Jardín Majorelle. Marrakech. Jacque Majorelle (pintor orientalista francés (1886--1962) en 1923 se instala en Marrakech y compra un importante palmeral que se convertirá en el Jardín Majorelle. En 1962, cuando muere es abandonado. Yves Saint Laurent y Pierre Bergé lo compran en 1980 para salvarlo de un proyecto inmobiliario. Después de la muerte de Yves Saint Laurent en 2008 Pierre Bergé lo dona a la fundación Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent.

The Last Collections “I only spoke to Saint Laurent three times during filming. He was very impressive, but so in his own head – he was almost unreachable. The only thing we could do was observe him, like making a wildlife documentary.” - Olivier Meyrou, Director. In 1998, at a screening of one of his films in Paris, young French director Olivier Meyrou was approached by Pierre Bergé, the erstwhile lover and lifelong business partner of Yves Saint Laurent, who asked if he’d like to make a documentary about Saint Laurent and his legendary couture house. Meyrou spent the next three years documenting life at the atelier on Avenue Marceau, observing as the ailing designer produced his final couture collections and prepared for various milestones, including the spectacular retrospective runway show at the 1998 ‘World Cup’ closing ceremony and the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ that he was presented at the ‘CFDA Fashion Awards’ in 1999. Filming wrapped in 2001, one year before Saint Laurent retired, but an ensuing legal battle with Bergé meant that the finished documentary ‘Yves Saint Laurent: The Last Collections’ was banned from being released. Finally, some 18 years after the fact the film has been released into UK cinemas and on MUBI.
