BOYYYYY have i listened to their new album!!

i would sum it up as really self-indulgent. it just happens to be the sort of scintillating psychedelic self-indulgence that i enjoy, so they get a pass for dropping an album that's EIGHTEEN songs long. it took like a week to grow on me but then all of their songs started getting stuck in my head so i was like oh. oh i like this.

loved the themes of humanity x technology, loved the 90s videogame sounds (u know i feel like they took inspo not from 90s videogames directly but instead from vaporwave??), the analog recordings and the fact that plenty of sounds on the album give off a found-footage vibe.

I met this nice girl through my college friend. She's my friend's childhood best friend and I had heard so much about her so I was really excited to finally meet her. The three of us hung out at a stupid school-sponsored event into the late hours of the night, drinking soda and eating pizza and getting to know each other. At the end of it, she entered into a raffle and ended up winning free tickets to Disneyland. We celebrated and parted ways. It was the highlight of that semester.

A few months later, Israel began dropping bombs on her family home. I watched from afar as her entire life fell apart and her family was displaced and killed. Every time I asked how she was doing, she was doing bad.

In Palestine, as in a lot of places in the world, it is shameful to ask for money. A little bit after the war began, I passed a message along to her family offering to help raise funds for their evacuation, but they declined saying that they didn't want pity from anyone. Now it seems like they're running out of options.

My friend has already lost so much so please spare her the additional indignity of asking for help and not receiving it. I can't imagine how soul crushing it would be to do something you believe to be shameful and for your effort to go to waste.

Their goal is only $5000 and they've already raised ~$820, I don't see why we can't raise the full amount within the next week.

Verified by the fact that this is literally my IRL. DM me if u wanna see her Instagram or other contact info proving she's real. Tumblr is a rather unsafe place for Palestinians so I'd rather not publicize all her personal info but I've been pretty careful with the fundraisers I boost on this blog so I hope you can trust me here.

nesma is trying to evacuate 12 members of her family from gaza.

her father was tortured and abused by the IOF, and is in need of medication that isn't available. the family has been very very close to death several times. nesma has to endure bombing close by when she travels to get internet to boost her campaign. even nesma's 10 year old sister has said that she feels like she will die soon. we can't let them live in these conditions any longer!

Please, please give what you can to this family. They have been displaced 11 times, battled hepatitis and malnutrition, and live in uncertainty day after day. They actively moved back into a dangerous area in order to avoid the spread of diseases, and frequently tell me of their daily suffering, sending photos of their 4-year-old daughter Habiba waiting in a line for dirty drinking water. Her 1-year-old brother Muhammad crawls on the ground covered in rubble. The children are frequently frightened by bombings. The family's only solace has been hope for escape, which is not easy to ask for help with.

something disturbing I see happening a lot is when posts with notes in the tens of thousands sharing fundraisers are nowhere near their goals - obviously I'm grateful that their fundraisers have been shared, and I'm glad that people have donated, but it's still so disheartening to seeing 20,000+ reblogs on one post for a fundraiser and then go to the gofundme and see that the amount of donations is just a small fraction of that.

the most recent example I've come across is Ola's ( @olagaza ) campaign, which she has documented here! as of my writing this post there are 28,318 notes on Ola's post, but only 1585 donations. Ola is still not very far over halfway to the $50,000 goal she's set.

This GFM is hosted by me, I met Alaa and Haitham because we have a common friend that is from Gaza but is now residing in Egypt. Alaa and Haitham are 2 brothers that lost their entire family when Israel bombed their home.

Because of some issues I will have to stop hosting their GFM by the end of the month, I am trying to find a new host but so far I wasn't able to find anyone.

I won't keep you long. Here are the facts:

Siraj Abudayeh @siraj2024 is a Gazan journalist and a father of three.

He and his family have been displaced 7 times.

They have survived multiple recent massacres in Khan Yunis.

They live in a tent that feels like a "convection oven".

He can hear tank fire across the street.

His parents and siblings escaped Deir al-Balah and are now homeless; he has to care for them too.

He needs to raise $5,000 CAD / $3653 USD by the end of the day.

He's probably gotten a hundred thousand notes on his posts at this point.

This has been meaningless. His campaign moves at a glacial pace.

The Palestinian genocide is the fault of the US, UK, Israel, and the imperial core in general.
