He wasn't going down - not like this. Not with Mitsuki on the other side of this-- this war. Right. Their Wish, the Holy Grail, their chance to, to give themselves and everyone else the peace the War had ripped away. She needed him. Hideki forced himself to hands and knees.

"Hey, you're looking for your friend too, aren't you?" A soft voice spoke. Hideki lifted his head as far as he could, looking for the speaker - and saw a being step into reality in a way that made his head ache, as though the floor itself had formed bare feet and white leggings in mid-step. "Through all the pain, looking death in the eye - I admire that."

Pain bloomed in his hand, racing up his arm to his heart like fire - but with it came clarity, the static slowly clearing from the edges of his vision, eyes starting to focus again. A curtain of green hair swung into his vision as he forced himself further upright, gritting his teeth against the agony eating at him. A white robe, hanging loose and open, a pendant that swung at ankle-height, he should- he should know this -

"I, too, would face any pain to find my Star. Gather your will and stand again!" Though the voice was gentle in its command, Hideki inexorably forced himself to his feet. It was then that the mirror-like eyes - so pale they could catch and mimic any color around them - registered.

"Enkidu." The pain intensified with the clarity. His mana was being drained, drawing him back to reality. His shoulder straightened subconsciously as he pushed more into the growing bond.

"I ask of thee," The words were slow and heavy with formality. "Art thou my Master?" Their smile was warm and welcoming, and just a little mischievous.

"I am," Hideki didn't hesitate. There was no room for doubt or second guessing. Water was wet, the sky was blue, Mitsuki was his twin, and Enkidu was his Servant.

[UNAUTHORIZED.] A voice rang out from above and around them. [Servant Enkidu exceeds tournament demands.]

"Too fuckin' bad!" Hideki growled. "Your face is unauthorized!" Elation warred with outrage, leaving him with nothing but audacity to draw from. A moment of silence stretched out before Enkidu's delighted laughter broke it.

[Master Candidate 128's defiance of the rules noted. Adjusting Master's parameters. Adjusting difficulty scaling.] The ringing voice replied sourly. It felt like a band around his chest snapped, the mana drain abruptly intensifying. [Parameters adjusted. Scaling adjusted. Candidate 128 accepted.]

"Rude--!" Hideki gasped out as the drain made him sway on his feet again. The effigy before the newly formed Master-Servant pair cracked apart like an egg, a far sturdier monster emerging from it. "Oh, fuck you!"

Enkidu merely laughed harder, stepping in front of Hideki and raising their hands into an easy, prepared stance. "I am your sword, Master - command and use me as brutally as you wish."

Hideki flushed to the ears from the declaration, spluttering for a moment before focusing on surviving this mess!

I can’t believe he so totally inherited his mama Ravage’s cat eyes 😌 the half blindness was just because I could honestly (purely experimental I doubt this is the face I’d keep for him exactly); but if you were to squint you could say that his intense hearing/telepathy from the intense and constant inputs caused migraines (or from the stress of all the inputs) that caused it to go blind (yes migraines can do that), Or simply he had damaged his optic way long ago and having been on the streets And near insanity it simply was left untreated 😌

But I have heard that bats when they use their vision (at least for shorter distances) instead of echolocation they do actually tend to crash more frequently cuz the visual inputs mess up their audial information… figured it could be the same for Soundwave, where being half blind actually makes him feel more comfortable since he hears so intensely

Also I wasn’t sure how a cybertronian’s eye would get cloudy so. I did one way here the pupil would just fade severely/just about offline completely, and another referencing actual animal blind cat eyes

The 1st time I watched all of tos Turnabout Intruder was my favorite episode. Despite the pretty intense sexism and crazy shatner acting, I just find the idea really compelling.

Danny commits to the Bit a bit too hard...

So! For the first few weeks after his accident, whenever Danny would try to help the people of Amity Park, he would be treated as a Villain.

No matter if he had just defeated the Big Bad of the Week or saved a Cat from a tree, everybody in town only saw him as a Monster or Villain to he feared and hunted down. Danny was really getting sick of trying to get them on his side, until Sam made a suggestion.

"Why not just...play into it?" She said, barely looking up from painting her nails.

It was just an offhand suggestion, but it stuck with Danny. Why shouldn't he lean into it? The people of Amity Park already saw Ghosts as Evil, and they already assumed he was in cahoots with the Ghosts attacking the town. Why shouldn't he just...play into it?

So he does just that.

From that day on, whenever Phantom was spotted he would dramatically monologue about his Evil Plans, or claim that another Rogues attack on the City was his own act of terror.

Box Ghost destroys the towns Warehouses? It was on his orders.

Ember mind controls masses of Teenagers? All part of his Plans somehow.

Every Adult in Town is kidnapped by Young Blood? Danny gave them over to a friend as a Gift.

He crafts an identity for himself as the most Vile and Horrible Ghost that has ever attacked the City, using his own infamy to cement his legend even more firmly. The town only sees a Monsterous Villain, who has eveded capture near effortlessly for months on end, who constantly attacks their City and gets away with it.

Of course he still needs an excuse for how his plans keep getting stopped, and he gets it when his girlfriend Valerie becomes the Red Huntress. Before that, he just claimed infighting or the Fentons getting lucky, but Valerie becoming the Town's Hero meant he had a plausible excuse for how he kept getting "Foiled".

Val was suspicious, because she was not as involved as Phantom painted her to be, but in the end she had no proof of him faking his defeats. And she couldn't come up with any explanations for why he would do that in the first place. I mean, who would fake being a Supervillain? It had to he something else.

This did come back to bite him a while later, when the Justice League decided that enough was enough, and dispatched Justice League Dark to recruit Red Huntress and help Deal with him.

Coincidentally, that was the same day Pariah Dark attacked the Mortal Realm and sucked Amity Park into the Ghost Zone.

And honestly? Danny had spent over a Year proclaiming himself as a Villain who commanded Ghosts to attack the Human Realm, and he had heard about the Right of Conquest being Absolute in the Ghost Zone, so why not make it official? Why not overthrow the Ghost King, become the Ghost King, and cement his identity as a Villain while also forbidding Ghosts from entering the Human Realm without his permission?

He may have gotten a bit carried away and forgotten that the Villain thing was a disguise...but hey! He was still preventing Ghost Attacks! ...mostly. That's got to count for something right?
