– E’ mai stata felice?

The Reflecting Skin (1990, d. Philip Ridley)
I didn't include any images of the angel fetus because that seemed crass somehow. But there's an angel fetus.

Re/Reading a book from my childhood: Scribbleboy by Philip Ridley.
I found Ridley’s books inspiring when I was younger because they are zany and they feel unstructured. The chapters are short and do not have line breaks, so they feel like notes or journal entries. The larger than life characters feel like recognizable people, but with certain exaggerated characteristics that make them bolder. In the case of our protagonist, Bailey, it feels very much like the…

Got this for my birthday (26 on New Year's Eve baby) but it arrived earlier than I expected. He basically plays a cynical and self-destructive artist who is also an arsonist, who despises everything except his boyfriend who is an actor and a optimistic sweetheart 🧐
(I read Leaves of Glass aswell but I'm not talking about that one because I know some of you are seeing it in January 👀)

Does anyone remember reading this?
I read Scribbleboy in 1997 or 1998, it was the first book I read the whole way through by myself, and I always remembered how good it was.
This year, my Cousin (9yo with Autism, like his big cousin) is really excited about reading, because his reading level has improved, so I got him this book for Christmas.
I hope he enjoys it as much as I did, and I hope it ignites a love of books in him, like it did in me

I just don't know about this one. It's like somebody tried to blend 3 shots of Blue Velvet, 1 shot of 8 1/2, and 1 shot of Days of Heaven to make the Superfilm.
I'm not really into it, but it certainly has a'pop quality to it... I mean you're not going to forget it.
Also has a 32-yr-old Viggo Mortensen in it, who looks pretty much the same as in the Lord of the Rings films to me.

Books acquired, 26 May 2023
I brought a box of old books to my spot; I did not intend to pick up any books but then I picked up six:
I’d been looking for a handsome and/or cheap copy of Aldous Huxley’s The Devils of Loudon for a few years ago; success.
I posted something on Twitter a few days ago about how much I’ve been enjoying Steve Erickson’s Days Between Stations; one of the replies put James Crumley in his company…
