It's ranting hours sunday for me: Y' know, I think when people complain soooo much about Padmé getting with Anakin, they're failing to see a lot of things. BUT ESPECIALLY...That it was her choice, and if speaks a lot of her character and personality.
She was already done dirty by the movies by getting so many deleted scenes, but then if you try to take away the agency she had on marrying a human disaster or her choices, like her forgiveness/understanding, it's actually undermining and flattening her character.
The fact is that she's actually very similar to Anakin, she's stubborn, deeply traumatized, compromises a lot for the sake of others and loves beyond reasoning. We, the audience, know that Anakin will become Darth Vader and one of the most iconic villains of history; so everything he does can be seem as a red flag that really isn't there.
From Padmé's POV, Anakin has done terrible things, but it's capable of incredible acts of love and compassion. They're in circumstances that aren't normal at all, she was queen at 14, and he was born a slave and joined the space wizard monks and his normal is kill or be killed. Our modern and omniscient POV can't be applied onto them because there's no point of comparison in this sci-fi-shakespearen tragedy-soap-opera-fantasy.
Besides...she was actually right in the end, and I don't believe is "feminist" or progressive to take away a big part of her core personality, that actually had repercussions in the whole story, and make her out to be either unaware and naive of marrying a monster, or (the worst one, imo) being jedi-mind-tricked-brainwashed-abused by her husband.
The "right, correct, girlboss and queen" actitude does more damage than help, leave Padmé to be a person. A person who wanted to have a fairytale romance with some guy who would fight for her and makes her laugh.
Also, the hell why you wanna blame her for something Anakin does, come on. That's a whole other can of worms, though. My point is, that trying to avoid or re-work-or re-contextualize the fact that she chose Anakin despite him literally telling her about murdering a whole village, is actually changing a big chunk of her personality traits.
She was a child queen, then a politician at the edge of an inminent war, manipulated by the same guy that groomed Anakin into a massive murderer, saw her people being taken into camps, had assasination attempts weekly and had to rip off of her individualism by becoming a public figure, giving up her sense of being a person by having several almost identical decoys, she had to stop being just Padmé to be Queen and then Senator Amidala and she did all of that showing little to no emotion.
Then Anakin does all what she herself had to rip off of her in order to be a politician: Honest, passionate, and able to show emotions; like love or anger.
She has morals and she represents democracy and justice, in a way. But I fully believe that inside her she had the same passionate anger and love capable of burning the galaxy that we know Anakin had, which makes them different sides of the same coin, and I think she realized that. Anakin perhaps didn't , as he never stopped of seeing himself as a slave and therefore inferior, whereas he held Padmé very highly, but I think Padmé saw them both as equals. She didn't have a "I can fix him" mentality, she had a "We're the same, we're both lonely, confused, hurting and scared of losing everything. And if he's like me, then I know he can do the right thing for love."
In other words: She was as insane as her husband, she only seems normal because she wasn't put into the monk warrior order and groomed by the devil for over a decade. (And I don't mean insane as, 'she's crazy for loving a murderer' harley quinn style, I just meant it on a daring, hopeless romantic and tenacious way)

~☆~
He speaks to you when you sleep. He's been doing it since he died
It's not that he visits you from the afterlife, no, he visits you in memories that feel a little too real.
This time, you're eighteen years old, a small braid still behind your ear. You're two Padawans, swimming in a Naboo lake, laughing as he holds your waist, lifting you and throwing you further into the water.
You were clad in garments that Queen Padmé Amidala had graciously given the both of you, seeing as neither of you had swimming attire appropriate for just going out and having fun.
His hair was chopped short, and he had a matching braid behind his right ear. He had not lost his arm to Count Dooku, nor did he have his iconic scar that went from his right eyebrow down to his cheekbone.
The memory isn't tainted by the other memories you'd have later in life, you're oblivious in this dream. It's just you re-living your time as a Padawan.
Your robes and lightsabers are up on the land, under a tree. Anakin swims the small distance over to where he threw you, a big grin deepening his smile lines. Your own smile mirrored his own. The two of you were happy, not having to bend to the Jedi rules while you're out swimming in some clear water. A break.
Peace.
Tranquility.
You're jolted awake by a beeping sound, so your eyes snap open. You're back in your private chambers, no longer out on the rocky terrain of Mustafar like you last remember. Did Vader take you back himself? Did he get a stormtrooper or a Droid to retrieve you?
You sit up and pat your body, seeing if anything has been done to it. Everything is normal. You're even still in the clothes you dressed yourself in.
The beeping sound coming from your door finally stopped, only for the sound of compressed air to momentarily replace it. A stormtrooper takes a step in. You think its the same one who has been delivering your food, but it's hard to tell, considering the fact that they all look the same.
"Lord Vader has requested that you change your attire and join him in the dining room." The Stormtrooper stands straight, permanently at attention.
"Tell Lord Vader that I have no interest in his... request." That was no request from him. It was a demand.
The Stormtrooper stands still, staring. For a second, you think he is going to drag you out of the room, but he just leaves. The metal door closes behind him, locking automatically, making you sigh and flop back on your bed.
You turn your head to the side, staring at the gray sheets. Your hand reaches up, and you rub the fabric between two of your fingers. Your sheets back at the Jedi Temple were almost the exact same shade of gray. The sheets you grew up sleeping with curled up in a ball on most nights after an intense training session with your old Master.
A sense of loss fills you...
You've lost everything.
Your home, your rank, your friends, your freedom... You've lost it all.
You don't feel that for long, because a feeling of dread replaces it. He's close. You can feel the dark presence of him. He is angry. He is frustrated.
Your answer was a mistake. You should have just done what you were told.
Mechanical doors open, and the air lock breaks yet again. In all of his terrifying 6'8 glory, Darth Vader stands.
In this moment, you realize that the lenses on his helmet are red, not black like the rest of his attire. It's silly, really... noticing something so small when you could possibly die in this moment.
Would he do the signature move you hear stories of? Use the force to wrap an invisible hand around your throat, crushing your trachea, cutting off the part that makes oxygen go to your lungs, leaving you dead by asphyxiation?
"You were told to join me!" His modulated voice raises, making you blink a few times as you stare up at him with wide eyes. This is it. "Why can't you do what you are told?"
The spit that had collected under your tongue was now going down your throat thickly, making you feel like you swallowed a stone. "I do not obey your kind." You fix your posture in a second, speaking in a strong voice to try and hide whatever you feel.
Darth Vader stares back at you for a second, only the sounds of his modulated breath escaping him.
"My kind?" He speaks right before a dark and deep chuckle can be heard. "A Sith? An Emperor? The most powerful being in the galaxy? A killer? Do explain, Y/N."
You ball up your fists as you swallow again. "A tyrant. A Sith. A killer without cause. Call it what you will."
His steps were loud against the metal floor as he approached you, standing right in front of you. His large hand grabs your face with slight force, but not roughly. You've heard whispers about how he is just a machine. That his hands are just made of wires, screws, and the metal that holds it together. You don't know if you believe that because whatever he's holding you with is not as hard as metal. You can feel it under his leather gloves.
"We are one of the same." He tells you. "The sooner you see that, the sooner I can get what I want."
"We are not the same!" You yell stupidly. Who would yell at the most powerful Sith that is known for killing without remorse?
He's silent again, just staring down at you.
"Wear the wine colored dress. I'll be waiting."

Ok, another random thought, there needs to be a vaderdala fanfic where Padmé and Vader (suited masked scars and all) dance together!!! Like... a gala dance by the empire and Padmé must pretend to go with flow with Palpatine's invitation. She wears a super beautiful iconic dress, looks, you know usual Padmé stuff! She's really there to spy on but Vader is kipping his eyes on her, suddenly they meet at the center of the ballroom and start discussing with each other (like the jude watson secret of the jedi part! Vader telling her he knows she's here to spy and risking her life which he won't allow, then Padmé snaps at him telling him they are no longer in the same team, etc. Something like that). And just there the music starts to sound and to avoid suspicions, Vader extends his hand and pretends to invite her to dance, which she forces herself to accept. The lights turn a little low for effect and they get lost in the crowd, Padmé feeling strangely nervous while he holds her, discussing in whispers... Vader carefully touching her hands, arms, waist and back... twirling her surprisingly good then standing behind her, getting closer and Padmé starts letting her guard down... hearing his voice whispering close to her neck, even though he sounds different he still speaks the words of Anakin and they get lost in their slow dance.
Meanwhile Palps is observing from afar... thinking if his apprentice is really capable to accomplish with his mission. Bring Amidala to him and force her to reveal the Rebel's plans.

My Crush: Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman is a talented actress, producer and director who has become one of the most recognized personalities in the world of film. She was born on 9 June 1981 in Israel under the name Neta-Lee Hershlag and later adopted the stage name Natalie Portman. Her career began at a young age and since then she has become one of the most popular and respected actresses of her generation.
Natalie Portman has become known for her outstanding performances in a variety of roles in films and television productions. One of the highlights of her career was the role of Padmé Amidala in the "Star Wars" prequels, which earned her international recognition. Her grace, strength and complexity in this iconic role made her an unforgettable part of this popular franchise.
In addition to her many accomplishments, Natalie Portman has also made a name for herself in roles where she has chosen to reveal her body in select scenes. It is important to point out that these moments were always carefully thought out and meaningfully integrated into the context of the story.
One of the films where Natalie Portman showed her body was "Black Swan" (2010), where she played the role of dancer Nina Sayers. This film, directed by Darren Aronofsky, follows the psychological struggles and transformation of the main character. The unveiling of the body in the film had a deep symbolic meaning and was key to portraying the emotional tension of the character.
Another film where Natalie Portman bared her body was Closer (2004), a romantic drama directed by Mike Nichols. Here she played the role of a young American stripper, Alice, whose body revelation added to the tension and complexity of the interpersonal relationships in the film.
Natalie Portman also excels in films with intimate scenes, such as "Hotel Chevalier" (2007), a short film directed by Wes Anderson that serves as a prequel to his feature film "The Darjeeling Limited". Here, she plays the role of the main character's ex-girlfriend, and her revelation of her body is key to conveying the film's nostalgia and emotional tension.
It is important to appreciate Natalie Portman as an artist for the overall context of her career and for her ability to bring depth and authenticity to films, regardless of whether she chooses to reveal her body in select scenes. Her work, including the films where she has chosen to show her body, is a testament to her artistic commitment and ability to combine her acting skills with the visual expression of emotion and story.

One Dress a Day Challenge
June: Weddings
Star Wars, Episode II: Attack of the Clones / Natalie Portman as Padmé Amidala
I'm sure everyone's heard the story by now about how the decoration for the dress was taken from an antique bedspread, mixed with 300 yards of French-knit braid created at a workshop in Sydney, Australia. That's an amazing amount of work for a dress that only appears onscreen very briefly, but it become instantly iconic, so I guess they knew what they were doing.
The decoration on the veil is described as seed pearls and "Edwardian wax flowers," but I'm not sure whether that means the wax flowers are themselves antique or whether they're just made using an Edwardian method.
In-universe, Padme apparently whipped up this wedding gown herself with the help of a former handmaiden and a sewing droid.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CHALLENGE. day one - march 6th. “I’M A DAMSEL, I’M IN DISTRESS, I CAN HANDLE THIS”
Everyone had someone they looked up to growing up, for lots of us, that was someone in the media, and for lots of girls across the country, they came in the shapes of Disney characters. For this day, we want you to show which female media icon your OC looked up to as a little girl. Whether that be Megara, Princess Leia or even Katniss Everdeen.
Amelia Rowe looked up to Ariel and Princess Leia. As a relatively shy and curious girl, Ariel represented Amelia in many ways. Amelia also wanted to understand the world around her, and with her Autism she really struggled (also she loved mermaids...and red hair). Princess Leia was a woman who didn't take any shit, and Amelia loved that. Space Princess? Sign her up!
Lauren Murray looked up to Hermione Granger, Padmè Amidala and The Spice Girls. As a 90s gal, The Spice Girls influenced her the most, whilst Padmé and Hermione told her it was cool to be smart.
Poppy Alton looked up to Rapunzel and Barbie. Poppy grew up in the 2000's, and her faviroute doll was Journalist Barbie, who proved that Poppy could become whatever she wanted. Rapunzel taught her that dreams can come true, and to stand up for herself.
+ Bonus Amelia edit

He was at the top of his game, but in a way that bored everyone. Another win. Another trophy. Another photoshoot airport in-flight green tea smile for the cameras locker room post match shower hotel bed jack off yoga sauna airport locker room tennis court shake hands smile show hotel alarm airport court match. Endless cycle. It was all getting a bit— tedious.
Padme on the other hand: she'd served her country faithfully for a decade and then decided she'd missed tennis. At forty, she came out of retirement and made her comeback. Gen X women, who had grown up on the girl power 90s with the iconic Padme Amidala in a Nike two piece posters on their walls, loved her. Millennials in school loved her. Men of every age loved her. Her straight eyebrows and amber eyes peered at you from every billboard advertisement. Her dimples winked at you from each perfume commercial with whimsical yet unintelligible storylines. Her power serve graced every magazine cover in the nation.
Everyone loves a comeback story.
And now that Anakin and Padme are back on top — separately — the tongues began to wag again. Not that it matters much in Padme’s case. She's pathologically private about her personal life now. She must be donating over half her salary to paying off the press. Anakin, however, will never have that kind of leverage. His antics have sold too many stories. He's dressed in standard incognito to watch her match today: black baseball cap and sunglasses, long hair curling around his ears. He clenches his hands: everyone else’s heads swing back and forth as they follow the ball across the court. But Anakin only watches Padme.
Mace texts again. Cameras still haven’t spotted you. But LEAVE AT THE HALF, OKAY?
