Saw the notes... got inspired by the silly! MK would absolutely be confused over the baby stone monkeys but also really think the little clones are cute. He uses the explanation Wukong had given him about the babies being clones of an old friend he'd kept preserved until they eventually morphed into a pair of actual baby monkeys to the Noodle Gang. Tang is of course, extremely excited to meet Savage and Rumble because these are basically Sun Wukong's kids and the mystery of who the baby clones original self was gets added to the cork boars alongside Wukong's baby daddy!

Macaque, jealous and feeling betrayed: WHO DID YOU HAVE A CHILD WITH!?

Wukong: You, idiot.

Ha yes! Was rambling in the notes here about the Penumbra au (with some SlowBoiled sprinkled in).

MK rambles about the babies to the rest of the gang (and theorizing thats why Monkey King needed a successor), and the while gang are "aww"-ing at the thought.

The adults have concerns.

Pigsy: "Wait, how old are they? What is he feeding them?" MK, thinking: "Uhhh super tiny-old? Monkey King said the shadows he preserved turned into newborn babies some weeks ago. He keeps them in his shirt so I don't know how he feeds them." Pigsy, concern growing: "He's probably on that island without proper food for himself..." Sandy, also concerned: "And there's a lot of good vitamins one can't get from just fruit and transformed hair. He'll need some ginger tea." Pigsy, already in the kitchen: "And some soup! Tangy! We need some fish heads!" Tang, nerding out: "Are we forgetting the huge fact that these are newborn Spiritual Monkeys!? We're talking like baby unicorns here! This is a major discovery!" Pigsy, handing him a list: "Just get me these ingredients and I'll forgive your tab!" Tang, diligently grabs list and shopping bags: "Okie dokie!" MK: "Eh? Why tea and soup?" Mei: "Odds are the Monkey King is the babies' only source of food." MK: "They're eating him?!" Mei: "Bruh. Boobs." -_- MK, embarrassed: "AH. My bad." >_<

So yeah Sun Wukong quickly gets the adults knocking on his door with big pots of soup and tea for him to take. He's touched by the gesture, but a little startled by how fast the gang were to appear on his doorstep.

So of course MK has to deal with wanting to become stronger faster (can't do certain training when the twins are in the way), and runs into Macaque.

MK takes one look at the black fur, red face marking, and shadowy powers, and thinks "omg! he might be the shadow babies' other dad/clone-original!!" - but holds the knowledge to himself for the moment.

Eventually MK gets a text from Mei during his additonal training, and she sends him an adorable photo of the twins. Macaque overhears.

Macaque, very serious: "Who are they?" MK: "Oh! It's just my friend Mei!" Macaque: "No. I mean the baby monkeys." MK: "Oh haha. Well... the big reason Monkey King can't train me as hard as he can is cus he's got... them." Macaque, grabs phone and glares at the photo: "WITH WHOM?!" MK: "Whoa! You're uh... kinda upset." Macaque: "Of course I'm upset! My former ma- friend had cubs without me!" MK, thinking Mac cannot be that dense: "Wut." Macaque: "What's their names?!" MK: "Zàoyīn and Bàoliè." Macaque: "He named them Rumble and Savage?!"

This of course leads to a confrontation where Macaque has drained MK's powers and is now knocking on Wukong's door demanding to know who fathered his twins.

Wukong: (*opens door with the twins tucked into a skin-to-skin top. Looks a bit sleep-deprived.*) Macaque: (*angry frown*) MK: (*waves nervously cus Macaque dragged him over*) Wukong: "Wondered when you'd get here." Macaque: "Let me see them." Wukong: "Say please. You're not setting a good example." Macaque, forces self to calm down: "Ok. Please let me see them." Wukong: "Thats better." (*Wukong loosens his shirt, letting the twins' heads to poke out. The twins stretch awake as Wukong kisses their heads. A pair of six-ears flutter like that of a kitten as one yawns loudly.*) Macaque: (*quiet. eyes glistening*) Wukong: "Plums, are you crying?" Macaque, trying to hide tears: "Who- who did you have them with!?" Wukong & MK: "Wut." "Seriously!?" Macaque: "They're too beautiful to be mine!" Wukong, sighing: "You literally left behind two shadow clones before you left the island. Shadows that I... had trouble letting go of. And I might have broken some rules of magic to keep them around." Macaque: "You... donated your dao to preserve them??" Wukong: "Yeah. I didn't want to like... lose all of you just yet. But about a few weeks ago they sort of collapsed into themselves and popped out like this." Macaque, doing math and suddenly blushes: "OH." MK: "What oh?" Macaque: "Shadow clones aren't like hair clones. They aren't extensions of the original's body, but rather their soul. When Wukong donated his dao to my shadows - we accidentally, uh... inmaculada." MK: "Omg I was right! You are their dad!" Macaque: "Ok yeah. Uh, here's your power back by the way." MK: "Wut." Macaque: "I had this whole revenge plan in the works but uh, knowing that these little guys are here, I just can't." Wukong: "Aww. Is that the only reason?" (*flutters eyelashes*) Macaque, still blushed: "And I uh... kinda am really touched that you couldn't let go of my shadows after all this time." Wukong, smugly smiling: "Knew it." Rumble & Savage: (*fully awake, now grabbing Macaque's face and chirping excitedly!*)

Macaque quickly turns from "edgy shadow version of Monkey King" to "super-adoring dad" once he meets the twins properly.

Rumble and Savage love having their Papa back.

Penumbra Shard - Penny to her friends, and Magistra Shard to her subordinates - is the effective leader of the Moon Mages, or at least the closest thing they have after the secretive cult of Lunar Ascendance was outed and convicted for treason against the Equestrian throne. Like everything else about the order, the hierarchy of the Moon Mages is shrouded in mystery, and much of what has been pried from the Mages through interrogation has been kept secret for one reason or another. At present all Moon Mages have been seized, sentenced, and transferred to the 38th Company fleet for service as combat sorcerers.

Penumbra herself is - probably - the oldest and most powerful of the Moon Mages. She claims to be 30"ish" years old, but this is confirmed as false. Surviving records of her presence date back more than 60 years, and it is suspected that she has significantly slowed or frozen her aging process, not just disguised it.

These records are disputed, however. Like all Moon Mages, there is physical evidence of her upbringing in ordinary Equestrian society, but no corroborating accounts. Penumbra claims to have attended and then taught at the Manehattan Institute of Magic, and was married to Ash Torchlight. None of her would-be peers remember her name or appearance, and her would-be husband disappeared without a trace roughly one year ago.

Penumbra Shard is a perfectly pleasant and ordinary mare at first glance, which sets her apart somewhat from the other Moon Mages. She is not prone to sociopathic dysfunction or violent outbursts and doesn't flinch at exposure to sunlight. She even has an affectionate motherly side toward ponies she feels close to. However, extended interaction inevitably reveals patterns of malicious and deceptive behavior as her facade of normalcy slowly falls apart. Penumbra lies often, and purposefully. She thinks of most other ponies as tiresome dregs she tolerates out of polite obligation, and has a cruel streak that emerges frequently in combat or when she thinks she can get away with harming a pony she dislikes. She is selfish and lecherous (a trifling problem when the subjects of her affection are willing, and a serious one when they're not), and eagerly manipulates others to her advantage or sometimes for her petty amusement.

Although a prolific liar and schemer, Penumbra is admittedly not the best at it. She has difficulty planning very far ahead and tends to react poorly when under stress. She also has great difficulty hiding her own emotions, particularly strong distaste or attraction for particular ponies. She could never stand to seduce or even feign mild affection for somepony she disliked, for example. On the other hoof, her desire for Lieutenant Dusk Blade is strong enough that it can easily impede her plans or cause sudden missteps because she's suddenly afraid of his disapproval or frustrated by his rejection.

Penumbra is not known for her temper, but when she does lose her cool her malevolent tendencies causes her to default to violent outbursts. More than once this has utterly ruined a greater plot or hurt somepony she nominally cares for. Despite these problems, Penumbra Shard finds it easier to forget her regrets than correct her behavior.

Like most Moon Mages, Penumbra Shard is largely untested in combat. The 38th Company Iron Warriors respect the power of sorcery but consider it an inferior tactical solution to their war machines, fortifications, and strategic bombardments. They also routinely underestimate the ponies of Equestria, and unlike certain other equines the Moon Mages do not resent being overlooked. Princess Luna, the Commander of the Lunar Guard, mistrusts the Moon Mages deeply, and as a result they've mostly been confined under Nightwatch tower training other combat mages.

When deployed to combat - assuming, of course, it is during the nighttime - Penumbra boasts a fantastic spread of useful spells: light-bending shadow barriers, freezing explosive bursts, and dark lightning that excites the pain nerves to such a degree that it can immobilize even an Ork through sheer agony. Her most useful spell, however, is the ebon vector.

The ebon vector generates multiple discrete "tendrils" of magic force that emerge from the ground or the body and act with semi-intelligent autonomy. They can bludgeon, twist, ensnare, pierce, or slice the enemy, adapting the exact point of contact as necessary for the task at hand. The tentacles are solid enough to block gunfire and strong enough to crush stone, and can adopt a solid "crystal" state capable of piercing or smashing stronger armored materials.

The spell even has non-combat utility, able to safely restrain creatures, lift objects Penumbra could not possibly move with her own strength, and even lift and propel her for the purposes of evasion or getting around an obstacle. She HATES doing it, though; evidently the magic tendrils are quite uncomfortable to have pressed against you, as numerous aliens and ponies can attest.

Penumbra doesn't seem especially discouraged by her imposed service to the 38th Company. The Nightmare failed. The rebellion was thwarted. Eternal Night is a grim myth, while enslavement and genocide at the hands of Orks is a constant threat. Her life as a battle thrall and magic drill instructor is a humiliation, but it's a more dignified fate than a long imprisonment in stone or in Canterlot's dungeons. And really, what other fate could she hope for from this war-torn world, with Equestria allied to Chaos and the Nightmare vanquished?

Penumbra Shard isn't telling.

Repostober 14 - Extra Life 2019

The big ridiculous scene that came out of fundraising for Extra Life, which I do along with my office every year. Mostly its peoples' DnD characters (including a few of mine) and a bunch of little sillier additions. This was the second, and final, of these huge scenes lol. I would make a big background and just leave a lot of space for placing characters, which people could pay to slot into. I would start drawing them on our annual stream, but it was obviously too big to finish in a couple-hour time slot, so the work would extend well into December, which was much less fun. Unfortunately none of my other art-related fundraising ideas have been as successful as this, but I just don't have it in me to do it again.

Beth is slow to read him. The supple current of his lips as he speaks as much as the subtle gesture of long fingers. The smoothness and ease of his smile and the light glittering in the depths of his gaze that is born from within rather than a mere trick of light. A bit of nervousness that needs to wrestle even his immaculate hair back into place in self-soothing. The way his gaze widens and takes in the scope of their surrounds, avoiding her face which she doesn't mind, makes less than casual observance feel less like an interrogation and more like what it is meant to be, conversation that gently flows. Today between brick and stone amidst newly unfurling leaves. Conversation that might be deeper than something that might be picked up in a bar or back alley. Easier to have when not beneath the shelter of the Mission, not because she doesn't want to include it as she would any part of their life, but because sometimes Beth has the weirdest feeling that regardless of whom she is visiting or why she's come...that they are being eaves dropped. She never really says anything because she has no concrete evidence and because even in the penumbra of their half-life, well...it would sound a little paranoid. Not a good look, really. There's truth in his words. She maybe half expects the body to shudder like some great wave threatening deluge though maybe the analogy in itself would be offensive if Steven were to traipse through her thoughts. Jake might be tickled at being called out but somehow she thinks there would be some kind of offense in Marc's restless spirit. Is he having one on them, then? Probably not. She doesn't really know how they interact when they're alone in their own company. The Unicorn chafes so briefly at his bonds that she might have missed it entirely were she not engrossed and she offers him a few moments of reprieve as she looks toward the gallery that contained the famous tapestry; the beloved tamed in its pen. Back in the day, Unicorn and her children were baited with virgins. She doesn't seem to have any interest in Beth's purity or lack there of these days. Maybe because she's Teanoi's kin, maybe because her heart stopped being pristine a long time ago. She cannot remember the last time she felt...whole. But none of this is really about her. None of it has anything to do with her feelings but only recognising Steven's and maybe half-curious if it is a systemic emotion, or separated by tenuous degrees of ideal and lived experience. For silly reasons based on their names, how about Fatal Error and Penumbra?

So Fate is a tech-reliant game tester (breaker, depending on who you ask), and Penumbra is a magic scholar. Pen isn't about the angry-pixie-eating "devil boxes", and whatever unorthodox thing that bat is doing to have a weird horn Fate is definitely not about.

It kinda devolves into an insulting match. xD

🥺👉👈 i have an AU where Sombra gets redeemed after Twilight Sparkle realizes she was being hypocritical by not giving him a chance and just blasting him into the void, and he ends up with Twilight after a while, and they have kids and there's other next gen kids in there too like Catastrophe (draconequus with the funny looking eyes) and Calamity (tan unicorn)

the two twi/bra kids are Penumbra (red horned unicorn, older sister) and Opalescence (gray unicorn)!

I dont know when I first read the comic "Find Yourself" but when I read it, it was very interesting and I loved the series I especially love Alice shes adorable in so many ways. Penumbra is a pretty cool character as well. Now i know many would wonder why I drew my two ocs, Sweet and Rose unexpectedly meet Alice and Penumbra here? well I just thought of the random idea of what would happen if suddenly they met. Especially Alice and Sweets Darker sides meeting too. I just thought it was interesting. Sweet and Rose's situation is complicated. Rose was the one who kept Sweet alive during when Sweet was a foal. Like a second conscious of somesort. How this is both Sweet AND Rose have no clue how this came to be, how this was possible. Its something many would be very skeptical about which can be understandable. I dont know entirely and exactly how these two would react with eachother especially if Alice suddenly encountered Sweet and hears Rose's voice, which Rose can CHOOSE whether they can hear her voice or not. Rose tends to let others hear her voice randomly but most cases would talk to sweet through the mind. So I can...probably guess it be a bit of a surprise to Alice that there is somepony whos sort of in the same position yet running their lives differently from start to now. I know I have changed Sweets backstory to where she isnt living so miserably in the forest most of her life but she does come to the forest alot here and there. Shes getting used to other ponies and trying to figure why Rose is in her body or how Rose came to be. I do have some ideas how it happened but its still a work in progress at the moment. Plus i aint spoiling it So just randomly drew this because hey why not XD Was planning on finishing it on his B Day as a B Day gift or something, just a little something but it was late due to the convention weekend at SacAnime and me being tired a bit so yeah -v-; I did my best doing the show style and so far im getting better. Was planning on doing a speed paint of this but little me forgot to do so :/ yep.
