8. Snowstorm + Din Djarin

Summary: You find yourself stranded in a cabin during a snowstorm with a Mandalorian.

“It doesn’t look like it’s gonna let up any time soon,” Din tells you as he stares out the window of the abandoned shelter you’d stumbled upon.

Thank Maker you’d found this shelter before the storm really picked up, you don’t think the two of you could have made your way out of the storm back to the Razor Crest in the conditions outside. 

“No kidding,” You reply as you come up behind him to stare at the blanket of white outside. You can feel the winds rattle the door and window frames ever so often. And with another gust, you wrap your arms around your middle and look around. “Guess we better get comfortable.”

You poke around to see what sort of provisions this little shack has. There’s a cot bed in the corner with blankets piled on top of it so at least you won’t freeze to death. You find a cupboard with a few ration packs tucked inside. 

“Well, we’re not going to die,” You tell Din as you raise the rations above your head.

When you pop back up you see Din crouched down in the other corner of the cabin, where the small fireplace is positioned. 

You move forward and watch as he builds a fire with the kindling beside the fireplace. 

He builds it up well enough, but can’t seem to get the paper to catch the spark from the flint he found amongst the fire-making supplies. 

You can tell he’s starting to get agitated. 

“Do you want to-” You start to ask.

The sudden woosh of his flamethrower cuts you off as he aims it directly at the pull of wood. The nicely built tent collapses as it bursts into flames.

“...use my lighter?” You finish as you stare at the now roaring fire.

“Sorry,” Din apologizes as he stands up and turns to face you.

“It’s alright, suppose we’re bound to get a little tense in this sort of situation. I certainly don’t love the feeling of being trapped somewhere,” You tell him with a sigh as you pull the collar of your snowsuit more tightly around your neck as you slump down on the cot, leaning back against the wall. 

“Well, it’s like you said, we’re not going to die here,” Din replies as he comes to sit next to you. “We just need to wait out the storm.”

“Then we can head back to the crest and get the hell off this stupid planet,” You grumble.

You both sit like that for a while in silence.

“You should take off your armor,” You finally say.

“Sorry,” You apologize quickly as he turns to look at you, his helmet tilted curiously. “I didn’t mean it like that, it just… you should get comfortable. And it’s not like anyone going to attack us.”

A mechanical hum comes through Din’s vocoder as his hands come up to unclip his pauldrons. And then his vambraces.

You suddenly feel like you’re spying on a private moment and quickly downcast your eyes to give Din a modicum of privacy as he takes off his armor. 

Once the pile of armor on the floor is complete your eyes flicker upward again and you see Din’s helmet already looking back at you from where he sits next to you, now just in his undershirt and pants.

You clear your throat awkwardly.

“Better?” You ask.

“Yeah.”

“Cool,” You reply as you nod awkwardly.

“With the fire, it’s warm enough you can probably take your snowsuit off too,” Din says. “For, y’know, comfort.”

You shoot him a look. You have a feeling his smirking at you under that stupid helmet. 

But you silently stand up and unzip your snowsuit, pulling your arms out before you shimmy it down your legs. You add it and your boots to Din’s pile.

“There,” You say as you wrap your arms around your chest and sit back down.

“Here,” Din says quietly as he wraps one of the blankets around your shoulders, the warmth from his arms and chest radiating off of him as he reaches around you.

“You’re warm,” You comment before you can think better of it. His arm freezes where it’s still draped across your shoulders.

“Sorry- I-” You begin to apologize again.

“Yeah?” He asks. “And are you still cold?” 

“A little,” You reply as you shrug. Before you realize what your response might mean. “Yeah.”

“Sharing body heat is important in situations like this,” Din’s voice replies slowly.

“Yeah,” You breathe out.

“You should lay down,” He gently instructs you.

You shift down from your sitting position to lay on your side as Din moves behind you, lying down next to you before he wraps his arm around your middle and pulls you against his broad, warm chest.

“Is this okay?” He finally asks.

“Very okay,” You reply contently.

Before you know it your eyes are fluttering close and you fall asleep as Din’s arm tightens around you.

And you swear he whispers something, but you’re already asleep before you can try to decipher what he’s said.

Chapter 1

“Right then,” She said with a satisfied smirk, “I believe everything is squared away.”

The man in front of her, Rupert Mannion, held a smile, something patronizing and sinister lurking beneath, “Pleasure doing business with you, my dear.”

“I’m sorry, but I do believe your fiance is the one who was doing business with me,” The raven haired woman responded, quickly turning to the much younger woman to his right and shaking her hand, “It’s been a pleasure, my darling. Do take care of that precious little girl of yours!”

And with that, the woman slung her bag over her shoulder, and spun around, her curly locks flipping over her shoulder, “Toodles!” she sang as she swayed out of the room.

“I can’t believe I just sold my own share of a football club to Talia fucking Forrest.” 

— One year Prior —

Normally, Natalia wasn’t a nervous person. Rather, she was the type of woman to make others nervous. Yet here she was, clicking her heels across the hard floor of AFC Richmond’s clubhouse, her heart hammering in her chest. Rebecca Welton had sold her some shares of AFC Richmond right after her divorce to royal dickhead, Rupert Manion, making her a minority owner of the club; and as much as Natalia loved football and Rebecca, she was nervous about running into someone in particular. 

Her wavy black hair fluffed out around her face, her thick black sunglasses hiding her green eyes. She glanced around her as she made her way towards Rebecca’s office, the hallways buzzing with excitement and gawking glances as she would pass. God, can this walk take any longer, she thought as she ascended the stairs to Ms. Welton’s office, Finally. With a deep breath, Natalia gripped the handle and walked in, offering a small knock as she opened the door. As she opened the door to her office she was greeted with a seemingly very flustered Rebecca in a plush robe, an always frazzled Higgins, and a face she hadn’t yet seen before. Rebecca stepped to the side and lit up when Natalia entered. “God your tits are amazing,” Natalia blurted, eyes going directly to Rebecca’s chest. The gentlemen both cleared their throats and seemed to look anywhere but her chest. “Right, sorry.” “Talia Forrest,” Natalia introduced, reaching out her sharply manicured hand out to the stranger, “minority owner, semi-successful child star turned rock enthusiast and entrepreneur, pleasure.” “Well hi there, I’m Ted Lasso, fresh face on this side o’ the pond,” the man named Ted greeted, his American accent startled Natalia for a moment. The warmth of his voice melting right into her heart creating a soft comfort to her. “Rebecca, you smuggled an American over here?” Talia laughed, a light jab at the two of them. Rebecca laughed nervously, eyes shifting toward the men and back to Talia. “I’m fucking with you, love,” Natalia soothed, “But I do think it’s high time for you chaps to be off, toodles!” She ushered the men out of the door, closing it behind them.

“So,” Natalia sighed, flopping back into the cushions, arms draping over the back of the couch, “I guess this is what all my money has gone to. This gorgeous office and this wardrobe?”

Rebecca’s cheeks flooded with embarrassed blush fiddling with the rack of terribly expensive gowns. Natalia clicked her tongue and got up from her spot on the couch and walked over to Rebecca. She reached up and held onto Rebecca’s face. “You look at me, you tall, strong, impeccable woman,” Natalia said sternly, “You are fit and worthy, these dresses are bloody well lucky to be hugging that gorgeous body of yours. Now let's find the one, yeah?” Rebecca let out a shaky breath and nodded her head, “Thank you.” She whispered, before shaking it off and standing a bit straighter. “Do you want a drink, love?” Natalia asked, making herself comfortable at the minibar in Rebecca’s office. 

“A glass of wine, please,” Rebecca nodded, holding onto a golden dress. After pouring herself a whiskey, she handed the wine glass over to Rebecca. “That’s a gorgeous gown, but she’s wearing you, love. We can do better than that, yeah?” “God, why is this so difficult?” Rebecca sighed, a soft whine underneath. “Honestly, woman,” Natalia groaned, rolling her head back. “You’re right, I’m sorry– It’s just–” Rebecca rambled, “It’s just that Rupert–” Natalia got up from her spot after slamming her drink, and stomped her way towards the taller blonde woman.

“Rupert is a right slimy cock, Rebecca. It’s about time you knew it,” Talia said forcefully. “You no longer get to let him dictate your life. This is your event, and you deserve to be the goddess that you are.” She began to shift through the dresses on her own. “Here,” Natalia said matter of fact, “This one will blow everyone away, plus it shows off those sexy arms of yours.” 

Rebecca held the gown up to her, admiring the fabric. A sigh of relief and an emptying of a wine glass, and Rebecca seemed to be a whole new woman. A curt nod and she placed the dress in a garment bag. “Right,” Rebecca smiled, “I actually called you here to ask if you would like to be my plus one to the charity gala tonight?” Natalia growled, flinging her head back in exasperation, “Rebecca, you know I don’t–” “Please, Nat,” Rebecca begged, “It’s for the children…” Nat curled an eyebrow and crossed her arms, “Rebecca…” “Nat, this is my first time doing this without Rupert, and I’m just so bloody nervous! Plus, you’ve been a minority owner, it’s about time you show your face around here.” “You know I don’t fuck with the press,” Nat responded firmly, her brows furrowed deep over her eyes. She softened after a moment, “But… I will go to support another incredible woman.” Rebecca’s eyes lit up and she squeezed the smaller woman into a head-popping hug. “Thank you,” Rebecca sighed. “Suppose I need to pick a dress for the night, then,” Natalia quipped while shooting her a pointed look.

Cameras. So many fucking cameras were flashing, Natalia hated it. She stepped out of the car behind Rebecca, leaving her big sunglasses on. Her hair was styled to look even more wild than natural. She wore a forest green off-the-shoulder gown with a slit up the skirt that went all the way up to her hip. Her tattoos and scattering of freckles covered her pale skin. She made her way towards the red carpet, following Rebecca. As she made her way toward the line for photographs, Natalia was shouldered rather hard by another person walking by. “Oi–” “Watch it!” The two voices barked in unison. Green eyes locked with brown. Natalia could have sworn her heart leaped into her throat and then directly plummeted into her lower belly. The man that towered before her, straightened up a little more. His all black suit caused him to look even larger than he was. “Hi, Roy.”

i started writing Take Care purely because of the lack of roy fics on AO3 and tumblr, and i needed to feed myself as much as you all too !!

i have read the majority of roy fics on AO3 and notable mentions go to Banter by @peterpparkrr and Nothing New by @steves-on-a-plane (both of which are ongoing and have been recently updated!)

i have very much enjoyed eating all these up in between writing myself so thank you to these authors for the delicious food!

6. Christmas party + Roy Kent

Summary: You’re the 2 sober people at the work Christmas party.

“You’re not drinking,” You comment as you wander over to where Roy Kent is leaning against the bar, his standard beer bottle noticeably absent from his hand, instead replaced by a water.

He grunts in response.

“Don’t tell me you’re pregnant,” You tease.

“You’re not drinking either,” Roy comments as he gestures down at the Ginger Ale in your own hand. “Something you want to tell me?”

You shrug as you smirk back at him.

“My niece tricked me into doing a dry December,” He tells you with a sigh.

“Isn’t it supposed to be dry January?” You ask as your brow furrows.

“Ask Pheobe,” Roy grumbles.

“I’ll have to.”

“You’re not actually pregnant are you?” Roy suddenly asks. 

“No,” You reply with a giggle. “I’m babysitting Keely and Rebecca. They just enable each other when they drink together so I'm trying to rein them in.”

“The owner and social media manager of the club being flight risks does not fill me with confidence about the organization,” Roy comment as he sees Rebecca and Keely shouting the words to “Santa Baby” at each other while laughing uncontrollably.

“But a coach who’s in the palm of his eight-year-old niece is normal?” You tease as you raise an eyebrow at him. While he just glares back at you you shake your head. “I’m kidding, I happen to think it’s adorable.”

“Team solicitor’s gotta watch out for liability,” You add. “And if I’m going to get messy I’ll do it when I’m not on the clock.”

“Good to know,” Roy replies.

“You know what?” You say. “I think Ted’s more than capable of making sure Rebecca and Keely get home safe, what do you say we go get a drink not in the same room as our bosses? I’ll even order you a Shirley Temple and pretend it’s for me.”

Roy glances at you but nods. “Sure.” 

“Can you get our coats? I’ll say our goodbyes and meet you at the door in 10,” You tell him as you glance around. “Ehh, fifteen since Ted’s had a few.”

Roy nodded again as you set off to say goodnight to your coworkers.

“Finally asked out the lovely lawyer did ya?” An unmistakable southern twang asks as Roy turns around to see Ted grinning at him.

“Ted,” Roy greets him.

“Two people, who are mutually attracted to each other, going to get a late night drink at a second, more private and romantic location even though neither of them are drinking tonight, right, right,” Ted rambles off.

“Ted,” Roy sighs.

“A lady asking you to get a drink is an invitation on a date,” Ted reiterates.

“Ted! Roy and I are about to head out, can you make sure Rebecca and Keely get home alright?”

“Of course! You two lovebirds have fun!” Ted replies before shooting off to find Coach Beard, leaving you and Roy standing there.

“Wow,” You mutter.

“Ted doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” Roy grounds out as he turns to look at you.

“He doesn’t?” You ask in surprise. “Are we not… Isn’t getting a drink…?”

“Is it a date?” Roy asks.
