I noticed this, too! It makes sense for him to be alarmed when Blitzø (the guy whom, at this point, he believes to have caused the fire on purpose and to hate his guts) is holding a knife over him looking like that, but it was very curious when he had a similar reaction to Ozzie holding the scissors. Could be just a phobia, but considering this is fiction, they wouldn't have included this just because, there has to be some kind of meaning. Maybe trauma from his amputation or surgery.

I love how it's "Just because you had a crappy life, doesn't justify what you're doing!" For the villains, yet it's also "give them a break, they've been through too much 🥺" for the people we're supposed to root for

I would say that unfortunately despite loving it more this is far more of a problem in Helluva in my eyes personally. I have to give Hazbin its props where they're due. Yes Alastor being acceptable while Valentino is the scum of the Earth is definitely uh shall we say a bit off beat, Adam is a really great antagonist in a lot of ways. While antagonists being stupid idiots all the time is getting old with these shows, making the villain of Hazbin S1 specifically a guy whos constantly been celebrated to the point be believes hes basically incapable of any wrong. Idk. I really really love it! I think it works really well in a lot of ways.

Its a shame despite liking it a fair bit more, Helluva is so all over the place and confused in comparison I would say. Assassinating people or killing them due to negligence is funny and fine (including other hellborn not just people on Earth with an afterlife waiting!)... until Striker wants to kill a rich person, then its rich people phobia and its soooooo horrible and bad. Its honestly just a joke how confused it all is, and imo it all consistently boils down to how Helluva wants to discuss class but just cannot properly. Because to do it properly would be to admit even nice cute wooby gays like Ozzie and Stolas benefit from it and are complicit in it. Hazbin feels at least more consistent in wanting to point out that being in heaven forever or hell forever is far too black and white and extreme.

Thats just my opinion on the 2 but yeah, I really feel like Hazbin did nail it by making the sinners actually change and better themselves, and have to face harsh truths. They are rewarded by seeking genuine bonds with others too. While Adam is so sure what hes doing is righteous and fine and he never questions how he treats anyone. He would never question himself - and this arrogance cost him his life. Ngl I really like it.

I do think perhaps some tweaks would have been nice. Like Adam not swearing in front of other heavenly figures, but openly doing it around underlings or hell's denizens would have been an amazing touch - kinda like an awful spoiled college guy coming home for Christmas dinner and pretending to be all cute and upstanding to his parents, maybe it could have even been a subconscious thing. But, as it is it feels a lot less confused to me, what Hazbins been going for so far Vs. Helluva. Even if Hazbin is too rushed.

Maybe Ozzy looks normal and Prowl just has a mild phobia of babies. 'Are they supposed to look like this' he thinks when Mesothulas makes him hold the newborn.

Prowl is probably just looking for visual confirmation of his own guilt. He’s been up to all manner of Unwholesome things with Mesothulas and this is the monstrous culmination. Surely it must be apparent to the eye. Yes! This infant has no teeth!!! “Newborns don’t have teeth,” Mesothulas reassures him. Prowl frowns skeptically as he holds Ostaros at arm’s length like a bomb.

name meaning. The name Kai has Welsh origins but means different things in other cultures. Most often if you look it up it gives the Hawaiian meaning; 'The Sea', but in Welsh origin it means 'Keeper of the keys and earth'

( ** There really aren't many if any headcanons I've never shared with people, I've had Kai for 6 years as a muse in total. But I'll recycle some really old ones from my first blog fgbfdhbg )

i. Kai knows how to play piano...or knew how to play piano at one point I should say. He hasn't touched one since he was in high school. ii. His handwriting is awful. Like good luck reading anything he's ever wrote on paper, even he has trouble deciphering it sometimes (example below of how I wrote it once and I still think it's neater than what he'd do.)

iii. This is kind of implied canon more than a headcanon but who cares. Kai changes out the rose on his parents bedroom door frequently, even adding some other flowers his mom liked sometimes.

Winter Anderson - His little sister, practically almost like a daughter in his eyes in my personal headcanon. Kai helped raise her since they were both kids and their mother suffered from mental illnesses and sometimes had trouble putting her attention on them and taking care of her abusive husband at the same time. Regardless of their differences and everything they've been through, they've stuck by each other's sides. Even though they shouldn't have. It would've been better for Winter in the end at least if she hadn't.

Julie Anderson - His mother whom he holds at a higher regard than she most likely deserved. But Kai was always a momma's boy and definitely Julie's favorite child out of the bunch, you'll never catch him admitting anything negative about her. He'll say that she did her best despite the situation. Kai just wishes he could've stopped her from aiming the gun at her mouth that night. Losing her like that broke something in him that never did recover.

Jon Stark ( @perzysprumia ) - His childhood best friend. Honestly these two are the trope of they're a similar character with one of them getting corrupted over time. Jon is someone he was always able to turn to and entrust the true nature of his home life with. Though, it was fairly easy to do so when Jon actually lived with the Anderson family at one point. Kai has always had a difficult grasp on romantic love, wasn't sure if he ever felt it a day in his life. Until Jon returned, until he devoted himself to him and the cult despite not agreeing with the murder aspect of Kai's movement, despite Kai not being the man he once knew. Kai is undoubtedly in love with him, but it doesn't mean its healthy for either of them.

two things your character regrets.

i. Killing Winter and Vincent. More-so Winter than Vincent since he discovered she didn't actually betray him so he basically killed her for nothing. As much as he believes it was necessary with his older brother, looking back after he's gone, he really wishes he had him around to give advice. ii. Not killing Ally. He knows it was a mistake to trust her, but his own curiosity to push on people's fragile mental states and manipulate mixed with his paranoia and delusions at the time really just made him cling on to the idea that maybe just maybe Ally was a good person to have on his side. That Ozzy may in fact be his son despite him knowing he wasn't. And despite him literally encouraging her wife to torment and leave her smh.

i. Failure, more specifically not leaving behind or doing anything to be remembered for. ii. Open / deep water or drowning, this is something that makes him uncomfortable more than fearful, but it isn't really a factor in most cases. iii. Being betrayed by those closest to him. He has major trust issues.

       Right back the snoot comes for Ozzy and his phobias both, as Miranda nudges her snoot under the palm of his hand, practically all but making him keep patting her. That’s the secret of having a snoot: getting pats and boops actually feels very nice, and Miri’s a sucker for physical affection in all its forms.

what are 3 things you’d say shaped you into who you are?

oh jeeze. My Pops really shaped me in terms of showing me how to care for your loved ones and show up for them. Acts of Service to a T. You don't bitch and moan about it you just show up and help.

I was bullied a lot as a kid, by students and by teachers. I don't really rely on anybody for emotional safety unless you're really fucking close to me and even then I waffle back and forth as to whether I can trust you or not. Abandoment issues all over the place. But it's severely impacted my ability to foster emotional intimacy.

I was heavily medicated from the ages of 8-18. we're talking cocktails of Prozac Vyvanse Wellbutrin etc. sometimes together and at pretty high doses. I basically spent my entire teen years a zombie and it's been a long 8 years since reconnecting with my emotions and how to feel them. I have a deathly phobia of going back on meds now, I don't even like taking advil lol. But it's shaped my emotional threshold for things p heavily.

Any LOTR ring Hands DOWN. I would say also Elf, since my family watches it every holiday season. And then Maurice probably.

8. any recurring dreams?

I don't dream!!! It's very rare and if I do its usually run of the mill nightmares or full blown sleep paralysis. I used to have one when I really little that my dog went to the vets and had his head cut off. I sleepwalked to the top of my stairs once as my parents were coming to bed and said I couldn't find ozzy(the dogs) head. Lol they were understandably freaked out

Why do they have these fears? Are these fears innate, trauma-based, or generational?:

Being thrown away like he was nothing by the one he called father made him afraid of losing everything again. He would die not to lose what he built or to save people that trust him to protect them. This is why if you manage to get Ozzie to really like you, he will be overprotective.

Have they ever tried to work through or confront these fears? How did it go?

A couple of times after letting people leave his binding contract, Asmodeus thought they would just leave but they stayed.
