hello, I just followed for your orctober stuff and scrolled through some of your blog and wanted to ask, what is guild wars 2?

OOOH BOY HERE I GO! ahem.

Guild Wars 2 is a high fantasy MMO, similar to maybe Final Fantasy Online. Guid Wars as a series is about as old as World of Warcraft, but has a much smaller fanbase; mostly because the company behind it, ArenaNet, seems to be allergic to advertisements (it's gotten better since the last two expansions).

These days, the core game is free, with only the expansions costing money. Well, some expansions, as they just throw in older expacs for free now. Even if you start with a free account, you can technically buy an upgrade by just... using ingame currency, which is a WILD concept to me.

Most notable features of the game are probably the character customization, free dyeing of armor, and a few thousand unique armor and weapon skins. Players often joke that the true endgame of GW2 is fashion (and they are RIGHT goddamnit). All five playable races are so ridiculously detailed in lore and design, it's incredible. Sylvari for example are not plain elves, they are full on plant constructs that grow from fruits on the mother tree. Asura are not just gnomes/goblins, they are a highly educated society of geniuses that would openly strive for world domination if it werent for their inherent bureaucratic tendencies.

The mounts in GW2 are among the best you will find anywhere, so much that World of Warcraft just copied some for their Dragonflight expansion.

Guild Wars 2 has a medium sized active player base, smaller than WoW or FFXIV, but they are an amazing community. We have veteran players, including me, who routinely patrol the starter maps to offer advice and maybe some healing to newbies (supported by the ingame mentor system). You might receive random mail from players gifting some cake. There's festivals, community parties, role playing, fashion contests, races and minigames.

If you are a seasoned MMO player, GW2 offers raids and the smaller strike system, which is being constantly expanded. Extreme MMO experts might find the game a bit flat, but that's only superficial. For beginners, I'd say the story is beatifully written. You can explore the open world, meeting players along the way (every map holds around 50-80 player at a time). You can choose any class and complete any content, including endgame. Any class, any race, (almost) any playstyle is viable, and nothing about your build is permanent, you can adjust your whole build on the fly.

Aside from the obvious MMO parts, GW2 also has structured PvP (5 vs 5 players) and the so called World vs World, which is a large scale week-long epic battle of three teams of around 50 players on each side (which btw is not as draining on the CPU as you'd think)

If you plan on giving it a try, I'd be more than happy to give you a more detailed overview of the game. This little chaotic hellhole of an MMO is very dear to my heart <3

Overlord fanfic idea: tales and folklore about the origin of Nazarick by the inhabitants of the new world, each trying to explain the origin of the various denizens of nazarick.

Shalltear would be a vampire from a far off country, once dying human princess turned undead by Lord Ainz, now eternally graceful to him.

Cocytus would be from the northern regions of the Azerlisia Mountains, being subjugated by Ainz after he bested the frost vermin in battle.

Aura and Mare would undoubtedly be from the Elven Kingdom, children of the Elf King who turned against their tyrannical father and allied with Ainz.

Demiurge and Albedo would be a demons summoned by Ainz for their strength and intellect...

Ninjago knows how to write really good likable villains and how to write good dislikable villains

Take the serpentine for example: they’re so funny and Scales was very redeeming in later seasons and Pythor was an amazing villain but also incredibly funny and enjoyable to watch

on the other hand we have my most hated villain nadakan: he just is a creep for wanting to marry nya and is insanely power hungry

and we also have kalmar from seabound who I absolutely despise

but most of the villains I really like bc they’re either funny or have redeemable qualities

like captain soto with his peg leg and “pajama men” and Ronan just bc he’s a good character and enjoyable to watch interact with everyone else

the overlord was not my favorite villain but also not my least favorite he was just meh like he was there for a good plot and a good villain fight but his first few appearances weren’t my favorite when he came back in crystallized was my personal fav appearance of him

also chen I just hate that man he’s so fucking annoying

once again harumi is an amazing villain and a much darker character which I enjoy bc it adds some flavor to the show that older kids enjoy when younger kids don’t see the underlying theme

personally undead garmadon is my fav version of him just because there’s this certain ruthlessness to him that is just much more enjoyable to watch and it also puts a strain on Lloyd which makes his character arcs much more important

the oni aren’t too big of a plot point but they aren’t my favorite villains either they just didn’t add anything to the story

time twins are in the middle too they were enjoyable to watch interact with each other and the ninja but I just didn’t really like the season all that much it was a great season for Kai and nya since their parents and all but other than that it wasn’t my fav

king whatever his name is the one from the season with cole’s mom wasn’t my fav either he was just super annoying I wanted to punch him in the face

esphira was an okay villain definitely not my favorite either she was also pretty annoying with her whole revenge thing

Summary: Ainz has once again come into contact with the Total Maniac item, throwing his emotions into a state of chaos. Thankfully you are here to help him through his poorly hidden panic, and you both realize your feelings for each other. But... was that world item in his stomach always supposed to be that sensitive?

Panic surged through the Overlord as he, once again, fucked up with using the Total Maniac item. He thought after last time he had gotten rid of all the chaos inducing items, but alas, one remained, and of course he'd activated it unknowingly.

"Whoa," came from his side, as he looked over at you, pure panic on his face. "That felt weird."

Well, you couldn't really know how he felt at this moment. After all, he had gotten used to not feeling emotions and this item somehow made him feel everything at once, overwhelming his senses almost instantly. He knew it would cancel racial restrictions on you as well, but you didn't seem quite affected.

"Are you- do you feel all right?" the Lich stuttered, cursing himself for not being able to get even one sentence out normally in his current state.

"Hm, yeah," you said, shaking your body of some slight tingles, though nothing else really seemed to have happened to you. You felt fine, a little elated maybe. Ainz however seemed a mess, and you frowned at the man. "How about you? Do you feel all right?"

No, no he did not. Everything was so much, and he needed to get somewhere quiet fast.

He tried to get the words out, but you understood without him having to explain.

"Don't worry, we'll get you to your room so you can wait out the effects. Don't worry, I won't tell the rest. We'll keep this between us."

In a flash the both of you had teleported to his room, and you quickly helped him to the large king-size bed in the middle.

"Now, how about you sleep it off?" you said, trying to be helpful, but you suddenly remembered he was an undead; he didn't sleep. "Orrr... we can just talk for a bit until you feel better?"

Ainz was honestly so happy to have a friend like you. Last time this happened he had felt so overwhelmed and alone, and despite everything working out in the end he was glad this time he had you with him.

"Thank you, Y/N." he murmured, grabbing your hand as he sat down on the bed. You squeezed his fingers in yours as you sat down next to him, and he seemed to sigh. Happy at the feeling of you small hand in his'. You were so warm and your presence grounded him, though his emotions still seemed to go haywire.

When you started rubbing your thumb over his hand he flinched, and you quickly withdrew your hand, apologising quickly.

"No, don't apologise. I'm simply not used to... this reaction to touch I suppose. It felt good actually." the last bit was mumbled, but you still heard it and smiled at him.

"Should I continue?" you said, grin turning a bit more cheeky, and if he could frown he would.

"If you wish."

"Oh no, I'm only gonna be touching you with your explicit permission Lord Ainz," you teased him, trying to distract him a bit from his thoughts. You knew how much he had the tendency to be inside his own head, and you could imagine the item only worsening this. Your words however, had quite an influence on him in his current state.

"I, ah... You... You have my permission," he replied, looking away like a bashful schoolgirl, and you chuckled at his antics.

"Thank you." you said for good measure, as you grabbed his hand again and squeezed, noting the way he let out a tiny squeak. "So, how long do the effects of this item last?"

"About..." he started, but the both of you were interrupted by a knocking on the door. You noted how Ainz almost jumped up half a meter at the sound, fixed his robes with shaky hands, cleared his throat and said in his seemingly unaffected booming voice: "Enter."

Poor guy, his nerves seemed absolutely frayed. There was no way this was just because of the item, he was probably on edge all the time, being the great Lord Ainz and all. You barely paid attention to the maid that just came to tell something, completely focused on Ainz, your friend and fellow gamer, stuck in this world together. There had to be something you could do for him to ease his nerves, and maybe to show him how much you cared.

The moment the maid was gone you moved yourself to sit on his lap, and Ainz 'wah'-ed at you, once again caught off guard.

"Ainz... no, Satoru," you called him by his true name. "You know that you can always come to me for support and stuff right?"

The panicked red glowing eyes in his skull seemingly softened at your words, hand coming up to cup your face. "Y/N... You really are a good friend."

"I'm hoping to be a little more than that," you said, giving him a little wink, and he stuttered.

"Ah, you know I'm just a Lich in this world. I'm sure there's others that would be better suited-"

"Satoru."

He stopped talking, and you closed the distance to give him a peck on his teeth. A little gasp came from him and you felt his hand tighten on your chin a bit.

"I don't want anyone else. I want you."

His mouth fell open comically, eyes dimming in their sockets. You giggled at the sight, getting more comfortable in his lap. He wasn't soft or warm, his bones digging into your flesh, but you didn't care. It was him, and that's all that counted right now.

"Are you sure-"

You kissed his teeth again.

"Yes. And you know what, I am planning on making this very clear to you."

His eyes brightened, mouth closing with a clack.

"Oh?" It sounded like a challenge, and it was one you took gladly. After all, now seemed to be the perfect opportunity with his emotional dampers offline so to speak. Your arms wrapped around his neck, kissing down his chin to his chest, pecking his clavicle and giving one an experimental lick. He didn't seem to respond much, his sense of touch still impeded.

"What are you doing?" he asked, feeling your warmth and a slight tickling feeling, but not much else.

"I licked you," you said, chuckling, "And now I'm gonna bite you." He instantly stiffened, letting out a small sound as you bit his other clavicle. You were pretty sure the only reason he was affected was because of his emotions at the feeling and not the feeling itself, but you took it as it was, enjoying the way he seemed to get riled up. You went down, licking a long stripe down his clavicle and his breathing seemed to pick up. Considering he didn't need to breathe, you took this as a compliment, and continued downward. It wasn't until you pawed at the world item nestled between his ribs that he actually let out a sound.

And what a sound it was; startled, long, lewd, loud. It actually surprised both of you. Both flinching away from each other. Him trying to get a grip, and you trying to make sense of what just happened.

"That's... That's not supposed to be sensitive," he spluttered, and you were sure if he could blush he would be red all over.

You were drooling though. The sound he had made had gone straight to your core, and you were throbbing. So ready for him to make more of those sounds, you brought your hand over to stroke the orb again, and he did a full body shudder, mouth falling open in a silent moan.

"Oh my," you muttered, cradling the orb in both hands now, and his head fell back as he groaned. "I like this very much."

"That's..." he was panting now, gasping in mouthfuls of air as if he had lungs. It had been so long since he actually felt something, and this felt divine. He needed you to continue this. "Please don't stop."

Oh you weren't planning to. With a firm hand on his ribs you pushed the overlord back onto the soft mattress, planting yourself firmly on his jutting hipbones. It was a little bit of a balancing act, but if you did it right you could rub yourself against him as you touched the world item all over. He cursed under his breath as you leaned over him, grinning up at him as you let your tongue loll out.

The orb was cool to the touch, and tasted like nothing as you licked a long, wet stripe over the length of it. Ainz made a sound resembling choking, and you looked up to see his burning red eyes fixed on you with such desperation you could come from just his gaze alone.

"Shit," you hissed, mouth on the item as you jerked your hips against his', unable to stop yourself from chasing your own pleasure as well. You getting him off like this was somehow so very sexy, and despite you wanting to make this all about him you were getting too horny to stop yourself.

Both your hands cradled the orb, mouth licking and kissing the surface, feeling it heat up under your ministrations. Ainz had one of his hands tangled in your hair, not pushing down, but still holding you tightly. You could feel his full body shivers as you pleasured him, and you wondered if he could even come like this.

Your hips rutted against his, and sure enough there was nothing down here. Maybe, somewhere in the future, you'd find out about some sort of magic or item you could use to help him with that, but for now his jutting bones would do for you, and his world item for him.

"Y/N, I... It's too much," he grated out, voice almost pleading as his hand pulled your hair and you let him guide you away a bit, giving him some space to catch his figurative breath. Meanwhile you were still slowly rubbing yourself against him, getting yourself closer and closer to your peak. Before you could reach it you stopped yourself though, groaning and shivering as you forced yourself to move away a bit.

"Can you keep going?" you asked the lich under you as you got a semblance of control back, and he nodded at you.

"Careful though." was all he said as you kissed his lower ribs for good measure before you went down to the orb again. Your teeth clinked against it and you were rewarded with a long groan from Ainz, and a slightly tightening fist in your hair. His back arching up at you, and hips jerking up into your groin again. You answered his groan with one of your own, as he now rutted his hips against yours while you tried to keep it together enough to get him off as well.

"Fuck, Ainz," you sobbed, drool over your chin and the orb, falling over the edge with a choke as you nuzzled the item. A low, growling groan came from him, as he too seemed to reach his peak. You both lay panting on the bed, you on top of him, trying not to touch the world item too much, since you realized it was probably overly sensitive right now.

You tried to sit up, your undergarments sticking to your wet crotch. Crap, had you really just let yourself go like that?

You looked at Ainz who had his eyes closed. His face couldn't relax since it was just a skull, but he somehow seemed so at peace. No stress radiated off of him anymore, just chill vibes and you smiled.

Well, it was all worth it in the end. And fuck if it hadn't felt good.

"I'm not sure if that was just because of Total Maniac or if this is the reaction I will always get when I touch that world item of yours, but if it was that item then I sure hope you have some stashed away in the treasury somewhere." you said as you chuckled, patting his chest affectionately. His eye glow returned, fixing them on you, as he too chuckled at you.

"I never thought something good would come from that accursed thing, Y/N, but you sure proved me wrong."

"Now... how long did you say the effects of Total Maniac were again?"

He jerked upwards at your words.

"I think that was quite enough for the first time, Y/N!" he said, voice panicked, but you just chuckled at him. "Y/ N, I don't like the look on your face! ...Y/N!"

"The rebels are gaining ground."

The scroll was small; brusque and to the point. In the last year alone, there had been dozens just like it, ill tidings scrawled across each one.

"The dissidents prevailed today."

"The rebellion has spread to the western end of Feyadel."

"The eleventh legion has fallen, sire."

Cerus tossed the small, curling piece of parchment into the fire, watched it smolder and redden and turn to ash. Defeat was closing in, like the sun setting over the course of the day, spreading slow shadow that would soon cloak the world in an all-consuming darkness.

The end was surely coming for him. It had started with his father's death. Sudden, a broken neck at the bottom of a staircase, leaving Cerus gripped more with fear than grief when he looked upon the corpse for the last time.

For what was he to do now?

He'd been the royal high mage, boosting his father's power with magical means. His father, who was supposed to live for many more years, who was supposed to grow old and hand over the throne gradually, giving Cerus time to learn and grow into the role. His father, who was now a body in the ground.

Most of King Hollowthorn's bannermen left before the grave was even filled in; the rest filed out one by one in the coming weeks. They knew the people of Feyadel were unhappy with the crown, only kept in line by the king's schemes and careful pressures. They knew Cerus had none of his father's experience, that he was weak. That the people would see his faults and find within them an opportunity. Cerus knew too, but now he was alone.

He'd gathered some meager support, elevating a handful of knights to generals and battalion leaders in preparation for the war that was sure to come.

 He'd been lenient in his early months as king, conceding to the demands of a few villages for lessened taxes and a lift on the poaching ban. He'd even raised the damned dead in an attempt to cow his subjects into submission. But it wasn't enough.

It never would've been enough.

The first large-scale revolt was in a small town a hundred miles away, on the eve of his coronation, and more acts of rebellion were swift to follow.

No matter how many dead were raised, the spirit of the people outmatched the unfeeling relentlessness of his ghouls.

For six years, he'd sat anxious on the throne, lost sleep over lost loyalty, watched as his hold on his birthright was broken bit by bit.

And with it, his hopes of emerging victorious.

Soon his treacherous subjects would reach the capital city, and then there would be nothing left.

So he'd fortify it. Pull back forces and protect his last true stronghold. If he expended all his energy, he could summon enough undead that it would take all the rebel forces had to oppose them. Even if he was outmatched, his ghoulish soldiers didn't need food, nor rest, nor tending to their wounds, unlike the rebel armies. He'd wait. Let them drain their supplies before launching a counterattack. He still had a chance.

And then when the battle was won, and he stood triumphant over the bodies and the curling smoke, he'd be king of the nothing.

He'd heard some were calling him Shadow King, and whether it was a description or an insult, he didn't know. But if he won, that was all he'd ever be. King of the shadows, of the ruin that would remain of Feyadel.

How had things turned so foul? Hadn't there ever been a time where he thought he could be something more? A better king than his father? A mage that could deal in something other than death and decay?

It mattered little now, if there was ever a chance at all. Could've beens would change nothing. Cerus had to hold on to what he had, what little power remained.

And if he couldn't, he'd die fighting those who dared try and take it from him.

I've seen a few people mention it, but I, too, don't consider Alastor a legitimate Overlord -- but I do believe he's considered to be on the same level as the other Overlords.

I'll try to explain through the game I've been playing for 16-17 years now: World of Warcraft (or WoW, as I'll call it from here on out).

In WoW, liches are incredibly powerful beings, acting as generals over undead armies due to their great intellect and raw spellcasting abilities. They can be made in different ways, but the most common method is by "elevating" a mortal necromancer, transforming them into an undead and put under the command of the Lich King to act as his servant, usually done willingly by the necromancer themselves.

They're also unique in the sense that their soul is not imperfectly attached to their body; instead, liches bind their souls to special containers known as phylacteries, which then allows them to generate a physical form. This is why liches look nothing like their former mortal selves, and also why one has to destroy a lich's phylactery to truly kill them.

There is, however, one individual -- Gunther Arcanus -- that is undead, yes, but still mortal and maintaining his own free will, completely free of the Lich King influence after having broken free of it himself -- but he's so powerful that the people around him refer to him as a lich -- even though he isn't one.

That is how I see Alastor. He's not an Overlord, but he's powerful enough that everyone refers to him as one.

That even though Adam was dead, the reality that someone else (Adam's lieutenant) will continue the exterminations until Hell was completely gone was still on the horizon unless the hotel could successfully redeem a sinner.

"We will be ready for what Heaven throws at us next... Remember that we have some powerful people on our side, we have Miss Charlie's father, the King of Hell himself to take care of any dangerous threats his daughter can't handle for some reason." Of course, that also meant dealing with the relatives of Lucifer's family in Heaven... Not to mention, Queen Lilith was still M.I.A in all this... Just where was she right now following her disappearance 7 years ago?

"Miss Charlie created this hotel to save her people, that also means giving them a safe place where they can rest and not have to worry about any threats breathing over their shoulders while they pursue a path to redeemption... A safe place that is a shelter, a place with a warm shower and fresh food... A place where... A healthy support system is made." His living world was nothing but filled with corruption and injustice, even though his home city was home to important historic events in human history.

Even with those changes in history, there was still those who wanted do harm to others for just existing in general... For being a violation of what their status quo was.

Civilization fell apart completely when the undead apocalypse occurred... From what he saw, good people became bad people, it was a fight to survive in general against both the living and the mindless rotting undead.

"Heaven can't exist without Hell, but killing sinners isn't going to solve the overpopulation, as long as sin exists, it will continue unless humanity is guided away from embracing the darkness of their life... Genocide never solves any problems... It just worsens things... Not everyone deserves a second chance, but they deserve an attempt to at least try." No one was too far gone beyond redeemption unless proven otherwise.

"... I will do everything I can to help keep this hotel safe, I'm not an overlord, yes... But I still want to help protect this place and those residing in it." He looked around the hotel, remembering everything that had happened over the course of the 6 months leading up into the war.
