Apple Halva Loaf Cake Recipe Crumbled halva and tahini melt into this apple loaf cake as it bakes, giving it unique flavor and texture. 1 teaspoon baking soda, 2 tablespoons turbinado sugar or to taste, 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 2 large eggs, 5.5 tablespoons tahini, 1/2 cup buttermilk, 1/2 cup crumbled halva, 1/2 cup packed brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter melted and cooled, 3/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 apple cut into small cubes

Roasted eggplant with saffron yogurt and pomegranates! This was a beautiful plate, and really pretty easy to throw together. Made for an excellent lunch for two.

I loooooooove roasted eggplant and this preparation (2″ rectangle strips) was so much better than just cutting the normal circles that I tend to do. The nuttiness of the pinenuts contrasted with the little bursts of pomegranate seeds and the fresh basil leaves were also really pleasant. My yogurt sauce came out a little thin and, frankly, I don’t think I needed to add as much to each plate as a did (this made more than was necessary, as its tang was a liiiiiiittle more than I needed/wanted) - a hearty drizzle of it would be been better, rather than the pool of it at the base of each plate.

At the end of the day, this was interesting and was very well received by my famed taste tester, but honestly, I would have been equally satisfied with just the roasted eggplant completely plain and on its own!

Reposted from @rootingforveg 5 spice Peach and Raspberry salad @ottolenghi Simple - a really easy fruit salad with a delicious dressing of Chinese 5 spice seasoning with maple syrup, cider vinegar, olive oil and thinly sliced shallots. Fresh raspberries are then crushed and added to the dressing and fresh sliced peaches are placed on a bed of greens - recipe calls for watercress and radicchio but I used rocket and lollo rosso leaves then the dressing is poured over. Miso butter onions and green beans

Fabulous. Crowd favorite at Xmas eve. The onions are so soft and flavorful, green beans crisp and bright, gravy is really delicious. And pretty easy recipe (though it does take over an hour total)
