How Important Is a Personal Vision?

When you dream, what do you dream about? If you let your mind wander, where does it go? If we stop, think and pay attention to these questions, they can make an incredible difference in our lives.They did in mine.

Part of my journey to become an Executive Coach was to consider what my personal vision was for the next five years. When I started to write my vision, I focused on what I could easily see. What I didn’t focus on was “why” I wanted to live that vision.

Coaching is about helping you see the “why” of your vision and digging deep enough with powerful questions to possibly help you define a different vision that what you believed was possible. I can recall having an ‘aha’ moment when I realized that my vision was not at all what I thought it was about.

 You might have thought your vision was to become better known as an industry expert in your field when in reality,  the “why” of your vision was that you have a passion for sharing your knowledge to help others gain expertise. When you dig deep enough, it becomes clear that you are more interested in being a mentor and sharing yourself with others rather than being known by others for your expertise.

No matter what your situation is, if you are determined to change your life and other people lives, you will find the ways. Whenever you have dreams bigger than you, having a purposeful life, a purpose bigger than you and a purpose difficult but not impossible THEN only you will add significance to life. I forgot to post that my kickass Beyond Science Fiction book came in yesterday. After seeing the original paintings last year, the high res scans, and color revision, and correction process was worth the wait. It's pretty accurate, and true to the works, besides the actual size limitations.
