So I went to an early screening for the first two episodes of the Percy Jackson show yesterday (Saturday), and let me just say, it is 100% the adaptation we deserve. It was amazing. Once it ended, I wanted more.

The characterizations were amazing, any changes there were made sense and made the situation more realistic and added tension, the story was straight from the book, it was just amazing.

I went with my mom and she, who doesn't know the books, really enjoyed it. I asked her how she liked it (literary just the first two episodes) compared to Harry Potter (which i had her watch a few years back), and she said there was no contest. She likes the pjo show much more. She said it was engaging and even had her wanting the next episode once it was done.

Everyone needs to watch this show. It was amazing. It lives up to the hype. We need to make sure it gets greenlit for season 2.

At the moment I have Sangria and Maron as children of Eris, for no reason other than the fact Maron refranced Eris in an au me and my friend made

I wanna say Udell is a Apollo kid cause. Doctor? But at the same time hes not a doctor, hes a scientist, so I'm not set on that one

Ebony is either a Demeter kid or an Apollo kid, for the fact I always associate her with plants and the fact her weapon is a violin that can turn into a bow(I really need to actually draw the teams weapons sometimes)

I have zero clue who Zane's parent would be, but like. Their the team healer and that make me wanna say Apollo but that would be weird if Ebony was an apollo kid Cause Zane and Ebony smooch

Taupe would odviously be a satyr, I mean hes already got the legs for it

Peach would be a Aphrodite kid. Idk why but it fits

Reggie would be an Ares kid. Again, idk why, but it just fits

Watching interviews with the PJO main cast like, they’re really gonna need to greenlight Season 2 like YESTERDAY because those kids are growing like weeds— they look like they should be filming Season 3 at this point, let alone 2

At this rate they’re gonna have to change the age of the prophecy from 16 to 18

something I have to say about the percy jackson tv show. no, please don't turn away if you're a fan because I really like it too, I'm just pointing something out. I will probably get blocked for this but The lightning thief was never my favourite. I hardly ever revisit it. For me, the first book was... ok, and then everything else following sea of monsters starts just getting better and better. Rick is understandably trying to revise his mistakes, ie medusa's plotline which I find incredibly tragic and they're using more hints towards The Last Olympian like it's the holy grail (which it is).

What I'm trying to say is that the first season is where they're literally just finding their grip. For me personally it never carried the same amount of magic that the other books had so we need to give it time to grow. 4 pearls? now that we know that uncle rick is good at inserting angst, something terrible will probably happen. Summer solstice happened? stakes are higher, we see them actually panic and freak out. Early percabeth hints? Honestly from this pov it just seems like we see the seeds but it's more like dammit I didn't expect you to end up being one of my besties so they're acting a bit embaressed. Acting is a bit stale? They're kids. it's the first season. They need to test the waters first and see what's possible and what's not. If they hopefully greenlight a second season we can actually start exploring the more emotionally mature side of pjo because my incredibly foggy memory saw the lightning thief as more of a romp while the sea of monsters had more dangerous stakes. Every first season or debut anything makes mistakes. Even in the books, the first one mainly relies on nostalgia to hold it together.

ALSO WE ARE HINTING TOWARDS A LOT OF POSSIBILITIES GROVER COULD BE DOING. Yes, grover should have been playing the kill the humans game but at the same time the happiness on his blissful face as he almost finds pan shows us that he is meant for something greater. Yes, percabeth sticks together but in the end it's grover who finds himself with a higher calling and this could definitely be tlaked about hand in hand with climate change so grover definitely has more to do.

Episode 6 was definitely the weakest IMO but Episode 5 and 3 were my favourites.

And to those comments about character development, Annabeth is definitely growing and maturing. the guys don't actually really mature until book 2 or 3.

IF DISNEY DOESNT GREENLIGHT THE REST OF THE SEASONS FOR PJO YOULL NEVER SEE ME AGAIN

If the PJO show gets renewed for future seasons, I really hope the audience doesn't give the child actors crap for being a little older than their characters in the show. I'm already seeing some people be like "they better film season 2 and 3 ASAP NOW!!!!" and like, I get that as fans you want the characters to still pass as certain ages, but its neither the child actors nor the PJO crew's fault if things get delayed a bit, especially when they haven't even been given the greenlight to film yet.

And another thing: I don't want the cast and crew to feel pressured by being on a deadline, whether its given by Disney themselves or by the audience pressuring them to start filming as soon as possible. Especially the child actors like Walker, Leah, and Aryan. We've seen on how deadlines can affect the overall quality or payoff of a piece of media with Frozen 2. But more importantly is the fact that the cast and crew have lives OUTSIDE of PJO and television that they deserve to experience. They are not machines who exist purely for us, the fans', own benefit. Especially the child actors.

I think it'd be great if we could get a season 2 or 3 renewed soon, but I also know that the PJO people can't do much until given the greenlight. Walker, Leah, and Aryan can't help that they are growing up. And again, putting deadlines on the cast and crew can really effect the quality of a season, as well as be very stressful on said cast and crew, especially the younger actors.

To put it short, be kind guys. If the show is renewed, be kind to the young actors and don't give them crap for being like, 1 or 2 years older than the characters they are portraying. They can't help the fact that they are growing up. And putting a deadline on them and the PJO staff would just add more stress on everyone involved and can effect the quality of the end result. Again, they've all got lives outside of PJO and TV too, and deserve to experience those lives without pressure from fans.

I dont want to be mean but i kinda think that at least half of problems on the sun and the star were Mark Oshiro's fault. Rick can (and have) fuck up characters motives and personalities but that book was next level. Also even If the plot os dumb Rick's writing style is funny and fast paced. Tsats fucking dragged It takes SO LONG to get to the point and when It did It was disappointing. My main reason to think that Rick barely touched that book is because Chalice of the gods, while lower stakes, while absolutely toothless and dancing around topics we waited since Boo to discuss, was fun to read. Fast paced. Snarky the way we're used to in RR's First person.

This is a pointless rant, i'm Sorry ajdhaks i'm Just so frustrated! I used to love Nico but what this fandom did to him (specially after solangelo) makes me so angry.

that's a fair point, actually, and as someone who hasn't even touched the newer books i shouldnt be allowed to comment on them. my assessment of rick's writing is basically from the blood of olympus and the first toa book, which is the only one i read in that series.

HOWEVER, i do think that the fact that rick greenlit the sun and the stars makes it canon to all of us as fans and readers, and in that respect i do blame him for the damage done. as an author, if something is being LEGALLY PUBLISHED AS A BOOK with your characters' names on it, it's your duty to make sure they aren't fucked up by the new author, because if that does happen it's really your name on the line. i see it it as a HP-cursed child situation, except for rowling's name was actually on that one, and idk if rick's is for Tsats.

tl;dr: i still blame rick, even though mark oshiro wrote tsats. rick fucked up by greenlighting the book and essentially turning it into canon, even if it wasn't his pen that caused the damage.

thank you for the rant, it's very valid and got me to think a little deeper about all this! like you, i'm super annoyed at what all the pjo characters have turned into, and it's making me super glad i never picked up any of rick's more recent works.

Hey!! I'm not sure if you're still taking prompts but I figured I'd give it a shot since you're my favourite Percabeth writer!

My favourite phase of a relationship is always right before they get together, with all the confusion, hurt, fighting and tension. I'm currently rereading all the pjo books and I'm just so disappointed by how few scenes there are of Percabeth in that phase of theirs, right after BOTL and before TLO. I'd love to see a fic of them fighting/trying to talk things out but being awkward again, etc. especially since we know Sally's wedding happened in that time as well 👀 maybe I'm just a sucker for jealous Annabeth and poor confused Percy lolol

I know that you've written a fic about this b4 and it's easily one of my faves, but hehe it'd be great to have some more from you. (BTW, gotta know your thoughts about the TV show!!! I'm currently already rewatching and having the soundtrack on repeat constantly, I'm in love🥺)

Hi! Thanks for writing in! So, I'm not actually taking prompts at the moment (although I'm going to post the last few of my backlog over the next couple of weeks), but, luckily, I just posted a new story a couple of weeks ago that's set in the fall between BotL and TLO. It's called Truce and takes place in and around Sally's wedding--the Ao3 link is here so definitely check it out! It's also posted on Fanfiction.net, I just don't have the link available at the moment. I really like this period of time for them, too (so much angst!). My story Complicated is also set during this time.

As for the TV show, I'm loving it! Can't wait for the new episode this week and finally getting to the Underworld, and I'm also really sad that next week is the finale already. I've been making some notes for myself as I watch, so I may do a longer post once all the episodes are out, but overall, I think the cast is doing an INCREDIBLE job, I'm loving that it's taking a few unexpected turns that keep it fresh, episode 5 was pretty much absolute perfection in my book, and I can't wait to see how everything ties up in these next two episodes.

Also, if Disney doesn't greenlight season 2 asap, I may cry lol would love to see the new Sea of Monsters interpretation (and then also books 3, 4, and 5, too--I think they should just greenlight the whole thing and get to work, ha).
