Narrator Blurb (Comfort/Fluff)
Dedicated to YaBoi <3 (I know you never asked for anything but I'm still grateful for that donation so yea :3)
He stared for a moment, heart sinking as he saw you crying. Quietly, he drew you into his arms, gently shushing you and running his fingers through your hair as he guided you into leaning on his chest. You could feel the material of his dark grey button-up shift against your cheek as he curled his shoulders around you protectively, shielding you from the world.
"Darling, it's alright... I'm here for you. And if I can help it, I'll never allow that to happen to you again, ok...?"
He gently hooked his index finger under your chin, to guide your head up so you could see the sincerity in his golden eyes. His thumb gently brushed over your cheek, wiping away the trail of tears with tenderness.
"I'm here, whenever you need me. Always. And I'll do whatever I can to help you feel better, ok? So... Let's go get you bundled up in some nice soft blankets, and if you want, I'll read you your favorite book until you fall asleep. How does that sound?"
He smiled gently, shadowy skin crinkling at the corners of his eyes at the movement, as he moved his other hand to gently wipe at the tears on your other cheek, eventually settling into cupping your face between his hands gently, leaning in for a brief moment to place a quick but tender kiss on your forehead.
"Or I can kill them for you," he joked, "but I doubt you actually want that, haha." His eyes glanced to the side and down, the smile fading slightly. "It does make me upset to know you were treated that way, though. I wish I could do more for you, darling. I hope this is enough..."
He trailed off as he curled himself around you a bit more, holding you close and burying his face in your hair, sighing softly as he carefully walked the two of you over to the couch, gently scooping you sideways into his lap for cuddles and flicking a fuzzy blanket around your shoulders.
"Just... please know, that you are always loved. I'll be here for you, as long as you want me by your side."

haven't seen this on here yet so:
in case you don't want to slog through the shitscape that is the bird/letter website, take a peek beneath the cut (shamelessly copied from the something awful forums dungeon meshi thread)
- Her first memory of video games was watching her father playing Wizardry on Famicom, also Dragon Quest, Ultima, and Fire Emblem among others.
- She was a difficult child so her parents didn't let her play. Wizardry is a boring game to watch, but the monster illustrations on the walkthrough evoked her imagination and made her keep watching.
- She only started becoming a serious gamer after the serialization of Dungeon Meshi was locked, for research purposes. Before that, she read fantasy novels such as The Neverending Story (Michael Ende) and The Lord of the Rings (JRR Tolkien).
- The international title for Dungeon Meshi: Delicious in Dungeons was decided by her editor.
- D&D popped up a lot when she researched the history of video games, so she read the rule books, replay novels, and games inspired by D&D.
- One of the first games she studied was the Legend of Grimrock (game's 80% off on Steam atm). Originally, she wanted Dungeon Master (FTL Games) which was famous for "RPG with meals" but hunting down the game and machine was too much.
- She didn't like games other than turn-based RPGs at first, but she decided to stop being picky and play anything that piqued her interest.
- She played Zelda: BotW and TotK on a borrowed Switch from her editor due to the console's scarcity at the time.
- She enjoyed Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War for their stories. RDR2's incredible attention to detail had Kui engrossed so much that she asked her editor and other mangaka to play it so she could discuss it with them.
- Kui praised The Witcher 3 localization as something only possible with full support from the developer. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of her all-time favorites.
- Papers, Please was her first taste of indie games.
- Disco Elysium is the perfect game for her due to the lack of fighting, intriguing story, charming character interaction, and top-down perspective. She tried playing it in English at first due to an unlikely chance for JP loc, but it was out of her ability. Thus she is forever grateful to Spike Chunsoft for localizing it.
- Kui played Baldur's Gate 3 from the time it was in Early Access. Again, she's grateful for Spike Chunsoft's JP loc. She hoped BG3's success would bring the possibility of JP loc for other titles too, such as Pathfinder: wotr
- She likes games with top-down perspective because they have narration text for monologues and scenery description. Even if the graphic is lacking, the texts show the atmosphere and each character's behavior and psyche. Also, characters that react to your choices.
- She praised Unpacking and House Flipper for being able to tell what kind of person lives there only through their belongings, and that there's no right or wrong for the placements; she would make the best arrangement and then enjoy her hard work while sipping tea.
- The biggest inspiration for Dungeon Meshi was the Cosmic Forge pen from Wizardry VI. With improved graphics from its predecessor, now it could show broken farming tools in the background and many more details that made exploration so much fun.
- At the time of the interview (Dec '23) she still hadn't watched DunMeshi anime, but she attended the recording sessions. She's embarrassed that the dialog she wrote now acted passionately by professionals. Marcille's screaming was wonderful but also made her want to flee.
- Kui was anxious about the CP2077 anime adaptation, but she was relieved it was the Night City she knows and loves.
- Other than minor adjustments, she left it to TRIGGER as to how to adapt
- She's happy that Mitsuda Yasunori was chosen as the anime composer, as she used to play Chrono Cross and rewatched the opening many times.
- Her anticipated games in 2024 are Cloudpunk, Nivalis, and Avowed.
- DunMeshi would be hard to adapt into a game because in the first place, what Kui depicted in the manga are parts that are omitted in games for the sake of brevity.
- If DunMeshi game was Wizardry-like, it'd be told through Laios' perspective and eating was essential not to die

Buffy season 6 is insane. It’s like what if someone you loved died a meaningful and accepting death but you couldn’t live without them so you brought them back. And against all odds, they didn’t come back wrong, but they didn’t WANT to come back at all, and now they have to learn to live in this world again while resenting their friends and family for taking the death they willingly chose away from them. And existence is hell compared to death because in life they never get a break and never get to rest because they’re constantly needed by everyone. And they can’t chose to die a second time because they know what it would do to their loved ones who still never got over the fact that they died the first time. And also there’s a musical episode.

Alright, he's here! Making one hell of a debut on the blog, but perhaps the name sounds familiar to people who are in the official Discord server-
Nickolaus "Nick" Heilige!!!
One of our unlockable routes, and a Safe Route for those not ready to face the more brutal ones, or taking a break before diving back into the chaos, Nick is an artisan woodcrafter who lives out in the pine forest, and regularly donates hand-carved wooden toys to his local orphanage. Our tallest yet at 7'5", Nick is a gentle giant - and absolute teddy-bear of a man.
Will you find happily ever after with this DILF~?

can urlich be my daddy 👉👈
I’m posting this exclusively because it’s funny and also because it gives me chance to tease yall about character details lmao.
That said -
The LI’s In Order of Likelyhood to Be a Sugar Daddy!
#1 - Narry---
#1 - Ulrich. He’s a fancy CEO-type through and through, and while his affections are hard to get and even harder to tone down once gotten, he’s a man with the means and ego to shower you in gifts and money until you hardly recognize yourself anymore. There’s no escaping becoming a pampered pet, with Ulrich.
#2 - Zachnaphael. You don’t live forever without ending up accidentally hoarding gold, jewels, and potentially dangerous holy relics. The Smithsonian wants what this angel has. They could make you a necklace from the gold coins of a culture long dead, and probably WOULD if they thought you’d respect it well enough. Not to mention they have instant access to the entire world in the blink of an eye - want to visit Paris? Done. Want to try an obscure tea you read about online that only grows on one very specific tropical island? They’ll port off and bring it back to you themself. No treat or trip is too tall an order - not even the clouds themselves, if you want to know what it’s like to fly.
#3 - Mikey. Although he’s not the richest guy around, Mikey isn’t afraid to call in a few... “favors” with a few “business partners” to guarantee you have a good time, and he’s not exactly hurting for money, either, with a decent side-gig of playing his guitar in random bars around town. Among other things. He is a bad-boy, after all. You should expect at least the occasional shady deal.
#4 - Jessica. Technically a sugar mommy, not daddy, but she’d absolutely make you a custom corset if you asked, or even a full on gown if she especially likes you. Not much one in the way to give you money outright, she’s more of a time and effort kinda gal, but period-accurate clothing isn’t exactly cheap, either.
#5 - Jack. Sweet sweet puppyboy Jack. Unfortunately he doesn’t really have a job, and is more likely to be spoiled BY you than to spoil you - but it’s ok, his cuddles and loyalty are worth more than what money could ever buy. And who could ever say no to those big, sweet, chocolate-brown eyes? Let him make you some pancakes, at least - you might just have to buy the flour.

So I've been thinking lately about how Mithrun is Kabru's dark mirror (more on that another time- it needs its own post), and I thought it interesting that one of their parallels is that they were both cared for by Milsiril, but in opposite directions. She took Kabru in as her foster after he was orphaned and tried to convince him not to become an adventurer. On the flip side, she helped rehabilitate Mithrun specifically so that he could rejoin the Canaries.
And I kept wondering: why?
For Kabru, obviously she loves him a whole lot- despite any other shortcomings in their relationship, I do believe that.
So I get why she tries to convince him not to go dungeoning, and, failing that, at least prepares him as thoroughly as she can.
But why help Mithrun? She used to hate Mithrun, but after realizing what a secretly twisted person he was, she actually thought of him more positively (oh, Milsiril). So it wasn't as if she held the kind of grudge that might motivate her to make his already-depleted life even more miserable by sending him back to the dungeons. And it wasn't that she felt bad for him either, since she didn't visit Mithrun for the first ~20 years of his recovery.
The Adventurer's Bible says that Utaya was the impetus for Mithrun returning to the Canaries, but Milsiril is the one who made the trip to see him and tell him about it.
Why would Milsiril work so hard to get her old coworker back into fighting fit? Why encourage him to return to such a dangerous lifestyle, when she was the one who chose not to mercy-kill him?
That last panel is such a crazy thing to hint at and then never elaborate on. Without it we could have just thought that Milsiril wanted the Canaries' work to continue without her, even if it seemed out of character. I think some people even assume she's just a natural caretaker as a foster mom and handwave it to include nursing Mithrun too. What could Milsiril's suspicious motives be? What does she gain from Mithrun joining the Canaries that isn't an altruistic desire to see dungeons safely sealed? Feeling a sense of responsibility for the work she left behind isn't an ulterior motive.
My theory is: Milsiril, knowing that Mithrun was empty save for the burning desire to face the demon again, wound him up like a clockwork doll and pointed him back at the dungeons.
Hoping that he'd eliminate the biggest threat to Kabru's life, before it was too late for him.
Milsiril the puppetmaster.
