what did you like about saltburn! and would you recommend it?

Ooh, I feel like my enjoyment of Saltburn was three-pronged: 1 and most importantly) Barry Keoghan being a weird little guy, 2) Pretty, 3) tight writing and left me thinking about it. It was just a genuinely good movie, it had been a while since I'd watched a movie that just felt like Art when I was done with it.

I absolutely do recommend it, with a little caveat. It's got some Weird Shit in it, so if you're a person who needs a heads up on the weird shit, I'd do a quick google for that and go from there. I went in completely blind and had a fantastic time with that. It's a horny black comedy and psychological thriller with tight writing, great cinematography, and attention to detail. 10/10 film in my books.

#i feel like if you're on tumblr and especially if you've been on tumblr for a significant amount of time the weird shit won't hit too insane #people on tiktok or whatever apparently really freaked out over One Scene but - while a What The Fuck moment - it's not *that* disturbing #i watched hannibal when i was 16 it takes a lot to truly shock me #i really appreciate how this *could* have been a horror movie and it is not #i keep thinking about a reddit post i saw #where the question was ''is saltburn disturbing''#and the response that showed on google was ''it is disturbing to anyone who isn't sick'' lmao #guess i'm just a sicko lol #also i love barry i'll watch anything he's in #but rosamund pike fucking devours her role and she's so funny #but anyway enough rambling in the tags #yes! loved it and do recommend if you're curious/interested in it!#saltburn #movie club

I actually do think the Huet-Villiers portrait of Mrs Q is likely the one that Austen saw and thought looked just like she imagined Jane, but it's ... hmm, interesting that the painting is used to justify various representations of Jane's beauty in adaptation even though the role is pretty much always given to thin women.
