I saw like few times someone says Philip could not be the one who made the portal door. Someone says, if he actually made it so why he didn't made another one? Why he didn't try to get the key the first time he and Luz met? Lets say it was all for the plot propouses because there is something you can't deny. The door opens in the Wittebros house. The fucking exit of the portal is their old house. The exact place Philip wanted to return to. Noone except him would make this door lead to the exit of this house. Noone else could make this portal. It was his way to home

Soooo.... Curses are stand-in for mental illness? And Philip literally has a curse? Is this different kind of curse? Yes. Was he responsible for cursing himself? Also yes. But does this curse implies to be stand-in for mental illness as much as Eda's? Totally yes. He is mentally ill person. His actions cannot be justified by this fact, but he actually is. He pretends his illness is another kind, to justify himself, but it doesn't mean, he is mentally healthy

I might have posted about this before, but the fact that The Owl House consistently uses curses as a stand-in for mental illness really just makes Belos trying to justify his actions by pretending he had been cursed more scummy.

A lot of Phillip's character has to do with his pride. He believes he is greater than the witches and demons of the boiling isle. He views himself as a savoir and god-like figure and in the end it gets him killed.

Jonah Magnus/Elias Bouchard

This man found out about the Fears, spent a good amount of time researching and studying them, started to follow the Eye and was told by literally all of his peers to FUCKING STOP WHAT ARE YOU DOING and still decided to become immortal by implanting his eyes into other people. Then he saw how every ritual was failing and went "ok yeah but I can do it better" and then played the long game for 200 years and then actually succeeded in bringing about the apocalypse. Only to essentially be completely taken over by the Eye leaving him completely powerless in himself and unaware of what was going on and either not realize or realize too late that the entire time he was being manipulated by the Web.

Do you remember this moment in Hollow Mind when Philip says "this thing was a thorn in my side for years" about palismen monster? Why everybody do think this "years" was about his whole life? Like do you really expect the most powerfull person on the Boiling Isles be so helpless? Couldn't he do this already by himself? Maybe even a few times? It makes no sense, if he never tried this option or, if tried, never succeed. He is a fucking genius, he invented quantum physics, two teenagers couldn't be his only solution. He had 400 years to find out, how to manage this problem. So I think he actually did eliminate palismen monsters few times, and then, as he ate more palismen, new monster appeared. The one we saw in the show was just the last one
