I have a little Promare au that is mainly Acechiji and Zosan (qué puede que te interese @agreekdemigod)

For starters, Germa 66 is a government-allied company dedicated to studying the burnish and creating technology to counter burnish fire and to deal with and arrest the burnish.

Judge, obv, is still just a scum, he abused his children with the aim of making them burnish, an experiment to test their creation, the only one he failed with (or so he thinks) is Sanji, who he locked up with the helmet for 6 months until Zeff (who was the cook at Vinsmoke mansion, and who is not burnish) grabbed him and took him away with the help of Reiju and the brothers, who created a fire (to cover Sanji's just awakened fire) to help them escape and make Judge believe he had died or something like that.

After all, they know that having been marked as successful experiments, they have no way out. At least the experiments he performs on them are not as inhumane as those he performs on "criminals", none of which have cost them their lives. The experiments he does on his children focus more on the weaponry and chemical things they use to fight the Burnish.

Judge brings out the information that his home was attacked by burnish and that his third son is among the dead，that it was a miracle that he and his other children survived.

And he also turns them into a specialised squad to arrest especially dangerous/powerful Burnish. If some of the details look strange or unnecessary on the Vinsmoke's uniform, they are possibly the failsafes Judge put on his children's uniforms for emergency purposes, should they decide to reveal themselves or something, i.e. to better control them (under threat, at the very least), special, and rather painful, freeze dials will active and be injected in their bodies. Also their glasses and "headphones" have cameras and recording devices so Judge can more easily keep them under his thumb.

Sanji is raised by Zeff (who lost a leg due to his fire) and his restaurant becomes super popular, duh, and then he'll be frequented by the firefighter's rescue unit.

Among which are Zoro, Franky (mechanic), Nami, Usopp (mechanic), Luffy and Jinbe.

Zoro decided to become a firefighter to save lives after Kuina died in a burnish fire.

Luffy joined because his brothers are burnish and he knows what a person has to go through to become one, and then what it means to live as a burnish, so he wants to help other burnish, especially those who are just waking up, prevent them from being captured or escaping in solitude, things like that.

Ace and Sabo are the leaders of the "terrorist" group Mad Burnish, who burn things (without causing accidents, injuries, etc.) and rescue burnish.

Ace and Ichiji kind of develop a weird rivalry, but not really, the leaders of the mad burnish clash a lot with the Vinsmoke Siblings, and because of how they are, Ace and Ichiji tend to fight each other one on one a lot.

After a bad incident™, Ichiji goes temporarily away from home, farther than he usually does (he has a lake he likes to go to clear his head when the voice of the burnish gets to be too much or he simply wants to get away from home for a couple of hours) and he ends up meeting Ace, who's ready to fight, but he doesn't have his glasses or headphones on, nor is he on duty so Ichiji is like "not right now", but Ace is not taking it, they don't fiscally fight but their argument gets a tad heated and the anger frees some of Ichiji's flames, so the freeze dials in his clothes activate on response, Ichiji drops to the floor with a painful scream and Ace is like WTF yet immediately reacts to see snf try to help Ichiji, he ends up taking Ichiji to the closest hideout they have, where, after telling Sabo what happened, he gets help for the unconscious Vinsmoke.

Now, the bad incident™ in question is Zosan related, as in, the Vinsmoke's special team also responds and attends calls of people telling on burnish trying to live normal lives, and someone, reported the sous-chef of the increasingly popular restaurant Baratie, and Reiju was sent to check it out. Sanji had been having his usual flirt-argument with Zoro (who was there with his team) when Reiju arrived, being recognised and knowing what it meant for her to be there sent him into a panic attack that exposed his being burnish, and being on duty and under threat (not only her but her other brothers) Reiju jad to take Sanji with her, and then Zeff for trying to protect him and continuing on defending him even after she gave her an out.

Henry Emily and the tale of the Fredbear's Show Tape.

Eventually, the side Matthew was hoping for won out, and Henry knelt down to answer him.

“Hehe, alright, sure, if you guys want to hear it.” It was funny how easily he’d been convinced... but he may have just been dying for someone to ask him about the Springlocks. They were his most prized creations, so of course he’d be eager to discuss them. “It’s complicated but I’ll try to keep it as simple as possible. So, the process me and Bill have developed for this is rather interesting. First thing’s first, we write how the show’s gonna be. Everything that’ll be said and how it will be said. Then, we put what we write into a program that reads it and makes Freddy and Springbonnie speak. Now comes the tricky part. Behind the stage is where we the magic happens. William gets into either Fred or Spring, we plug `em with a few cables that are hooked up to a computer, and then Will starts acting. While plugged in, the suits are in what we call a Recording Mode. When that mode’s active, however William moves will be remembered and stored in the computer. There are sensors in the mask that know when your eyes are closed, and by how much, so that’s how those two are able to express. The jaw’s movement is also recorded-…”

It hadn’t taken Henry long to start rambling. Get the man to talk and he’d never stop, but Matt wasn’t protesting. Most of what he was saying flew right over Liz’s head- she was staring through her uncle like he wasn’t there, while Cassidy wasn’t doing much better. Evan understood some of it, but he was still struggling to comprehend all the information. Admittedly, it was a lot for him to wrap his head around. Charlie was following along alright, but from how she was watching her father, she’d have loved to be doing anything else. To Matthew however, Henry’s ramblings sounded awfully similar to motion capture.

Walt Disney had done it first with animatronics more than ten years ago, but still, Henry… He was so casual about having recreated literal motion capture!! And to a level that surpassed any existing technology in that niche field!

He’s way too nonchalant about his achievements. Like, man, don’t downplay what you’ve built- you’re so awesome for doing something like this, is what the boy wished he could’ve said.

To think that this was the in-universe explanation for why the next gen animatronics were less mobile than the Springlocks despite being newer…

“-Now, the voice lines are played over a speaker as Bill performs so he can react accordingly. It’s all done live, and it has to be in one take or we start from scratch. That’s the hard thing about it. There’s no room for mistakes if we want it done in a timely manner. Thankfully William is great at acting, so we don’t run into too many issues. He does his thing and I press the buttons. But anyway, once he’s done, he takes the suit off and does the same for the other one. At the end, we combine the audio with the movements, put them on a special tape, upload it in the suits and we’re golden. That’s all there is to a Fredbear’s Show Tape. Pretty rad, huh?”

If he'd had a red beer cup Henry would've been the perfect stereotypical uncle. The kind spotted only at backyard barbeques and awkward family gatherings.

The Lord of The Underworld and His Lady of Spring Part 1

In this story for the HPHM x Twisted Wonderland AU, Vil, Rook, Epel, Deuce, Ace, Asteria, Jamil, Kalim and Helena are talking about their recent performance at a competition and their shortcomings due to be tired from dealing with an overblot in the midst of it. However as things start to look for the better, even with Grim’s location unknown to the girls temporarily, they turn south faster than one could imagine.

Asteria belongs to @princess-of-pearls-and-stars while Helena belongs to me. These stories are Inspired by Chapters 8, 9, and 10 of Book 6

One minute, they were talking about their recent concert appearance and shortcomings. The next, Ramshackle shook in a way that Helena and Asteria were both convinced the old and archaic building was going to collapse. It had been abandoned for years after all and was a wreck when they first moved in.

Epel was the first to bring the suspicions everyone was thinking into words, “Was that an earthquake?”

Rook looked out the window in an attentive way just like a hunter, and his eyes widened when he found his target. “No it isn’t, look out the window.”

Kalim rushed over to the window and followed Rook’s eyes towards the sky with his own, “What in the world!? There’s a bunch of guys flying through the air! Are they on hoverboards.”

“Technology like that means it might be related to Ignihyde.” Asteria did her best to remain calm.

“I’ve been to Ignihyde many times to watch animes with Idia.” Helena reminded her sister, “And while I believe they have a handful of these hoverboard things, it’s certainly not that many. And those don’t even look like students.”

“That’s not possible…” Vil breathed, not really paying attention to the girl’s words it seemed not that it mattered all that much. “This school has a magical barrier to keep out intruders. And it is always up as long as we don’t have a special event going on.”

“Maybe that sound was the barrier getting breached!” Jamil theorized.

“But how?” Vil reminded him, “It is complex magic.”

“Some are coming this way!” Rook called out to alert the group, “Let’s see there is one, two-!?” He then did a 180 degree turn and faced the group, “EVERYONE GET DOWN!”

Large sounds followed as figures crashed into the structure of Ramshackle. Soon enough they were all on the floor trying to get cover. Helena barely even noticed Asteria’s protective arm around them.

“Asteria! Helena!” Deuce called out first, rushing over. “Are you both ok?”

“I-“ Helena was about to respond before she was silenced by the sight in front of her. There were at least three guard looking figures in some sort of technologically advanced armor. It was a metallic grey with a couple of its accents being a glowing blue. They appeared to be quite hostile and heartless, nothing like Ortho, well, at least when he wasn’t trying to shoot the school down with a laser beam to save Idia from a crazy ghost bride that is.

Once they regained their footing, Jamil jumped in front of his Housewarden, “Kalim get back!” He firmly instructed as he looked at the guards the same way Helena did. “I’ve never seen that kind of gear before…” He muttered to himself, although Helena could just barely hear his words and assumed others could as well to some extent.

“Hepta team coming in.” One of the mysterious intruders started, seemingly alerting their master of a discovery, “We’ve got visuals on subjects D, E, and G. Moving in for capture.”

“I haven’t the faintest idea who these people are.” Vil began as he tried to examine the guards from a distance, “but crashing through windows shows an appalling lack of manners.” He turned to the rest of the group with a firm expression, “I hereby declare this an emergency! By my authority as Pomefiore Housewarden, I authorize the use of magic on the intruders!”

“Oui!” Rook seconded as the vice housewarden.

“I do the same for Scarabia!” Kalim mustered in his most authoritative voice. “Prepare for battle!”

Vil’s eyes turned to Deuce, Ace, Epel, Asteria, and Helena, “Freshmen, stay back, and do not get involved for your own safety. Heartslabyul students, call your Housewarden!”

“Yes sir!” Deuce, Ace, Epel, and Helena said in unison, however Helena could see out of the corner of her eye that Asteria was frustrated by sitting on the sidelines. But surely she knew that their magic only seemed to work half the time in this world, right?

The same robotic guard spoke again, “Subjects D and E exhibiting hostility, Subject G showing signs of retreating. Requesting permission to engage.”

“Permission granted.” A voice over the robots intercom sounded. “Execute capture plan C”

“They’re all struggling…” Epel observed as the battle commenced.

“Those oar-looking staffs can churn out spells real quick!” Deuce pointed out with a great amount of perception.

“AUGH!” Vil exclaimed as said oar-looking staff-thing shot another intense concentration of magic.

“VIL!” Rook called out as Vil collapsed on the ground, and by the looks of it, also lost consciousness.

“Subject E is subdued.” The robotic guard sounded. “Securing now.”

“GAHHH!” Jamil screamed out as the same thing that happened to Vil moments ago occurred to him as well.

“JAMIL!” Kalim panicked.

“We have also secured Subject D, all that is left is Subject G.” The robotic guard informed its instructor or head of operations Helena theorized. “Tetra team has already captured Subject F.

Once the last capture is complete we will rendezvous then return to HQ.”

“Where are you taking them!” Kalim frantically requested, “WAIT!”

“Whoa…” Ace breathed, “The housewardens and vice housewardens went down in seconds.”

“And it’s not over yet…” Asteria pointed out, “They were talking about a Subject G, perhaps that’s Kalim or Rook? But why did they stop if that’s the case?”

“didn’t they say that ‘Subject G’ was retreating? If we assume it is someone in here then it has to be one of us.” Deuce determined.

“But who would that be?” Epel pondered.

“Heck if any of us know.” Helena snapped. “We should just stay low.”

“Tetra team has regrouped with Hepta Team.” The intruders sounded again.

“What in Tarnation!” Epel exclaimed again as he looked up, “They are hauling a cage. Wait… ain’t that…”

“LEMME OUT! GET ME OUT OF HERE!”

Helena and Asteria recognized the voice even before they saw who it came from. As they looked simultaneously through the rubble and dense amounts of people. They spotted Grim, being carried in a cage with tight bars as he attempted to escape his prison. How did he end up in such a predicament after the Shrouds helped with retrieving him earlier?

“GRIM!?” Asteria called out frantically.

“Ace! Asteria! Helena! Deuce!” Grim cried out.

“We need to stop them!” Epel got on his feet, “Come on, I ain’t doing this on my own am I?”

“Right!” Deuce agreed, “Hold on Grim! I’ll save you!”

“Dude, Vil just told us to stay back.” Ace tried to remind them, “Helena has a point you know, if we fight we will loose, we should just stay low, and come up with a plan when we can have, no offense, a stronger team?”

“Don’t be such a coward!” Asteria quickly got on her feet pulling out her wand, with Helena reluctantly following suit.

“OH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!” Ace pleaded, but presumed he had no choice.

Asteria noted how the battle was practically over before it started, and somehow ending up as the last to emerge in their line of fighters despite Ace and Helena’s initial reluctance. She couldn’t doubt that it was a disturbing sight to behold.

“Argh.” Ace mumbled mindlessly. “Didn’t stand… a chance… urgh.”

“Urgh guh…” Deuce moaned.

“Dagnabbit.” Epel muttered.

Yet the only voice Asteria didn’t manage to hear, even in a soft tone, was that of her own sister. Her eyes frantically scanned the room and eventually spotted her figure. And panicked when she saw her sister not moving.

“HELENA!” Asteria frantically called out, trying to rush to her but the robotic guards beat her to it, taking her sister.

“Subject G is secured.” The robotic man sounded, “Reporting Back to HQ.”

“Lemme Go!” Grim pleaded, “I don’t want to go! Asteria!!!” He called as his paw reached out to her.

“GRIM! HELENA!” Asteria called out, practically screaming as they were taken away.

“VIL! JAMIL!” Rook and Kalim did the same in nearly identical tones to Asteria.

Rook growled then did a few meditative breaths before turning to Scarabia’s Housewarden, “Kalim, we must tend to our injured freshmen. I will take them to the infirmary.”

“But Jamil…” Kalim stammered, “Jamil’s been…”

“KALIM.” Rook asserted to get his attention. “You must calm yourself. Jamil has been abducted. You need to step up and fulfill your Housewarden duties by yourself.”

Kalim only reluctantly sighed, however it seemed to be more out of concern for Jamil than the idea of added rightful responsibility, “All right, I’ll go summon the other house “wardens.”

Ace grunted again, “…didn’t pick up…”

Asteria rushed to Ace’s side, his mumbling did not sound promising, nor did his grunting. And he seemed to be wincing from pain.

“Huh?” Rook raised an eyebrow.

Ace attempted to speak again, wincing against the pain as Asteria looked at him with widened eyes trying to tend to him and Deuce the best she could, at least Epel seemed to be in a better state, although that wasn’t saying much. “Called…Housewarden Riddle…but he didn’t…pick up…”

“Oh no!” Kalim exclaimed as realization hit his features and he turned to Rook, “Do you think?”

“There is a likely chance.” Rook determined, “We don’t have much time, we must warn whoever we can.”

Belated Blorbsday, cause I just read the heartbreaking Kaori and Nix short scene. Why does Gram save Nix for the first time in that alley? How does their friendship develop to found family? 👀

I love this question because I love the friendship between Gram and Nix and the story of how they met is one of my favorite things I have ever written.

There's some backstory I need to explain in order to answer this question. Here comes another essay:

First I'll explain some of the events leading up to the moment Gram finds Nix in the alley. I'm still working out some details.

Kaori, at some point, makes contact with the Military and begins giving them information in order to undermine her father. They want Nix and she wants them to attack Syndicate headquarters so she can overthrow her father and his top leadership.

Kaori makes a deal to make sure the Military is able to capture Nix and they agree to attack Syndicate headquarters. Kaori's plan was to escape with Nix once her father and brother were dead and return after the Military's raid to take her father's place as clan leader, a position she believes should be hers.

But Nix stops her from killing Ryu and becomes severely injured in the process. She feels betrayed by him and so she leaves him behind.

Nix stumbles into an alley and that's where Gram finds him.

Now a little about Gram and his state of mind at this point:

Gram grew up with two childhood friends: Lucan and Alyssa (Aly). Lucan was adopted by a wealthy family in the capital, but remained friends with Gram and Aly. Aly and Gram fell in love and got married. But Aly struggled with health issues (I think I explained channeling sickness to you).

Gram joined the Military as a soldier, and eventually Lucan decided to work for the Military as a Researcher. He convinces Aly to come to the labs, hoping he can help her with her chronic illness. After initial testing with Lucan, she's assigned to another researcher and ability experiments are performed on her. She gets really sick and eventually dies.

Gram is devastated by her death and is in a pretty low place for a long time. He's sort of just returning to normal around the time of the Military's attack on the Syndicate. But he's really jaded toward the Military now. He has a strong sense of justice and is compassionate by personality anyway, and he's starting to notice more and more how their operations are often cruel and unjust. He's seen enough of the "Syndicate" to know that most of the people that fall under that umbrella are just normal citizens who have nothing to do with the conflict.

But as they ran through streets littered with the aftermath of battle, the smell of smoke hanging heavy in the air, frightened cries as ordinary citizens rushed to hide from the danger around them, Gram couldn’t help but question—not for the first time—whether this war were in fact pointless. There didn’t seem to be a right side in the conflict. The military wasn’t pursuing justice, peace, and a better life for all: Gram was certain of that much. The Syndicate never hesitated to attack military facilities, murdering soldiers to obtain weapons, technology, and information—so they were hardly innocent either. But this operation had been an attack on a town, homes, ordinary people. All to capture one kid that they intended to use as a weapon. Gram had a hard time seeing how anyone could call that justice.

And then he finds 17 year old Nix in that alley.

His squad recognizes that he’s the one they are after. They take him prisoner and treat his injuries. Gram is infuriated by the whole situation. The Syndicate turned a kid into a soldier, then left him behind to die or get captured. And no one in the Military leadership sees Nix as anything but a threat or a tool. 

There’s some dispute among the Military leadership about what to do with Nix, but once it’s finally decided that Nix will be handed over to the Research Division for experimentation (the Military really wants to figure out how to give people telepathy and Nix is the only telepath they know of) Gram loses it. Those experiments are, of course, a sore topic for him. 

“This isn’t about the prisoner,” Nolan told him, his voice quiet but firm. “This is about Alyssa.”

The words were like a slap in the face. Gram had lost his wife a few years prior. The grief was still like an ache in his chest that would never go away. She’d been his entire world, but that world was gone now, and everything that was left seemed a little dimmer, a little more gray.

It didn’t help that he had good reason to blame the military for her death. Gram couldn’t completely deny that there was truth in Nolan’s words. The thought of the researchers getting their hands on a kid not much younger than Aly had been when they’d tested her, made his stomach churn.

“Maybe you’re right, Nolan.” Gram’s voice turned quiet. The anguish of his own powerlessness clawed at his insides, threatened to tear him apart. It had been a long time since he’d felt this way. “There was nothing I could do when they took Aly. There was nothing I could do when she came back sick. There was nothing I could do knowing that she might never be the same. There was nothing I could do when I had to watch her die.”

Gram looked his friend and commanding officer in the eye, his gaze hard and stubborn.

“But there is something you can do, Nolan. You don’t have to stand here and watch this happen to someone else.”

But Nolan refuses to help. Gram decides he can’t sit by and let the Military experiment on Nix, so he breaks him out of prison and helps him escape. Mel and Nolan intervene to reduce Gram’s punishment to demotion. He’s essentially exiled from Military territory until he captures Nix and brings him back.

But instead of tacking Nix down to capture him, Gram tracks him down to try to help him, to try to keep the Military from capturing him again. He invites Nix to come live with him. Nix is reluctant at first, but eventually learns to trust Gram and stays with him. They develop a really close bond and would do just about anything for each other.

Dark Shadows (2012)

While I didn't enjoy this film, that doesn't mean you won't. No matter what I say, the people involved in this project did it: they actually made a movie. That's something to be applauded. With that established...

Dark Shadows shows promise at first, with tried-and-true but effective “fish out of water” humour. From there, the plot gets progressively unsure of where it wants to go, until it starts throwing stuff at the screen haphazardly. I don’t know if anyone could’ve salvaged a workable film from the woeful screenplay by Seth Grahame-Smith but director Tim Burton doesn’t seem to be trying very hard.

In 1760, Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) breaks the heart of his servant, Angelique (Eva Green). After she uses dark magic to kill Barnabas' fiancée (Bella Heathcote) she transform him into a vampire - so that he will outlive anyone he ever loves. Soon after, he is captured by villagers and buried "alive" in a coffin. Escaping from his prison in 1972, Barnabas finds his descendants in financial ruin, his beloved reincarnated as their new nanny (Bella Heathcote as Victoria), and Angelique still alive and still obsessed with him.

After the fact, it’s obvious Barnabas is the film’s main character. While watching, it isn’t so clear. You think Victoria will be a major player but she’s an afterthought with no personality. Most of the character feel like director Tim Burton self-indulging a little by tossing a bone to his favourite performers (Christopher Lee has a minor role which can’t have taken more than a day to shoot) or like inclusions put there just because they had an equivalent in the original 1966 television series. The film lasts nearly two hours. If you cut out Helena Bonham Carter as the Collins family doctor who does very little doctoring, the kinda-sorta misfit son David (Gully McGrath), his ne’er-do-well father (Johnny Lee Miller), the rebellious teenage daughter (Chloë Grace Moretz), the elderly maid (Ray Shirley) and the drunken groundskeeper (Jackie Earle Haley), you probably wouldn’t have more than 40-minutes’ worth of a movie. That’s not much but it’d be tighter, focussed and more enjoyable. None of these people have anything to do, and the less said about Alice Cooper’s cameo as himself, the better.

It feels like a bad soap opera that’s being made-up on the spot. Stuff just happens and sure, sometimes it’s funny but nothing’s building up to anything bigger. Now Dr. Hoffman is seducing Barnabas. Ok? Why? So we can cement that everyone finds Johnny Depp in vampire makeup irresistible? I guess that’s a thing but I don’t really get it.

Then, finally, a facsimile of a plot rears its ugly head. Ah! So the film is about Angelique and Barnabas’ rivalry. Wait. She waited 200 years for him to escape from the box she buried him in and in the meantime, she’s been using her fishing business to drive the Collins out of house and home? What a lame way to use your magic powers. It all builds to a lacklustre conclusion in which people are thrown around by magic. I think we’re supposed to feel upset about doomed romances and people caught between two irreconcilable worlds but so little time has been spent fleshing out the mushy stuff you just don’t care.

As an 18th-century vampire struggling to keep up with “modern” technology and sensibilities, Johnny Depp does well. He delivers all of the film’s best moments and yeah, some of it you’ve seen before but it’s still effective. The costumes, sets and art direction are also quite good so visually, Dark Shadows is pleasant to look at - especially when Eva Green is seducing Barnabas. Just about everything else is cringe-inducing and tone-deaf. Sexy as she may look, Green is terrible in this role and I can’t even blame her. No one shines thanks to the weak screenplay and scatterbrained direction torn between drama, horror and comedy. I nearly completely forgot about Michelle Pfeiffer, which is too bad because her character actually contributes something of value to the story.

The first time I saw Dark Shadows, I didn’t love it but found things to enjoy and gave it a mildly positive review. Re-examining it now, 3 stars seems way too generous. Although never awful, Dark Shadows doesn't give you many reasons to watch it. (April 5, 2019)

Do y'all know why CGI started being used so much in movies, or do y'all think that sometime in the early 2000s some dude with a computer was like "I'm gonna do dumb things!" Because most of the time I see discussions about CGI, it always seems like it's the second one.

CGI started being used in the 80s-ish to help perform tasks that could not be done with practical effects, or at least not easily. It also helped remove stop motion, since it was EXTREMELY difficult to match the frame rates, which resulted in a very stuttery mess of a scene.

As computer technology advanced, we started being able to perform more complex renders, eventually leading to scenes such as the opening shot of Star Wars 3, which is a CG one shot scene, which is EXTREMELY impressive. But you want to know the point that might make someone mad at me?

The MCU is an example of a franchise that benefits from using a lot of CGI. There are SO MANY elements that would take a lot of prep work and expensive camera angles to do practically, not to mention things like the Iron Man suit not actually being able to exist as a practical costume.
