Ya know how Paradox in Duel Links had a redemption but it was really subtle? Like, by the end of his event, he definitely understood he went too far in Bonds Beyond Time and he's no longer doing THAT anymore but otherwise, he's the same snarky yet determined bastard he is in the movie. His motive of preventing the apocalypse remains the same. He's just taking a more relaxed approach and he's also not weirdly chummy with the protags or team 5Ds. His reason for duelling Z-One during the Z-One event was wanting to see the future team 5Ds would create. It was completely separate and distinct from the other characters and was rather chill in general, since, to him, this is just him and his long time friend having a slight disagreement.

Yeah... that's one of my favourite kinds of villain redemptions. They don't always have to be friendly with the protags in the end, they can just be that one chill sassy quiet guy in the corner who speaks up only to roast ya.

PET HEADCANONS!!

Paradox has a cat named Mal- short for Malefic. She’s a mainecoon cat because I want one. She’s yellow-orange and has a bad attitude towards pretty much anyone except Paradox, his siblings (Jun & Ryoken- HC!!) and sporadic others. She’s also very spoiled and adored, and often gets lost despite the fact she hates going outside even for a single moment.

Vector in a modern au specifically would have a chow chow named Don Thousand. I perhaps am writing a fic with this concept but we’ll see if I ever finish it. Anyway, it’s the sweetest dog but literally GIANT with very fluffy dark brown fur and a red collar with a dangling bell and bow attached. I’m sorry I just love the idea of him having this huge dog that should by all accounts be a small breed. Love when dogs match the person too, so the brown is a little reddish even though it’s dark.

Can’t see many of the others having pets so I’m just going to list stupid ones below: (cw cursing)

Thomas - Some sort of stupid parrot who just repeats shit. I hate him. He teaches that bird to be awful to people and then it mimics his laugh for no reason so you just hear the two of them laughing at you at the exact same time. Horrible man and his horrible bird.

Reiji - A cat that just knows things. It’s a gray cat and also matches him really well. It just sits at his desk and STARES. Maybe Thomas gets it a mini pair of glasses just for fun and Ryoken ties a mini red scarf around its neck (me when I always manage to shoehorn my favorite ship in..)

Ryoken & Jun - Mal. They fucking love Mal so much even with her bad behavior. Maybe they had a pair of twin cats too that looked like them but with swapped personalities? Like a white cat who gets really pissy and a black cat who just vibes and walks around like he knows shit.

(Btw I HC them as twins- this isn’t me shipping Jun & Ryoken.. I’m too attached to them as siblings to ever do that..)

Antinomy & Placido - HEAR ME OUTTTT! These two would get a huge dog. Idc if you ship them or not but they’d accidentally find some dog abandoned together, get attached, and then be forced to co-parent because neither are fully willing to give the dog up to the other. Maybe a pitbull. Like one of the big gray ones who are just sweethearts even if they look intimidating.

Sherry - Doberman. Next question. No she does not do anything to its ears. She would never. I love her dearly. She probably names the dog something in French and won’t tell anyone what it means so they’re forced to spell it wrong into google translate later to find out. It has the exact same attitude as her. Also Roseknight for the win so it adores Aki and unintentionally wingman’s for Sherry.

Z-One - I can kind of see him being that sort of person who says “no. we’re not getting a pet. no.” then becomes hyper attached to it. Specifically Mal. She entrances him with her horrible l beady eyes and soft little paws. He goes really still sometimes and just won’t move while he’s thinking so she just naps on him. He won’t even feel her because she’s pretty light and does it on the more mechanical side. Paradox & co have so many pictures. He’s so embarrassed but they think it’s really cute and Mal is just too adorable.

Can’t think of any more right now but I might continue later. We’ll see.

All things blue

“Doctor?” Johnny called out from the corner of the control panel, looking anxiously around the Tardis. It was always rather empty here, but usually he wouldn’t notice thanks to Paradox’s commanding presence. 

His hands touched the old newspaper laying on top of the navigation screen. It’s been a good few months since he saw this one, but it looked as if it was just put down here. “Paradox?” He called out again, hearing a rumble of falling metal in the distance. He must have been fixing things, Johnny thought, smiling to himself, a deep sigh of relief coming out of him when he saw Paradox walk through the arc.

“Still in one piece?” Johnny leaned over the panel, propping himself on both arms. 

Paradox took off the glasses, eyebrows furrowed, a small wrinkle formed on his forehead. His hair was a mess, electric into all directions. “We just saw each other.”

“Well, for you.” Johnny spoke softly, this situation happened a lot and every time it started and ended the same. “I saw you last time in December.” 

“And today is?” He sneaked the newspaper right from below Johnny, searching through it for a date marker, glancing back at the man.

“March 6th, Paradox,” he pouted, almost laying down on the panel now. “It’s been months, if I didn’t know your parking habits, I wouldn’t be able to find you.” 

“No way.” Paradox put the glasses back on again and pressed a few buttons, squinting closely at the screens, maneuvering around Johnny. “At least it's the right year… right?”

“Well, you missed New Year with me, so it’s next year already.” Johnny followed him, trying to catch his hands, but Paradox was quick.

“I am so sorry, Johnny, we can go to… a few other New Years to make up for it.”

“No, I don’t want it like that, I want it all in a timely order, for me.” He crossed his arms, pretending to be upset. Whenever they missed an important holiday, Paradox would take him to see the alternatives of it around the Universe. And while these trips were nice, he still felt as if he was missing out on significant moments.

“It’s incredible after all this time of traveling with me, knowing I am a Time Lord, you try to make me obey the rules.” Paradox sighed in defeat and pulled the lever. Tardis murmurs signalled that they were now going through warp. “I promise I won’t miss next year.”

“Liar.” Johnny jumped in Paradox’s direction and swinged his arms around his neck, playfully leaning over the shoulder.

“Why would I lie?” Paradox put his hand above his hearts, full confidence in his voice. “I would never ever lie about this.”

“Then tell me when is New Year celebrated?” Johnny lightly petted his cheek. 

Paradox started sweating, he carefully took Johnny’s hands and kissed them, trying to avoid having to answer this question, hoping he would let it slide. He indeed did not remember when the human New Year was. 

“Johnny, darling, I will be there, you don’t have to worry about it.”

“Like I said, liar,” Johnny took his hands away, hiding them behind his back. “So what is the answer?”  

Paradox tried to make a run for a console computer, but Johnny was faster on his feet, immediately covering it with his body, “no google,” and then cautiously shook his finger at the Tardis, “and no telepathy either.” 

“I think it’s… February…” He raised his eyebrow, trying to read Johnny’s expression to understand if it was any close. “14th?”

“No!” Johnny chuckled, already prepared for Paradox’s failure. “Very close, very interesting choice but no.” He examined him closely. “Then tell me where I live?”

“Oh come on, don’t do this to me, Johnny, you move all the time.” Paradox grasped for air, clapping his hands together and then in frustration going through his hair: “Italy.”

“Italy where?”

“Restaurant.”

“I hate you, you old stupid man.” Johnny hit him repeatedly on the shoulder, tears in his eyes from trying not to choke on laughter. “Restaurant?”

“You are always at the restaurant when I come to pick you up, you must live there.” He tried to evade the hits, but it was in vain. “I never had time to study Earth geography thoroughly.”

“You are the worst.” Johnny sniffed, wiping away tears with corners of his sweater. “It’s too funny to be true.” He took a deep breath, finally calming down. The little bell rang, notifying them that they finally arrived. “So where do we go now?”

Paradox grinned from ear to ear, eager to see Johnny’s excited smile. “Let me cover your eyes first.” He picked the new place well and despite his sometimes poor memory, he put a lot of thought into it. He took out the satin blue ribbon, carefully putting it over Johnny’s eyes. “Now follow me.” Hand in hand, they stepped out of the Tardis.

ok ive been persuaded. woe, Paradox be upon ye. i have SOOOOOO many headcanons for this fucker (totally not projecting at all) for starters the glasses- we see him have a fucking monocle in Aporia's flashbacks but like.... glasses. i kinda just gave him MY glasses bc yk... whatever. his skin tone- i headcanon him as Chinese/German. the scars- we know he probably saw combat so it's a given, plus i like to headcanon that he survived Bonds Beyond Time (im so normal about him trust) the red mark under his eye is PROBABLY a scar??? question mark?? his hair is in a ponytail to keep it the FUCK out of his face while he plays card games on motorcycles and does science (basic lab safety plus long hair struggles), i made his eyes a more vibrant shade of green (they're supposed to be like... lcd screens since hes a robot), headcanon that his robot version is probably around 25-29 years old... 6'6 feet tall (or about 201.2 centimeters for my non Americans i see u)

headcanon him as pansexual, grey ace, and genderfluid

also headcanon that Paradox is not his real name (my version is named Pascal Liwei Klein and uses Paradox as a nickname or codename. it's probably his fucking gamer tag smh)

OKAY SO, I remembered something very funny that I need to share because I refuse to let it die

So basically, around the time Vrains was airing (I think), people started to meme on Lightning because he was basically the catalyst for most bad things in Vrains. So everyone started a trend of "Blame Lightning" for every bad thing that happened in Yugioh.

Like the whole thing with Domino City blowing up? Blame Lightning! Yami Yugi losing his memories? Blame Lightning!

This is like my in-joke that the first item in every one of The Stars Of Iliasters plans is to kill Jaden. Wanna end humanity? Kill Jaden. Card game getting too popular? Kill Jaden. Coffee machine in the break room broke? Kill Jaden.

Both these jokes are hilarious, because there’s exactly one person in canon who is responsible for 100% of the things that happen in all the yugioh shows, and that person is Seto Kaiba.

Rainbow Dragon

This card is one that had to grow on me a lot since the first time I saw it. It's 100% because of the name, of course. It feels like almost a lie to call something rainbow and then a mostly white dragon shows up. But, it does have its namesake rainbow crystals from its buddies the Crystal Beasts along its side, AND pure white light produces rainbows, so I can deal with the name a lot more now. Especially since I do like playing a Crystal Beast deck every now and then. The naming is almost a shame, especially because I really like how unique this design is. Not only does it have some feathered bird-like wings, but normal dragon ones too (you could probably count those yellow, fringe sorta things as a third pair of wings as well). I don't think I've ever seen a dragon design incorporate two fairly different wing styles like that (and it works so well? It's not weird to look at at all). I also love how much it looks like it's wearing a fancy, winged helmet. Like, there's no way I could really believe that that giant scale is a part of its head, even though it matches up so well with the rest of its body. Additionally, the multicolored, faceted, gem-like background is totally on point.

Rating: 9/10, I still think it could use more rainbow colors
