when ur girlfriend tells u to come over so she can "rearrange ur guts" but ur a manananggal and she's a med student 💀✂️
twitter
[Image Description: A drawing depicting a med student studying her manananggal girlfriend's intestines, which are laid out on layers of tarp and plastic sheets. The whole piece is in warm shades of yellow, orange, and brown.
The student has books, notes, and a box of used bloody gloves to her left. Her gloved right hand is placed on the thigh of the manananggal's detached lower body, with one leg casually crossed over each other. Intestines and stylized blood pour from the latter's pelvis, staining her jean shorts red.
The manananggal's upper body and wings rest against a pillow and a drawer. She is scowling and looking slightly peeved at her phone.  Next to her is a water bottle and a plate of street food, with an uneaten stick of dugo. /end ID]

Being a manananggal is nothing more than a mild inconvenience in this day and age ! The manananggal is a mythical creature in the Philippines that separates from their lower part of its body and their fangs and wings give it a vampire-like appearance.

Bella
(no fandoms in particular,~5.1k words, and not proofread)
Bella is the life of the fiesta. Everyone agrees that no party, fiesta, or occasion that involves the whole town will be incomplete without Bella.
"Tayo na, Ate!" Bella whines, sitting on top of the bed inside Lily, her friend's room. As per their tradition, she always made sure she can bring her friend, Lily along. Lily makes feel safe and besides, they know each other for so long, its as if they're sisters.
"Aiya, Bella. Sabi ko nga hindi ako sasama diba?" Lily answers, looking at her from the chair she was sitting on. Bella pouts as she looks pass through Lily and to her mirror.
"Please, palagi mo akong sinasamahan." She pouts. Lily sighs once more and places her hands on top of her stomach. This went on for the next 30 minutes, Bella pouting and begging, even going as far crying and rolling on the floor. Lily just sighs and slowly gets up, one hand supporting her back and the other on her stomach.
"Get up. " She simply answers before giving out her hand. Bella looks up from the floor and accepts her help. Lily gets a handkerchief, lying around and gives it to her, "Wipe your tears. Your face is a mess from crying and you ruined your dress. Fine, I'll accompany you—"
"Salamat, Lily. Tayo na, tayo na!" Bella says excitingly, fixing her clothes and hair in front of the mirror. Lily smiles softly before she reminds her,
"But, I'll be home by evening, okay? You'll have accompany back too!"
"Fair naman, ate."
Lily smiles before pushing Bella outside the door of her room, "Dress up nicely!" She says as she reaches the end of the room.
"Will do. "
The door closes between them.
Bella is the life of the festival, her friend knows for sure.
Its the peak of the festival when the two arrive to the town. Visiting houses of people they know, they enjoy themselves and eat the food while happily talking about things. Bella's energy keeps the festivities from house to house going as she tells children and adults alike stories and sings songs in the kareoke.
"Bella, you're amazing at this!" One of the men who cheers for her says, the whole group of people agreeing. She smiles at them, says her thanks and continues on singing for the crowd. More hollering, cheers, and shouts were for her to listen as she continues to sing along. Most people say the same thing about her and her amazing voice. How it sounds like calming, running water, how soft yet powerful it is, and how comforting it is for people to listen.
By the late afternoon, Bella and Lily leaves the house to go for the next one.
"Wait!" One of the men says, he looks average but, the confidence he has comes a long way for him. The two women stop to look at him.
"Something wrong?" Lily asks him. He looks at her and then to Bella before he opens his mouth,
"Sa'an kayo pupunta? Sasamahan ko kayong dalawa."
"Bakit namin sasabihin?" Bella answers, grabbing Lily's hand. He then continues to talk, where he'll be going next , and offers that maybe he can accompany them if they're going on the same route.
"Sige. Parehas naman tayong pupuntahan, naman. " Bella concludes, opening the gate. Lily looks at her, as if to say, are you stupid? We just met the guy! "Gaga ka ba?" She whispers to Bella, scolding her and lightly smacking her back. Bella looks up to her in shock and laughs, "Baka naman. "
They laugh before walking outside of the house, the guy following behind them. On the way to the next home, they decide to talk to each other, trying to get to know the other. From what Bella collects, she now knows several things about him:
His name is Jesse. He's around 21, just 3 years younger compare to Bella.
He goes to a different place for college and only visits when needed.
He likes birds and knows plenty.
He looks very average but she guesses it's the confidence but that carries him.
They continue to walk, only stopping for a few minutes for Lily to catch her breath before arriving to the next house they're visiting.
"Oh, andito na kayo. Goodbye, Miss Bella. Goodbye din, Miss Lily. " Jesse says before he leaves the women. The women smile and said their goodbyes.
"Maginoo siya, ha. " Lily comments, they are already inside the house of a friend Bella knows. Bella nods her head, "Oo nga. Super respectful din. Din man sobrang gwapo. " She laughs and Lily nods before she continues to eat the food she chose.
"Kung ako sayo, wag mo nang i-let go."
Bella bursts out laughing before they continue to eat their meal, Lily got up and went for seconds before leaving the table to talk to some guests. Bella gets up after and the whole crowd looks back at her, she smiles before she got the nearest microphone and sings acapella.
With music or not, Bella finds a way to entertain everyone.
The whole crowd of people cheers her on as loud music from a far play loudly, some people got up and dance. Some were singing to the songs playing and others drink their beers before they join along. Soon enough, the whole crowd was lively, dancing, singing, and having the time of their lives.
"Pupunta ka mamaya sa disco?" One of the people ask. Bella smiles before nodding, "Aba, ako pa! Pupunta kaya ako. Hindi 'to fiesta kung wala ako!" She says before laughing. The people laughs alongside her before they continue to party. Once things have died down, Lily and Bella said goodbye to the owner of the house and left.
They visit one more house nearby. Eating food, talking with the people, loud singing, and lively conversations fill the room as everyone is enjoying themselves. Before the women know, its already sundown.
"We have to go now, thank you so much!" Bella says to the owner of the house.
"Why are you two going so soon?" The owner asks. Bella looks to Lily, who's eyes start to feel heavy but her hands still are place in her stomach. She yawns for a while and smiles softly, "Thank you but, I'm getting tired now. It's very unsafe at night lalo na para sa akin at sa baby ko. Bella being the good friend of mine, promises to help me go home, right Bella?" She excuses.
"Tama po ang sabi ni Lily. Sasamahan ko siya pauwi. "
The owner nods their head and sends them off. Bags of food in hand from the houses they've visited, they walk the way back home. The sunset provides enough light for them to walk the way home, their pace a little bit slower compared to when they left. Before the night sky appears, the two manage to reach Lily's home.
"Kaya mo na?" Bella asks Lily as they reach the front gate. She nods her head and looks at the direction of the light shining inside,
"Oo, kaya ko naman. Don't worry too much. Oh sige na, papasok na ko."
"Sige."
Lily opens the gate and walks inside the house before Bella calls out for her. She looks back and tilts her head,
"Alam ba ng boyfriend mo kung saan tayo pumunta?" Bella asks. Lily nods her head and waves goodbye. Bella waits for a while outside until she sees her reach the door and knock. She knows her friend will be safe.
Smiling to herself, she went to the disco in the center of town. Even if she hasn't reach the center, she can hear the music loud and clear. It blares through the evening sky as the loud noise passes through her body. She loves times like this, it is the perfect place to meet new people, afterall.
She continues to walk faster until she reaches the center, the music is on full blast and the lights dance around. Large speakers blare out music as she sees groups of people dancing. Some alone, or with others but all feels the same. They are enjoying themselves. Bella looks up to the night sky and joins the crowd.
She dances with people, with groups, and herself until she couldn't feel her legs much longer. People who know her cheer her own as she keeps on dancing, her body matching the tempo of the song, her movements are like the flow of water, and her energy is through the roof.
Bella feels her utmost self during times like these. It feels like she leaves her worries behind as she dances along to the beat of the sound.
As the night goes on, people come and go. Bella's energy never wavers but only gets stronger and stronger. Dancing, singing, talking with everyone she sees even making eye contact with certain people in the crowd. She keeps on going this until gets tired and walks the way home.
"Miss! Miss!" She hears someone yell behind her as she walks the way home. Curious, she looks behind her to see a man running towards her. The dark makes it hard for her to see but from what she could tell the voice was of man's and from the silhouette, she could tell that the person calling for her had a tall height compared to others and had a lean body.
She stops for the person to approach her, she picks up several pieces of rock to defend herself with in case the worst things happen.
"Ano?" She asks out loud. The person approaches him and pants, catching up his breath. He looks up to her and hands her hat. In the enjoyment and fun, she didn't realized her hat fell.
"Your hat, nahulog po, miss. " He says. Bella says her thanks and puts her hat back on.
"Miss, pupunta ka din diyan po?" He asks her and she looks up from her hat and continues to walk. He follows along behind her,
"You won't be safe alone here at night."
"I can take care of myself. "
Bella walks, picking up the pace to get away from the person but can still see him following right behind her. You're either one of two things: One, Being sincere enough. Two, Have a different plan in mind. She thought to herself.
"Ano ba? Bakit mo ako sinusundan?" She snaps at him. He stops at his direction, looking at her in shock.
"Ako? Sinusundan kita?" He says accusingly, "Baka ikaw kaya sumusunod sa akin. "
"Hindi ha! Pauwi na ko pagkatapos mo ibigay ang hat ko!"
"Eh by the looks of it, parehas tayo direksyon!"
She didn't respond to him and slowly walks away, then picks up her pace once more. A drop from the sky, then another, and then a pour of rain descends from fhe sky. She curses at the rain before running. In the panic, she accidentally misses a step and falls down.
Hissing from the pain, she gets up and continues walking, struggling from the pain. Her speed is much more slower that the man caught up behind her and in shock, she raises her hand and slaps her face. He yells in pain and holds his hand towards his redden face. It stings him but he continues to hold his cheek.
" You fucking scared me!" She exclaims but his eyes only looks at her scrapped knees, lightly bleeding. The rain gets stronger as they stood in front of each other.
"Miss, alam ko we didn't go on the right foot but please, since parang malapit ang mga bahay natin. Ihahatid na lang kita. "
Bella is a little hesitant but she nods her head and they walk beside each other on the way home. Exchanging comments about things, talking, and having moments of silence. Soon, they manage to get to the street where Bella is from, she shuffles around to find her keys to open the door.
"Dito ka lang muna, para ang lakas ng ulan. Baka, pagkatapos na ang ulan, pwede ka na umuwi? In fact, ako naman yung hahatid sa iyo. " Bella offers, taking her shoes off and turning on the lights to her room. They shake their heads before she insists, much more assertive this time. They nod their head before taking their shoes off.
Bella walks into the room, making the man following her. The room was simple and quiet, a small living room, a simple kitchen, and a second floor. She looks for a towel and throws it at their direction. Their reflexes are fast and catches it.
"Maligo ko na. May cr diya. " She says, pointing at one of the doors. He nods and goes inside the bathroom to take a shower. Bella sighs before she looks for a first aid kit and attends to her wounds. Hissing in pain, she rubs it with alcohol and places a band-aid on top.
She goes upstairs and gets a random pair of clothes to offer to the guy. The bathroom door opens and runs down the stairs. She sees them outside the bathroom, the towel wrapped around his waist.
"Here. Clothes. I know it probably wouldn't fit but, it's better than nothing at all?" She offers and hands them over.
"Ernest. " They say before closing the door. The man's name is Ernest. Bella took note and goes back upstairs to take a shower and change into comfortable clothes. In a while, Ernest sits down in the couch, the towel hung outside the house and enjoy the moment of silence. Bella comes downstairs and sits besides him,
"Type mo?"
Ernest looks at her and blushes at her question before trying to think about what his type is. "Maganda—" He answers before he gets cut off by Bella,
"I'm sorry. Blood type pala. "
"O. "
Bella nods and they talk through the night, laughing, singing, and exchanging stories between each other. Soon enough, they are both sleepy. Ernest insists to sleep on the couch and Bella retreats back to her room.
In the middle of night, when she makes sure Ernest fell asleep. She smirks before she mutters something beneath her breath and transforms. Her beautiful and human face turns into a monster , her eyes turns black, and her beautiful face was no more. She walks out of the room, her footsteps invisible to anyone listening and stays at the last step, before reaching the bottom floor.
Her long, inhuman tongue reaches his neck, making a small incision only big enough for her tongue and she begins to suck the blood and life out of him. The feeding lasts for hours before the first few lights of sunshine breaks through, letting go of his husky, dead body, she goes back upstairs. Closing the windows and not letting light enters, she slowly turns back into human. Her monstrous face turn back into her more well known human.
Leaving her room, she sees the dead corpse of Ernest, the man she only met a few hours ago.
"Pity. " She says, as she gets him off the couch he died upon. No signs of fighting back was found or anything major that can be pointed back to her. "I can't eat this, maybe my friend can but, your blood was lovely." She says, getting a trash bag and places his dead body inside.
She wouldn't feed on men for the next month or so but, searching for new victims will do.
Bella always love meeting new people. As she says, "Humans can't always be lonely. " Visiting the marketplace for her needs, she interacts with new and old people she sees. Talking to them, making small talk, and getting what she needs. The festivities slowly die down as the weeks go by and as people go back to their normal lives. On the way home, she meets a familiar acquaintance.
"Bella! Andyan ka pala. " She hears a voice. Turning back, she sees...Joseph? It's been a while so she walks up to him and waves.
"Oh? Ikaw na ba yan? Ang tagal na tayo hindi nagkita! Kamusta buhay sa labas ng bansa?" She asks as she walks the way back home.
"Okay naman, mahirap pero makakaya. " He answers, following behind her. They exchange conversations until she reaches her house. Shuffling for her keys, she invites him inside for a more proper chat inside.
"Matanong lang, Bella. " He says, sitting on one of the chairs in the kitchen. Bella turns her back on him as she prepares them a hot cup of coffee and some bread.
"Ano?" She asks, opening a drawer to get two mugs and coffee powder. She opens the packets and puts them on the mug.
"Single ka ba?"
"Oo, bakit?"
"Nagtatanong lang. " He says, trying to change the subject. The hot water is ready so she pours it on the mug, the aroma of the coffee surrounding the room. She stirs them with a spoon before getting some bread in a plate and offering it as a snack.
Their talk lasts for hours until he leaves her house. She makes a mental note to herself to bring him over next week. She's getting hungry after all. Ernest was a few weeks ago that gives her enough energy to make it through the month. As the week goes by, she goes on with her life, making her house is clean, cooking enough for herself, socializing, and the occasional visits to Lily.
"Punta ka sa akin, next week?" She offers during one of her visits to Lily. She looks up from what she was doing and asks why. Bella tells her that her old acquaintance, Joseph arrives from abroad and asks him to hang out in her house. Lily thinks to herself for a moment, it wasn't a bad idea , she just has to be careful.
"Fine. When next week?" She answers,
"Friday. Matutulog din ka sa bahay kung okay lang. "
"It's fine really. "
They continue to have a small talk before nightfall comes and Bella goes back home. In the next days, she and Joseph start to hangout and get to know each other. She doesn't forget to remind him about Friday next week. If she is honest, she likes the guy. He's tolerable, a little aloof sure but, he's tolerable enough.
"Type mo?" He asks in between laughs. They finished watching a movie on the television. She looks up and tries to catch her breath.
"Yung mamahalin ako ng panghabang-buhay. Ikaw?"
"Umm...Type O ang blood ko. "
She smiles and bursts out laughing, "Yung type mo sa babae, gago!" Embarassed, he looks away from her and calms himself down after the embarrassment he has done. They continue to talk before he goes home.
Bella loves learning new things about people she knows.
Friday in her house never felt louder. The television blaring, the sweet smell of food being cook fills the air of the kitchen to the living room. Lily is in the kitchen, preparing for dinner with Bella helping beside her. They soon finish the cooking and start to prepare for dinner. The dinner between the three went well, exchanging conversation with each other and enjoying the meal.
"You cook well. " Bella compliments before taking another bite. Lily nods and they continue to eat in silence, the only noise being heard is the clashing of the utensils. After dinner, the plates were wash and they all sat down in the living room, watching the news and whatever is in the tv that interests them.
Joseph yawns, stretching, "Ang busog ko. Matutulog na ako, thank you pala sa pagkain, Lily. Goodnight. "
Bella looks back at him, "Goodnight!" He walks to one of the extra rooms the house provides. Bella and Lily were alone in the living room. A few hours have pass and Lily came outside of the room. She looks to the sala and sees Bella sitting on the couch.
Her long proboscis-like tongue stretches further to the room where Joseph was sleeping in. Her huge wings softly batting. Lily took notice and slowly opens the door to Joseph's room.
"Go inside and do it properly. " She remarks, holding her belly with both of her hands, protecting it. Bella looks at her direction and flies to the open door, closing the door behind her.
He never made it out of the room the next morning, whileas Bella left his room healthy and fresh, looking younger. Lily slowly makes her way to the living room and helps clean up last night's incident before leaving.
For the next week, everything went silence but she couldn't help listen once in a while to what the people have said.
"Patay na si Ernest. " She hears one of the neighbors in her street. The other in shock asks why but neither they can give a proper answer and blame his mysterious death on an aswang lurking. Soon enough, the rumors spreads like wildfire. Rumors on Ernest and Joseph's deaths spread, possible leads on what caused the death, or better yet, who was the aswang that killed them. For the next two weeks, Bella leaves the house for the next town over as she hears a festival is happening.
She does what she often does, sing with the crowd, socialize , and dance. In the climax of her dance, she makes it seem like her hat has fallen off. As usual, her plans work just as she needs them to be. The morning after soon approaches over Bella and the now deceased corpse in a bed.
"You provided me with enough. " She whispers before getting out of the bed and packing her things before going back to her home. Once she arrives, she couldn't help but hear the rumors of the people getting louder. In the marketplace is where the rumors are the most loudest. Everywhere she went she could hear similar things.
"May tao naman pinatay ng aswang sa malapit." She hears one says as she buys some vegetables.
"Parang hindi aswang ang pumapatay." Another counters, "Kay diba kung aswang, alam natin agad? Pero yung sa namatay hindi."
"Edi ano?" One more person comments, the one prior shakes their head.
"Baka vampire..." One of the other people said, several nod their heads while the others shake theirs and begin arguing with themselves.
"Sa palagay mo," Someone asks her, "Aswang ba or lamok ang pumatay sa kanila?"
"Hindi ko din alam, baka lamok?" She answers. She continues to hear the rumors pass around and until she gets home safely. She fixes things around before having the urge to visit Lily. From the date in the calendar, it's already November 2.
Grabbing her keys and closing the door behind her, she goes to Lily's house which is further away than hers. The huge banana plantation provides occupation for several people she knew. Knocking at the gate, she sees Val, Lily's boyfriend who opens the gate and asks why she's here. From Bella's perspective, he looks drained and exhausted. His eyes feels like it could fall off but manage to keep his straight face and leads her inside.
"Pasensya na kung hindi nakabisita si Lily. " He says as he steps inside the house. She smiles and takes her shoes off, "It's fine, wala naman ako sa bahay two weeks ago. Bago lang ako nakabalik. Nasaan siya ba?"
He points to their room upstairs. The door is close and she goes up the stairs. He gives her one last reminder before leaving the house. She knocks at the door.
"Sino?" She hears a voice on the other side.
"Si Bella." She answers. There's a moment of silence before the voice allows her inside the door. The room is simple, a huge window with curtains, a closet on the other side of the room, and a small vanity on the side.
Lily is lying down on the bed, her head leaning against the wall, supported by a pillow. In her arms is what seems to be something— or someone bundled up.
"Ah, " She says, tiredly. "Andito ka na pala. " Bella awkwardly laughs and waves. Lily laughs, albeit a little painfully as she adjusts herself while holding the bundle close. She sighs as she feels more comfortable.
"We need to talk. " Lily says in a stern tone. Bella stops and looks at her before sitting on top of her bed, confused, she laughs,
"What do we even need to talk about? Congratulations on having your baby, is it a boy or a girl?"
"A girl. Her name is Rosaline." Lily answers, having a soft smile on her face. Though exhausted, she feels at peace knowing her little rose finally arrived but now the little peace will be disturbed. She offers her to take a look, Bella approaches and sees her. The little baby wrapped in clean clothes looks up at her. She looks exactly like Lily with the exception of her eyes that were similar to Val's.
"Cute baby. Hello. " She whispers softly. Lily nods and holds her close to her. Her eyes seem to wonder around, as if she's searching for something. The small moment of cuteness is quickly interrupted by Lily clearing her throat.
"Have you heard the rumors said?" She asks her. Bella nods her head and looks away.
"Good. You know, they're about you, right?" She presses on further. Bella shifts, her fingers tapping against the wall she was leaning against, trying not to look at Lily in the eyes. She laughs nervously,
"How could you say that?"
Lily gives her an annoyed look, glaring at her up and down. She scowls,
"Don't play dumb with me, Bella. You know well those were targeted towards you. What if someone catches you?"
"Don't tell me, Lily that you're believing what rumors say. That's so out of character. "
"Rumors?" She says, laughing before going back to serious, "It wouldn't be rumors if I saw it myself. That night with Joseph and the one before ...what's his name?"
"Ernest. His name was Ernest. "
"Ernest and now, the man in the next town. Bella, alam mo ba ang ginagawa mo?"
"Oo! Alam ko!"
"Kung alam mo ang ginagawa mo. You should be more careful. Mandurugo ka, hindi bata. Alam mo kung makikita ng tao ang ginagawa mo, papatayin ka. "
That cause Bella to snap and raise her voice, " OO NGA! ALAM KO. Parang nanay magsalita! Alam mo, why can't you just have faith na magagawa ko ang ginagawa ko!"
Lily sighs, "I know you can do it. You're just being reckless. If you get caught, who knows what will happen then after. So please, Bella for your safety. "
Bella rolls her eyes, she came to see Lily , not get scolded. The two continue to fight, throwing words back at each other for hours.
"Maybe if you planned things out—" Lily counters before she was interrupted by a loud cry. Looking down, she sees Rosaline. She looks angry and annoyed, her hands clenching into little fists as she looks up at her mother. Lily raises a finger and points at the door.
"Get out. " She says. Bella rolls her eyes and stays in place, "No."
"I hate repeating myself to people who don't listen so, Get out of my house. Now. "
Bella storms out the door, slamming it close behind her. Lily can hear their heavy footsteps as she reaches downstairs and the slamming of the front door once more. She sighs before looking at Rosaline who is already screaming from hunger. Lily apologizes to her and fulfills her daughter's need.
The next few months fly by slowly. She couldn't find much men at the time and had to be careful, like what Lily said. Lately, she has been talking to Jesse, the guy she met in the festival last September. As time flies, the cold December passes to the new year, she starts to be close to him. Talking, laughing, and just enjoying each other's presence. The more she hangs around him, her thirst for blood seems to get stronger. Those old blood in her freezer are running out and a new fresh supply is needed for her to survive.
"I'll be going to the city tomorrow. " Jesse says one day, its already late into the evening as they finish things up. Bella looks up and nods.
"Do you wanna come by my place? Have dinner?" She asks.
"Kung date ito, no thank you. I'm not interested. "
"Just see it as a meal between two friends and a sleepover, y'know to send you off. "
"Are you a child? Sige, only this own time okay? And then no more. "
"No more. "
They soon seperate ways only to see each other in Bella's home. A nice dinner was prepared as they talked, discussing about plans they have for themselves in the future. The night passes by fast as they play around, tell stories, and ramble about things.
"Goodnight. " Jesse says to her, opening the door to the guess room Bella said he'll be staying in for the night. She says the same and goes upstairs. Jesse closes the door behind him, opening his bag, he brings out a knife he had just in case. He heard about the rumors spread, of course he did. The knife is with him for his safety.
Jesse couldn't sleep that night. No matter how many toss and turns he does, he couldn't. He stops counting sheep at some point. Then, he hears it. The faint sound of footsteps, then the flapping of wings, and the sound of the door being opened. Grabbing the knife that's laid on the side table, he hides under the blanket and then door opens.
Staying as still as he can and trying to not make as much noise, he feels weight on his chest, it wasn't heavy like the thing has placed it's whole weight on him but it was more of half. From beneath the blanket, he sees the creature open its mouth and a proboscis-like tongue came out. It slithers to him and he hears a small noise. Looking to his side, he sees the tongue on his neck. It created two puncture marks and is slowly drinking the blood.
He didn't waste a moment further, taking the blanket off, he sees the mandurugo with his own eyes.
Why does it look so familiar?
He didn't care and stabs it, he screams as the blood splashes on his face but he didn't bother and does it again. The screams of the monster rings out throughout the room until complete utter silence. He sighs heavily, the adrenaline dying down. He wipes the blood off his face with the blanket. Looking up the clock, he sees the time.
3:25 AM.
He looks at the deceased body laid in front of him. The body has several deep cuts in it and the face slowly starts to reassemble a human.
Covering it with a blanket and taking it outside, he digs a deep hole and tosses several things below it before the body. As he lowers the body down, he decides to take a look.
Its Bella. She is the mandurugo.
He stays there in a moment of shock before tossing the body in the pit and covering it up.
For being the life of the fiestas she went to, Bella also knows how to drain them too.

A/N: The second short story of the aswang short stories is out! Compared to my mother, this is quite longer and took more time to research. Sadly, this will be the last appearance of Lily and Rosaline (and by extend, Bella. I'm gonna miss them in the series, especially Lily and Rosaline 🙁) in the short stories series until I start rambling my research once the series is done.
Bella's story is a retelling (and based with heavy inspiration) on the story of "the girl with many loves". It also involves a mandurugo, four men, and the fourth man killing the mandurugo.
I'll try to improve things. You can leave some feedback so long as its not insulting , I'd love to read it. Hope you enjoy this read.
The translations will be out soon!

Kontra: Against Evil
Support Our Kickstarter!
Terror lives! I'm pleased as hell to announce that Kontra: Against Evil, the new manga that I'm working on as an editor, is already 85 percent funded on @kickstarter! From its conception by friend and author N.P. Alfaro, I knew that Kontra would be something special. And looks like I was correct and audiences are loving it! Not only is it a folk horror story with stunning art and writing, but its setting of the Philippines during the early 1900s (along with the creatures from Pinoy folklore) are uniquely adapted by this creative team.I believe there is a massive need for stories about and by different cultures across the world, and it is an honor to be involved in this project. If you believe in this mission of diversity in storytelling as well, there is a link to Kontra's crowdfunding campaign here! And of course, shares are always welcome!

Tambanokano [Philippine mythology; Mindanao/Mandaya myths]
In the native religion of Mindanao and Mandaya (in the Philippines), the moon and the sun are somewhat important characters (or, rather, personifications of the moon and the sun). The moon was married to the sun, but her husband was angry and prone to outbursts of rage. One day, for reasons that are unknown to me, the sun became particularly mad at the moon. The moon ran away with all her might, but the sun gave chase and pursued her relentlessly. At times, the moon grew tired and slowed down, nearly allowing her pursuer to catch up with her. But he never reached her, because every time he comes close to catching his wife, the moon starts running again. And the two of them are still running, sometimes coming close to one another but never touching. And that is why the sun and the moon move across the sky.
In better times, though, the moon and the sun had children together. Among them was a magical creature, shaped like a man but glowing like a star. But the sun got angry and murdered his own son before horribly cutting the corpse up in hundreds of little bits. He then spread the tiny little bits across the night sky, where they are still glowing, just as the son did when he was whole. And that is why you can see stars at night.
Not all offspring of the sun and the moon were slain, however. One of them is named Tambanokano, and to this day he still resides in the depths of the ocean. Tambanokano is a humongous crab with power over lightning: every time the creature opens and closes his eyes, a bolt of lightning flashes in the sky. Tambanokano unfortunately inherited his father’s temper and he, too, is often angry at the poor moon. It happened several times that he becomes enraged at his mother and rises up, trying to devour the moon alive. But the people saw this and left their homes, beating gongs and shouting at the crab until the creature becomes scared of the noise and retreats to his oceanic home. And that is why the moon still exists. (Note: it is believed that this story refers to a lunar eclipse!)
Tambanokano’s dwelling is a huge hole somewhere in the ocean floor. When he is there, the ocean stands high. But sometimes he leaves his dwelling, and the water rushes into the cave, after which it becomes low tide. The movement this titanic creature makes as it wanders about the ocean floor causes waves to appear on the surface of the sea. When the crab re-enters his home, he pushes the water up again. And that is why the ocean has high and low tides.

Welcome to the my arsenal of OCs Little Fatima!
This is Fatima Dela Cruz a very outdoorsy Manananggal (vampire version in the Philippines)
She prefers a more fruity diet than people you never know where that human has been!
