you fell first. shinjiro fell harder.

you could tell from the day he rejoined sees that he wasn't all rough and tumble. especially if he was friends with akihiko. akihiko wouldn't be friends with an asshole.

you asked to hang out with shinji soon after, just a friendly excursion to get some fresh air and walk around! he tagged along, only on the condition you stop by the store to grab some groceries and a new bed for koromaru.

it was on that grocery run that his feelings started to develop, and when he finally got it through his thick head, it was the classic fanfictiony, italicised "oh" moment.

he would avoid you for a few days after that, not really knowing how to process his feelings or go about asking you out??? but eventually he just swallowed his pride, accepted it'd be super awkward, and went for it.

he asked you out on a beef bowl date. it was the only idea he had, unfortunately courtesy of akihiko, but he was so grateful you agreed.

shinjiro's a hard guy to crack, but you'd definitely be able to wear down that outer shell of his pretty quickly, considering you're his soft spot after all!

"The Monkey King and the Infant" details Part 3 - and likely last for now before I go on Spoiler lockdown so I can write:

The Jade Emperor sees/is aware of the canon Monkie Kid series. He thinks the whole situation as a big waste of time. So... remove Monkie Kid = no Monkie Kid series, Monkey King stays retired, and less of a headache for the big man up top. Win win.

The Jade Emperor shows Sun Wukong visions of the worst parts on the series inc; LBD's return, the Samadhi fire being reignited, The Jade Emperor's death and the potential breakdown of the universe etc... This is also how SW learns on accident that Macaque is alive again.

Internally SW is very conflicted cus... the universe might end? But more importantly he might actually die? But also consider; Free Son and a return to his beloved.

Other characters occassionally get tormented by visions of canon events/death omens - likely a side effect of the altered timeline, or the Jade Emperor subtly trying to turn them against one another.

Erlang and various other mythos characters show up. Erlang is tasked with ensuring that SW destroyed MK's egg, but is knocked out by Moksha (on command of Guanyin) to give SW a chance to reconsider. In the egg's place, Erlang found a "shell" of obsidian. This isn't enough to convince Erlang... but it's enough to convince the Jade Emperor and the few members of the Celestial Court who knew about the Egg that the task had been completed. Erlang is sussing SW hard for this... but wants to see what the big deal is with the undercooked Stone Monkey before he says anything.

Moksha is acting as Sun Wukong's parole officer as a "Sorry I bonked you" favor to Erlang. Shows up in glamour at Pigsy's as customer to keep an eye on things. Big shipper under her no-crap cop attitude.

Guanyin herself is Very Against the idea of scrambling MK (Mercy personified yo). But she doesn't appear physically, meaning that not even the Jade Emperor knows that she techincally betrayed Heaven.

Nicknames/familial titles MK calls his fam through out the story:

Sun Wukong = "Dad" "Baba" "Baba Wu" Macaque = "Mom" "Bama" "Baba Mihou" "Mama" (when he was really young) Pigsy = "Dadsy" "Pops" "Boss" (at work) Tang = "Papa Tang" "Pama" (verbal slip as a toddler that stuck) Sandy = "Shúshu/Uncle" Mei = "Meimei" " (little sister - techically she's older but the title is also a pun on her name) Nezha = "Tánggē" "Gege" (grew up thinking Nezha was an older cousin)

When it comes to finally training MK when he comes of age; Sun pulls a "Lego Batman and Bruce Wayne" - hoping that by separating the personas, he'll be able to reach MK better as a teacher. And MK 100% falls for it. Cus "The Monkey King" and his dorky "Dad" are two completely different guys! Right?

Macaque meanwhile has a very different style of teaching:

Macaque, in his series outfit, manifesting from the shadows: "MK, we need to talk about-" MK, battlemode: "AH! THE SIX EARED MACAQUE!" Macaque: "I'M LITERALLY YOUR OWN MOTHER! YOU PUT THAT STAFF DOWN THIS INSTANT MISTER!" MK: "yes sir"

This leads to a funny misunderstanding later on when he sees Macaque and The Monkey King interact during training:

MK: "Wait... if my mom is the Six Eared Macaque... and I've got Monkey King's powers..." MK: *"GASP!"* MK: "MOM!? Did you you cheat on Dad with The Monkey King!?" Macaque: "...really???" SW: *laughing his ass off*

"telltale" (death note spoilers) death note, lawlight. after L dies, light begins to have recurring nightmares about being in a sickly sweet domestic relationship with him. i wrote this on a plane.

"chatoyant" death note, lawlight also. fake dating where they start out mutually aware they're using each other for the investigation but then light loses his memories and thinks it's real, and L has to deal with that. i wrote most of THIS in a meeting at work!

It means I just read a fic about the Phantom Thieves being in the World Trade Center during 9/11 and even though it was crack it made me feel very uncomfortable so I'm going to delete any prompts that are similar to that in terms of tastelessness.

Otherwise dark fic is fine just make sure you label it Dead Dove when submitting.

Random Thoughts on Persona 5 Royal - Part 3

I've been thinking a lot about what it'd be like if I were a Phantom Thief. Perhaps I'll draw that sometime.

God damn, this game is long. I consider myself someone with pretty good JRPG stamina, but I'm about 103 hours into this game and I'm nowhere near the finish line. For reference, my Persona 4 Golden playthrough maxed out at 100 hours.

It took me far too long to notice that the letters on Caroline and Justine's hats spell out "oxymoron".

The Doraemon reference in the movie theater got a chuckle out of me.

I like the little quips from your party members while exploring Mementos. One of my favorites is Morgana complaining about the tiny school desks in the suggestion box.

Ryuji and Yusuke's Showtime attack is the funniest shit I've ever seen.

The fact that Futaba's All-Out Attack splash screen says "Git Gud" is pretty indicative of when this game initially released. If the game came out now, it'd probably say "Skill Issue" or something.

Haru's Phantom Thief costume is probably my favorite. Hats with feathers in them are guaranteed to look cool.

Add Futaba to the list of characters who desperately need a hug. I like the idea of someone willingly asking for their heart to be stolen. After all, the Phantom Thieves don't just beat the shit out of scumbags: they help those who can't help themselves.

I also like how Futaba's awakening is somewhat of a callback to Persona 4, as she awakens to her Persona by facing her Shadow directly (no face-bleeding required).

How is she so goddamn short (then again, I guess being a shut-in could've stunted her physical growth)

You can tell that I have some stuff to say about Futaba. Yusuke has some competition for favorite Phantom Thief.

Another Persona game, another awkward beach scene... (except for Yusuke's lobster gag, that amused me).

Shadow Okumura needs to speak up, man. It's like they lowered his volume compared to the other characters (which kind of makes sense with the space helmet he's got on, but still).

Unfortunately, I have been spoiled as to the Black Mask's true identity. I don't care how old this game is, tag your damn spoilers!

When I was in middle school, I went to a water park on a school field trip, and the county schools rented it out for the students. I thought that alone was magical. Imagine getting a whole Disney park rented out just for you and your homies.

With the death of President Okumura, and the tanking of public approval, the Phantom Thieves' resolve is starting to waver...

The sixth calling card is addressed to Sae Niijima. I can't wait to see how this story will unfold.

A Sou sprite was leaked. So. I have some thoughts about this.

YTTD Spoilers, of course. Read on for not only long walls of text, but as mentioned, SPOILERS.

Firstly, here’s the sprite:

The three intriguing things about this image:

• He isn’t wearing his scarf.

• He’s avoiding eye contact.

• His fists are clenched.

This pose looks like guilt, or pensiveness. Wanting to admit something, maybe apologise.

If there’s one thing that I want to cross off: I don’t think this is a flashback, despite how it looks to be.

I think most would assume this is a flashback based on the lack of the scarf, yet I disagree.

In fact, I believe it’s much more likely that this is a sprite for 3-2, where Sou undergoes character development. It’s understandable that his arc continues after the standstill in 3-1 (presumably due to Midori, Kanna’s passing, Midori’s passing AGAIN, etc…) in a way that balances the gray area of ‘logic vs emotion’ with his character - which as we know, the main theme of YTTD.

I think the best way to explain this is the theme of ‘truth vs lies’. Within all lies, there is a truth. Within all truth, there is a lie. A lie may eventually become a truth. A truth may eventually become a lie. The truth is seen as the truth if it’s fully believed to be the truth. A lie is seen as a lie if it’s fully believed to be a lie.

We can switch this to the terms of logic vs emotion. Within all emotion, there is logic. Something seen as logic may eventually become emotion. Something seen as emotion may eventually become logic. Logic is seen as logic if it’s believed to be logic, & vice versa.

We know Sou is a more emotional person by the second main game, but was originally seen as somebody villainous, calculating his every move to betray others; eg, the laptop scene. ‘Something seen as logic may become emotion’ is pretty much Shin in a nutshell.

“Now, how does this relate to the sprite?” The themes of the game. Logic vs emotion.

I’m going to refer specifically to the scene when the cast go to the fourth floor, when Sou tries to rebuild his image as a logical person before Keiji fucking punches him down metaphorically.

I think 3-1 was more highlighting Shin’s logical side again - rebuilding his persona after being idle. Him being idle was probably a mix of processing Midori’s presence, grieving over Kanna’s death, & not going into a mental breakdown & snapping at everybody. He recovered from the 3rd one, so he spoke up about ‘tag’ & whatnot.

So, in 3-2, it makes sense for Shin to show his emotional side again.

Or, to get to the point once & for all, apologise for his misdeeds.

& if not apologise, at least admit his wrongs.

I think the most likely situation for this sprite is for 1: Keiji puts him on the spot, or 2: he apologises by himself. Let me give an example for this -

Keiji: Sou… We can work together, but we need to get over our differences. You may see yourself in the right & is wrong, but you’ve done things as well.

Sou: *That one sprite that shows up in the gun scene* …

Keiji: …

Sou: *This sprite* …

Sara: (The atmosphere is tense..)

Then Sou can go either route. I want to see him admitting it, being emotive, though I can see him masking again.

But that doesn’t particularly explain the missing scarf, does it?

I’d like to assume there was a scene where he threw away his scarf.

Sou: I’m done… I’m done with being related to him. Relying on him……

Sou: I can survive by myself.

Sou: I have to.

Sou: For… For Kanna.

Or something of the sort.

Or maybe once he apologised, he threw it off. Then there was the tense silence. We’re only left to wonder.

So. TLDR: Sou goes through character development, admits he was wrong, joins with the other cast members & kicks ass.

So I thought doing an ask blog would be fun, and i decided to do persona 3 bc i'm genuinely obsessed rn. So this will be set in an au where Kotone and Makoto both exist but its not a twins au. P3 still takes place like normal and they both have the wildcard (if its too confusing just message me or dm me on discord at mimishit#2078 i can explain it .w.). Please don't be excessively horny, I get it's funny sometimes but these characters are in high school, it'd be pretty fucking weird to ask about kinky shit. tl;dr just dont be too nsfw.

2. Bigotry, harrasment, homophobia, racism, etc. will not be tolerated. I wont answer your questions end of discussion.

3. There will be spoilers for persona 3, I am assuming you have played through the game at least once. 4. If I don't answer right away please understand I have a life outside of tumblr (shocking) and might not be able to get to it right away. I'll answer these asks when I'm able to (which will be 9 times out of 10).

5. Don't harass me because I don't use your headcanons/preferred names for protags (people do this for some reason).
