Stillllllll catching up on social media posts lol - - The B in Laila B. Hameen stands for BRAVE. I have seen “Laif Off” 4.5 times over the past 5 years. Each time I laugh with Laila, cry with her, I am angry with her, and I am inspired by her. Imagine being laid off from your dream job. Then dealing with your shock and sadness by being brave enough to you write a play about it and all the other hard and important details of your life. It is an honor that PIQUE is a part of Laila’s story. That the beginning of the journey for “Laid Off” Happened at PIQUE. At the most recent version of “Laid Off” that I saw at the opening of @lailahameen ‘a solo exhibition currently up at PIQUE she said “I’m waiting on the dream role I’m never gonna get unless I make it myself.” She did make that role, and continues to make roles, and a company that roots for people, motivates people and NEVER quits. I am very excited to see a sketch of “Highered” this Thursday 2/27/20 at @pique.gallery at 7:13 - this is Laila’s first time working with other actors. I don’t know what to expect, except for myself to be highered. Perform-A-Thon 2019 was PIQUE Exerpience Art Space’s (@pique.gallery) 35 artists in 24 hrs festival, during the @cincyCAC’s This Time Tmrw international performance art festival. This event was one of the most important things I’ve ever been a part of and I am SO proud to have helped put it together. Honestly - an event like that was what I dreamed about when we were thinking about opening PIQUE. All of the artists that contributed will brilliant and really showcased the blossoming performance art scene in Cincinnati and beyond. It makes me Increibly excited to share the call for this year’s sequel event Perform-A-Rama 2020, connected to the 2nd #ThisTimeTmrw.
