Parliament-Funkadelic has operated as a musical “college” for most of its storied existence. Phenomenal musicians that utilize the organization’s revolving door policy, while still being faithful to the overarching concept that is P-Funk. The result has been industrial-strength Funk grooves that go in multiple directions at once. And in the end, it’s always on THE ONE!

Ruth Copeland: "Don't You Wish You Had (What You Had When You Had It)"
I did not know the music of Ruth Copeland until I saw her on Questlove’s Sly Lives! documentary. Like many female artists of the 1960s and early 70s, she was unknown while still playing an important role in the history of that era’s music. You can learn more in her Wikipedia article. Her first two albums feature many original members of P-Funk, including Bernie Worrell on keys and Eddie Hazel’s…

Someone on social media wrote a message yesterday and said that with everything going on they went to see George Clinton do a great show, playing 2 and a ahlf hours. And they noted it was so much fun.
I guess I had that on my mind when I got home from work and started listening to P-Funk. A few songs in I noticed I was feeling happy. Nostalgia is funny, because some really hard times were put in mind. I got feeling quite emotional, and yet, listening to the music is a reminder how "music is a healer." The many stellar musicians orbeting in the Funkadelic are Doctors of the highest order.
