“Are you okay?”
A call out to the name he’s become so familiar to has begun to eat at his heart with your voice sinking their sharp teeth into the flesh he does not have; you tear to him to pieces with your smile and leave him like he tattered doll once finished with him.
A fight breaks out, one that calls the attention to his fears of abandonment and urges him to leave whilst the other yearns for your company and shackles him to the floor with a call of your voice.  You’ve come to ask if you two would spend time studying together, he’s visited your home plenty of times and finds himself gnawing at the leash he put there that brings him over to you without any say of his reason.
The fist his hand was balled in as he held his head up, there was something that had almost brought him to tears as you asked him such a question. “Of course I’m okay.” Yet, there was something that gnawed at him as he looked at your face, you had looked at him in ways that showed he was making you feel for him almost like a child.
“It’s just quiet in here…” The young puppet knew if he could not have something to conceal the sounds of his tapping feet, his breathing that became breathy, and the pounding in his chest that had begun to drive him crazy without how it bled into his ears. A hope in his head that you would not acknowledge the way he fidgets with how both your shoulders touched as you sat the shared desk.
Wanderer scolded himself, if he couldn’t even handle your shoulders against his what could’ve made him believe in actually pursuing a relationship with you. Why would you even want a relationship with him? The way he behaves akin to an antsy child must make you feel like a parent. Why would you ever think of him outside of just studying with him?
In spite of those thoughts there’s a desire in his heart, to sew that smile into your lips forever, his eyes swiftly close as he turns his face back to his book whilst you return to yours, “I'm glad, it seemed like something was on your mind back there.” You spoke your concerns, your half-lidded eyes turned to his with a look in your eyes that were felt throughout Wanderer’s body even without looking at you.
“I’ll turn on some music.” You assured as you got up from your seat and made your way over to your music case. There was this feeling to pulling you back to him and hopefully meld his material in your warm skin. You looked through the music, your fingers peeling through and getting some out before finding one song, a large vinyl is placed on your record player.
The music that greets Wanderer is a soft piano, a warm and light guitar, and some orchestral music's picking up in parts to lull to the puppet. You turn back to Wanderer, “I hope you like it, I often listen to this when I’m studying alone.” You explain as you make your way back to your seat, putting your hands in your lap before turning your head to meet with the young man next to you.  “Are you ready for us to continue studying?” The way you questioned him, there was a softness in his voice that he had yearned since he was brought into this world.
You’d go out of your way to make a puppet feel more serene?
Out of the kindness of your heart?
The puppet pondered before scoffing at such a thought: Only a fool would believe such bright and fulfilled eyes as ones that were meant to bring joy into this world while he was being tortured by the sight of your benevolence.
A couple of candles burned softly around the two of you, had you always glowed this lovingly under the light? There was something being highlighted in your face that had only made Wanderer more lost in what he was witnessing.
Pleasing? There were features you had that made the puppet believe it was the archon’s punishment to him for having feelings.
Captivated? Of course he was, just the mere presence of you in the same room had left him feeling the warmth he had been longing for since creation.
Bewitched? A spell casted on him, he had only done to himself by allowing himself to gaze upon perfection, candles burning him wouldn’t turn him away from your beauty.
The thought of you set him ablaze with the gaze he was met with once his eyes begrudgingly made their way towards yours. Oh dear. There’s this swelling where his heart would be, he finds his ears are hot with your glazed over eyes as you waited for him to speak.
“Is there something on your mind, Wanderer?” You find your hand slowly coming from your lap to your cheek, flustered by the astonishment in his eyes, your index finger tapped your cheek as you awaited an answer. You could’ve killed him with such a move. There was something with how you always knew where to place your hands that would highlight you, whether it was your face, hands, or your figure. In awe, he’d fallow them to where they landed and paid close attention the area.
“N…No. I’m just...” You found your lips parting a bit, with your brilliance you would be able to say something that he couldn’t think of no matter how many years he had spent in Teyvat. “I’m just lost in how to solve this problem…I’m scared of how I’ll do for this upcoming exam.” Schooling was another debt he’d be paying for the archon, he worked among his fellow peers, yet the only one who he decided to talk to was you. You were a late arrival into the class, thus you both would have to work together to catch up with the rest of your fellow classmates.
“Oh please, you’ll do perfect. You always do.” You had admired him; with the way you spoke of how often you would see his scores and his answers it was no surprise you saw him as one who was always more than a couple steps of ahead of your peers. “I don’t think you actually need to study with someone sometimes, y’know? You’re so smart, you could do an exam as soon as it’s called out.”
To be praised by you was one that could ease his pains when the world turned his back on him. A long day of being delt a hand that left him as an outsider to those who interacted with him, he would yearn to come to your home and lay his head in your lap and be coddled like a child. The mere object he was, he loved so deeply to be deemed as one whose heart was as sensitive as a porcelain antique.
“Please don’t be so humble…” Wanderer spoke, your name taking it’s time in his mouth before he begrudgingly let it go to, “Without your help I wouldn’t have neary gotten this far, it’s almost admirable how much work you put into projects and honestly, you’re a lot smarter than the rest of them.” Wanderer effused, although his tone was hidden by his nonchalant one, you imagined him babbling happily about you and couldn’t help but find your face flushed.
“You really think so?” Without missing a beat he swooned, “I know so.”
There was something about those words that caused your heart to pound incessantly against your rib cage, desperately trying to escape the confines to profess its feelings towards the one the pounded alongside it inside of Wanderer’s chest.
Endearing was what you call such a moment, as he held his gaze with yours with a flush on his face that called attention against his pale skin, he had found himself so utterly flustered by the situation and all that has left him that he looks to you with large eyes and quivering lips as he found his eyes struggling to stay on your doe like ones.
The way they pierced him, he found himself bounded to chair beneath him with his knees buckling and his fingers digging into the cushion as his neck began to ache from turning to stare at you for so long.
The music had pulled on his ears, a pinkness beginning as he finds this moment becoming more and more confined by all that surrounded him. Whether it was the candles that brought a new light to your features, or the music so low, or even the way he found your arms so close to his that made both your hearts skip a beat.
Breath hitching as you both found yourself opening your mouth to get much needed oxygen, so entranced by this moment to forget breathing in your nose. Wanderer found himself matching your breathing pattern, he had no need to breath in all his years of living and yet the moment he’s alone with ou he feels his throat closing up with the closeness of one another.
The room was spinning, the sound of music was cradling the two of you in this moment as it conducted the thoughts that came through both your minds whilst staring into each other's eyes. It felt as if there was something coming, a warmness that the Wanderer hadn’t known the name of as his eyes darted to your parted lips as he followed your breathing.
You had found yourself looking down at his lips as well, soon finding yourself lost in the moment alongside him, you leaned in with a string brining you over to the puppet as he hadn’t taken the time your lips getting closer to his as all he could do was try to breath alongside you.
To feel what you felt in that moment was to align himself with you perfectly.
As you brought them closer all Wanderer could do was began to keep the cushion in grasps, almost tearing it apart like a kitten, he found his lips quivering as he felt your breath against them causing him to feel an overwhelming number of emotions. The way they had begun to swirl throughout his body and pull his body one towards the other had caused his mind to spiral.
“...erer!”
The puppet’s eyes closed, he finds the back of his head and neck ache with the harshness of your wooden flooring clashing against him, there was something that had caused his face to become engulfed into a redness as he finds himself slowly bringing himself up with his left arm supporting his leaning and his right being brought up to his face before being met with you knelt beside him.
“Wanderer! Are you okay?”
Your tone filled with worry as you looked to him with fret filling your eyes, Wanderer finds himself a bit embarrassed by all that his happened, a bit being an understatement as he finds himself looking the other way to avoid your eyes. “Of course, I am.” The puppet slowly stood, “Be careful, you took a hard fall.” You insisted whilst you reached for his hat, getting up alongside him as you handed it towards him.
“Do you need an icepack? Is your head okay?” You questioned him with care in your tone, worriedness as if you had struck him when he inflicted this on himself, he couldn’t handle such a tone. You were so considerate as you kept apologizing before pushing his hat to him and going to get some ice for him.
Wanderer wondered if you’d still feel this way if you found out he was a puppet.
You came back with a clear bag of ice and handed it off to him as your eyes filled with fear of it all. “I think I should be heading off now.” The words that shot from his mouth he wanted to take back, as he found your heart shattering in your eyes. The look on your face, no matter how hard you tried to hide it, had called for execution and torture beyond inhuman.
It was what he believed he deserved for lying to you about wanting to leave.
“I think that’s our time, Wanderer.” The way you spoke with an ease when departing had lacerated all his yearns for profession to you, like a God, he’d fall to his knees and hold your legs begging for more time with you. The wanderer finds the time with you short, while he would say a couple more minutes, his mind would loop with the pleadings of years to be spent alongside you.
However, today he would collect his things, “It seems so.” The detached tone that shielded all the ache of leaving you for the night. Something beat against you in your chest as you so desperately wanted him to stay alongside you. Yet, you bid him farewell, thanking him and apologizing about “Having the wrong idea.”
Wanderer shook his head, “There is no need for you to apologize.” The puppet was glad for the darkness out, you could not witness the blush of his embarrassment from not being able to handle a simple kiss from you. “I apologize if I gave you the wrong idea of what I wanted from you.” You shake your head, “You did nothing wrong, Wanderer.”
You both stand there, the warmness of your heart aches to bring him back in and Wanderer yearns to be in the light you had blessed him with. You both stand there however, looking at one another for a moment only for you to speak, “Safe travels.” You tried to hide the want whilst Wanderer tried to hide his desire, “Thank you. You as well.”
You close your door and Wanderer finds himself walking away, once a safe enough distance from your home he begins to curse himself.  “You imbecile! You couldn’t handle someone kissing you!? Embarrassing yourself like a child wetting themselves!” There are more curses that come from him, until he arrives at his quarters and launches himself into his bed. Letting out a loud groan there is only one more thing left for him to call out.
“You as well !?”

𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 ⋮ 2.8k (little guy!)
𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 ⋮ With the discussion of everyone's phone numbers, Satoru realizes that he has no way of communicating with you outside of school, which he wants to do so very much. Satoru's neediness and pride gets in the way; however, how can he get you to want his number without the meddling Utahime taking great recognition over the fact that she holds knowledge of Satoru’s feelings for you.
𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 ⋮ Kaguya-Sama: Love is War got me wanting to write again! I love this little group dynamic so very much!!!
𝐓𝐚𝐠𝐬 ⋮ Series | No Spoilers | Second Person POV | Satoru pining over you | Fluff | Humor | Cross-Posted on Ao3 | Not so subtle Utahime x Shoko
Tumblr media
“I can’t believe you didn’t respond to what I said, Shoko.” Utahime cried out to Shoko who was sitting next to you, the three of you were having your free time out on a bench, “I didn’t see your text.” The brunette yawned, the cigarette loosely hanging from the corner of her mouth while the girl next you continued to find herself practically sobbing on Shoko.
"Of course, she didn't!" A voice called out from behind the two of you, the three of you turned around to see what loud and obnoxious voice called out to the three of you. You all turned your attention to be met by the one who was held in high regard by those higher yet amongst peers was one who was a disturbance to the peace.
"Shoko never answers my texts either!"  Satoru had cried to you all whilst holding onto Suguru and crying into his shoulder, the three of you rolled your eyes at his behavior before Utahime spoke up, "Like anyone would want to text you!" Shoko and you stifled your laughs before Gojo argued with the girl.
"Oh, Utahime, crying again about things you’re not strong enough to handle?” You watched the dark-haired girl's face scrunch up in anger, Shoko immediately went to massage her shoulders whilst you put your hand up and waved Satoru off. "You're so dead!" Utahime seethed through her teeth fanning the flames of anger that had built up for so long.
Shoko noticed the familiar way the two would fall into, she cooed to the girl next to her. "Don't listen to him. Satoru only texts me and Suguru, and we don't even respond to him that much." Utahime couldn’t help but find herself lulled by the brunette’s voice while the white-haired boy found his heart crushed by such.
Satoru cried out to Shoko, "How could you say that!?" The four of you watched in amusement before Suguru told Satoru off leaving Utahime to agree angrily. "But you guys never text me!" The white-haired boy cried, "Who am I supposed to send all these pictures to and talk about the memories with if none of them will respond!?" You all watched him in confusion, except for Utahime who was watching him with a smirk on her face.
"When Shoko doesn't answer, you know who I depend on?" Utahime chirped, her voice hiding the sinister tones of wanting to show-off to the lonely sorcerer, she hopped over and wrapped her arms loosely around your neck from behind. The way Utahime said your name made you flush, you couldn't help but smile at the attention, "I only answer because I know how lonely you get without Shoko." You waved her off.
This interaction left Satoru in a conflicted state, the brain combated Utahime's as if the two harbored telekinesis, he couldn't think of any reason as to why he would even want to text you in the first place. Satoru huffed at this before waving his hands dismissively, "Who would wanna text them anyways?"
Utahime smirked at this with her eyes slowly closing to hide her glare, "Oh, I know someone who would wanna text 'em." Satoru found Utahime’s eyes on him, watching him like a predator through her closed lids, he cursed himself whilst trying to find the proper footing for the situation.
All Satoru had in his mind was when the young woman had often caught him staring at you, she followed behind the young man and was the one who found him leave chocolates for you on White Day. Utahime was loud about it, laughing hysterically at such a sentimental Satoru, he knew he couldn’t scare her into not telling you. In result, Satoru accepted this leverage that Shoko held over him.
You took notice of Utahime’s reference to the one who brought you chocolates, "Maybe the person who leaves those things on your desk would really want it." Your ears perked up at this, your eyes wandered away and a look of disdain painted your face, "Oh. I'm not really interested in someone if they can't say it to my face."  You called out. "If they wanted to say something they should say it, I want someone confident enough to tell me they want me. Face to face."
This caused Utahime’s eyes to lazily roll over towards Satoru’s, “Is that so?” The young man wanted to holler into the sky after finally facing the consequences of his actions after teasing the young woman after she was saved by Suguru and Satoru. Satoru needed to tell you to your face, and he did want to do that, someday, it's just that he needed to be sure that he's ready for you. Satoru wanted to break down and cry at the fact that not only had you seen him as a coward for not saying his feelings to you.
Satoru continued to think for a moment, there was something he needed to say to get your number, in some way he needed to convey that he wanted to talk to you one-on-one without it making it seem like he wanted to talk to you in that way. Satoru was a genius, in his own dazed mind, as he then spoke up about whose numbers he didn’t have. "I only have Suguru's and Shoko's." Shoko lit up her cigarette whilst she spoke, "I have everyone here's phone number." Suguru nodded in agreement. Utahime then spoke up, "I have everyone here besides Gojo's number." You nodded at this, "Me too."
Satoru felt his heart drop.
Utahime taunted the sorcerer before her, "Wow. Aren't you lonely, Gojo?" Satoru scoffed at this, "Oh please, what am I missing out on?" The young woman felt the shadow cast over her face as she talked, she looked down on Satoru from a throne, "You're really missing out on such sweet messages!" Shoko nodded at this, "They'll text us all good morning and goodnight." Suguru adds on, "They even check in on us after a mission too. Very considerate.
You had everyone's phone number except his?
What? Even Suguru's?
You had some other dude's phone number and not his?
This wasn't fair! Satoru wants a good morning message from you, to text him after missions with such worry and concern so he can put you at ease, and to say a cute good night message to make sure he gets enough sleep. You would send selfies of yourself or even pictures of you and him together. Satoru was on his hands and knees wondering what in the world he should say.
The young man was torn by such, it killed something in him whilst he shriveled up, he spoke up softly, "Well…" The group all turned their attention to him, they stared in confusion at what he was trying to say, only for Satoru to immediately hush up at his question. Once the young man's aquamarine eyes landed on his executioner, he knew he couldn't allow himself to take such a monumental failure.
'Well, can I get your phone number?'
Such a simple question, right?
All Satoru wants to do is talk to you outside of Jujutsu High, thus he would have to ask for a hang out just the two of you. Wouldn't that be weird? It’s like I’m asking them out on a date! What am I even talking about? I just ask for their number! Satoru knew what this meant however, if he asked you for your info then that would mean he wants to talk to you outside of school hours, he’d never gone on a mission with you and the two of you never talked that much outside of the occasional greetings and formalities when he caught you talking to Shoko and Utahime.
If Satoru asked you for your number that would be a call out to himself, he'd be outing himself to you and letting you know that he wants you to tell him good morning, good night, to worry over him, to send him pictures of you, to come and schedule dates with you–It practically ate Satoru alive as he tried to think of any way to ask you such a thing.
"Well?" Utahime said softly, the teasing grin on her face as she waited for Satoru's question, the young man quickly gained composure and spoke up. "What do I care about? It's just some messages." Shoko watched as Utahime's brow quivered before she spoke up, "It's not just messages. We finally got to plan a hang out together and we can schedule our time to be around one another." The young woman's eyes turned to stars around the brunette.
You watched on in confusion before speaking up, "Well, yeah, that's communication? What a phone is for?" Suguru nodded at this before he spoke up, "I'm glad for it. It was nice meeting up with you after doing errands for my parents." You couldn't help but smile at the dark-haired man, "Yeah. I was so happy to go get ice cream with you, Suguru." You chirped.
Satoru was quick to question, "You guys hang out?" The whole group was very much confused by his sudden inquiry about the arrangements, "Well, yeah, when I got Suguru's number we found out we both shop at the same places just at different times, so we scheduled a time to go together." You explained, Suguru nodded at this, Satoru felt so frustrated by the two of you.
All the white-haired boy wanted to do was go back to his dorm, throw himself into his bed, and slam his fists into his bed while he kicked his legs childishly.
Utahime would notice this behavior quickly, his shock that all of them hung out without him was one that was called to attention, the young woman then shot up and slithered around you similar to a snake. "Yeah. Shoko and I always join them shopping." Utahime smiled at this before whipping out her phone to show Satoru the pictures they took, mainly pictures that contained you in different outfits that you tried on and bought, Satoru's heart whined at the fact he could never see you in person with any other clothing than your uniform.
The only way to get your number without revealing these feelings he so obviously felt is to make it seem like you would need to talk to him. "Well," Satoru started, you all looked over to him, "I should get your guy's numbers since there could be a time where you two need one of the strongest there." Satoru thought for a moment, the idea of you clinging to him to thank him for coming to save you, for you to acknowledge the fact that he came to help you was one that made him smile as he wanted you to think highly of him.
Utahime and you looked at each other before rolling your eyes at such behavior, "Yeah, I think Suguru can take care of it if need be." You informed the white-haired boy, Utahime giggled at your response and clinged to you, "Exactly, we have another one who is the strongest." The girl continued to rub into your shoulder causing you to giggle. The young man found himself now questioning all angles of what to say before he spoke up again, "Well, in case you guys ever need help if Suguru or Shoko doesn't respond."
You scoffed at this, "I can handle myself. Thank you though." Utahime let out a chuckle, she was holding back the boisterous laughter that almost shot out her throat when you shot down his advance, Satoru was scared as he knew he needed to say something to get your attention.
"Well, you're the same grade as Utahime and even Utahime needed my help!" The young woman almost lost it on the young man before you spoke up, "Utahime is very capable, as am I, just because of one mission slip up doesn't mean we need the 'strongest' there at all times like we're not well versed in what we do." You found yourself a bit peeved by his behavior, it was almost as if he was reaching for something and so, you found yourself continuing to watch the young man in confusion.
Satoru needed to be honest if he wanted to salvage anything, he needed to ask for your number and yet, when he looked into your eyes there was nothing more Satoru could say as he found his heart getting caught in his throat. Shoko and Suguru watched the three of you, not really clicking until the two shared a knowing look after watching Satoru’s needy behavior unfold after you withheld your contact information from him.
Due to time with Satoru, Shoko and Suguru have been able to pick up on his behaviors rapidly thus they already knew what the young sorcerer was getting himself into, the dark-haired man was stifling his laughter as he realized his close friend was trying to get your number without admitting that whilst Shoko had found the situation humorous and was joyed that Utahime was not stressing over Satoru’s words.
That was until Utahime looked down on him, a caring look as she found herself almost merciful as a Goddess whilst she bestowed her blessing onto the white-haired boy, in that blessing that would bring the situation to a simmer there was only one thing she could do.  "Oh, Gojo," Utahime spoke up, a softness in her voice that called for the eyes of those who had never witnessed such an act to Gojo Satoru, "Do you perhaps want to talk to us outside of just school hours?" With Utahime’s graciousness rapidly falling into her grasp to crush Satoru’s spirit and corner him.
You raised a brow at this. Why would Gojo Satoru want to talk to me? The two of you would only acknowledge each other when you both were in the same area with a simple greeting. You thought for a minute, he was taking a lot of interest, but you knew the confident and overly boastful Satoru was one who would most definitely hurry up and ask for someone's number if he wanted it, the young man was a bravado type. You were quick to see through his scheme and thus formed your own to get him to admit he wanted your guy’s number to talk to you and Utahime.
You were now all aware of Satoru’s feelings, except for you as you believed he wanted yours and Utahime’s numbers when he only wanted yours, unbeknownst to the man who was on everyone’s mind since he thought he was so clever at his scheme and hiding his emotions that he was practically smirking at his 'greatness'. Sotaru thought of himself so brilliant when he uttered the following, "What would I ever need your guy's number for? I'm just offering my help is all. As one of the greatest, it is my duty to help and protect those who are weaker than me."
No one liked that in the slightest.
Satoru was digging himself a hole, what could any of you possibly do whilst you all tried to think of something to say after such a blunder from the young man, he only stared at you all in confusion since you all went silent trying to make sure the group didn't begin to separate themselves just because of what Satoru had said.
You didn’t get that message though.
"Well, on that note, I'm gonna go." You told them, you found yourself not wanting to beat around the bush and if a man couldn't admit he wanted the numbers, then he wasn't worth the time of getting to know them, "I'll see you all later." You spoke up and waved to the rest of them before heading off.
The group watched you get a fair distance away before they all turned their attention to Satoru, "That's them, huh?" Shoko teased and Suguru held back his laugh with a large toothy smile, "I never thought you'd be so scared to admit you wanted someone's number." Utahime pointed out as she found herself covering her mouth with Suguru covering up his mouth as well to hide his smirk whilst he spoke up, "So you're the one that gave them chocolates, Satoru?"
The group was questioning the young man yet, he couldn't even answer them as he found himself so clouded with the fact that you had left after such words, anyone else would've swooned at that line and have acted upon handing the number over. You wanted Satoru to admit he wanted your number; in his mind you wanted him to fork over every possession that meant anything to him and devote himself to you.

Satoru wouldn't mind that, even if it does take him awhile to finally profess his feelings.

Nanami Kento
You’ve thought of Nanami for a very long time, honestly, there was something so graceful about the way he handed all conflicts, defended those with such language that left higher ups perplexed, and even inspired those to do their best regardless of his unchanging tone. You find this type of lens to view such a magnificent man that you find yourself often becoming absorbed in all things he does as you find yourself fascinated in his ways.
“Nanami Kento, one of my hardest workers being able work with you! You should be very grateful; he has experience that spans across the many departments!” Both hands on your shoulders like a bicycle as you looked up at the blond with a look of straight-faced man who had been overworked by this company, you were jealous by how he was allowed to look that tired, but you had people in the office comment about the dark circles under your eyes.
You had always hated that about the workplace, the treatment that you had been put through, your boss’s hands on your shoulders made this even more apparent as you tried to handle the disgust you felt as you looked over at the blond.
You watched as Nanami stuck out his hand to you, “I’ll be very grateful to work with you, I’m sure you have experience beyond me.” Nanami said your name with a coolness, you admired his work and ease with situations, “Oh please don’t be so humble! She was just a secretary before I so graciously made her a team worker!” Two pats on your left shoulder almost made your stomach shoot out your throat and onto the blond before you.
Nonetheless, you persevered, “Likewise, Nanami.” You shook his hand with a closed eye smile to not display the glare you wanted to give to everyone in the room.
You had no real problems with Nanami, until you realized how everyone would favor him compared to you. You told everyone to get to work and while they dragged their feet, once Nanami came in and said something they were doing backflips to their work to impress the man on the same level as you.
That’s what Nanami told you.
A humble man indeed, he had more of an effortless way of doing things and with how he did it there was more of a reaction from the members left you standing almost like a doll next to him as if you were nothing but decorative furniture to highlight Nanami’s traits.
As of right now, you were just a nagging old hag that had to make sure your team knew what they were doing.  “...So demanding!” They complained to Nanami, the whispers weren’t so hushed as the childish way they called out to the man was as if they were children not being given the silver platter. It disgusted you, these people who believed they deserved the high-class treatment while you were one who stayed up long nights to help finish projects they decided to procrastinate and then have them take the work you did and slap their names on them without a care in the world.
Your small smile stayed etched in your face, sewn lips that stayed in a curve holding nothing, but the look in your eyes that always had a fog from being lost in what would take place after work. It was what your boss had suggested. “Oh, Nanami, I don’t know how you handle working ‘em!” One of the men complained to him, you remembered every assignment you had completed for him after he sobbed, and snot rocketed your clothes begging for you to help him.
You only scoffed at his talk about you, you rushed quickly to clock your hours, never working late as you had matters beyond all their comprehension. You never wanted to stay once you heard them talking about you, it felt like you staying to hear it all would make you look like you were some masochist or some welcome mat that waited for the dirt in your mouth happily. You’d never willingly stayed when they talked bad about you to Nanami, you assumed he’d join them anyways in the hate bandwagon.
While they stayed to get beers, do karaoke, and talk bad about coworkers they would then treat as if they were born from the same womb with a hateful glare under sickly sweet smiles. You were quick to rush out the building, making your way down the street with your heels clacking against the concrete with a brightness in your eyes that competed with the streetlights around your work. You rushed as fast as you could, dropping your train card as you were as eager to leave work as a newly adopted puppy.
It wouldn’t take you long, with the way you rushed you were surprised if it took you longer than 30 minutes. You found yourself alone on the street only to turn the corner and a long line of people waiting patiently to get inside the underground building. It had a large garage door with a painted girl with bright pink curls, white frilly outfit with a large mic in her hand as she winked to those in line.
You quickly made your way through the back, definitely late but not in a way where the audience was beginning to lose their marbles over the timing of such an event. You we quick to make your way through and found yourself putting on the makeup that had awaited you.
“Where have you been!?” Your co-worker shouted, sitting right next to you in the second vanity mirror as he placed the bright pink wig in his head that had two large heart shaped buns with hair draping from them. You spoke softly, a smile that felt perfect on you as you appealed to him, “I was caught up with work, they hired some new guy in the department and now I’m stuck with someone who does my job “better” because he’s more “easygoing”-He doesn’t even talk that much, he just hums and nods and doesn't have anything to offer!”
You ranted to your coworker, Nakanishi Mizuki, who had been working as underground idol way before you had even though they had just turned 19. Mizuki was blessed with smooth dark skin with and two-toned heart shaped lips that made him the most vibrant to the cast as the bright make up your managers had you wear were ones that highlighted his features and brought more attention to him.
You admired Mizuki as he showed you the ropes and you bought him food whenever you could when college began to get too stressful for him. All Mizuki could do was laugh at your attitude towards your new coworker whilst you waited for the glue on your false lashes to become tacky, the false lashes curled into one another to form hears above your irises, bright red hearts around your eyes that faded into white in the center of them. You were then given contacts that shaped your pupils into hearts.
“He can’t be that bad, he doesn’t even talk that much?” You scoffed, “Yet he can handle my whole team in seconds whilst I have to help them meet deadlines!” You shouted as you curled the wig now placed on your head, “I feel like an unappreciated mother to my own coworkers.” You hissed; Mizuki only giggled at your words as they applied the gloss on his lips with a soft giggle leaving him.
“Well, I think we better hurry, Tami is most likely waiting on us.” You sighed but nodded, after applying all your heart themed accessories such as large earrings, bracelets, and a choker.
You looked at yourself through the large vanity mirror, a dark red headband that was littered with fake chocolate strawberries, red roses, and candied hearts that cover your ears. Your top was a bright crimson corset that ended an inch above your bellybutton, it had the design similar to a large red heart shaped box of chocolates, it had a nice pink lace accent that follow from the ended of your corset to where the top ended at the top of your chest with the center of the corset having cute chocolate design.
The corset is connected by a bright red ribbon tied into a bow around your neck with a golden heart dangling from the center. You had a bright crimson tiered sleeves, not connected to the corset as they hung off your shoulders and were only on your upper forearm. The skirt you wore was a tulip one, same color as your corset, with a shiny skirt under it that popped out from the opening of the tulip skirt, this under skirt was same color as the nice pink lace design.
There were some cute chocolate designs on the skirt as well, only they were lightly glittered outlines. You wore chunky crimson heels that have a shiny red ribbon connecting to it, it crosses around your calf and reaches your mid-thigh, so it disappears under the skirt. These heels raise you a couple of inches, it varies on the person in the group it all depends on your placing in the group.
Miyuki wears the same outfit as you, however, she only has the tiered sleeve on his right arm while the other is wrapped in ribbons. It’s the exact same make up and style as his is much brighter to compliment his skin tone. Miyuki was fiddling with his skirt, fixing up the three petticoats that was red, pink, and white layered on each other and complained of their heaviness only for Tami to interrupt him.
“You guys should’ve been here 20 minutes ago! Stop gossiping like schoolgirls and get in your places!” Tami shouted at the two of you whilst you and Miyuki looked back at the large vanity mirror, Konishi Tamiko was one of the heads as she danced on stage with you and Miyuki, however, she was more in the background since she spent her time managing finances, getting the word out about performances, and working hard with your other manager.
Tamiko has the most youthful appearance as she is the youngest member. Tamiko is the shortest, she has a tanned complexion due to her gyaru sense of style her hair is often braided and kept under a wig cap or in a bonnet. Taiko loves to wear brightly colored wigs, terrified of bleaching and damaging her hair, she wears these bright colored wigs in all different variations that she keeps in her wig closet.
Tamiko’s wigs change every time they go to do a theme with your group, the managers don’t mind, and fans adore this type of adoration for her appearance. Tamiko wears the same outfit as you, however, she only has the tiered sleeve on her left arm while the other is wrapped in ribbons.
You and Miyuki take photos quickly of yourselves in the mirror before posting yourselves to your idol account, a cute caption with kaomojis and hearts litter the text with the image covered in pink hearts. You put @kisskissasako, Miyuki’s stage name, and quickly upload it before making your way towards the stage.
The three of you listened to the crowd chant your names, finding your hands moving in a rhythm to show a wave of hands leading towards Miyuki’s head rolling out from your side and slowly showing themselves to the audience with a hot pink spotlight landing on him.
The crowd cheered, they whistled and shouted as Tamiko slowly made her way from behind you with her left arm crossing her other forearm and slowly dragging down to reveal her outfit to the audience as she spined gracefully. With one more spin, your back still towards the audience as you then extended your leg back to them before dragging your other leg into a spin whilst your back had arched. Your eyes closed with a warm smile on your face before face landed on the audience only for you to put the back of your wrists onto your forehead and gasp dramatically before letting your hand fall from your forehead to the audience, Miyuki and Tamiko followed putting both their hands towards the audience then bringing them to you as you heard them all shout your stage name.
You almost felt your heart explode once the lights hit you and the music started, you, Miyuki, and Tamiko took your place with one leg out you three slowly dragged your hands up your legs before spreading your arms out and bringing them to your body to wrap around your body as you spun your hips down whilst Miyuki and Tamiko spun them up, doing the same thing in reverse before you grabbed the mic from Miyuki hat was behind his back.
It was tired with a red silk ribbon; your lips were soft and glossed under the bright lights of the blackness of the performance area. Your leg bounced, as you connected the mic with the stand decorated with red, gold, and white ribbons. The words slipped from your lips, a roar from the audience as Miyuki and Tamiko had their mics attached to the sides of their faces in order to continue dancing for the audience.
You brought your index, middle, and ring finger into your palm, extending your thumb and pinky out as you brought it to your cheek and sung the chorus with Miyuki and Tamiko joining in as they bounced up and down rolled their hands from their body to the audience as if calling them over.
The beat had begun to kick in and this feeling was more than just euphoric, the sounds of your crowd shouting your name as if you were someone so important to them than what it truly had to be. Your hips rolled against as the chorus’s beat had begun to slow down, you repeated the words with your fingers still in a hand shape as you called out to the audience with your final chorus causing the audience to shout alongside you.
The lights flew around as you sung different songs didn’t matter as it all blurred together throughout the night, you blew kisses to your audience, shouted alongside them, and cheered for your fellow performers as their solos came and you joined in with all the joy you felt. This night was more than just this one, many nights before, four times a week, and all it took was for you to fully be happy with allowing yourself to feel the moment as sing along towards an audience that treated you like the sun.
After performances were simple, say hello, sign things, take pictures, and listen to your fans tell you how much they loved you. Your heart felt the warmest after shows, once the afterglow of a show had subsided you were now being told by those who loved you and appreciated you that you were someone that mattered to them and they couldn’t wait to see you again.
You soon got changed and went home, making sure to be escorted just in case of situations of deranged and delusional fans who demanded more of you and your coworkers, you took this time to take Miyuki home since you both took the same train, only getting off a stop earlier than him. As you bid farewell you looked at your phone that vibrated, likes and comments that came rushing in after the show that praised you and Miyuki that you hoped he’d see when he got home.
You found yourself immediately passing out, waking up the next morning to say job you had been dreading for the longest. You had slowly made your way over towards your job, taking your time since you had awoken earlier than you predicted and now here you were, looking over work that was done without your help.
The incompetence of your coworkers was astounding as this work was good, but they had never put in that effort before and made you do it by guilting you. You found yourself disgusted by their sudden work ethic, specifically of how much of your coworkers clanged to Nanami whenever they finished their work and hoped he’d critique them only for him to tell him it wasn’t time yet.
You were unfortunately stuck inside, unable to clock out for lunch until you finished your list of critiques and edits for them to make.
“Oh, would you please look at this Nanami?” They cried, the blond man remained stoic, “I apologize, but you need to go check in with other members before–” They cut him off, telling him they only wanted to hear him and not some nagging hag. “She doesn’t need an echo Nanami!” The man chortled. You had heard from your cubicle; it was almost as if forces were testing you today as you knew if you left with the unsubmitted item you wouldn’t hear the end of it from your boss.
“You shouldn’t refer to her as that, in fact, she’s displayed something that a lot of you are failing to do as a team and that’s help one another out instead of trying to dump the work on others instead of having three of your team members check before I or your other team leader see it.” Your ears perked up at such wording, you listened earnestly to how Nanami talked of you.
“Nanami, come on, don’t be like her.” One of the men spoke up, two of your other workers agreed, “As I’ve said before, I do not want to hear you all speak of your team leader like this.” Nanami’s voice sounded of frustration, maybe no one heard his tone, but you did, his hardened walls were cracking and with the fixing of his tie and the clearing of his voice you found yourself a bit lost in what to feel.
“Woah, Nanami, what’s the matter?” A woman cooed, only for him to brush her off, “Oh come on, there’s no way you’re going to defend her like this when she’s never even gotten to know you or anyone else here. What bond could you possibly have for her when she won’t even talk to you like a friend? Just a coworker?” A woman complained alongside the other woman.
“Because that’s not her job.” Nanami chastised them, “She doesn’t have to be your friend, or know you personally, her job isn’t to be your friend. The whole point of her job is to get told what to inform you, check your work when having gone through three or more members of your work, then submit and display that work towards the higher ups. There is no cold tone, in fact, you all speak ill will when she has never done a thing besides not go out for drinks with you all after work.”
The workplace was silence, while some members had already left to lunch your group was trying to invite Nanami without with them after getting their papers checked. You noticed how your group were a bit lost for words, Nanami’s sober persona had now become one that displayed a compassionate side towards those in the office that had gained you an ally in a place where you found yourself hating working for such a place.
You watched as your coworkers dispersed, forming the same groups they had before Nanami showed up thus abandoning the man and casting him aside with you. You found yourself a bit warmer inside, the pale white and gray bleakness of your cubicle showing the bits of color through photos you decided to let your eyes linger at for a few moments before finding yourself getting up and looking over to Nanami who's his expression had reverted back to his serene one as he slowly brought his eyes over to you.
It was a knowing exchange of understanding and thoughtful eyes that spoke essays as you found a soft smiling slowly growing on your lips, you know most likely he was keeping up for appearance as he is a team leader, in spite of all of the other workers though, he defended you when he could’ve easily joined in with them.
You thought for a moment about what to say, you looked down at the toes of your heels before looking back at Nanami, “Would you like to accompany me for lunch, Nanami?” You bubbled. Nanami’s eyes widened a bit, only if you truly paid attention to the way his face looked, you could notice the crow's feet in the corners to deepen a bit upon joining this team.
“Okay.”
Then you two were off, you both went to a bakery where you two were seldom on talking. You two enjoyed your meal together, amongst those chatting around you and the bustle of people on the street. You both looked at one another as you both thought about what to say to one another.  You looked around nervously at your food before noticing the time, you still had 20 minutes of and yet had not said a single word besides talking about what you two ordered.
Whilst you fiddled with your thumbs underneath the table while Nanami had found himself a bit lost in what to say as well, spending time with coworkers was a rare sighting unless it was one specifically told of a boss that his presence would be one that would impact his workplace environment.
Nanami admired that about you, how you left when you were supposed to, how no matter how much you heard you kept coming in and doing your work diligently, and how much you did for others once he was told how some staff would guilt you into doing their work for them. Nanami collected this information in order to make the perfect announcement of how he felt about his coworkers and their carelessness for you.
Nanami hadn’t known you were there; he was so scared of you popping up he feared that maybe you found him to little to late for not defending you sooner. Your invitation for lunch shocked him and thus he found himself incapable of making basic conversation without saying the wrong thing.
“What made you want to work here, Nanami?” You spoke effortlessly, one that Nanami could spot from miles away with how you held yourself in a high regard regardless of how people spoke of you. “Past issues. I was a failure where I was before and thus, I needed to do something I knew I could never fail.” You raised a brow at such an answer, as blunt as Nanami is, you find yourself still lost by such.
“You most likely weren’t a failure, Nanami, don’t be too hard on yourself.” You comforted the man; you spoke calmly to him a smile on your face that gave off none of the energy from when you two first met over two years ago. A cold and detached smile that felt mandatory and stapled by in by the touch of the shared boss between the two of you, nonetheless, there was something in this smile gave a warmness in his heart.
“You’re too good at all you do, Nanami.” You praise earnestly, “I’m bad at speaking, I do apologize for being so quiet around you.” You hush him, “Please, Nanami, there’s need to apologize for such a thing!” Nanami’s eyes perked up at such, “I was a bit careless in what I did before, I feel the same way in this conversation.” You found yourself looking at Nanami with the softest eyes, there was this beauty between the two of you that was embedded under the dirt with water to soak and the sun to beam on it with care.
“Don’t run away from me now, Nanami. You can tell me whatever as long as you’re comfortable with it, of course.” There’s a silence that falls between the both of you and now you wonder if you overstepped a boundary, thankfully you didn’t, as Nanami quickly speaks up about the situation beforehand.
“My previous work was draining, I needed to give it up everything for them and once I gave up on a friend, I knew I needed to leave that line of work.” You nodded at this, while you found yourself unable to say anything you still tried to profess your feelings about the situation to him. “I mean, you may have failed once but the pros may outweigh the cons... Just because you failed once doesn’t mean you can’t help people from making those same mistakes you did.”
Lost in your eyes, your caring gaze, and the way your fingers found the straw of your drink and began to swirl it around. Nanami found himself listening to your words with something in his eyes that began to soften them with a cruelty of reality as you looked towards to the clock and told Nanami that you both needed to head back to the office.
You paid the bill of meal whilst Nanami stood outside, making your way out the two of you began to make your way back over to your office, “I wanted to thank you, Nanami.” You expressed a tender tone with the man as you spoke. “Thank you for defending me today, let me know if you’d like to spend time again.” You say as you make your way out of the elevator and towards your cubicle.
In an instant, you and Nanami began to spend time together. Meeting up at the train station at the morning to go to work with one another, spend lunch together, and Nanami would walk you to your home in the late nights after working those long nights with him.
When you entered his life, your infectious tone and compassionate nature began to dismantle the carefully constructed walls guarding his heart. Nanami had never been so bewitched by someone like this, once before there was one, whose brightness was one that made him want to do more in life and pushed him to go be a salaryman after their departure.
Your connection deepened, Nanami found himself experiencing emotions that had long been dormant, stirred by your genuine care and understanding. Nanami speaking of the one he lost, it took him a long time to open up to you of his fears of uselessness and with your constant affirmations that held him tightly in a warm embrace. There was something Nanami could not shake as the months had begun to past.
You guys had done almost everything, such as getting each other Christmas presents, spending birthdays together, going to do after work shenanigans like getting drunk and doing karaoke. Things Nanami had only ever done as one he had done with no choice unless he wanted his bosses to hate him.
You embodied resilience and authenticity contrasted the bleak and draining corporate world. Your zest for life and unwavering commitment to her values resonated deeply with Nanami, causing him to question the path he had chosen. Your inspirational worlds that called to his past being one that didn’t have to be a burden to him but could push him to do more in the future if he so chose.
“What would happen if I left the office?”
Suddenly, thoughts of returning to Nanami’s true passion in his previous work started to emerge, fueled by the desire to break free from the confines of a soulless job that stifled his want for appreciation and impact those who wanted to do more for those around him who didn't have the capabilities he had as a Jujutsu Sorcerer.
Yet, you didn’t know he was a Jujutsu Sorcerer.
“I’d support you through it all, I trust what we have will last even if you’re on to bigger and better things.”
Your words were chosen so bewitchingly, he yearned to be on the level of your phrasing and tone. Nanami had thought for a moment, what would you do while he was gone? His job would take up so much time. How could you ever see him? What if one day he was gone forever, and it would seem to you that his new life became more important to him than you were? It was new year's, you two had been close friends for a year and some change now, soon reaching your late 20s that made Nanami stop and think about what he was doing as a salaryman. You two had spent this one together, like you did last year, sitting there on your balcony looking over the city with champagne glasses brought to you by Nanami who you thanked cheerfully.
As your relationship flourished with Nanami, he couldn't ignore the harsh reality of your situation – trapped in a job that undervalued your worth and failed to recognize your potential. Witnessing you endure the daily grind of a workplace that treated you as expendable ignited a fire within Nanami.
There was something in your eyes, it glowed under the darkness of the night they couldn’t compare to the city lights near the apartment, that glow he never wanted to lose as he made a firm decision to not only be your pillar of support but also your advocate for change, determined to liberate you from the chains of the workplace.
The countdown had begun, you and him counting down together as you found your arm around his waist and his around yours. You brought each other close, leaning your head on his shoulder as heard the other members of your apartment count together. A strike of midnight that cause screams and shouts from the streets and homes with fireworks shooting around the two of you.
At a crucial moment, Nanami found himself standing at a crossroads, torn between the familiarity of his corporate world and the beckoning call of a life filled with purpose as a Jujutsu Sorcerer. With you by his side, he realized that true happiness did not lie in the pursuit of material success, but rather in the freedom to follow one's heart.
It took a while for things to calm down before you and Nanami made your way insides, your laugh lighting up the world and Nanami losing himself as he asks you question. “What do you do on the nights when we don’t spend time together?” The world froze around you both, you hadn’t told him you ere underground Idol, with how things were looking however, you were about to be on a stage that wasn’t underneath a building.
It was nothing big, a venue to host 16000~, that would be above ground this time. You looked up at Nanami, unable to find the words, yet you knew with all this time. You knew you had to tell him though, you cleared your throat and poured another glass.
“Nanami, I’m an idol.”
The words slipped from your throat with a smoothness you wouldn’t have had without the alcohol, you smiled at him and couldn’t help it as you looked to him with the brightest of eyes. “I’ve been an idol since I started working at the god-forsaken office.” You sighed passionately, “If I could do it full time I would.”
Nanami was lost for words, he had no idea you did such work and even more he admired you for such, doing a job that required such rigorous work for practice, voice lessons, and so on. Nanami had no idea he could feel more for you in this moment than he had before in the year and months of knowing you.
“Why don’t you do it full time?” You propped your head up with your chin in your palm, “I’m sorry?” You raised a brow at such, “Why don’t you be a full time, Idol?” You thought for a moment, “Is it because of money?” You didn’t let Nanami finish, be grateful you did as Nanami would’ve stayed in the soul sucking job to provide you the life you wanted. “No, Nanami, I love being an Idol. I really do. I love all the people who support me, cheer my name, and make me feel seen in ways life has never.”
A soft crack in Nanami’s heart as he heard of the love you deserve more than all in the world, admiration for you that skyrocketed as he yearned more for you. “I don’t do it full time because I just don’t…” You thought, “I don't…” Why didn’t you do it full time? If you left your job, you would have more time to do more gigs and do more work, however…
“I don’t want to leave you, Nanami…”
The blond’s ears perked up at such wording, you looked into his eyes with a softness that left you feeling crumbled like a wall torn to pieces by a large wave, you couldn’t put your finger on this new desire that had begun to eat you and now you looked towards Nanami with a gaze that bolstered the feelings that had begun to bubble inside around you.
“ I don’t want to leave you either… ”
The warmness of your home, the dim lighting, the faint sounds of few straggling fireworks being lit for the amusement of those around you, and the way you were here with Nanami’s presence. There was something so loving about this moment you felt your heart ready to explode from the beauty of this moment.
Nanami finding himself also lost in what to feel, the way his heart had pounded made him anxious your silence was because you wanted to hear him struggle to hold himself together around you. A yearning in the half-lidded eyes of both you as you both found yourself coming closer and closer to one another.
“It requires me to travel everywhere, I’d be in so many places performing and I don’t know if your job would allow you to be with me everywhere…” You bit your tongue, you wanted him to be there with you and yet, this moment felt as if you were losing yourself in what could be as Nanami felt himself falling apart with the way you began to bewitch him with every word that fell from your lips that were of so soft…
You watched as Nanami’s hands came out to you, larger and hardened from the years of work, they held your hands and cradled you with his thumbs rubbing against the softness of your knuckles that had begun to eat with a loving feeling. You found yourself looking up into his eyes, had you ever been able to see how close he was to you that his cool and minty breath had hit your lips.
“I’ll find a way to travel, my old job made me go everywhere, I’ll go to places with you to watch you perform and I’ll cheer you on the way you’ve done for me.” Nanami’s words cradle you, you feel his hands slowly slide up your arms towards your elbows and slowly cup your lower back, your breath hitches at such a sudden touch as your lips slowly part almost sending Nanami off the rails.
“Is this, okay?” Nanami questions, a softness to his voice that you had never heard come from him before, he must feel what you do and in a swift moment you feel this desire for more of it. “Of course it is…” Your arms snaking around his neck as you brought his lips towards yours with your eyes closing as Nanami brought himself more into the kiss.
There was something about this kiss that brought you to your knees, and Nanami breaking his neck to have more of you gave you more than you ever wanted in a relationship as he coddled you. There was something Nanami gave you, something working in that office and as an Idol. The appreciation from someone so close to you, for someone to get to know you and bring you into an embrace where all that mattered was the comfort you got as he held you tight to himself in order for you to not to fall while twisting his body to just feel your lips against his. There was something about this chaste kiss that enveloped you into this something that could you swallow you whole, and that was the way Nanami pulled away and asked you, “I want a life with you, away from this job…”
A pause as he took a breath, losing track of time with you was one of the many things that worked as curse against the man who wanted you so dear, “Would you run away with me?” Your lashes fluttered open, looking into Nanami’s eyes that were pained with an expression of rejection as if it wasn’t you then no one else would ever compare to you and be who you were to him in the ways he had you now.
Your hands pulled from his forearms and two his collared shirt, “I’d love nothing more.” You pulled in him, your noses rubbing against each other as you kissed him as if you’d die without it. Nanami brought you closer as you both kissed into the night, the world being nothing but just a force that gratefully brought you two together, forever.

Around 2007 there was a summer festival happening, you think back on it often as it was your first time going out for such an event on your own and to see the fireworks up close instead from the balcony of your home. You were so excited to go, picking out the best yukata with your friends alongside picking accessories with them.
You were over the moon.
Your friend invited you out, yet you noticed that with them came some others you had remembered from past conversations of romances. Of course, the summer would be a long time before they see their crush, so they’d ask for their contact info and spend time with each other. You were quick to tell your friends you would meet up with them to go home since you didn’t want to be the extra wheel that they could barely include in the activities, they understood, and you were off to find a spot to watch the fireworks.
You found yourself deciding to find a nice and quiet spot in order to enjoy the fireworks while your friends enjoyed their times. You weren’t mad your friends, happy for them and all their joys, there is so much love you can witness before you began to think about your own love life. You stood on a bridge, it was small and far away from the action that was the large summer festival happening, you wanted to find some place where all the fireworks would be on display and far enough from all the people.
You found yourself staring at the vast sea of stars in the dark blue night. You were lost in its beauty, it was so mysterious and the brightness of it all continued to stay imbedded in your mind until you found the sounds of a voice become louder, it called for attention that was left with the soft echo. You found yourself softly groaning at this. “Man, I can’t have shit." You grumbled lowly to yourself.
Unbeknownst to you, the strongest known being to humankind would be making his way over to the secluded area just to find a place to be alone for just a minute in his life. The young man, named Gojo Satoru, was one that was escaping the eyes of those watching him for the time being as he had yearned to escape the pressures of his life following the tragedies that plagued his life this week.
Gojo was still complaining loudly about the annoyance of those in higher power than him, the people who had hurt those of a girl he had protected, the abandonment of his friend, and the powers that had taken over his life from day one. You hadn’t heard much, trying to phase him out of your ears only for him to call out to you and you had no choice but to turn around to face him.
You found your face rendered emotionless, hints of irritation in my face since you were honestly looking for a place to escape from people and be alone for a little bit, however, with the fact that he had found you there was a chance your plans were falling through yet again. You wanted a second to enjoy something quietly after your friends had abandoned you for love, you thought for a moment at that and while you didn't blame them you were still very bitter with the reality of it.
You found yourself just looking at the figure, the young man still far enough from you to where it was just a color of his blue yukata. The only light you had was from the bright moon and some of the hints of yellow and red lanterns from the festival that was not too far. You looked up towards Gojo Satoru as you were adjusting your sleeves. Your irritation was noticeable as you sighed before he made his way over to you.
You could see that Gojo Satoru was one who was very unfamiliar to you, his features were ones that were very rare among those who had the same black or brown eyes, maybe even green. Gojo’s eyes were ones that were an eclectic blue color that were a defining trait as they lit up through the darkness and called for attention all on their own in flurry of thick white eyelashes.
You could find yourself admitting, only to yourself at this moment, that Gojo was a handsome individual with pale white hair that fell and crafted his face with his pale complexion. Gojo was on the taller side, around six foot three inches and he was rather lean, his appearance was one that left you shocked as he was one that definitely stood out in a crowd.
"Hello." Gojo called out as he brought his hand up to lazily wave at you and continue making his way over to you. "Hi there." You greeted; a bit conflicting as you didn’t really want him here. You wanted to make sure he vacated the area as fast as he could, there was something about him that left you had drawn in his appearance. To be honest, it was his noticeable sapphire eyes, and you couldn't help but acknowledge his unnatural beauty with the features such as his white eyelashes and his perfect white hair that lulled your eyes.
You started to fall into this cycle of eyes, eyelashes, and hair. You were a bit lost in your mind and, yes, he was attractive for sure. You tried to remind yourself on the mission only for the cycle to keep you entranced once more. You had only one goal, and he was about to interrupt the fireworks starting in about a couple of hours. You decided to be more uninterested in him, knowing if you kept yourself in his proximity, it would only ruin what you hoped to see.
Why couldn’t you stop staring?
You really couldn’t help it, he looked extraterrestrial, a beauty that was one that promised things beyond your normal human life and take you beyond to see the galaxies that didn’t only lie in his extravagant eyes. Gojo took notice of the attention you had paid to his features, feeling the attention of his physical appearance was one that called for a soft smirk to fall onto his lips, the feeling of confidence oozed out his pores as he knew of his exceedingly good looks.
"You like what you're seeing?" Gojo would ask in a teasing tone. Gojo’s eyes were half lidded and conveyed mischievousness that left you in a flustered state while you felt your face began to heat up at the attention you were receiving. You mustered up some type of courage, scoffing at his words and rolling your eyes as you found yourself a bit put off by his behavior, nonetheless, he had caught you red handed.
"Let's say I have…" You started off, crossing your arms as you looked at the young man before you began to awkwardly smirk at his words and tossing your hands up as if you were at gun point. "It is kind of your fault for sneaking up on me." Gojo was amused by your playful response to his behavior. You were a bit put off by it, however he knew that you were just playing along with his attitude.
In Gojo’s eyes you were adorable, he didn’t pick up on your sarcasm not really ignoring yet he didn’t really understand your uninterested behavior in him, this only made him grin in response as he listened to your words. "Ah yes, I truly apologize. I'm sorry for scaring you." Gojo would say, the words leaving his mouth in a teasing tone before he put his hand over his mouth to let out a soft chuckle and you were only lost in his physical attributes.
"You better be." You smacked your tongue against the roof of your mouth to make 'tch' noise before you found yourself looking back over at the star filled sky that was lit up beautifully by the fact it was so far away from the illumination of the city. Satoru didn't mind your response as he continued to stay with you while you admired the stars. Gojo watched as you made your way across the bridge.
You sat down on the grass in the open meadow that was a fair distance away from the festival. You wanted to rest your legs, sighing once you were allowed the relief of the situation as you hoped he would go away once you walked away from him. To your dismay Gojo only watched with a soft grin on his face and then followed after a couple of minutes. In those minutes Gojo thought about everything that had happened to him and in many ways decided to make his way over to you, taking a seat next to you with him leaning back with both of his arms behind him.
Eventually, Gojo’s view came to face yours as he noticed that you were staring up at the stars, a faint shine in your eyes that he had noticed before when staring at you. The young man hadn’t told you that he had been lost in your reaction to him, alongside your looks as well, he couldn’t help but just watch you watch the stars.
You wanted to slam your skull into the dirt with the strength and ease to damage any chance in you remembering this.
The millions of questions bouncing around your skull was one that only made you more irritated by the young man’s existence as you felt his presence only a couple of inches away from you. Honestly, you could continue to sit there and question what you really wanted at this moment with his presence being one that was beginning to make your thoughts get overrun with contradictions/
‘I mean, it’s not like it’s that bad…He’s attractive? It doesn’t excuse it. There is something seriously weird with him wanting to be around me, maybe this is his spot and I’m intruding on him, and he just doesn’t want to give that up.’ You began to feel bad about this now, if he had been here before and just wanted to enjoy it then you had no real reason to complain as this spot was pretty good and you wouldn’t leave it either, you were a bit timid by such and thus you decided to just stare up at the sky to avoid talking. You found yourself so lost in the sky that you had so desperately wanted to be enveloped in.
This distracted you from Gojo's existence for a while, as you found yourself with sky imprinting in your eyes whilst you continued to stare up into the infinity of the stars. You were so lost in the stars as he slowly spoke up about it. "Seems you enjoy the night sky." Gojo spoke up, his tone still maintaining the playful sound he had used previously. "Mhm…" You told him lazily, honestly, you didn't want to be around Gojo in any way shape or form as you were lost in embarrassment and anger in yourself for not being able to properly adapt to someone like Gojo there.
You tried your hardest to distract yourself from Gojo’s presence, however, it seemed Gojo wasn’t letting you forget he was next to you no matter how much his mere presence itself had kept you on your toes. You really didn't know what to say, not like you didn't want to talk to him, you just didn't want him to make me miss the fireworks when they went off. So, you kept yourself distant from it all and continued to look into the night sky.
"I'm just waiting for the fireworks…" You explained softly, your lips pursed in anticipation as you found your hands falling to your side trying to stabilize yourself with nothing else to truly say, unbeknownst to you that Gojo was still quite interested in you regardless of your distance from him. Gojo was amused by you even when he soon realized that you were lost in your goal.
Gojo nodded along to your explanation as he waited as well for the fireworks. The young man then spoke up again as he tried to maintain a conversation with you. "Fireworks are a rather beautiful thing. It's always fascinating to watch their beauty as they light up the dark sky and bring forth beautiful colors into the black." Gojo would say as he continued looking at the night sky with you. Gojo wanted you to think he was smart, sophisticated even, there was a lot of feelings that had built up in him that had hoped he had made a positive impact to feel more comfortable in talking to him.
"It is very much one I long to see after seeing it from too far of a location…" You sighed to yourself, you were desperate to make sure that you wouldn’t miss these fireworks and that you wouldn’t be distracted by someone trying to interfere, Gojo found his head perking up at what you had said. “Is this your first time at a Festival?” Gojo asked before chirping, “It’s my first as well!” You found yourself now very conflicted by the situation as you no knew what his motives were.
Why is he here then?
You were lost in Satoru's words before answering him, “Yeah.” The wording that was used in Gojo’s explanation made you realize how many times you had really missed the beauty of fireworks. You couldn’t really say anything, now the question of why he was staying here with you was one that stayed dormant in my mind before you found yourself trying to gain the confidence to ask him a question.
Gojo was fighting against the other version of himself trying to continue his playful nature and to pursue you as a person. ‘They’re just a bit shy. We can do this!’ Gojo thought as he turned to look at you and yet, he found himself just staring at you for a minute. Unbeknownst to you, this was just an assessment on Gojo as a person as he came up to you, a random civilian, to just talk to someone he found interest in.
Yet, here Gojo was, finding himself a bit lost in what to say once he found his on yours pleaded for honesty and the look on your face was on that highlighted pure anxiety and uncomfortableness. The look on your face ate Gojo alive in those moments as he stared into your face.
Gojo quickly found his eyes darting away from yours, wanting to drop dead at the very thought of hurting you at this moment, he found his heart pounding violently against his chest before he found his eyes back on yours with this pleading look of wanting to tell you every thought that had raced through his mind and left his legs bouncing quickly at the idea of leaving you.
“Why are you staying here?” You found the phrasing leaving with such effortlessness that left you a bit scared by it, honestly, what could you say as you found yourself a bit worried by the sudden interest in you before Gojo saw the confliction on your face and he could see how you wanted him to be honest. All Gojo could do was continue to find this gnawing feeling at his heart while he tried to say something snarky, witty, or something to make you feel flustered.
In your eyes, the one that reflected the full moon with the grace of God, there was ache that shot into the young man’s heart as he found himself still lost in what was in front of him. "I, honestly, don’t know." Gojo spoke with honesty in his voice, a small yearning to be around you are causing him to feel confused and conflicted.
Stay with you? Why?
Gojo Satoru, the man who could rewrite the world with the simple flick of wrists, couldn’t answer such a question. Gojo couldn't explain and he was lost for words as he felt a feeling within him…A feeling he couldn't describe. The feeling that Gojo felt for you seemed so foreign to him, yet, he had come to realize it with the change in ideologies that had allowed him for an instance feel the emotions he had longed for.
This feeling, however, was one that brought him great burden. The familiar feeling that left the young man heart broken once before, it tore him apart violently, and all he could do was just find himself conflicted on the feelings that began to bubble up. You asked why he wanted to stay with you as if you already knew the true answer. A part of it was his feelings towards you, however, as he got so acquainted with the feeling that he had sworn off, he continued to find in your eyes.
“I like your company…” Gojo didn’t even know what their company was, if you were kind, wanting the attention, in a desperate need to escape from him, there was nothing that allowed him to find himself prepared for the words that came from his lips. You hummed at this, unfamiliar with the young man’s company yet, you decided not to deter him. You gave a small sympathetic smile that left Gojo with all the feelings from before washing away.
You found yourself looking back up at the sky, you had taken notice of how quiet to how the once o chatty young man went quiet after your question, you didn't truly know what to say as you found a bit in fear in the thick tension. You stumbled over things to say, questions to ask, your tongue was practically tying itself together whilst you tried to find the words to help save whatever the two of you could possibly be talking about at this moment.
"What made you want to come see the fireworks?" You questioned, your head turning to face Gojo with a soft look on your face that conveyed confusion and inquiry. Your eyes softened at the time of making eye contact, finding comfort in what seemed like a galaxy inside of Gojo’s eyes, with a soft smile pulling up the corners of my lips.
Gojo found himself perking up at this, the smile ignited something in him that wanted him to unleash all this energy that was low that now skyrocketed through his blood stream, his face looking back at yours with a larger smile whilst his face lit up like child’s. Gojo spoke in the same manner just as he did before. Calm, quiet yet confident in the words that escaped his mouth.
“I’ll be honest, I didn't really come for the fireworks. I mostly came for a chance to interact with other people since it was rather boring being at home. Besides, it's good to meet new people once in a while." Gojo said with a half-lidded look on his face, his eyes fluttering closed as he thought back on past memories, “It’s really hard to get out in the world, y’know?”
You nodded in agreement taking note of what he said, since the fireworks don't truly matter to him and in this moment, you took that chance to realize that he could potentially make you miss the fireworks. Nonetheless, you stayed by his side and allowed yourself to be around him and continuously absorb everything and all he had to offer to you for conversation at this moment.
"I never got the chance to see the fireworks up close." You said softly, "I wanted to see it with friends. Now I'm here…" ‘Alone.’ You thought to yourself, almost getting disrupted by it all once you realized your situation. Gojo looked towards you as he had to resist the urge to swoon at your voice when it softened. The way that you talked was so enchanting, “What about your friends?” You answered Gojo without hesitation, “With other people…”
Ouch.
Gojo felt as if he, and he alone, slaughtered the mood, it was gasping for air in his arms and he knew he needed to say something or anything to continue this conversation and be around you, "I know nothing of your friendship!” The white-haired boy blurted out, you jumped a bit at this before he quickly spoke up again, “I mean, I have friends…” You raised a brow at this, Gojo grew flustered at this fact and pushed himself in the conversation. “However, since you and I are…alone…at this moment.”
Gojo couldn’t get over the word that told of his loneliness, admitting outright was one that he still couldn’t fathom, and his spirits definitely depleted at the very idea that he was here sitting with a stranger, he looked over to you and found himself lost in your eyes once more. “We can see the fireworks together." Gojo spoke softly, you smiled at this, and he returned it, “I’d like that.”
Gojo saw the look that was back on your face as you spoke up about how you were alone. You looked at the sky as your eyes slowly parted from Gojo's, he yearned for you to look back at him and even more, he just wanted to see you once more just look at him with those eyes that slowly peeled him open like an envelope. "If I may ask, could I know your name?" The young man spoke up as he directed his look towards you once again.
You told Gojo your first name, quickly, you felt your fingertips fall on your lips before the young man raised brow at your behavior. You collected yourself quickly then told him your last name instead. "You have a nice name.” You nodded awkwardly, “Yeah.” The two of you left alone for a minute before Gojo spoke up again, “Is there a reason why you forget to introduce yourself with your last name and not your first name?" Gojo asked in a curious tone as he then paused to take note of the sigh that you made right after he pointed it out.
"No, I just…" Everything you were telling Gojo only made you feel even more embarrassed being around him, "I just don't meet new people often…" You found yourself lost in what to say as you then went back to staring into his as if he had relieved me of all of the pains in the world. Your head tilted a bit, the stars in his eyes whilst you laid in his, "What's your name?"
"I'm Gojo Satoru." Gojo spoke softly as he continued to get lost in you, your physical attributes that left him in awe that someone could walk the earth so perfectly. Gojo knew his staring was wrong, yet he could tell how you were looking at him longer than you should've as well. Gojo couldn’t truly pull away from it all, he found himself still needing to say everything that came to his mind the second it came to it, a hefty burden for such a talkative boy.
“You’re staring…”
"I guess I am."
"They're…" You found yourself just staring into them, they were such a surreal shade of blue and so much of its beauty was one that rivaled the stars above the two of you. "They're very inhuman." You said softly, you were almost in a phase where the act of looking in was one you could not combat thus leaving you speechless as you found yourself just staring at the beauty that was Gojo Satoru.
Gojo couldn’t help but laugh only for him to snort like a pig, it was such an embarrassing moment for the young man as he found his hands coming to collapse his face, it left you looking at the boy in disbelief. You both flinched away from one another when the noise left his throat, Gojo covered his mouth whilst your lips begin to get wobbly as you tried to conceal the laugh that was about shoot out of your mouth, the two of you continuing to look at one another before you couldn’t contain yourself and began to laugh hysterically.
Gojo’s embarrassment quickly diminished upon looking at your face, the smile that graced his eyes was one that would keep the societal standards of true human perfection, enjoying watching the smile begin come across your face. It was the only look he ever wanted to see on your face. Gojo found himself just letting you laugh at him, anything for you, he kept his full attention to you as he waited to see what you would do next.
After a while you noticed Gojo just staring as if he was mesmerized by something, you couldn’t help but feel your smile soften before you began to ask Gojo his age and about his schooling with you relaying the same info back to him. Gojo nodded slowly as he spoke, "Well, then I would guess that you are in your final year in high school then, right?" Gojo asked as he brought his hands behind his head as he looked at you through his half-lidded eyes that were filled with a sense of curiosity.
You sighed to yourself, "Sadly, I am in my last year." you huffed, this summer was made for you to have the memories, here you were chatting to some stranger. You were a bit conflicted about your feelings, and even more, you were starting to question where your goals lie with this realization.
It wouldn’t be long before the fireworks started, calling out by an intercom in the area, you were overjoyed by the reality that ran from the feelings of loneliness you had once before. You had found yourself in a comfortable silence with Gojo, it gave you the chance to think about this moment and everything that led you here before you found yourself hearing the chatter of those from afar coming to take their place for the fireworks.
While they were still far away, they were still loud, you found yourself slowly looking back and looking at some people that enjoyed one another such as children on shoulders and couples holding hands. You felt this pang of jealousy run through you. Gojo followed your eyes, the look of all those surrounded by the presence and affections of others was one unfamiliar with following a month since the incident, he looked over with this feeling of belonging.
Gojo’s eyes fell, wandering for a bit before they found your hand that was placed on the ground, he was hypnotized by such ideas of physical touch that the act of handholding caused Gojo to sweat bullets violently. The young man thought for a moment and quickly dismissed all thoughts of holding with his leaky palms. Gojo watched as you slowly turned back and putting your hands in your lap and looking back up at the stars that surrounded you.
Satoru saw you and the way that your face had changed. The look of disappointment that had cradled it was one all to familiar in his memories as he found himself back on the pavement with his fist clenched whilst his friend walked away from him, he found your eyes resembling the same vivid feeling of anguish and resentment, he was quick to direct his attention to you.
"Do you feel lonely by any chance? To be watching a sight such as watching fireworks alone." Gojo spoke in a slightly sorrowful tone, these emotions were only familiar to those of that day he was tossed away. Gojo knew that this was wrong, nipping at his skin before he found himself so overwhelmed by the feeling, needed to help you.
"Yeah…" You said softly, still looking at the sky before you questioned Gojo, "Do you feel lonely?" You found your head falling to look at Gojo, "You're not here with any friends or family…" The young man found himself softly sighing, he couldn’t really dodge the question, "As much as I would love to say I don't, I do." Gojo spoke in a more serious tone than usual as there wasn't a soft smile that accompanied his response.
There was some sort of sadness surrounding his tone of voice and the look that he was giving you. It seemed as if he felt alone most of the time, even though he had all the company and attention of those of his world, the one and only he could only want was one that had long left him. Gojo seemed to be a bit hurt by your question, he felt a bit ashamed for feeling alone most of the time even though he wasn't truly alone with you there, he looked up into your eyes with a softness unfamiliar to you at this moment.
With you unable to find the words to talk to Gojo, you felt it was best to give him this time before you directed yourself back over to the fireworks that were being lit at the moment, you found yourself at the edge of your seat as you found your eyes enlarging at the sound the firework shooting up and the pop noise that came after to leave you the sight you had longed for so long.
The bright lights, the designs, and all the rapidly changing colors that were illuminating the area and bringing you more joy than you could ever conjure in your years as you continued to find yourself so lost in the fireworks before you. The way the bright and colorful lights bounced off your skin was one that allowed you to feel much joy and even more comfort in the fact of how much you were enjoying this.
Gojo found himself snapped out of this phase once the first firework launched, he had seen many fireworks and in fact could think back on the many explosions he’s seen, yet none of those scenes could compete with the one right next him. The white-haired boy looking over to you. Your emotions were written on your face as your smile was one of joy, your tears were there, and your beauty was one to adore. This spot certainly brought out many different emotions in you as you just saw something so beautiful.
You felt overjoyed, seeing the fireworks. They were amazing and had a certain beauty and elegance to them that you didn't expect to see tonight. Satoru saw you and how your smile was beginning to widen. Your eyes were filled with such joy which showed you were truly happy. If there was anyone, he could want to see in this moment alongside him, he’d wish for his friend yet, your face came up whenever this feeling began to overtake him.
Gojo looked at your face, no words to describe how lost he was in it and what had entrapped in this stare, he knew that it was one that gave him this new look on the way he found human life so memorable. The simple fact you were so determined to see the fireworks was one he admired, he watched as your emotions were ones that gave him the same type of feeling from an old friend of his, and the fact you had stayed with him this far was one he applauded.
Gojo wanted so bad for you to be in this moment as he couldn't help but smile as well as he looked at everything that was unfolding in front of him. This night had been beautiful and amazing so far. However, Gojo could see it going even better. Gojo was lost in the moment with you. In the way that you spoke about the fireworks and how they filled you with joy. Gojo couldn't take his eyes off of you until he found himself getting up, you raised a brow at this and reached out for Gojo before he turned around and looked down at you with a small tilt of his head, the look on you face left his motor skills impaired.
Gojo was presented this small pout on your lips, this longing looks in your eyes, and the sound of your voice when you asked him if he was going to leave. The hint of sadness in your face left Gojo with the feeling that stayed embedded in him for such a long time, you found yourself slowly letting go of his yukata once realizing he wasn’t going to stay.
Gojo found himself lost in al his feeling, a push to run away from it and to continue to pursue a future where those he cared for smiled on him, he thought for a moment on everything he could have truly done in all the things that had plagued his life from birth such as the powers that were engraved into his back with nothing but shrapnel and the fact that the world was the way it was that left him with no hopes for anything in his lifetime as he hoped for the future be brighter for those in his and the human world.
Gojo didn’t waste any time snatching up your wrist, you gasped whilst he did so and you called out Gojo’s name in confusion, he pulled you up effortlessly and hooked his arm underneath your knees. “Let's go see the fireworks.” You raised a brow at this, anxiety plaquing your face as before Gojo closed his eyes softly and brought you closer to him, you instinctively wrap your arms around Gojo’s neck before hearing a firework launch.
In those seconds, Gojo began to pull up all the energy he could conjure just to find himself in the dark and empty sky, he put his feet down on the ‘ground’ before calling to you. You were still in his arms, a bit shocked by why he held you this way, you questioned Gojo before you looked down and tried to stop yourself jumping out of his arms in fear.
You were in pure shock at where the two of you were. Yet, all questions were ones that were answered quickly when a bright light came rushing up from under you and Gojo causing you to yelp out in fear. Gojo quickly teleported out of the way, the two of you left in shock as you clutched your chest while Gojo had begun to laugh hysterically as he found the fear on your face the funniest thing to have blessed his eyes before you finally let your eyes open to look at the bright light shooting before you, after finding his footing he looked down at you with a large smile and the brightest eyes.
“You like the view?”
You were lost for words, honestly, what could you have possibly said in this moment before a firework sound shot past the two of you and before your eyes. You couldn’t help but find your mouth falling slowly agape at the bright light before you, similar to the sparklers of the kids you saw from on the balcony, only that it was bigger and the light in your face was the equivalent to a large fire.
You hadn’t known Gojo would be using his power, Infinity, to slow down the firework to allow you to see it in more detail. Nothing could bring Gojo more joy than to watch your eyes light up at the fireworks that surrounded you, too far for anyone to below to you see you both, you indulge in your luck with your eyes continuing to find themselves large and bright.
You and Gojo would be up there for awhile, you were still shaking when Gojo teleported back to the spot, you felt your blood rush and you were overjoyed by it all. “Gojo! That was amazing! Oh my god-!” You exclaimed, cutting yourself off with laughter, as you look down at your hands still shaking you turned to look over at Gojo with your eyes bulging out of your sockets.
“Did you see them, Gojo?” Gojo sighed, “Sadly, I was making sure you didn’t fall out of my arms.” It wasn’t sad. It was one that left Gojo in utter shambles at the fact he was bringing you so much joy, in fact, he could have been found out right there and killed in that spot with nothing holding hm to this world and bringing him back as a vengeful spirit. “A bit disappointed this will only be for one night…” You raised a brow at this, “It doesn’t have to be just for one night…” You smiled at Gojo, a large warm one that painted him pink, “We can do this yearly, if you want.”
Gojo had to contain his excitement, “I would like that very much.” The young man said cooly, holding back all his giddiness in the fact he would see you once more, the message imprinted in his mind that you wanted to be around for years was one that left the young man in the purest form of happiness that had gave him the sense of familiarity with you before you had to remind him of your predicament.
Gojo looked at you with the softest eyes until you told him the news, “The fireworks are finished, I have to go meet up with my friends…” You said softly, this crushed the young man, yet he hid it remarkably, “Of course.” You then began to distance yourself, looking at him with a pleading look in your eyes while your actions spoke against it, “We’ll meet at the same spot.” You reminded him, only to feel as if you were forgetting something.
You quickly turned your body back to Gojo and ran to over to hm, launching yourself at him and holding him tight. Gojo returned this hug, a soothing rub against your back before you pulled away and began to walk backwards, “Don’t forget me!” You told Gojo, he nodded eagerly as his features began to soften with the idea of seeing you once more, you found yourself a safe distance away from him where you began to make your way back over to the festival lights that left Gojo near the bridge.
Ever since then, Gojo had returned without fail to the bridge to watch the fireworks, even bringing Megumi to come see them annually as he relayed the story to him on the way to the festival as he did all the things for Megumi, he did for you and continued to come back even in his older years. It had been years since the two of you first met, now, he was bringing his students to go see the fireworks you both watched on that day.
“Wow, that’s a long time.” Yuji commented as Nobara was in awe by the story, “It’s very sweet that you come to visit them every year.” The two were fascinated by the story, practically launching out of the car to go to the festival which left Megumi and Gojo alone for the moment, Megumi looked at the man who had been raising them these past years with the same look he always had on these days they headed to the festival, Gojo took notice of staring before humming.
“Hm?” Gojo smiled as he adjusted the yukata that held the same design from all those years prior with it being adjusted to him with the years going on, “The same one?” Megumi raised a brow at before Gojo nodded eagerly, “How else will they recognize me?” The two then made their way through the festival as the group enjoyed the sight and then made their way over to the spot where Gojo once was.
“You think they’ll come this year?” Megumi question, a softness in his tone as he felt he was treading on cracked ice, he looked at Gojo with a genuine curiousness before Gojo only sighed to himself still holding the smile from before. “Most likely not.” Gojo said with the words leaving his lips carelessly as he found himself at ease just being in the location.
“What happened to them?” Megumi questioned, Gojo found it easy to answer with his blindfold on, “The same thing that always happens.” The raven-haired boy hadn’t understood the concept of this trip, watching his friends run off to the food stalls in confliction,
“Then why do you come here?”
You hadn’t come to visit him since that night, and while he knew he had no real choice but accept what was the truth, there was a feeling that lingered in soul that you were not too far.
“It’s still nice just to be here though, right?” Gojo asked Megumi, going for his hair and lightly ruffling it before directing his attention back to the sky that always remained the same no matter how many years, as the older man’s eyes stayed targeted on the sky whilst Megumi told the man softly, “Yeah. I guess so.” The young boy let Gojo have this moment, keeping silence as he watched the sky alongside the man.

You ran through the hallways of your now former school, you were out of breath with your shoes hitting the ground harshly with the sound of your exasperated breaths trying to keep up with your speed. You found yourself running towards your classroom, slamming the sliding door open you shouted to the lingering students, “Do you guys know where Nanami Kento is!?”
The students looked back, a bit in shock by such a disturbance only one called out and answered you, “Nanami’s probably collecting his stuff from the student council’s office.” You quickly nodded, “Thank you!” You were then quickly back through the hallway, some people making way for you as you ran through the hall at such ana alarming speed, “Where are you going, [L/N]!?”
You knew you had to make your way to the second floor, you practically flew down those steps with speed that rivaled a cheetah’s, you found yourself jumping on the railings and onto the other side of steps without a care in the world for the rules you had just broken today. You continued to make your way down the hall and towards the large doors that lead into the student council’s office with a piece of paper tightly gripped.
You watched from afar as a familiar blond boy was making his way out of the student council office, he had just finished locking up and held box in hands that held some items such as items from school events. The boy looked down at the box with his fingers digging deep into the carboard with a neediness to revert back to his youth.
There was nothing that could hold him in his warm youth, this was his destiny–
“Nanami!”
The blond’s head snapped up, he looked over to find his eyes on your frazzled figure, your chest heaved as your eyes were softening at the acknowledgment of your existence. The way his eyes lit up made you feel warmer, the pools of honey that had the sun glazed over them only impacted this feeling with more of a chance to see the beauty that was in the letter that you still gripped tightly between your thumb and index finger.
You had run all this way to see him? Nanami questions the work of a curse to drag you into capturing him with how he graced he was to be in your presence, it almost left him weak in the knees, with your voice to sooth all the muscles that ached there was such a high chance for his body to give up on him at that moment.
Only a few could beat this information out of Nanami, all you needed to do was say his name for him to spew all his deepest secrets.
You two stood far, only Nanami noticed how you had begun to make your way slowly over to him with a small smile. This ‘small’ smile only got bigger as yours and his aura collided and melted into one large warm feeling that set a blaze of heat to both yours and Nanami’s cheeks.
“Nanami, you wrote this letter for me?” You held it up, the realization shocking his spine as he was quick to adjust his posture and straighten his shoulders, nonetheless, he kept this stoic expression on his face that he had been prepping for High School. Only a nod was given to you, the straight line on his face held back the rush of tears from pure embarrassment and flusteredness that had been drowning his hardened walls.
You blessed him with your large smile, it only brightened his day more as just looking at the way your lips curled up left him with the feeling of living only to see your smile another day. “If it eases your nerves, I want you to know I like you too, Kento.” Oh, Nanami swooned like some lovesick puppy at your words with his heart thumping violently and his head slowly turning to the opposite direction of your head.
“I’m surprised you like me, Kento, you’re so cool and stoic!” You think he’s cool? Practical putty in your hands, unknowing to you as you couldn’t see his facial expression as he strained his face to stay in the same stoic expression that you believed in. “Honestly, you’re like a pillar–I loved being in the council with you, I could always depend on you.” Depend on me? Nanami couldn’t bear to stop doing something that gave you structure, he would always be there to help you whenever you wanted it.
You found yourself a bit awkward, your hands now behind your back as you played with your fingers, this silence was one that made you a bit fearful you might’ve said too much yet Nanami couldn’t have asked for anything better. There was a twinkle in your eye when he put down the carboard box, he sighed with his shoulders falling softly, he then turned back to look at you with his body facing you as well.
“I’m glad you like me.”
Nanami’s name was like the chirps of early morning birds when he said your name, the voice that harbored a brooding tone was now lighter and was accompanied by the small smile on his pale lips. You had always been this caring, it was one the biggest things that drew him to you as he watched you help out your peers and be the person he wanted to be.
“I don’t know what we’ll do after this, Kento.” You found yourself rubbing your arm, “Your friends told me you’re going off to some private high school far away from here.” You sighed with this realization slowly enveloping the two of you with its bitterness, Nanami only found himself sighing as his hand went towards his chest only to find there was a hole in his uniform.
It didn’t matter though, right?
All there was before him now is to become a Jujutsu Sorcerer thanks to a gift he didn’t ask for him that only he was cursed with in his family.
“Kento…?”
There’s a softness in your voice whenever you say his name, it quells his heart and leaves him in a better mood than it was earlier, sleeping happily under his blankets as he thinks back to you saying it. “Kento, are you okay?” There was something on Nanami’s face, the heating of his cheeks accompanied the hot tears that prickled his eyes and stung them harshly as if he wasn’t allowed to cry in the first place.
“Do you need something?” Your hands reached out for his, a tight fist on the side of his hip slowly unbaling allowing you to interlock your fingers into his. The tears streaming down began to become more abundant with the physical comfort you had offered to the blond boy, his eyes quickly shutting tight as he enveloped you into a tight embrace with your head tight against his chest.
“Regardless of it all, I’ll be here, Kento!”  You continued to smile, you were a kid that didn’t really did know the complexity of maintaining a long-distance relationship, especially when the future before you are one that you never suspected in your life. Nonetheless, you promised Kento you’d be there for him and even told him you guys would date when you both were older and free from the constriction of school to live amongst one another like adults.
You know how kids are though.
You had been on such low contact with Nanami it was questioning on whether or not there was actually a way to make sure the two of you could actually be together. Neither of you forgot that promise, no matter how exhausting and draining the years had been, and soon you’d get that chance for the one day you were able to see him.
It had been more than 10 or so years since you had seen the man, bumping into each other, you decided to surprise him with all the knowledge you had collected while talking over the phone due to work and personal endeavors. You found yourself making your way over to a bakery, checking over the notes you had jotted down in preparation for the date as you remembered a bakery Nanami often went.
A brunette girl awaited you; you told your selections as they were of a price higher than what was contained in your wallet. Gracefully, she handed it to you and with a large smile made a comment to how similar your order was to another man who often came. “Blond?” The woman nodded eagerly before you smiled at this and thanked her for it all, you paid and made your way out.
You found yourself with a pep in your step, an outfit that had coddled you lovingly with an embrace that tickled you as much as what the rest of your day held for you.
You continued your way down the shopping district, looking around before finding your eyes landing on a lovely phone charm, you felt your face swell in happiness before you pulled out your wallet and had bought an adorable phone charm that had one that matched alongside it.
You felt your eyes crease in from the expansion of your smile, “Your phone charm fits you.” Nanami had called out to you and all you could do was smile bashfully before speaking up, “I’ll find you one that fits you too. We can match!” You chirped.
Nanami’s only response was one of a simple hum. Nanami’s hums were like a dictionary for you, you had them all memorized from tone to context to the way he elongated it. Nanami wasn’t opposed to such, and you weren’t either.
You looked at the two charms, holding them up to sun once leaving the establishment with such a large grin. They clashed against each other, colors and expressions, yet they went on to be ones that were magnetic to hug one another. Your favorite animal and Nanami’s both embracing each other with expressions that painted the beauty of what you and Nanami had with one another.
You had all your things packed, a large bag on your side as hit against your hips as you walked down the street, a large blanket with an assortment of foods, drinks, and other memorabilia over the years to commemorate the first date you and Nanami had ever had. The streets were long, there was a beauty that consumed you in such a way that you could feel your heart be swallowed up by the loving feeling.
The sounds of your heels come to a halt, you were very far from your last destination, stopping to see a beautiful watch through a window, it was sleek with a brown strap embroidered with gold silk that had an intricate design. You see two adults, you’re across the street from the shop as you see the two stop to look at the watch, they seem so familiar as they stop to look at the watch.
“Hm.” Nanami said softly, he was investigating the watch with an attentive gaze before your head popped up on his side to find your eyes slowly drawn to the beauty before you. “It’s a very nice watch.” Nanami nodded, “The designs are ones that I’ve seen before on my bosses.” You commented, “Most likely the same brand.”
The blonde was so lost in this watch, even though his expression always remained impassive. There was this glow in his eyes that had reminded of you children’s hands pressed against the cold glass to look in at the new toys for sail during the Winter. You made a mental note, you’d get it for him on your first date!
The two walked away from the watch whilst you made you way over to the store to pay for such a gift, a bonus from work you were grateful for as you find yourself sighing as if you had given birth and had been given the hospital bill. Nonetheless, you stay focused on your journey before continuing your way over to where you had spoken of the location.
Only for you to have to change it last minute.
It was a tall hill, a beautiful day as the sun had been doting on you and your outfit keeping everything intact without wind or stain, you found yourself joyful in what you could imagine would be Nanami’s acknowledgment of your appearance.
A party had taken you both by surprise, bumping into each other after years of years of phone calls and messages that held a tight tether betwixt the two of you, “Kento?” You questioned, a blur of blond catching your eye before he looked back at you, up and down with a softness in his face as he found himself almost crawling into his shell.
“It’s me! I hope you can tell; all this fancy stuff is promotional since I’m speaking…” You continued to talk on and on, Nanami lost in how it highlighted all those features that he longed to have etched into his eyelids to bask in such a image when he woke up, to sleep, and to calm him down from such a thought of you.
You found yourself huffing, all the walking you did today was for you still wanting to remain active after sitting at your desk for hours at a time, you regretted not taking the train to your last location as you puffed and almost fell to your knees before looking for your spot.
Stones were apparent, you looked over each conscientiously with a yearning to find where it could lead to your meeting with Nanami. Your fingers followed the trail, coming out before you with bright eyes before slowing down once you found what you were looking for, a beautiful basket of fruits and flowers with him as you continued to make your way over.
You placed your bag on the ground once you finally met up with him, getting your blanket down on the ground you found yourself smiling sweetly at what was in your hands with a hopeful gaze as you looked up to Nanami from where you sat, with your legs under you and knees poking out in front of you.
“I wish I came sooner. I know it was a switch up at the last moment due to work and another location.” You had placed the items from the bakery before him as he was at your level, still taller yet at a place where you could fully visualize him, “Regardless, I’m glad you’re going on our first date! I got you a bunch of stuff!”
You explained them all carefully, Nanami surely listened with ears blocking every sound that wasn’t the call of your enchanting voice in his ears. “I remembered everything! I’m very proud of myself, Nanami. I know you’re proud too, you always are of me…” Your eyes slowly dragging from the opened watch in your hand, the sleep box and the pillow that held it up had left you with a tightness in your chest from how this moment at felt so surreal.
Your eyes soon landed on Nanami, your heart pounding against your ribcage as your lidded eyes only found some soft tears building up in the corners. You cried as you saw the large stone before you, Nanami’s name written clear as day with his birthday and death date to pierce your heart and bring more tears out causing you to sob as you put your head down and closed your eyes.
You brought your head up, not without a struggle against your body that wanted to shield you from the truth, you braced yourself before you brought a finger to wipe it and cried out with an earnest voice, “I’m glad I got to have my first date with you, Nanami.” Your smile, although wobbly, still stayed as you looked at his stone with love and adoration from all the gifts put on it before you.
You were so proud of all he’s accomplished, glad he didn’t die alone with only your texts and voice over the phone, and with such a loving gaze you felt Nanami’s hand on your shoulder with a proudness of how long you put off such an emotional trip by rescheduling. You cried, tears that held a warmness that Nanami yearned to wipe from you yet watched on as you looked on his stone with a proudness of being able to see him one more time.

You were at the airport, having finally gotten off of your flight you decided to find any place around the area that had food that you had desired to eat after it being so long since you had actual food you enjoyed, whether burgers or desserts or even just rice. You walked around the airport, looking around at all the food places until your nose had picked the familiar smell of a food place you used to go to when you were young.
To say you rushed was an understatement as you found yourself immediately lined up at the place, you were struggling to stop your excitement as you clenched your wallet with your eyes slowly tracing the menu like you were about to make sweet love to it.
You hadn’t held back when you were called, all those foods you missed out for since you were 8 had been ticking away at your sanity thus you picked almost everything on the menu, from new items to old and from the meals to the desserts. You remember the pricing, it wouldn’t even dent your wallet, thus you handed over your cash with the largest smile on your face.
Eating all of it was something you had no problem in, however, what you didn’t expect was some of your classmates being there. “[L/N]!” You raised a brow at this before straightening up and trying to hide all the food you had gotten, failure to do so could result in your family finding out about your break from their extreme diet thus docking your allowance, you had no real time either before you were met by Haibara Yu and Nanami Kento.
You remember them from your class since your elders held you in such a disappointed regard in being a Grade 2 Sorcerer. You buried your head in shame once you were selected by Jujutsu High and became a Grade 2 sorcerer, your elders wanted you to be better thus working you to the bone was the only way you had any chance of appeasing them, there was something you enjoyed that came out of this, however.
Since you moved out into the on-campus dorms and your elders had the money you were given a very extensive allowance thus resulted in you keeping a lot of that money to the food you found brought you joy. You were scared that these two might tell someone else about your eating habits. “Wow! That’s a lot of food, [L/N]!” The brunette chirped whilst the blond just nodded before they took a seat with you, you didn’t know what to say before Kento spoke up.
“You usually don’t eat like this on campus.” Yu nodded eagerly at that, “Exactly! You always have those intricate lunches with all those smart foods, y’know?” You found yourself wondering about what to say, yet you definitely found yourself a peeved by such a call out on your eating habits. “I just don’t get to eat like this thanks to the elders.” Yu raised a brow before Kento nodded, “The [L/N] Clan, right? They care much for appearance.” You groaned in response to this, “Yeah. Ever since I had to become a Jujutsu Sorcerer I got stuck on this strict diet.”
You remembered the bright and blurry years of your youth, short lived since you were snatched up to be prepped to become a jujutsu sorcerer, however, there was always something to keep you and the boy in a normalcy was the act opening up your lunch box to see what was held inside. You found yourself overjoyed by the lunch, no matter how simplistic or how childish, every dish you ate was one you ate earnestly with love in every bite and appreciation at every taste.
“Well,” Yu looked over at you, a large smile that creased his eyes to closure, “You don’t need to worry about us! This’ll be our secret.” The young man then pretends to zip his lips whilst his friend did the same, you jokingly joined in before questioning their whereabouts, “Where are you guys heading off to anyways?” Yu eagerly shouted about the plans, amped and excited whilst Kento was one to feel very different by such call, “It truly isn’t a fit mission if two strongest can’t handle it.” You agreed with such.
“And first years at that, I mean, we’ve just started and to give us such missions seems a bit dehumanizing like lambs to the slaughter.” You found that your life lacked any sort of simplicity, you craved the structure that you once had before the elders in your family forced you to become a Jujutsu Sorcerer, you were so young and being torn through by those higher than you that would call for your small head on a chopping block if you decided to stay with your closed loved ones in the beauty that was a life fit for your childhood.
You were bitter by the reality.
Yu was a bit conflicted on your thinking, nonetheless, he found positives in it. “It doesn’t have to be dehumanizing.” You raised a brow whilst you continued to eat your food, you held an open year as you listened earnestly to your classmate, “We’re doing things to help society that only we can do. Isn't that what matters most? Helping those weaker than us.” You found yourself seeing the light in Yu’s words, you held his words dear as they had similarity to those who you held in high regard, you still disagreed, however.
“Depending on children to help the weak means the weak are helping the weak.” You explained, you tied your leftovers up for later and collected the trash you were about to throw away, “If we were actually helping the weak then the higher ups would take on more missions than the children that they’re throwing into the warfare for the fact they can’t control their abilities.” Kento listened to you, the release of his eyebrows to allow them to find care in your words whilst you continued on, “You’re either killed for not wanting to be a sorcerer or you’re killed for being a sorcerer.”
You found your heart hurt by such memories of your childhood, the feeling of someone so bright was one unfamiliar to you and Kento seemed like the only other one who understood that “There is nothing more heartless than asking a child do you want to know how you’re going to die, or do you want to know when you’re going to do die?”
Yu watched your expression with all attention on your eyes, they were dull when talking about the reality of being a part of something so barbaric as described by you, “Even if I’m only here because of my ability, I am glad to help those who don’t have the ability as I do, and even if I am too young to know really know the severity of it all. It will all have been for the betterment of it all.” You found your eyes soften at such, it was the first time they had done that other than when you took a bite of food, “We are still too young for this mission.”
You and Yu’s attention was toward the blond before the brown-haired boy cheered, “Our upperclassmen are wearing themselves out for a young girl! We have to give it our all, Kento!” You couldn’t but notice the unwavering light that was Haibara Yu, unchanging and consistently keeping the true beauty of this world regardless of all the bleakness that had tainted yours, you admired it.
You put the bag on your arm with it sliding down to your elbow, you thought for a moment then some before Kento acknowledged your position, “You nodded at this before getting ready to leave, “Well it was seeing you both. Have a safe mission.” You gave them a warm smile, Kento nodded, and Yu waved eagerly at you when you walked away from the two, however, there was something Yu wanted to ask you which his friend of course noticed. “Well?” The blond turned to the young man next to him, “You know me too well, Kento.” The brunette whined as the two made their way over to their waiting area.
Yu knew exactly what he was feeling, ever since that talk with how your face switched from a child snatched from the wonder to one that had experienced the grace of all things when biting into simple foods, he would often watch you as you got you ate the food off campus and how happy these foods brought you. The time you would leave Jujutsu High just to go to convenience stores and stock up the fridge you had in your dorm just dedicated to you.
Yu oftentimes saw you walk by the group, you paid no attention as the only thing really on your mind was vending machine, they were near, and he’d pay attention to what you got, the specific drinks or the lunch the school had to offer. Yu dedicated himself to asking you a simple question and with that would lead him down the hole of just wanting to see you genuinely smile.
Your coping mechanism for it all was simple, if you began to grow restless or emotionally exhausted or even just because you wanted to, you would splurge on food and the smile that painted your face was one that allowed Yu to feel at peace with such a heartwarming grin on your face that finally allowed you to leave such a cynical way of thinking and allow you to be happy.
Whenever you were on Yu's mind the image of your smile lingers like a gentle whisper, a reminder of a time when the world seemed painted in hues of possibility that even in such a world of pessimism there would be something to bring you joy. It was a chance encounter that made him want to be around you more, and his determination to make sure he does his hardest to make sure he can make you smile.
Yu had begun to make small conversation with you, since you were more reclusive it was a bit hard for him, nonetheless he still made sure to get know as much about you as he could by including you in conversations when you were nearby and always acknowledging you. You two even exchanged numbers one day, you two were on a mission and decided to split up thus the two of you stayed on the phone while apart from another, he would start to text you using kaomojis every morning and anytime you left for a mission to wish you luck.
This would allow Yu to gain more confidence so he would make sure he could ask you just one question, he had called you outside from the classroom door and while you were confused you still decided to get up and make your way over to him, “Yes, Haibara?” Your voice was calm like the stillness of an untouched lake, the young man was a bit intimidated yet, he still asked you this question.
“I was wondering if I could treat you to lunch!” You looked at him, a raised brow and a tilt of your head by such an invitation, you thought about how the first and only time you and Yu had talked was when you told them your views on being a Jujutsu Sorcerer. “Oh?” The silence was evident between the two of you, you wondered why Yu was asking such question, “Oh.” Yu was asking to hang out, most likely he wanted you to join him and Nanami, but he took the initiative to come and ask you to eat with him, you didn’t know Yu meant thus you agreed.
“Sure, Haibara.” You answered, the young man wanted to fly to the moon until you uttered your next words, “I should be the one spending though, I hear a lot about your money problems from Nanami so I would rather pay for your food instead especially if Nanami is coming as well.” Yu raised a brow at this before he spoke up, putting his hands up defensively as he then fully explained his plans to you, “No. I would much rather see you happy on my dime rather than yours.” You then watched as he got flustered, the pinkness of his fair cheeks whilst he continued to smile at you, “I wanna cook for you!”
“Oh.”
A long pause was the only thing you could offer before you choked out your next words, “Cook for me?” You pointed to yourself, questioning what in the world he could be talking about with such a thing, the determined look never feels from Yu’s face as he had this large smile on his face. “You like eating, right? I could make our favorite meals and we can eat it together during lunch tomorrow?” Your eyes widened at such proposal, you felt your own face heat up at such as the offer arrived like a gentle breeze, carrying with it a sense of disbelief and wonder.
You felt a tremor of vulnerability in that moment, someone wanting to cook for you just because they knew it made you happy, it was a sweet gesture that left you befuddled as you thought for a moment. “Would you let me cook for you?” To ask to cook for you? You wanted to melt into a puddle at his warmness, you were standing next to the sun and the beam of his smile with those eyes that could light up a dim room made your heart swell.
“Of course, Haibara.” You smiled at the boy, your eyes creased with joy as you felt this large smile pull at your lips, “I’d like that a lot.”  Yu’s act wasn't just about romantic feelings; it was a declaration that they saw you in a light you hadn't seen shined on you since you were a child. The revelation that someone could perceive you as more than just a cynic after such words was as surprising as it was heartwarming.
Once you and Yu found an area where he wanted to eat with you, somewhere there wasn’t too much traffic yet an area to admire you whilst he watched you eat, once you took you the lid off and uncovered the casing of the food you loved so dear be prepped with such an attention to your feelings caused a puncture in your chest that almost made you fall over.
“Make sure you eat up!” You directed your eyes over to the young man, the shine in his eyes that trampled over the sun above you, “I know you have a mission soon, so I made seconds I could bring you before you head over there.” You found yourself looking down at the food through your lashes, your eyes felt strained as you thought about those memories from once before, you looked down at the food finding comfort in its appearance as it reminded you of earlier times.
You watched as the food that was once made with love, adoration, and compassion with the hopes your closed loved ones who had tried their best shield you from such a hardening world would help you find such feelings in the box that was neatly put together just for you to enjoy. That food would be replaced by the meals that were made to give you muscle, concentration, and focus. No love was held in such foods as their purpose was only to fuel your body into becoming a weapon for the jujutsu sorcerers.
This gesture carried the recognition that your happiness could be kindled by something as simple as meal. As you began to dig into your food, a wave of realization washed over you- Yu had been paying attention all along, observing the subtle shifts in your demeanor when you indulged in the simple pleasure of a good meal.
You couldn’t help but eat the food with so much of your heart bursting at the taste, you could feel the tears welling in your eyes with how the food had made you feel so comforted in your lowest moments, Yu’s want to cook for you left you feeling so happy with a warmness bubbling inside you.
Yu watched as you ate as it was an embodiment of his wish to nurture the side of you that had been overshadowed by skepticism of what this world could truly offer you. In their newfound revelation and their intention to cook for you, they found a mirror reflecting back the potential for change and growth.
The way you ate slowly to savor each bite and the way a tear rolled down your cheek was on that made Yu a bit confused as he hadn’t cooked for himself in a while and doubted his own skills, it was a realization that hit Yu like a ton of bricks, the look in your face that revealed this side of you that Yu wanted to protect forever.
“Thank you, Haibara.” You swooned, your tone unknowingly made Yu’s cheeks flush, “It’s no problem! To know my cooking made you happy is all I could ever want.” The way your face had grown hot after such made you smile even more as you continued to eat, Yu would join shortly after as he enjoyed eating with you, the admiration the two of you shared for one another in that moment held true for the rest of the time you two had.
In the months that followed, his cooking became a source of comfort and connection. With each shared meal, he nurtured not just your taste buds, but a sense of belonging that had eluded you for so long. Yu’s genuine yearn for your happiness that built up inside of him had soon blossomed into the desire to be with you more. These feelings you both harbored for one another went beyond the food itself; it was woven into the very fabric of your actions.
The way he crafted dishes that were tailored to your preferences with each bite infused with his love that only grew greater and greater the more the two of you had grown around each other. Haibara Yu's relentless determination to see you smile created a profound shift within you. It wasn't just about the food anymore; it was about the friendship that bloomed between the two of you. The young man’s presence became a safe haven, a space where you could shed the armor and embrace vulnerability without fear of judgment.
With every meal and time spent, the world was one you saw through Yu’s with the hope that the two of you could see the beauty in everything with each others presence by one another’s side, you recognize the world that had been obscured by your own skepticism.
As time passed, Yu's intentions became increasingly clear – he wasn't just here as someone who wanted to cook you food; he was there to see you at your happiest with a desire to be with you in a way that was closely intertwined the two of you. Yu cherished the memory of that first smile, the one that made him want to see that smile every day, and with time that smile prevailed even without food with just the sound of his voice and the knowing of his footsteps.
In the presence of Haibara Yu, you found not only a reason to smile but a reason to embrace life with renewed fervor. The ability to remember the significance of that initial smile was a testament to his attentiveness and his unspoken promise to continue cultivating happiness through his existence alone.
In the realm of improbable beginnings, a single shared meal served as the catalyst for a love that defied all logic that came to mind. You were willing to throw everything, you would cry out to those above you to change everything and find a way out of the life you were forced into and instead live a normal life with one you were sure deserved better than all the endings you both could be met with.
You knew that you couldn’t fight it, there was no reason to fight it anyways, to run away from being a Jujutsu Sorcerer was punishable by death thus you would happily take your life to live your happiest days with one who brought you the happiness and joy to finally be around them in a bliss of normalcy without any way of hurting getting towards the young man you wanted to make sure that you could do what you needed to guarantee yours and his safety.
It was an ordinary encounter, yet it cast a spell that bound you to him. You two met in the place you both always ate your lunches, you asked him to meet you there before he left for his mission, an anniversary of a friendship as it had been an official year since you two first shared your meal together.
“I don't think we should be here anymore.”
The love you held for Haibara Yu wasn't a fleeting infatuation, but a steadfast devotion that had held many trials and tribulations with your plans.  It wasn't solely based on the food, or the shared laughter, or the long stares; rather, it was a foundation built on mutual understanding of one another, the beauty of this world that you could not see before him, and intimate emotions that transcended words.
And yet, the humor lay in the very attributes that fortified our connection - these same emotions held the power to destabilize the missions as you watched Yu throw himself in front of you, to ruin all chances of a future once announced of your arranged marriage for the sake of your clan, and the fact you could not escape the feeling of all being taken from you in that moment.
“Where should we go then?” Yu raised a brow, the feeling of confused excitement laced his words as you spoke, “Anywhere. Just us living normal lives, y’know?” The young man found himself still confused on what you were saying, “Even if it takes forever, I want you to just live a normal life one day.”
Your lives entwined in unexpected ways, drawn together by a shared purpose of giving your lives for society and an unspoken understanding that both of you couldn’t even began to comprehend about one another. With each passing mission, the two of you had grown closer, it wasn’t fueled by the shared victories or moments of vulnerability. It was the fact you wanted to do everything in your power to make sure you wouldn’t lose him.
“You could finally leave this inhospitable place and be happy in normalcy.” You told the boy, he said your name with a bit of embarrassment by such an inference, “It doesn’t have to be you sacrificing your life for everything when we can be normal for the rest of our lives.” Yu’s tone of confusion, less excitement as he was trying to grasp what you were trying to say, he muttered your name once more in dismay.
The realization that the emotions you two harbored would become a double-edged sword.
“Our duty is to protect those who cannot do what we do.” Yu explained to you, you found your eyes faltering a bit, you watched as Yu’s expression was aggrieved that deprived you of the look that was once bathed you in joy. “I know that you don’t want me to go on these missions, but I need you to understand there is nothing that will prevent that.”
You felt your heart crumble at such a sentence, “I will give my all to something I can actually do. I will not rest until my mission is complete.” Tears rolled down your cheeks, each one a testament to the unwavering affection that had leaked from the inability to keep such emotions under wraps. You spoke against your better judgment, “Forget the mission.” The young man’s voice got louder, feeling confusion and frustration as he found his voice, “I have a duty-” Your head snapped to look at him in the eyes, “Forget your duty!”
Yu looked at you in disbelief by your words, you found your cheeks wet by such an outburst with your chest heaving at such a mention of giving his all, the weight of your unspoken feelings grew heavier, causing your heart to ache in silence. The ache wasn't solely from your inability to confess; it was exacerbated by the knowledge that his heart was different from yours and is too aching with the same unuttered truths. You both stood at the precipice of a love that defied the circumstances that bound the two of you to the reality of your existence.
Fear held you both captive, chained to the knowledge that wanting what is best for one another. Yu wanted a life with you, and you shared in this hopeful future. Watching Yu from a distance with tears in your eyes whilst your heart ached with a silent agony. The sound of his voice slowly becoming a bittersweet symphony that echoed through your mind, a constant reminder of the love you couldn't profess.
‘What would even be the point?’
You could tell him you loved him just to keep him there, he would do anything to make sure you’re happy. In your heart you knew how terrible that would be to make him stop what he has his heart sent on for the selfishness to keep him here with you for even longer than it had to be.
In your mind, the fact that Yu didn’t want to leave this awful place with you already gave you the lenses to see the future that was never there in the first place. The pain of unexpressed feelings intensified, manifesting as a gnawing depression that cast a shadow over even the brightest moments. The intricacies of the relationship you two shared kept us close yet distant, fostering a maddening duality of connection and detachment.
You would envision yourself uttering the words you longed to say, with a hope of a result in watching his eyes light up with the realization that both hearts share the harmony.
The reality of it always brought you back, to keep him here with you and make sure he stayed with you longer even if it meant jeopardizing everything he ever wanted or to stay silent and let him live the life he wants to live with him sacrificing it all just to make sure those who can’t do such will be okay.
You remained a silent, caught in a perpetual loop of love and longing, loyalty and restraint. The boy who held your heart, unknowingly gripping it so hard it would pop, he continued to occupy your thoughts and dreams, a beacon of light amidst the darkness of the chosen path.
You cannot come back from this moment.
“I’m sorry for invalidating your views, Yu.”
You wipe the tears from your face and give him a large smile, he looked at you in disbelief for a moment before you gave him such a toothy smile, “It’s selfish for me to believe in such a thing as running away from our destiny.” You sighed, your throat rasped from your tears and the words that held a tight hold on your neck.
You accepted this.
“Fulfill your duty as a strong jujutsu sorcerer.” You told Yu, giving him a warm smile, the same returned to you that let you get enveloped in all the beauty the world had offer to you as you looked into his eyes. In Yu's eyes, he watched as you gave him a smile that made him feel whole. The young man wanted to embrace you, a tight hug to hide his face from the tears about to come out, yet he just smiled at you.
“Thank you, [F/N].”
You both bid farewell to one another you stayed there as he ran off to go prepare for his trip, you smiled before he turned back to look at you, too far to hear anything he pulled out his phone and began to text you.
You found your hands shaky, the feeling of fear palpable before you finally found the phone in your pocket, your eyes are strained against the brightness with no help of anything since the dark clouds shielded the sun from you that day. You looked confused at him, his arm shooting up to wave at you before you heard the noise of the message and ran in the opposite direction, you opened your phone to read the message.

You looked over at the mail left in your cubby, in a box outside your house that left you with the eagerness whenever you heard of the caws of the crow, you began to pump the blood you needed to bring yourself over to the door of your shared home with your husband, Rengoku Kyojuro. You were overjoyed everyday with all the letters sent to you throughout the marriage when the bright haired man was sent off for his job.
In the days following of his summoning to the Hashira position you both were wed, you found yourself very interested in the man you were to spend the rest of your days with as nothing truly combated the feelings you felt once you had gotten to know him. You heard his whispers in your ears at the ceremony, the ones that made you giggle endlessly while you tried to stop his behavior, he told you that the smile that graced his eyes was one that could leave Kyojuro in such admiration and hope for his world.
As Hashira he would be one who was sent to kill the demons that had taken the world to turn into their hunting grounds, the idea of it all was very overbearing as the mere idea of losing someone as loving and caring as Rengoku Kyojuro was one death that left your heart in immense fear. You told this Kyojuro, who looked at you with a hurt in his eyes yet, his smile stayed still as he looked into your eyes with the feeling of hurt and fear.
You felt his hand on your face, cupping it and bringing you close to him as he held you close to him, “I understand, my dear.” Kyojuro then brought his other hand to the other cheek, feeling the warmth on your face, God, even after being married to him there was still a feeling of butterflies whenever you were around the young man before you.
“I’ll write you letters, any second I get I will write as much as I can, and when they are sent off I want you to read them to know that I am okay…” Kyojuro looked into your eyes, the softness in them practically lulled your body into a comfortable tiredness that let your guard down, “Know that I will never want you to feel this fear and will combat it even in spirit.” The way Kyojuro said your name left you speechless, from the way it slipped with such ease that let him press his lips against yours to imprint that feeling of compassion and sentiment that he wanted for you to feel moment in the moments you read his letters.
The way your heart thumped violently against your chest as you looked over the newest letters sent to you, the letters that were sent out by his crow before heading back to him after delivering such words of endearment to you. You found yourself almost tripping over your feet as continued to run towards the door.
You were deeply in love with your husband, this feeling that transcends words and surpasses all insecurities that try to cloud your vision were disintegrated when you found the man you had fallen head over heels for. It's a connection that touches the depths of your soul and fills your heart with the feeling that no one could truly ever replace, the idea of being apart made you wonder about the state of your relationship.
Multiple times you had found yourself longing for Rengoku to stay with you, finding yourself very much cling onto him whenever he had returned to the shared home to envelope you in the smile that warmed your heart like a warm summer day with the cool winds that kept you in this calm and comforting environment. The mere thought of reading your husband's writing brings forth an overwhelming surge of emotions that make your heart practically explode.
The letters that were drowned in the love and affecting that your husband would pour into the pages had left you with so much admiration that you already had for Kyojuro, where every word he writes carries a weight of significance and meaning that bathes you in the beauty of your relationship. You unwrapped one letter, the familiar stamp that left you with the softest eyes and the beat of your heart to skip two as you found your breath hitch.
“My beloved, I look forward to your gaze when I enter through the screen doors of our home. Every day is continuing to draw me more and more hopeful for the future with you, I long for your touch and the warmth that not even I could muster with my breathing. It makes me feel alive.  Every moment with you is a blessing I never take for granted, even with years on us, there is nothing truly more wanted in this life than to be by your side for even just a minute. To the sound you grace me with, the features that wipe everything I could ever thought as attractive only belonging to you, and even the feeling of your hand on mine as we admire the birds in the garden. You make me feel as if my soul is finally at peace. You understand? I must finish, I will be summoned for a new task. Know that these letters will never come to an end unless my life is handed to me. Nonetheless, even in death, I will write I love you in the blood of my own to signify my loyalty to you.”
When you read your husband's writing, it's as if you are being drenched in the very essence of his pure and undying thoughts and emotions for the one, he had married. Each word becomes a window into the inner world of Rengoku Kyojuro, offering glimpses of his hopes, dreams, and vulnerabilities. The love you share creates an intense desire to understand the man you had fallen so in love with on such a molecular level, and his writing that grants insight into what strengthens the bond between you.
The anticipation of reading his words ignites the same flame that resembled his hair, staring at it for hours as you looked into those eyes that drew you closer and closer to his face…To feel his lips on yours was nothing more than mere dreams, this yearning of him becoming endless within you, a passionate desire to connect with his mind and soul in order to intertwine the two of you into one being that no love could ever be created even after the mark the both of you left.
The beauty of reading your husband's writing lies not only in the content itself but in the realization that it is an extension of him. Every phrase, every sentence carries his unique voice and perspective, allowing you to witness his creativity and intellect firsthand. The emotions that surge through you as you read his words are a testament to the profound impact he has on your life. It's a love that goes beyond the physical realm, transcending the everyday to create a sense of unity and harmony between your souls.
You looked over the letters Kyojuro sent, some that plead to be in your arms once more, the desire to sleep in the same bed as you to quell your mind of the nightmares you had faced while he was gone, and the way he had just truly wanted to sit next to you for long hours just admiring your existence.
"While, yes, I know you like the back of my hand–Nothing beats the perfection of human radiance quite like the feeling I get when I feel your presence around me.”
In those moments when you immerse yourself in your husband's writing, time seems to pass quickly as you let yourself listen to the letter in your husband’s voice that continued to warm your cheeks at from the beauty of wording. The world around you fades into the background as you delve into the pages, fully engrossed in his thoughts and ideas.
The depth of your lover only allows you to fall deeper into this infatuation with his writing, cooing at the words as you appreciate his talent and appreciate the profound connection you share. Each word becomes a brushstroke on the canvas of your relationship, creating a masterpiece of love and understanding. As you read your husband's writing, you feel an overwhelming sense of pride and admiration.
You are first to witness the beauty of his growth in expression, his passions that he fleshes into all the things that he’s longed for, and the way he had viewed his life to this point that left you in pure admiration. You longed for what Kyojuro had offered to you, the loving feeling after all that has happened as you found yourself lost in the past of everything that you could never escape.
The demons had taken everything from you, your family snatched away from you at such a young age that the memory of them seems so fleeting in the outside look yet so overwhelming when reality comes to wrap their comforting arms around you like a lure into the darkness that you suffered from.
Kyojuro goes over such in the next letter, he mentioned his mission and told you of the demons that he made sure would never hurt you ever again. The demon, of course you remembered, watching them with fear whilst they held a glare. They scoffed at you, the blue lines on their face that curved through each of their eyes from below their ears to over their temples, the only feeling you could truly muster up had only been anguish as they left you there in your home for distant relatives to find you.
Those lines haunted you, the eyes that were laced in nothing but a pure disdain for your existence that let the feeling of self-hatred to bubble in you while they found the joy in making a child feel so angered by their own existence to be one that brought a smile to their face. These traumas, however, never burdened Rengoku Kyojuro.
In the letter he was reminiscent of how you stayed up after the encounter with the demon, staring from the porch of your shared home just looking into the dark of night with the only light being the dimmed moon, there was nothing that stopped Kyojuro from staying up with you every night until you were finally allowing yourself to fall asleep in his presence. Your relatives often sedated you, drugging your tea before sending you off, and while the tea method was one suggested to the Rengoku man he was quick to reject such.
You would stay up for such long hours, Kyojuro there by your side to help try and lull you to sleep as the two of you stared up at the moon together, his fingers slowly inching to intertwine with yours in hopes of bringing a smile to you face. There was more than just a smile, the feeling of his physical touch did more to help you than that tea has ever done for those past 5+ years.
The love you feel for Kyojuro only amplifies your appreciation for his talents and gifts. It's a feeling that leaves you in awe, reminding you of the incredible person he is and the privilege it is to be by his side, sharing in his journey. The feeling of being so in love with your husband that even the mere sound of paper had left you thinking back on those words he had sent you before, reading and re-reading his writing that second his presence in the ranks of your love.
You found your last letter, one that was of the same white color yet, it was one that addressed to you but was from a sender you had become familiar with in the upcoming days leading up to the trip of Kyojuro. You found yourself separating the letter from the others, putting the one sent to you from the Demon Slayer Corps in front of you as you unsealed it with ease. You looked at the beginnings of it, a feeling of immense confliction of opening the letter.
“To the family of Rengoku, We sent this letter as a notification of the status of Rengoku Kyojuro. Unfortunately, Rengoku has succumbed to an Upper Rank Three demon, after battle. All of us at the Demon Slayer Corps mourn with you as one the one who has brought us all with a sense of ambition, positivity, and relentless tribute to the Corps as one who continues to give us inspiration as we fight for the future without Demons. In the letter, we find one item on Rengoku’s person that we believed you should have. In our thoughts and prayers, Demon Slayer Corps.”
You let yourself find the will to reach for the photo inside the envelope, your face fallen as you find yourself staring down at the image before you, leaving it on the table for you to stare at as your hands reach to grip and scratched at your thighs in attempts to cause pain to your body. You looked down at the image in anguish, you let yourself try to find the feelings that you bottled within you.
Honestly, what feelings did you truly have at this moment when you looked down at that image? You could cry, and what would it solve? You let the cynicism that drained your color of your childhood began to drag you into their arms once more, almost like they were waiting for you all this time. You could be angry? Throw the table over, join the Demon Slayer Corps, and avenge your husband…
Why bother?
You let yourself establish the feelings you had for the image, you and Kyojuro on your wedding day with him holding you tight in his arms with the look that could bring joy in a thunderstorm. That smile that you would never see up close again. You admired his eyes, the colors similar to the ones that brought you more and more joy as they began to brighten with enthusiasm and great compassion.
Where would you find such again?
You felt the waves of such feelings. You coddled the young Senjuro and every time when he had come over after being told about the incident. It continued to burden you as you looked into the boy’s eyes with the same drained of feeling you were dealt with the day you were reborn. Of course, you hugged the young boy, the way he rushed into your arms only brought him the comfort that he so rightfully deserved.
Losing the one you loved continued to eat you alive as you let this feeling continue to feed on you like a parasite with no fight for your body and reclaim it as your own, this hopelessness and miserable feeling that continued to swallow you only let you leave your bedroom to feed on the food you had stocked up on. Those days, the people in the village looked at you in despair as they noticed the appearance that reeked of grief and a never-ending feeling for something to bring you to the end of such a miserable life.
Rengoku Kyojuro was the only one who you loved, words that came from such a phrasing could never amount to how you felt for the young man at this moment, the spouse who had brought you immense joy. It was such a devastating experience that left you unfeeling to the world around you. You longed for something at nights, the bags under your eyes are heavy as well as the look of decay on your face that was commented on when Tanjiro came to visit you.
It was an act of kindness, one that some of the Demon Slayer Corps had held off in fear of the sight of your now painful existence that hurt the young demon slayer as he winced in horror at the view he was met with when you couldn’t even open the door for him. Tanjiro had never seen you, although Kyojuro called out for you in battle and talked of you often to the ones who accompanied him as he wanted to bring up the people who pushed him to do what he did.
You were brighter in the way Kyojuro described you, the looks that left him still bashful to be around you and caused his face to flush in seconds when you said his first name, "The song of angels…One I could never let myself tune out even in my busiest of days.” You cooed in response to such a compliment, the small smile begging to flourish on the lips that cracked from uncaring that could reveal the teeth that were damaged from lack of care.
Tanjiro told you how thankful he was to have had Kyojuro there, the impact he left and the way he will help the boy even in his darkest moments, you applauded him as you felt the same way he did. You liked him, it was as touching as when Senjuro came over to visit you and tell you stories that Kyojuro was too scared to tell you in hoped of fleeing from embarrassment as even your approval was one, he held in high regard.
When your husband, who was the soul source of your ambition, was now taken away by the same creatures that left you in disarray and depression.  You would still be trying to kick and scream out of that hole of hopeless that let the feelings of lost continuing to pursue your psyche. You explained this to Tanjiro, trying your hardest to say anything to the young boy that wasn’t a hum or nod in response to what he said.
“Rengoku Kyojuro is irreplaceable in my heart, no one could ever ruin the mold or try to shove themselves into the young man who has taken me to the new sights of my future that were brighter than the sun.” You found this smile on your face, it was weak as the rare times you were left to remember Kyojuro in his brightest light had only left you falling into deep despair that seems to have no end.
You found your smile slowly falling, looking out the window with the smallest glimpse of hope to sprinkle into your eyes in result of the rustling of the foliage that would reveal your husband, you sighed to yourself before letting your eyes wander over to the brunette boy in front of you. “Knowing that the future of mine is now fleeting…” You tried to find the words for what you felt, your eyebrows furrowing in confliction with the words banging against your lips.
“I am not long for this world.” You stated, Tanjiro felt his face fall with a look of feeling hurt and disappointment, “What would Rengoku think of your hopelessness?” You found your heart was falling into the void left by the absence of your husband that is magnified by the haunting presence of the demon that took him away. The pain and sorrow you feel are intensified by the constant reminders of what you endured from that letter that still sat in the room where you used to read all of Kyojuro’s letters.
“I believe he would find you wanting to do your best in the event his death had happened,” You sighed, it was true, constantly mentioned by the hashira as it was his sworn duty to protect those who were unable to fight for themselves and to use the power he had for the selflessness he held close to his heart. You found yourself looking into the boy’s eyes, acknowledging him as one who carried a familiar aura to the man you loved.
“Rengoku wants your life to be one that lives on with the memory of him being one that sparks inspiration in him–” Tanjiro felt tears began to flood his eyes, he looked into yours with hurt and anger at the suggestion of you life even being close to over, “There is nothing that you can’t do! Rengoku believed you were one who could do everything even with just his writings!” You let yourself think back on those words, the ones that you read each night you two were apart that had held you liked a newly born child.
You being one to exist in this world, while Kyojuro existed alongside you for as long as he did, it was a blessing from those above in his eyes. You were one who he believed the world of, those letters that sung your praises as he worshiped the ground you walked and the touch that he was graced to be enveloped in when you were so detached from the world.
Tanjiro looked you in the eyes, the eyes that reeked of determination and hope that you had so longed to have when you found yourself staring the mirror to count your insecurities, you looked back with a feeling of melancholy you now found at this moment before letting yourself speak to the boy.
You smiled at him weakly, while the trauma in you becomes an unwelcome companion, replaying in your mind, and adding layers of complexity to your grief. It feels as though you are unlatched from the deep depression that left you as a lifeless doll, unable to escape the overwhelming darkness that engulfs you. Yet, there you looked into that boys eyes, with tears rolling down your cheeks.
The boy was quick to ask you if you were okay, you nodded eagerly in response as you let the tears fall into your clothes and began to soak the top part of your clothes, you couldn’t help but feel the tears that were rushing out your eyes finally release all the feeling you had felt before. You almost broke down in front of the boy, these days left you drained of any emotions and yet, you found yourself so overwhelmed at the mere mention of Kyojuro was on that held a vice on the pools of emotions that flooded you.
“In the depths of your despair, it may seem impossible to find any glimmer of hope or light.” Tanjiro stated, you listened closely as you found the tears in comfort of your face, similar to hands of Kyojuro. “However, I advise you to look forward to what the future holds for you…” In those words, they cradled you with the sound of Kyojuro’s voice, those words spoken to you that were laid onto Tanjiro.
“Go ahead and live with your head held high! No matter how devastated you may be by your own weakness or uselessness… set your heart ablaze. Grit your teeth and look straight ahead.”
The loss of your husband and the lingering trauma had made you question your own sense of purpose and meaning. The heaviness of grief had consumed every conscious thought you had, making it challenging to see a future without him. “Those were his last words to me.” You hummed listlessly, “Of course.” Swooning at your husband's ohrasing that shared the similarity to those of compliments and praise he fed to you lovingly.
“Remember, even in the darkest moments, there is always the possibility of finding strength and passion in the love and memories you shared with pass loved ones.”
You and Tanjiro shared a knowing look with one another when he was about to leave, you gave the young man a tight hug that left you feeling even more emotional than you were before. You let go of the young man, a smile on your face lit up the world around and in aways brought Tranjiro with joy as he looked at you. “Rengoku was right.” Tanjiro closed his eyes, encasing the moment in his mind with a smile, “Your smile can give hope for the world.”
"Your face is imprinted in my mind when I am struck with harsh blows. The act of staring at you makes me feel as if I’m being touched by the one above with such a nurturing hand. Your eyes, filled with kindness, gentleness, as if a ray of sunshine was reflected in them. Your smile, gentle and graceful, like a warm spring breeze. Your voice, calm and soothing, making me feel safe and comfortable. Your touch, loving and delicate, like a rose blooming. This love pumps my blood, and I yearn to give all the love and care you deserve. I love you."
You smiled at the boy, thanking him for his presence before watching him walk away. You made your way back inside of your home once Tanjiro was a safe distance awayn from your home. You let yourself run to where your letters were stored, you read them over and over with never ending joy that continue to push the type of feeling that left you with the emotions that were called for the situation. Even late into the night, you looked at the letters from the porch you and Kyojuro would sit at when your nightmares were frequent.

The words were poured into your ears by the man you thought of in admiration, longingly you look into the night sky in hopes that Kyojuro is looking back at you with a softness in his eyes that reeled you into his embrace, you tilt your head in admiration just looking up into the stars above. In a way, you feel your head on Kyojuro’s shoulder once more, the feel of comfort coming to vanquish the deep depression you were dealt with.

❝ 𝐈𝐍 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐒 𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍 ❞
𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐬) ⋮ Hange Zoë x GN! Reader 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 ⋮ 726 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 ⋮ In your final moments you’re lost in the beauty that was your partner. 𝐓𝐚𝐠𝐬 ⋮ SPOILERS FOR AO2 | Second-Person POV | Genderfluid They/Them Hange (obvi) | Fluff with a sad ending | Character Death | Not Checked because I’m silly 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 ⋮ i NEEDED to write about HANGE or I was going to physically collapse
Tumblr media
You were launched into a battle with no chance of survival, the odds stacked against you all there was only one hope that had always illuminated through the darkest of days. Hange Zoe, grace and effortless confidence that left you in a puddles in their mere presence. As you looked back on your comrades that you had been around for what felt like eons there was someone who pulled you into the future that awaited you.
In that path stood someone so magnificent that you couldn’t ever fathom the idea of them even noticing you, in their graceful ways of speaking to the intellect that sparked your curiosity in them, you were always lost in the beauty before you that had taken you by storm. A call of your name is what made you turn your head, that tone of voice and that same smile that had indented the lines on their cheeks had made your heart wince at the future of never being able to grow older with them.
Maybe in another reality.
In this one, however, you knew had no way of providing real happy and justified ending in the eyes of many, yet this ending was one you had hoped for the least in those moments you’ve spent with the one and only love of your life. Once you both finished your goodbyes you both rushed into battle, obviously, Hange was still lost in admiration in sight of the Titans, you had to call them and get their attention.
“It’s like you love them more than me, Hange!”
The laugh that left them was boisterous, one you heard more than a million of times in your dreams that lovingly tugged on your lips and cupped your cheeks with a warmth to make your heart flutter. “Who knows! Maybe I do!” You playfully roll your eyes at such behavior. “So you would rather live on with them?”
There was something Hange had that no one else could ever fathom, they thought you were insane for such a gaze to have made you feel enveloped into the warmest hug, the way their eyes landed on you and the softness in their voice that cradled you as if you were fresh out of the womb.
“There is no living without you, my dear.”
You two were quickly launching yourselves into battle, using your thunder spears to take down many of the titans and moving with the an urgency to make sure your comrades had enough tim to fully escape from such a site. In that fight your intentions never faltered, neither did Hange’s, as you two threw yourselves into battle even releasing your blades to gather more time for them.
There was something that awaited you in this mission, as you sliced through one of the Titan’s you found the heat becoming one that struck your harshly with the flames lapping at your back like a whip. You wince, you feel this urge to fall from the pain but, as you watch your lover zip through the sky with the grace of a swan your heart pounds violently as you quickly pull yourself together and head over to another Titan.
Exhaustion becomes never ending, you find yourself lost in a joyful look on Hange’s face as you watch the flying boat began to prepare for lift off. Your heart finds itself tight, the tears prickle your face from the pain of the fire on your clothes and the grief stricken feeling deep down that tolls a bell.
You find yourself a bit lost in it all, delirium before something is slammed into you, tight arms wrapping around you with the smell of burning flesh alongside it that you instinctively latch onto. The charred corpse of your lover in your arm is one that eats you alive, yet, there is something calm and peaceful about what awaits you after this.
In all the late night laughs and kisses, there is something you whisper in Hange’s ear that you hope they hear before the two of you depart as one. You feel your skin bubble, your body begins to try and fight back against the pain, you find yourself pulling your chin to the left side of Hange’s head with the flame now consuming you alongside her.
There is only one phrase you utter,
“I love you, Hange."

Hint! : What you'll wanna take note of ↴
Tell me how you want it formatted such as a scenario or a imagine or a fic. If you want a reader like you, please tell me! I'd love to write about specific ethnicities, genders, and sexualities. If you don't then it will be a gender-neutral and neutral race reader with no real characteristics.
Hint! : Give as many details as you can! ↴
If you want specific characters, then be specific! I don't mind writing about multiple characters I just need to know who! If you don't want anyone specific, then ignore this!
