This is something I mixed while on the road in Russia only one year before the war. 

I am an American Jazz vocalist and songwriter who has performed all over Russia, a touring schedule which culminated in a 4 year run. 

It’s funny how this world simply changes. 

One moment there I was with some brilliant players a fantastic jazz drummer from Italy living in Finland, Bass player from Ukraine living in New York who’s mother whom I met and we stayed with them was a 90 year sweet as pie, make you want to learn to speak her language so you can talk to her old woman and the most rockingest pianist I’ve seen in years all in the middle of Moscow at an Air B&B. The Gregory Boyd Quartet is the name of the band. Playing my country’s indigenous music Jazz for hungry ears and hearts. Performing of all things Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles,  and selected Jazz songs and creating an amazing run as we touring artists love to call it. 

We played some brilliant shows about 75 in all I saw some brilliant sites and we endured some hard touring to the tune of 10-24 hours train journeys to 6-12 hour Airplane journeys. I went from St. Petersburg to Vladivostoc and back about 4 times. And took the Siberian Express Route via train. Truly bucket list stuff indeed. I do believe all of that was for some larger purpose because with every show I always told the audience how as a child my wish was to visit Russia and talk to the people and make friends. Currently am working out a new touring schedule in Europe and increasing my lecture circuit visibility.

Our family said goodbye to a beautiful friend yesterday. 🌈 Our darling Dharma came to my parents just days before the pandemic shut everything. Her arrival was a bit of a last-minute miracle kind of thing; she needed a home, my parents’ mischievous pupper Max needed a friend, and it seemed that within mere minutes of first meeting, everyone had bonded tight. What unbelievable luck. I met her beautiful face over Zoom, and it was more than 8 months later that we all finally got to hug her, and we all bonded tight again. I just loved her right away, so much. She would lean so hard into you that she’d damn near push you over, she sat patiently for long hugs and grooming sessions, and had us in stitches every day with her performative, operatic playtimes with Max and a slew of stuffies (all well-chewed, all somehow called Llama.) She and Max became such good friends, like each other’s Missing Piece. As heartbroken as I am that I won’t see her again, I can’t imagine his or my parents’ loss right now.
