I always had a thought that Astinus keeps a list of people he’s banned from the Great Library, even though he can’t strictly enforce it. It’s like Mr. Gold’s shop in OUAT. Everyone just comes in and ignores the “Closed” sign.
Those on the list in no particular order:
1. Raistlin
2. Caramon
3. Tasslehoff
4. Crysania
5. Dalamar
6. Palin

Throw Down at GOP Debate
The Daily Show
Tim Scott's girlfriend reveal.
youtube
Comments
Wow Tim Scott’s mail order bride finally arrived
<< Tim Scott's Mindy is probably thinking, "This is the weirdest Tinder date I've ever been on. ">>
"Foot Glocker" joke
“Excuse me, I must accidentally fall out of window now.”
Tim Scott rented a girlfriend. LOL
Lol. And she had to be blonde, southern and republican. Talk about cliches.
"Leave my daughter out of your voice," in Will Smith's voice. I was waiting for a slap!
"Excuse me, i must accidentally fall out window now" Ugh if only 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ If Vivek could get that done id actually consider voting for him 😅😅 (parallel reality, never happen - just like him and his allies like NK and Iran just magically becoming peaceful bc we wish it 😔)

Republican Debate Cold Open - SNL
Lester Holt (Kenan Thompson) moderates the Republican candidates (Chloe Fineman, Ego Nwodim, Molly Kearney, Devon Walker, John Higgins) during a debate before Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson) interrupts.

Comments
Guy that plays trump killed it. The best trump impersonator I've seen on the show
Just James on stage roasting people as trump is a brilliant idea, he's so convincing when he belittles his fellow players. James is approaching Tina Fey's Palin level of impression perfection, and just getting better
I could not stop watching Heidi keeping her arm up the whole time. She is great. 😂
That was gold. And thank you to “Lester Holt” for pointing out that Haley got messed up “keep my daughter’s name out of your mouth.”
"keep my daughter out of your mouth" just doesn't come off right.
”leave”, she said “leave my daughters name out of your voice”.
The SNL skit was just making fun of Nikki’s rather clumsy attempt at replicating the Will Smith moment, that’s all. “Leave my daughter out of your VOICE.” 🥴🥴However way you guys try to remix it, it doesn’t change the fact that she still meant “… name out of your MOUTH.” 🤣🤣

Rothschilds envolvidos na Independência do Brasil; Jacob Rothschild visto com Marina Abramovic (Macumbeira e “guia espiritual” de famosos de Hollywood); Drogas; Rituais Satânicos de Crowley (Sangue, Esperma e Leite)
1: The Rothschilds in Brazil
For almost two hundred years, Rothschild has been involved in the financial development of Brazil. The relationship dates back to the time of Nathan Mayer Rothschild, who issued a loan in 1825 to help Brazil secure its independence from Portugal. Further loans helped to develop railways and infrastructure and as agents to the government, Rothschild helped Brazil maintain its standing in financial markets. Nathan's London banking house, N M Rothschild, dealt in bullion and foreign exchange, and his remarkable successes in these fields earned him the contract from the British Government to supply Wellington's troops with gold coin in 1814 and 1815, leading up to the Battle of Waterloo. He issued 26 British and foreign government loans between 1818 and 1835 and in 1824 floated the Alliance Assurance Company. Nathan's involvement in Brazil can be traced to his connection by marriage to the firm of Samuel, Phillips & Co. (archive files XI/38/215A and XI/38/215B): Samuel Moses Samuel was married to Nathan's sister-in-law Esther (née Cohen).
2: Financing the new nation Nathan Rothschild in London, although otherwise cautious about South American investments, took an early interest in the new state. He was probably considering a loan to Brazil as early as 1823, but the first loan in 1824 was managed by a group of smaller contractors consisting of Baylett, Farquhar & Co., Alexander & Co. and Wilson, Shaw & Co. Nathan may well have discretely supported this group, because in 1825 he managed a second, larger, tranche of the loan, amounting to £2,000,000.  The loan was secured on customs revenues. When the South American speculative bubble burst at the end of the 1820s, Brazil managed to preserve a degree of solvency. This was in large part due to Nathan's financial innovation in raising a loan of £400,000 in 1829 specifically to service Brazil's existing debts. This bond is thought to be the first of its kind. 3: Railways The Rothschilds had been involved in the development of railways around the world and Brazil was no exception. As early as 1858 they issued their first loans to Brazilian railway companies, the Bahia and San Francisco Railway Company and the Don Pedro Segundo Railway Company, followed by the São Paulo (Brazilian) Railway Company in 1859. Further loans were issued to these companies over the years, and the Western of Minas Railroad was added to their number in 1893. The railways opened up Brazil's interior: immigrants poured in and coffee planting expanded enormously. […] 4: Henry Lynch (1878-1958) Henry Lynch was N M Rothschild and Son's representative in Brazil from 1919 until his retirement in 1957. Palin, an employee of the bank in London, describes Lynch in his memoirs Rothschild Relish  (1970): "This great character, a member of an old-established Anglo-Brazilian family, was a partner in an import and export business but more importantly for us he was the agent and representative in Brazil of NMR. He was a bachelor, tall, with a complexion which deepened during the years I knew him from pink to purple, fond of good living, and occupying a unique position in Rio, where he was sometimes said to be more the British Ambassador than the British Ambassador was. Knowing and known to everybody who was anybody in governmental, political, financial, commercial and social circles, he always seemed to me to be supremely well fitted for his job." Lynch became indispensable to the bank, and was dedicated to the promotion of British interests in Brazil. He sent the bank regular and detailed information and advice on commercial, political, and economic matters, and was a conduit to the very highest levels of Brazilian government. His correspondence files for the years 1919-1940 discuss inter alia proposed loans; loans being sought and issued elsewhere; and developments at the Banco do Brasil. 5: Coffee […] As a result the bank participated in the 1922 loan to Brazil intended to help finance the stock-piling of coffee. With a £9,000,000 loan secured on 3,000,000 sacks of coffee, the government had to protect this economically vital commodity. In 1924, as agents for the Brazilian government, Rothschilds sought out insurance for the coffee, gathering information about fire protection in the warehouses across the state of São Paulo.

Performance do olhar

A mesma morte? A mesma dor?

GLENN LOWRY: By the 1970s, performance art had achieved a level of notoriety and even acceptance. However, because many artists used their bodies aggressively in their performances, it was often perceived as masochistic and sensationalist. [...] MARINA ABRAMOVIĆ: I was standing there in the middle of the space,[with] this table with objects I put the objects on the table very carefully chosen, because the objects was for pleasure, and there was also the object for pain and objects that can bring you to death. GLENN LOWRY: Some of the objects included were a rose, a feather, grapes, honey, a whip, a scalpel, a gun and a bullet. MARINA ABRAMOVIĆ: In the beginning, the public was really very much playing with me. Later on it became more and more aggressive. It was six hours of real horror. They would cut my clothes. They will cut me with a knife, close to my neck, and drink my blood, and then put the plaster over the wound. They will, carry me around, half-naked, put me on the table, and stuck the knife between my legs into the wood. And, even somebody put the bullet in the pistol, and put in my hand and see if I were pressing it, her hand against my hand, if I would resist. But, I remember after six hours when the gallerist come and say this piece, it's finished that I start being by myself and start walking through the audience naked and with blood, and tears in my eyes, everybody run away, literally run out of the door. I remember coming to the hotel that evening, looking at myself in the mirror and seeing really big piece of white hair.

Jantares 'Spirit Cooking', Marina Abramović e a Elite Oculta
https://www.teoriamaxima.com.br/2023/06/jantares-spirit-cooking-marina.html?zx=764023c2f4d29330

https://href.li/?https://revistatrip.uol.com.br/tpm/marina-abramovic-e-sua-jornada-espiritual-pelo-brasil

The Diary of a Drug Fiend.

A Bíblia e as Drogas

Oracle of Delphi

The rest of this chapter (Acts 16.16-.40) is packed with interesting concepts and teachings, so we’re going to go slowly and try to gain as much understanding as possible from the text. We begin with Paul’s encountering a woman possessed by a spirit of divination. In the Greek this is literally the spirit of Python, which is not surprising when one considers the location of these events.

Carlos Wagner has written an exciting book that synthesizes the current body of knowledge about the role of psychoactive substances, and also presents insights from neuroscience on how they affect the mind and body. The use of vision-inducing substances in spiritual rituals officiated by priestly elites enabled them to maintain their own power and prestige through stories, rituals and images. The myths, visions, sorceries, oracles and trances that persisted over four millennia can and should be viewed in the light of mythical plants like ambrosia, soma and haoma, and real ones like hellebore, dogbane, cannabis and poppy.

Peltola advances to a special election for Alaska US House
Peltola has advanced to the August special election for Alaska’s only U.S. House seat, joining three other candidates.
The four candidates who received the most votes in the special primary last Saturday will face off in a special election on August 16. Peltola is running alongside Palin and Gross.
They were chosen from a field of 48 candidates to fill the vacancy left by Young’s death in March. Young was the longest-serving member of Congress, serving for 49 years.
Peltola, who hails from Bethel in southwest Alaska, was one of only six Democrats running.
The third day of ballot counting took place on Friday. Counts were also carried out on Saturday and Wednesday. The final tally was set for Tuesday.
All candidates ran on the same ballot in a 2020 election process that ended party primaries and replaced them with ranked choice voting for general elections. The special election in August will use ranked voting. The winner will serve for the remainder of Young’s term, which ends in January.
A primary in August and a general election in November will determine who will serve a two-year House term beginning in January. Palin, Begich, Gross and Peltola are all in the running for the position.
Peltola served five terms in the Alaska House of Representatives, ending in 2009, and most recently served as executive director of a commission tasked with rebuilding the Kuskokwim River's salmon resources.
Peltola plans to use her campaign to raise awareness about food insecurity and ocean productivity. In rural Alaska, including many Alaska Native communities, where the cost of goods is high and villages are only accessible by plane, a subsistence lifestyle--relying on fish, plants and other wildlife--is critical.
Peltola is Alaska Native who spent his childhood fishing.
She worked for a company seeking to advance a gold mine project in southwest Alaska for six years, she said. Her campaign stated that she left that position due to a tailings impoundment failure at a Canadian mine site.
"Social license to operate," she said, is her litmus test for any development project. "I am not sure there is a social license to operate on Donlin, so I will defer.” Several tribes in the area are opposed to the project.

(Image at top: La Belle Assemblée March 1812 “Morning or Home Costume”The print is described in the magazine as follows:“A white cambric frock, with a demi train; short sleeves fastened up in front with cordon and tassels; a necklace formed of two rows of opal; the hair dressed in full curls, and confined by a demi-turban of very fine muslin tied on the right side with a small bow; silk stockings with lace clocks, richly brocaded, and plain black kid slippers.”)

Full sleeves, confined at the waist with a broad elastic gold bracelet; confined also at the bottom of the waist, with a ribband en suite. Foundling cap of lace, with full double border in front, confined under the chin with a ribband the colour of the pelisse, tied on one side; a bunch of variegated carnations placed on the left side. Gloves and Roman slippers of lemon-coloured kid.”

^Ackermann’s Repository of Arts October 1815 “Morning Dress” The print is described in the magazine as follows: “A cambric muslin petticoat, ornamented at the feet with a double flounce of French work, appliquéd with a narrow heading of the same;the body, from the shoulder to the neck, gathered full into narrow trimming, corresponding with the heading of the flounce; a military collar, frilled with the French work, short French negligé open in the front, and trimmed entirely round to coorespond; long loose sleeve, gathered into a narrow trimming at the wrist, with a ruffle of the same French work. Tumblr media
^ Ackermann’s Repository of Arts August 1818 “Morning Dress”  “A high dress composed of jaconet muslin: the body ha a little fullness in the back; the fronts are plain, and wrap across in the style of a fichu. A row of richly worked trimming, headed with a doudle rouleau of muslin, through which a coloured ribbon is run, ornaments the back between the shoulders, and goes down on each side of the front. Instead of a collar, the body is ornamented at the throat by a single row of work, headed by a rouleau of muslin. The skirt is of an easy fullness; it is richly embroidered round the bottom in a light pattern of branches of leaves placed upright. Over this dress is worn a pelisse composed of pearl-coloured striped lutestring, trimmed round with a row of light embroidery in a wave pattern of pearl-coloured silk. The body is made plain, tight to the shape, and the waist is of a moderate length; it has no collar, but is finished at the throat by a frill of pointed blond. Plain long sleeves, embroidered at the wrist to correspnd with the skirt of the pelisse. Head-dress, the Clarence bonnet, compoised of blond intersected with pipings of pale pink satin, and ornamented with a full garland of moss and damask roses and bluebells. This bonnet is of a French shape, but it is a moderate and becoming size: it is tied under the chin with pale pink satin ribbon. Lemon-coloured gloves, and pale pink slippers.”

Midwestern Emo Vibes
To quote Joseph Arthur’s Midwest: “There’s nothing to do in the Midwest but drink.”
Father of Mine - Everclear
Father of mine, take me back to the day, yeah, when I was still your golden boy, back before you went away
Shipment Only Knifing - Elephant Jake
I waste all my time thinking maybe tomorrow things will change for the better, but I know, I better get out of my head. Maybe my father was right when he said: “Who's got it better? Who’s got it better then you?”
Blueberry Redbull - Week Knees
I know that words just aren't worth their weight in gold. I can't help but letting them in my head, though
If it Makes You Happy - Michael Ceramic Palin
If it makes you happy it can't be that bad. If it makes you happy then why the hell are you so sad?
If you want more Midwestern emo vibes, here are some of my favorite playlists

05x04 - The End
MotW: Lucifer. And Zachariah for sending Dean to the future?
Any Cas? Yesss, two versions!
"THE VOICE SAYS I'M ALMOST OUT OF MINUTES" i'm absolutely living for Cas on a cell phone
"I'll just.. wait here then" oh babe
Tumblr media
"We're better off apart" he's probably right, but yeah, it does make me sad
HE'S IN THE FUTURE, THIS IS IT
"Oh crap" indeed!
President Palin.. that would be funny if the US hadn't elected an even worse leader two years after this 'future' is set
Of course the car is what he's sad about
FUTURE DEAN
Rhonda Hurley's pink, satiny panties 😊
"You don't trust yourself?" "No, absolutely not" that's fair Dean
Of course he can pick the lock with a bit of wood pulled from the floor
"I don't think Cas is going anywhere" 😏
Okay, but we should talk about Chuck being in this future. How does that work? Is that 2014 god still hanging around watching everhthing go to shit? Is it 2009 god inserting himself into the vision to play with Dean some more? WHO KNOWS?
Just.. EVERYTHING about future Cas. This whole scene. Fucking gold.
Tumblr media
"I thought you'd gotten over trying to label me"
Fuck, 'fearless leader' Dean is sexy
love like 💙💙💙
Tumblr media
"Of course" OF COURSE. Cas will follow you for every reckless plan you can come up with
God, why are Dean's conversations with himself always the most intense moments?
"That's just how I roll" maaan, this Cas.. The way he's describing humanity here, the way he's just given up. He doesn't care about anything anymore. Except Dean. He'll still follow Dean to the end of the earth
"CAS TOO?" 😭😭😭
Oh GOD, I know this isn't the real timeline, but seeing Dean's neck snap still send shivers down my spine
Lucifer!Sam is supposed to be so striking and impressive, but he's so entirely overshadowed by little old 2009!Dean. Doesn't mean it's not a fantastic and powerful scene, though, it really is!
Okay yeah, with Luci's "we will always end up here" speech I'm conviced Chuck created this whole future vision. It's exactly what he's always wanted
The subtitles say "No" when he says "Neh" which is such a crime. That "Neh" is brilliant
Flawless timing, actually, Cas
"DON'T EVER CHANGE"
Also Cas's fond look is so gooooood
Tumblr media
Like anyone believed for a second that Dean was about to attack Sam
I don't know, I guess I should be happy they made up, but these last two episode have been outstanding and I can't help but think that's at least in part because Dean was working with Cas instead of Sam. Imagine how good this show would be if both the leads were good actors. Maybe after 4 seasons it was good to see a different dynamic..

2019 in books:
David McCullough, 1776: A highly accessible, if somewhat naive, depiction of the year that defined the prospects for American independence. I wouldn’t go there for deep, critical analysis. But for a story of a year, it is well done.
Michael Palin, Erebus: HMS Erebus was a British naval vessel that spent much of its career in Arctic and Antarctic exploration. If you are interested in Victorian era explorations of hard places, a fascinating read.
Emilio Corsetti III, 35 Miles from Shore: The story of an airline crash in the early 1970s in the Caribbean. What happened, why, how, who survived and what we learned. Interesting if not brilliant.
Raymond Thorp, Crow Killer: Old-fashioned tale of the inspiration behind the Robert Redford movie Jeremiah Johnson. As much fantasy as history. But it offers a flavor of a time and a subgroup few Americans would know.
James Corey, Caliban’s War: The second book of “The Expanse” series. The protomolecule is working its mojo, and Earth, Mars and the Belters are none too happy with one another. A fun read of a massive space opera.
Walter Kempowski, All for Nothing: Set in the context of the collapsing Eastern Front during WWII, this story proceeds from the fractured point of view of the Germans who are about to be turned into refugees fleeing oncoming Soviet forces. The book, notably, does not make these Germans sources of sympathy: the mood is dissonant and disordered. A real piece of literature.
Hilary Mantel, Wolf Hall: Because who doesn’t want a point-of-view account of a key counselor to Henry VIII, one who rose to extraordinary wealth and power despite his humble birth and then managed the, how shall we say, removal of Kathrine as Queen? Replaced by Anne Boleyn? Who wouldn’t want to read it? It’s excellent, by the way.
James Corey, Abaddon’s Gate: Book three of The Expanse, and the protomolecule has remade humanity’s relationship to the universe. But we’ll probably screw that up, too. Another good story, filled with actual thought about the problems of space travel and space living.
MIchael Krondl, The Taste of Conquest: The Rise and Fall of the Three Great Cities of Spice: Venice, Lisbon and Amsterdam each in their turn dominated the global spice trade -- a trade that was one of the main stimuli for early colonialism and imperial conquest, and which strongly influenced the rise of the modern corporation as a linch-pin of global capitalism. The book is not as good as it should be, but the story is one that few people know, but should.
Hilary Mantel, Bring Up the Bodies: Hey, it’s time to get rid of Anne Boleyn everyone! Or, at least, to separate her head from her body. And let’s manage the English Reformation, too ... all just a few years before losing our own head. Welcome to the early/middle 1500s in England everyone!
Leigh Perry, A Skeleton in the Family: Who doesn’t have a skeleton living in their house who helps solve mysteries. I mean, who doesn’t?
JK Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: So my son has started reading Harry Potter. So I have started reading Harry Potter. I liked this book: it’s tight, it’s focused, it’s a fun read. I see the appeal.
Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, Good Omens: The answer to the questions: “What if the angels and demons charged with over-seeing Earth as humans go from the Garden of Eden to Armageddon decide that they like Earth and don’t want Armageddon to happen (even if their allies do)? And what if the Anti-Christ were raised in a perfectly mundane family in a perfectly mundane English village? How might it all turn out?” To delightful and funny effect.
JK Rowling, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Meh. Okay. Not as good as book one. But still a good story.
Gilbert King, Devil in the Grove: Thurgood Marshall, the Groveland Boys, and the Dawn of a New America: A broad pastiche of events surrounding one of the many civil rights cases of the 1940s and 50s: the abuses and murders of several African American men accused of raping a white woman in Lakeland, FL, in 1949. With a whole lot of associated discussions of other cases, the NAACP, corrupt and criminal law enforcement, race riots, and the like. A good read. And how can it be that the bastard George HW Bush, put Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court to fill a seat once held by the staggering legal figure that was Thurgood Marshall. Shameful is the only word.
JK Rowling, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: Certainly better than the Chamber of Secrets. A darker turn. But beginning to get padded as readers demanded “more” if not “better.”
James Corey, Cibola Burn: Book 4 of The Expanse ... and I didn’t like it. It seemed like filler, a book written to a contract deadline. Maybe it will pay off in the end. But another one like that and I’m not going to care.
Tom Phillips, Humans: A Brief History of How We Fucked It All Up: Did you know our oldest known ancestor, Lucy, probably died by falling out of a tree? If stories about how people have messed things up, have suffered both intentional and unintentional consequences, turn you on, do I ever have the book for you. Schadenfreude much?
JK Rowling, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: Dear lord is this book long. Why? No doubt because the fans wanted it to be. But it is as gratuitously padded as any book I have ever read. It’s okay. But I wasn’t particularly impressed. Perhaps another six Quidditch matches would have helped ....
Adam Higginbotham, Midnight in Chernobyl: Thought the HBO miniseries was scary? It was tame. I mean: the Soviets, with their level of “technical prowess” and their industrial “quality control checks” ran the facility. Heck, Chernobyl wasn’t even their first disaster. Let’s just put it this way: the actual fuel piles in each of the FOUR Chernobyl reactors were so big that: 1) different sections had different characteristics, and didn’t all operate at the same rates or temperatures; and 2) the monitoring equipment couldn’t record how all of the pile was operating at any time. Happy now? Russia still has 10 Chernobyl-style reactors in operation. Enjoy your good night’s sleep everyone!
JK Rowling, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: Yes, yes: I know. This isn’t Order of the Phoenix. Well, I read Order of the Phoenix many years ago, and thought it was deeply annoying. A pile of words with little point. A way to keep the audience happy with long passages about very little.
Meanwhile, I, like my son, roared through Half-Blood Prince. A ripping good tale. Much tighter than the last several of the series.
JK Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: A fine read. A bit slow getting going: let’s go here! Let’s go there! Let’s recap the plot! But after the first 1/3 or so, the story got moving and I enjoyed it. Didn’t expect great literature; didn’t get great literature. But then again, I deeply appreciate how much pleasure my son got from this, and how excited my daughter is to engage with it. If it hadn’t been conceived and written, it seems like there’d be a Harry Potter sized hole in the universe.
Neil Gaiman, American Gods: In all honesty, I didn’t really like the first 2/3 of this book: too many tangents; too many sub-stories for the sake of sub-stories. And I’m still not sure I think it was a great book. But I really enjoyed the last third of it, and there were moments, vignettes, and sentences that truly blew me away. So I am glad I stayed with it.
Kameron Hurley, The Light Brigade: A sci fi story of soldiers apparently engaged in a war with Mars who are transported to the battlefield as beams of light. One gets unhinged from time. I am not sure it was worth the work, and I came to understand it was based on a short story and so, at times, it seemed a bit one-trick pony-ish. But it had its share of moments.
Daniel James Brown, The Boys in the Boat: A bit slow going at first, but it grows more compelling as it moved forward. This is the story of the 1936 crew (rowing) team at the University of Washington that went to Berlin and won the gold medal as Adolf Hitler watched. An interesting story about crew as a sport (about which I knew basically nothing), and life in Depression-era Washington state -- with a little, somewhat gratuitous, commentary about life in Nazi Germany layered in. One takeaway? The actor Hugh Laurie’s father was the lead oarsman on the British crew at Berlin in 1936. Hugh Laurie rowed crew at Cambridge as well.
James Corey, Nemesis Games: The next in the Expanse series. Much more enjoyable than the last one, but still a bit strained. One heck of a plot “twist.” A perfectly lovely way to relax; didn’t change my life. Some interesting character twists. But also a lot of “here are some giant developments (a lot of giant stuff) that give us lots of things to write about going forward!”
Alan Stern and David Grinspoon, Chasing New Horizons: the story of the New Horizons mission to Pluto. Interesting behind the scenes look at how the mission got funded, planned and implemented. Accessible in terms of the explanations; thick with bureaucratic story-telling and summary. It turns out this stuff is really, really hard. Interesting, but it didn’t blow me away.
And to end the year, I am reading: Christopher Moore, Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal: What if 13 year old Jesus had a buddy who, 2000 years later, wrote a gospel that filled in those missing years of Joshua’s (as Biff calls Jesus) life? Well, here’s your answer.
