiccup would solve it by saying they don't have to share a bed.

Snotlout would probably want to pair off with Astrid but she's probably not having that. They'd probably get into an argument over who's hogging the bed or something. Same with Fishlegs, actually. Snotlout would probably be very prissy or something. He probably wouldn't want to share with Hiccup because to him, it'd be that "Ah yes. Me. My boyfriend. And his Night Fury." meme.

Astrid would probably try to pick Hiccup but end up with Ruffnut.

Everyone would try to pick Hiccup, actually. He would probably try not to play favorites. But he would most be okay with Fishlegs and Astrid.

Fishlegs is noncommittal for fear of no one actually choosing him, but I think Hiccup would want to go with him. Astrid would probably also be okay with him.

Ruffnut's cool with everybody but her brother, but very horny about Hiccup, probably.

Tuffnut doesn't care that much.

I think ultimately, Snotlout would end up with Tuffnut. Hiccup would end up with Fishlegs. And Astrid and Ruffnut.

Alternatively, Hiccup and Astrid, Fishlegs and Ruffnut, Snotlout and Tuffnut.

Sometimes I think about the fact that Ruffnut called Hiccup pretty to his and Astrid's face when Hiccup and Astrid were newly together (and not quite out).

How very chill (and poly) of Astrid to not have a problem with it.

I love this.

Yeah, let's go point at RTTE, when Astrid's childhood home is destroyed bc of Dagur and they all stayed with her at the academy so she wouldn't be alone. And then Astrid's edict of "Where Hiccup goes, we go."

There's no way they would have left him alone after all that happened in HTTYD2. He needs to be taken care of by people who've been in his life for more than a year recently. (Showing up when your kid is over 18 is disqualifying in the good parent rulebook that I just made up.)

And who better to take care of Hiccup than the five people who have already been doing that?

(Do we think that Berk would be making Hiccup meals like some cultures do for people who've lost loved ones?)

I did some checking and of the OT6 tagged fics (with the six named ship) on AO3, there's 133 works and 64 are mine. Which works out to around 48 percent.

Also: @howtodrawyourdragon has 32. (About 24 percent.)

So, 72 percent of the OT6 fics are two people. I just thought that was fun.

I forgot to send this ask last night and now it's in my head again so I will remember to send this time.

So, think of this. Dragons Edge OT6. They're happy in their relationship but the majority of the 'cule realize that Snotlout doesn't show a lot of affection.

At least in the ways they understand

But then the five come to the realization that they each had clothes they had put off mending were meticulously stitched to be sturdy and comfortable and nearly invisible except for a little heart on the inside part of the seams where only they would know it was there.

Idk I just like the idea of Snotlout *caring* but not knowing how to show it because of Spitelout's influence so he ends up hiding it in little things like making sure their favorite clothes stay in good condition, and if there's a little design on the inside of the stitch, well, he has 'no idea' where that came from

Also, when they're a little older, they make a little symbol or pattern for their 'cule family and they + any kids have it embroidered somewhere on most of their clothes

I awwed aloud at "except for a little heart on the inside part". I love that. I love that Snotlout is the one that is doing the mending and giving them a little heart.

Also, that's such a perfect way for Snotlout to show his affection/care for them. Actions speak louder than words, eh.

Hiccup's suggestion for the little symbol or pattern would probably be the Toothless symbol.

Or maybe it'd be something that could represent all their dragons. Probably something not too complicated.

I was thinking about the Dragon Riders in like, an SUV, and I was like:

"Hiccup would sit in between the twins in the backseat to prevent their mischief!"

And then I was like, oh, oh. Oh no. That would fail miserably.

Hiccup would not be a barrier to their mischief.

Astrid or Fishlegs might. But I also think of Astrid and Fishlegs as sitting in the front row.

So you know how I like to headcanon that Hiccup has a lot of burn scars from the Red Death? That but with the OT6.

Like they all have burn scars from her?

Fuuuck.

They all have scars from that bitch. Maybe not matching scars, but they all have that connection.
