Sherlock Holmes the Awakened: a Review
(SPOILERS AHEAD)
Tumblr media
Sorry, sorry, sorry, but I just NEED to talk about this game! I have been a Frogwares Holmes fan since the very beginning and 'The Awakened' was always among my favourite titles. Not to mention one of the games that had scared the wits out of me. So I have to speak about the Remake now.
First and foremost, I think it needs to be reiterated that this game was made DURING THE FU****G INVASION OF UKRAINE! During such dark times, the team kept working on this. I would have supported this game even just for this reason alone.
Now, let's be honest: Frogwares never had the most marvelous graphics nor the most polished of gameplays and this entry is not an exception. I still feel the map system is a bit difficult to navigate (I may be an idiot, but I had the same issue with Chapter 1) but I really appreciated the added help the game gives you when you're recreating a scene, letting you know which passage you got wrong. Last game I found myself changing everything trying to hit the right combination so I really liked this fix.
This needs to be said: the game doesn't feel under any shape or form a product for a new fan. Everything from dialogues to game mechanics sort of take for granted that you've at least played 'chapter one'. Honestly? I'm ok with this, I hate having to always go through nearly identical tutorial stages for games I know inside out (like Pokémon) and I believe that most of not all people who are going to get this game ARE old fans!
Tumblr media
I wasn't originally a big fan of the new Holmes and Watson models when the last game came out but....I dunno, they have grown on me. I find myself liking them now for, I suppose, no other reason than 'they are very expressive' and 'I've gotten used to them'. I think it's gotten to the point that these might be my favourite models of the two to date. Please ignore how fickle I am! (In honesty, just to draw a similar parallel, when Roger Craig Smith was first announced as Sonic's voice I hated it and now he's my fav Sonic v. actor)
This game has something.....compared to its predecessor, that makes it less scary. I can't really put my finger on it, but I distinctly remember the feeling of claustrophobia building in me when I was in the Black Edelweiss. Or the sheer jumpscare I got when the sacrificed American detective on the altar had tentacles coming out of it and severing his head making it roll to the ground. I remember almost not wanting to paddle the rowboat under the tree of hanging men in the Bayou. I remember how viscerally sick I felt at the lighthouse by all the gore and blood depicted. This time round.....I just didn't. I'm honestly not sure why this didn't hit me nearly as hard as its 2006 predecessor did!
And talking about comparisons, one thing I'm a bit disappointed they didn't grab the chance to do in this remake was fix the loose ends that were left hanging in the 2006 version. I mean....they still abandoned completely the search for that one Maori servant, what happened to all the people they managed to rescue? Who hired the private American detective that was killed? Why give out the cheap pendants? I know I'm a bit dumb and need extra explaining than what is necessarily needed but...I can't be the only one right? Sometimes you want to be told just a bit more.
Tumblr media
Now, getting into the really good bits, that make all of it worth it!
'Chapter One' acted as a 'de facto' reboot of the Frogwares Holmes series, and I honestly think that was for the best. I don't really see where they could have gone with things after 'Devil's Daughter' and their Holmes had changed too much to be the same guy from 'The Silver Earring'...let alone Watson. But like this? They have a fresh, clean slate to start off from and they can rebuild the two mains' relashionship and lore from the ground up in a more strictly consequential manner. And the way they are doing it? I think it's state of the art!
Tumblr media
The fact that they poke fun at themselves on certain points like Watson stating: "What about when you used to roll up only one of your sleeves? Did you get bored halfway through?!" I think the Devs themselves realized this was a cringe design choice and I like that they said so out loud.
Tumblr media
The meta-conversation they wrote in towards the end, 'because yes, this HAS Happened before and the story still has the same outcome', is brilliant. I don't think I've ever seen another remake that acknowledges that it is a remake, and in the general madness that is mounting in the narrative this makes perfect sense! It adds one more layer of horror and inexplicable to the tale. The villain's warning 'that the Final Problem is coming and Sherlock will fall in the abyss too' is such a powerful way to use Canon. The prophecy is only made more real and dreadful by the fact that this person is aware of what has already happen in a similar but different scenario!
Also, not them using that one quote from 'The Valley of Fear' novel which happens to be one of my all time favourites!
I say, Watson,’ he whispered, ‘would you be afraid to sleep in the same room as a lunatic, a man with softening of the brain, an idiot whose mind has lost its grip?’ ‘Not in the least,’ I answered in astonishment. 'Ah, that’s lucky,’ he said, and not another word would he utter.
Tumblr media
I think the thing that has most benefited from the Remake is Watson's character. Compared to the 2006 version, this Watson is a truly compelling character in his own right and this time round he's not just along for the ride. In this version, you simply cannot imagine how Holmes would have done it on his own. Watson was in every way a key component to the solution of the problem and the reason why Holmes didn't drown in madness. That point is driven home by Rochester asking 'How did you defeat me?' and Holmes answering 'I made a friend!'
Much of the narrative in the game was focused on Holmes truly learning to accept Watson's friendship and him as a person when he was still clinging so much to his old imaginary friend. You can see how, at first, Holmes refuses to be honest with the Doctor about what he thinks and feels and it's only as they move forward in the adventure that they both open up to each other. You can see as the adventure progresses that Holmes shifts his desperate cries from 'Jon' to 'Watson' to 'John' and the Doctor goes more and more often from 'Holmes' to 'Sherlock'. Mycroft also points this out when he says that Sherlock 'went from one Jon to another'. But this one, John Watson, is real and there to stay. In the context of a story that happens mostly in the detective's mind, Watson's friendship is really what turns the situation around!
Tumblr media
I could add of little tid bits which were so random and on the nose that somehow worked, like the possessed 'Heidi' doll or the fact that you had to actually 'Kill Holmes' with the booby traps instead of avoiding them.
Also, "The director Guygax was randomly killed.....by a doll?!????!?!?! Yeah, let's just walk out of here no questions asked. That's too deep a wormhole even for this f***d up Adventure to go down. I'm sure nobody is gonna ask us questions, suspect or stop us as we go out the main doors!" 😃 -Holmes, probably.
So, yeah, I loved this game despite it not being perfect and my love and support goes to Frogwares more that ever!

I played Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One slowly and eventually loved it to pieces. I thought it was definitely Frogwares best up until that point. I just finished playing the new version of The Awakened though (less than 3 days after it came out) and er... wow. I was trying to space it out so I wouldn't just play it in one go but obviously had limited success.
If you enjoy Sherlock Holmes and/or Lovecraft's stuff, hurt/comfort, detective style video games or any combination of those please give it a go. Frogwares put a lot of care into this despite everything that's happening in their home country of Ukraine right now, and I have endless love and respect for them. I am also more than willing to give them so much money to keep making these. The current continuity they've built up is so good.
The game is also incredibly good from a Holmes/Watson perspective. You want to watch them growing attached to each other while dealing with a fair amount of trauma on both sides? This game is very, very good for that. I am having so many feelings right now that may end up being turned into a fic. We shall see. In the meantime, if you would like to come into my notes/messages and scream with me please do.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the successful Crimes and Punishments and with the Sherlock Holmes IP back in the mainstream media forefront thanks to the Robert Downey Jr movies, Frogwares had the perfect storm for one more title of their long running series. It would be an easy win: to improve the existing framework, assess to the criticisms from the previous game and make some cosmetic changes in order to make it more enticing for the newcomers with bombastic set pieces to break some of the slower paced moments.
The game starts strong, with a glimpse of a future event of the opening case in a classic case of “how did we get here?” moment. A simple case of a missing parent in the behest of a young child soon evolves into a horrifying conspiracy and the first of the many action and time-based segments sprinkled in with quick time events throughout. This opening case is relentless, quickly introducing the new mechanics yet somewhat expecting that the player have already experienced Crimes and Punishments to catch up with the older mechanics. Old favorites like Sherlock’s deduction and imagination are intact and the chemical table is still as varied and engaging as before until a story event puts it out of the commission for the remainder of the game, and the picklock system had a complete overhaul that can be said to be more realistic and require a little less of suspension of disbelief. The new balancing minigame is far less frustrating, thankfully, and the eavesdrop mechanic would be further refined in Sherlock Holmes Chapter One.
Tumblr media
The true meat of the changes are the action scenes, seemed to have been implemented to  please those who say that adventure games are too slow or too boring. In the previous game Holmes was no stranger in going into a fistfight with a suspect, but now every case needs to have a movie-like action moment or something eye-catching to punctuate and it sometimes can fit the narrative or be completely out-of-place like the “Indiana Jones”-esque puzzle that takes place entirely in Sherlock’s mind, as opposed the interesting writing in the Blood Bath case. The stealth sequences can also be frustrating and some of the action “puzzles” are a matter of repeating it and memorizing the right sequence until getting it right and surviving or to be annoyed enough to hit the “skip” button and miss the achievement. Crimes and Punishments also had clunky action, however they were far shorter and sparse. Neither games had the option of creating save slots and only in this one it was a feature that I wished it was present.
Tumblr media
The overall narrative arc is incredible strong this time with a character from the ending of The Testament of Sherlock Holmes shows up and is an important role until the end: Sherlock’s daughter. The tension about this thread keeps on building up every passing case until a bombastic crescendo that culminates in a final case without any excess, sometimes even bordering on the surreal to reflect Holmes’ state of mind. Sadly, this time Watson is out of the picture most of the time and seldom partaking in the story. It can be rather jarring how he is present in the main promo materials and is hardly seen during the investigations or have anything to contribute except in the two last cases. Perhaps it was deliberate so Sherlock can have more screen time with his daughter and in the past the “teleporting Watson” was a joke known even to those who haven’t played the game so it would be easier on the technical side to save John for specific moments in the plot.
Tumblr media
Another obvious improvement was in the graphics: at first it may be strange how Holmes and Watson look younger and this isn’t a prequel, in fact the ending of Crimes we are hinted about the new mysterious neighbor that will cause some strife between Holmes and his daughter. How the redesign might affect the enjoyment of the title might depend on how attached to the older version or how it affects the feeling of continuity, and it also has an entirely different voice cast with Alex Jordan becoming the current voice for Sherlock. Other existing characters like Lestrade and Wiggins are the same design-wise, except for improved textures and models, and some previously existing environments have some slight graphical updates or were even expanded, like in the case of Baker Street. Still, it doesn’t feel like cutting corners, merely part of the continuity. The game is simply gorgeous to look at, some of the uncanniness of the human models have been ironed out for the most part and the lighting glitch is gone. The locations are far more detailed and have strong atmosphere and composition, really inspiring the feeling of places lived-in or decadent.
Tumblr media
It can be hard to recommend this game. A mid-tier adventure game bereft with quick time events to build up more excitement but that ends up building up frustration instead. It is clear how much Frogwares care for the series and their attempts to make it always fresh and engaging can be felt in every detail. Unfortunately there were a few more misses than hits in this one but still a solid title that deserves to be played at least once.

I'm playing Sherlock Holmes Crimes and Punishments by frogwares and I LOVE IT. Am currently hoping to save up to get The Devil's Daughter. Also, the Mycroft character is hilarious, when he showed up I was screaming. He sounds like he is 100% done with humans Sherlock.
Do you guys like the video games' version of Mycroft Holmes? 🧐
Please excuse any grammatical errors I'm not English

My 2022 Review: Section 3 - Vidja Games
In the last section, we ended off with a brief intro into what 'Obey Me! Shall we Date?' franchise entailed.
And I have, not so much a theory, just a correlation, that I will discuss after going into this gatcha franchise (more like 'water is wet' statement), as well as some discussion on mental health.
I've going to avoid all of the detailed stuff about it by linking this post I made earlier this year back when I was in the heat of playing the game and only having spent money to boost one card I liked, and maybe throw $20 here and there.
In summary: the plot has good premise, from parts Seasons 1 - 3 of the game {Season 1: Chapters 1 -20, Season 2: Chapters 21-40, etc.}. However, I have heard echoes from more well-versed fans of the series that Season 4: Chapters 61-80 were not great for multiple reasons in regards to the plot (I never made it this far into the game, I stopped around chapter 50), but the art and misc. content being put into the franchise is decent.
I've also seen a lot of people catch onto the....very questionable decisions that were picked up during dialogue. It's kind of dodgy and questionable, but they're the 7 princes of Hell, not some BTS crew who hasn't committed at least one war crime {this is a joke or assumption that all KPOP stars are precious little uwu angel boys because I know nothing about KPOP except the word BTS} (spoiler: all of the characters in Obey Me have committed at least war crime, yes even YOU the MC. Edit: probably the only character that has not committed a war crime and ironically is the only character you cannot date in the game and that is Luke)
(I mean, look at him, I don't have to explain why he's not datable.)
Tumblr media
And ESPECIALLY stay away from playing the game IF YOU DON'T HAVE IMPULSE CONTROL.
Between the months of March, May, June, October, November, and into this month as well, my personal life has not been great and my mind has been in some bad places. And when so much stress and trauma seem to seep into my head, I tend to want to dissociate and forget that reality is a thing. Because literally two weeks after writing that article, a brand new event launched on the app and my investment on microtransactions to boost cards and get pulls that I wanted hit a four digit USD number. After Lucifer's birthday back in June, I had to stop playing or I was going to drain my bank account. I was that depressed and desperate for any kind of dopamine to hit my veins that I was willing to spend my life savings for happiness on fictional characters. I do regret the choice I made looking back, but in the moment I could have cared less.
The same thing happened to me when I played Mystic Messenger a few years back, but I knew where to draw the line sooner rather than later when I noticed the dent in my checking account.
Don't get me wrong, I still love the character designs and the characters themselves. I just don't want to get sucked into what is essentially, an addiction, like that, ever again.
PS I am making this not rebloggable so if you have any other hot takes on OB: SWD, please reply, send me a DM, or an ask in my inbox I would love to hear your thoughts. Conclusion: Don't play gatcha dating simulators when you're severely depressed.
Going to start off with the games I actually have finished.
Sherlock Holmes Chapter One
Okay, now that is out of the way, I can fully discuss the first game I played in full this year from the Ukranian Chads at Frogwares: Sherlock Holmes Chapter One.
This is kind of like a fanon prequel to the canon storyline where Sherlock grew up on this island known as Cordona, a melting pot of an island in the Mediterranean where you solve mysteries around the island, as well as into Sherlock's past of as to what actually happened in this re-imagined tale.
Warning: if you are very sensitive and get triggered from by-gone era culture, do not play this game. Even the game warns you up front what you are about to dive into, and even I, who has been getting less ruffled by triggering things over the years, had some 'yikes' moments when playing.
The reason I didn't give a full analysis the first time around playing is because I was a broken shell by playing the ending. Seriously, NO SPOILERS GO PLAY IT FOR YOURSELF.
okay maybe a few.
This is Sherlock, you can dress him up in multiple different outfits for funsies, and the writing is incredibly tongue and cheek.

If you are also interested in Lovecraftian horror, Frogwares is also remaking one of their older games where it a crossover of Lovecraft Horror and Holmes so, if that is your cup of tea.
Now only if we could get a remake of this....then my life would be complete.
Tumblr media
I am currently playing through Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis and it's glorious, the Part 6 Lupin actually needed.
Disco Elysium
I blame Tumblr. Specifically that one gif of break dancing harry, this was the one that grabbed my attention to this weird little RPG.
I went in blind so I had little to no idea what to do, but loved how the game was set up all around D&D-style roll checks. I do want to play the game again to see what I missed the first time around, as well as mess around with builds to see what is most effective to getting what I want (note: I tried building Jigen and I think I softlocked myself out of progression because I couldn't pass any of my checks).
Funky Little Game that I enjoyed. 10/10.
Hades
I technically beat the game for the first time and now I'm on level 2 (I'm not good at rougelike it took me nearly 100 tries to get out the first time). But man do I love...everything about this game.
Favorite weapon is the spear. Favorite love interest is Miles Ed-I MEAN THANATOS.
And I can't wait to play the sequel when it releases.
The Great Ace Attorney 2: FINALLY FINISHED IT
I gave a lot of crap to this game duo set last year, especially to the last trial of the first game where it dragged and dragged, and dragged to nothing and everyone by the end of the trial, had admitted to committing one sort of crime or another.
But finally I got around to force myself to finish the second game right where I left off and....it was actually good? The plot twists (though I knew some of them, but not the two most important plot twists) had some logical thought put into them? And the ending case was excellent with how the game mechanics played out?
Why didn't we get this in the first game?
Powerwashing Simulator/House Flipper
It was annoying at times, and the plot (yes a simulator game had a PLOT) was bonkers, but I had a chill time with it. 8/10 for stimulation.
I've also been playing some more House Flipper lately to chill off which helped a bit.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales
I beat this game in a span of a couple of days, and I don't remember much about it, but I do remember having a good time for how short the campaign actually was.
8/10
Ghostwire Tokyo
My Diamond in the Rough of 2022 that was published by Bethesda. Japanese modern era horror? Sign me up! The atmosphere of the game is eerie, a contrast on what I was playing back in 2021.
8/10
Monster Prom, Monster Camp, & Monster Road Trip
I'm going to put these games all together since they're from the same series and I bought them in a set.
Note: These games are better with friends (I've...mostly been playing alone) and co-op is necessary when it comes to hitting the objectives in Road Trip so you can plan out your routes accordingly.
Overall, they're fun games to play if you have some down time.
Basically this trilogy of games is a visual novel dating simulator for monster fuckers. My favorite character? Milo Belladonna, hands down. They ooze aesthetic.
Side note: I have been planning to write this compilation review list for months now and the only thing that has been glued in my head to write down is this:
ICHIBAN IS THE WEED TREE!
Tumblr media
Context: Magic Tree Mike is voiced by Kaiji Tang, aka Goro Yatagarasu from Lupin Parts 5-6 and KASUGA ICHIBAN FROM YAKUZA 7 (it's hilarious his running joke is telling characters that they're the chosen one)
Games I revisited/am currently playing now/games on hiatus that have not been mentioned
God of War aka Dad Simulator 2018
ProZd picking up a voice acting role in the sequel is what caused me to get into this 4 years later.
I'm not far into the game (I'm currently in Alfheim), and I'm enjoying it so far. The cutscenes are gorgeous and flow wonderfully together with the actual gameplay, which as it stands, is better than Yakuza. And I'm actually being presented a challenge when it comes to battling enemies. I've died a handful of times and I haven't gotten upset because they've all been my fault to just git gud. I'm hoping to enjoy this game to the end so I can get the sequel on the cheap side.
Dragon Quest XI S Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition
I started this game two years ago and picked it up again because I couldn't find something else to play and...so far it's nothing special, just your standard run of the mill JRPG. The only complaint I have so far is that the casino is entirely based on luck and requires no skill to play, unlike what I'm used to in Yakuza when playing Blackjack.
I just got all the party together and I'm off to fight a tentacle monster, but I hit another grind wall.
Stray
10/10 for cat.
8/10 for the very unsettling undertones of the overall plot. I'm probably not going to go back to it for the dystopian horror alone because it kind of makes me uncomfortable.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
I've already been slandered earlier this year for what I said about Blackbeard, the Gentlemen Pirate, and Our Flag Means Death.
It's Assassin's Creed with Pirates, what more could you ask for? Although, I have played a bit of Valhalla and I can see that this game was the one that started the beginning of 'less assassins, more random countries with assassins as the side plot' because the main character of this game does not care about the plot that Ezio was fighting for in his trilogy years before the plot of 4 happened.
Crafting system is no me gusta. 6/10.
The Wolf Among Us
I will get back to this....eventually. Story is pretty decent and I like Bigby. 9/10.
World of Final Fantasy
I don't know if I will plan to complete this game from beginning to end, but I'm committed since I'm already at the halfway point. This game is just Pokemon: Final Fantasy edition so I'm not that invested in the plot, but I am interested as to what happened to these two twins. Like, are they even real or is this a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet moment?
Even if I do quit at some point, there is only one character I must interact with if I don't decide to carry on and it was decided the last time I played, which was six months ago.
Tumblr media
In case you don't understand, this is why
Tumblr media
I had some cool transition into the next segment, but I really don't have one.

Eliminating the Impossible
Ever since I watched the show Detective Conan, I’ve always wanted my sharp mind to the test and solve gruesome murders. That desire was only heightened by reading the adventures of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous fictional character: Sherlock Holmes back in Year 8. The idea of emulating the greatest detective in the world was what drove me to study criminology and helped train my keen eye to the minutest detail.
For a good long while, my one desire was to throw on a deerstalker cap, have a Stradivarius violin sitting in the back corner of my room  and exclaim: ‘The game is afoot!’ to a doctor friend.
So when video games were released that encapsulated that feeling of being a master detective, as well as the Victorian setting of the time, I was hooked. Being able to deduce everything with just a quick glance and arrive at awesome conclusions? Yes, please!
Frogwares has come a long way in terms of their Sherlock Holmes titles. Many of the early titles were focused on one huge case that spanned the entirety of the hours spent on it. Holmes would traipse from one corner of London to the next in order to unravel the dastardly villain behind it all. That all changed with Crimes and Punishments where players could enjoy a myriad of shorter cases that allowed players to arrive at their own conclusions. So, eager to try my hand at actual crime solving instead of sitting on the couch and letting the playable character solve it all in several long drawn out cutscenes, I dusted off my PlayStation 4 Pro to enjoy a romp around London before I jumped into the much more open-world interpretation of my favourite detective in his younger years.
Tumblr media
Lo and behold: Sherlock Holmes and the Devil’s Daughter.
While I enjoyed the first three cases of the game, the latter ones felt much too rushed. Despite the strong opening, I was disappointed at how quickly the intrigue petered out. From a narrative standpoint, it was also disheartening to see how little the cases tied together. Yes, there was an overarching arch but the writers only touched upon it with small snippets rather than letting them breathe or have Kate (Moriarty’s daughter) be more involved rather than shunting her off to the sidelines.
It would have also helped if Holmes was more receptive to communicating with his adopted daughter instead of ignoring her wants and needs. For much of the game, he is constantly reminded by Watson that Kate deserves the truth. This also plays into the ending as well, which falters a little due to how little Holmes has interacted with Kate throughout the game.
Still, the whole deduction business was very much in keeping with the great detective. The way he would file away certain clues and then make deductions in his mind palace was a sight to see. I also liked that the players had the options to select certain choices when it came to evidence. The most important aspect from the books was that preconceptions could colour or bias a deduction. Rather than come up with a hypothesis and pick and choose what evidence to neatly fit into it, it was far better to use the evidence to formulate the circumstances and motives.
Fittingly, the gameplay was primarily focused on solving cases although there were occasional diversions such as lawn bowling or navigating one’s way through a secret Mayan temple within the confines of Sherlock’s mind. While these had their own intriguing problems to solve, they were more or less a gimmick to provide something fresh and different to the formula that was mastered in the last game.
My experience with the Devil’s Daughter was still, however, marred by the technical limitations of the platform. It was clear from the outset that the game wasn’t terribly optimised for consoles. There was quite a bit of screen tearing and suffering through long load times (after getting acquainted with much faster speeds on the PlayStation 5). Worse were the janky movements from Holmes to Watson and the inexplicable lack of instructions for new functions. While tutorials might have bogged down the pacing, they would have made certain puzzles a lot easier to deal with.
As it always the case, the Sherlock Holmes titles from Frogwares are not triple-A games. That doesn’t mean, however, that they are not enjoyable.
These grumbles aside, my time with Frogwares attempt at changing up the formula before heading back into the distant past, was still a detecting feast for my Sherlock loving heart. Here’s hoping Sherlock Holmes Chapter One will bring a breath of fresh air to the franchise whilst still balancing the a-ha moments with as much style as possible.

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes (SPOILERS for the entire thing)
Ok so in honor of Chapter One coming out you all have to know that I am a huge Frogwares Sherlock nut, like really, since the good old days when my sister and I were too scared to keep playing Awakened. Anyway I made this comic of Testament forever ago. Frogwares if you see this please never stop, I will always preorder
GO GINGER
Tumblr media
BONUS from Crimes & punishments, when you get to dress up but there's leniency in the game mechanics, I will 100% abuse that

To admit to the word of…love so ardently is vulnerable to a point he simply cannot risk. It's blazing and new and so dangerous.
It's easier to ignore it. Safer. To shove it down and cover it with annoyance, irritation, guilt, lust, admiration or respect. Anything else, anything to dull the ache. Anything to protect himself from losing.
He's protecting them both.
Sherlock knows what happens when you love someone. Love is loss.
But now…there is nothing else it can be, laid bare in his mind. Tomorrow he will excuse it away, describe it as anything else. Distance himself from the truth once more. But now, that's all there is. All there ever was.
That and the voices of the somethings below the surface of the world bellowing in tones too low to hear, felt in your bones with every step.
He hates nights like this.
----
Finally finished my 11k porn with plot light angst transatlantic eldritch horror Frogwares Johnlock fic I've been cooking with my buddy @themostat who edited and drew all the artwork for it (his art work is insane, check him out) for the like 3 people in this fandom. We see you guys. This got a bit out of hand. Please enjoy the first of the life/love/loss trilogy, and the culmination of hours of boat research and gay sex in the 1800s. Please play the games.

Oh, hi i missed this, I have no idea how long ago this was! Okay, I guess we’re doing this now.
1.) The fondest memories I have of bonding with my father are about video games, mostly playing Gauntlet at a Papa Ginos. 2.) I have been to Ireland, England, Italy, and Hawai’i before.
3.) I have been an avid fan of MOST things Sherlock Holmes related since I was about eight or nine, (ever since I read “The Speckled Band” i think), I’ve gone back and read the first volume of shorts but not the second. My favorite modern portrayals of Sherlock are the RDJ movies and the Frogwares games. (Do not approach me about the BBC Sherlock, as I hate it, and will not answer you).

Proof That Java Edition Minecraft Really Works
Keith says: ‘It’s virtually like a treehouse for us, where we will go and cling out and discuss - it is a very managed, logical surroundings and Zac can make sense of that world very clearly. Smedley pointed to video games like League of Legends and Dota 2 as successes, however he should have also included Minecraft because it is one of the best model for sandbox gameplay out there right now. Unlike mods for another video games, installing Minecraft mods is a breeze (take a look at our full guide on how to install and play with mods in Minecraft: Java Version on Pc for some assist). Assuming all goes well with testing, we might see the 1.18.2 patch update for Minecraft: Java Version, top-of-the-line Computer games, inside the following few weeks. Act as a analysis software that can take a look at these theories as properly. Even if Well will not be a assure, always look ahead to it and all the time act like you are going to absolutely deal with that day. Even a single mod could make the sport much more pleasing, especially when tailor-made to your personal pursuits. With mobs ranging in issue, this mod is nice for more skilled gamers on the lookout for a new journey. The journey pack is at present aimed for the end of the 12 months, sure. This year, we opted to make eligible any on-line game that isn't a pure and conventional MMORPG, games we might cover in Not So Massively: cell MMOs, console MMOs, OARPGs, MOBAs, MMOFPS titles, MMORTS titles, and so forth. Life in the Woods is probably not a quest mod per se, however it changes your entire game to help you be more in contact with nature. These are completed by the assistance of the internet providers. Plague rats will automatically attack gamers and infect close by rats, however once tamed they are immune to the consequences of the illness. However beware, rats can burrow by means of dirt and wooden and steal food and objects instantly from chests, so watch out with this mod or you may get greater than you bargained for. This modpack comes near resembling a role-taking part in tabletop recreation with terrifying spellcasters and shut-quarter combat sections. People have poured years value of hours into the game so a brand new axolotl here and a brand new ore there may not be sufficient. Anyone in the seek for the marvels of expertise in Minecraft have found their match. Dynamite Announces SHERLOCK HOLMES: THE VANISHING MAN
Posted on 21st February 2018 By John Reppion
Nine years after our first Holmes series arrived on comic shop shelves, we are very pleased to announce that we’re back at Dynamite Entertainment writing a brand new Sherlock Holmes mystery; The Vanishing Man. Julius Ohta is doing a fantastic job bringing the fog, grime, and blood, of Victorian London to the page, and the always incredible John Cassaday returns to cover duties.
February 20, 2018, Mt. Laurel, NJ: Dynamite Entertainment is proud to announce their continuing exploration of a literary icon – and pop culture sensation – with Sherlock Holmes: The Vanishing Man, a new series written by experienced Holmes writers Leah Moore and John Reppion, illustrated by rising talent Julius Ohta, and featuring cover artwork by superstar artist John Cassaday (Astonishing X-Men, Star Wars).
“Sherlock Holmes is just such a great character and the world he inhabits is such a rich one. Even in the original stories, Arthur Conan Doyle was always hinting at all these other, as-yet-unrecorded adventures which he and Dr. Watson had already had. To be able to fill in some of those gaps with our own stories is a huge privilege, but also loads of fun,” say Moore and Reppion in a joint statement.
Sherlock Holmes: The Vanishing Man #1 introduces the curious case of Michael Williams, a reliable man at both work and home, who disappears without a trace from foggy old London Town. The famous consulting detective and his faithful companion Dr. Watson investigate, only to discover new dangers lurking around every corner!
“The Vanishing Man is a mystery a bit more in line with the Strand Magazine short stories which were collected in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes,” say Moore and Reppion. “As ever, part of the fun is tying the whole thing into the existing Holmes chronology; working out which of the original stories comes before and after, and exactly what’s going in Holmes’ life and world at that time. We’ve always tried to stick to Arthur Conan Doyle’s version of Holmes as closely as possible.”
Leah Moore and John Reppion are a husband-and-wife writing team based in Liverpool, UK. Scripting comics together since 2003, the duo have written for the likes of 2000 AD, Dark Horse, DC Comics, Dynamite, and IDW. They have written established characters such as Doctor Who and Sherlock Holmes (The Trial of Sherlock Holmes, The Liverpool Demon), as well as creating their own. Together, they have faithfully adapted notable works by Lewis Carroll, H. P. Lovecraft, Bram Stoker, and M. R. James into comics and graphic novels. In addition, Moore and Reppion were consulting writers for Frogwares Games’ multi-platform adventure, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments.
“Everyone loves a good mystery, and Leah and John are two of the best at crafting them. They launched our Sherlock Holmes brand in 2009 to critical acclaim (just as they did with our adaptations of Alice in Wonderland and Dracula), and we are eager to pour over their scripts for clues to the latest caper,” says Nick Barrucci, CEO and Publisher at Dynamite. “Add newcomer Julius Ohta as an accomplice and that beloved scalawag John Cassaday into the mix, and you have all the ingredients for a wild romp through Victorian England!”
Sherlock Holmes: The Vanishing Man #1 will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ March Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in May. Comic book fans are encouraged to reserve copies with their local comic book retailers. Sherlock Holmes will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms, courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, iVerse, Madefire, and Dark Horse Digital.

Frogwares’ Sherlock Holmes series returning next year with fresh-faced origin story • Eurogamer.net
Coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and next-gen.
Developer Frogwares’ well-regarded investigation-based Sherlock Holmes series is making a comeback next year with an origin story titled Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One.
Chapter One is Frogwares’ first new Sherlock Holmes game since 2016’s divisive The Devil’s Daughter (the studio busied itself with Lovecraft-inspired The Sinking City in the interim), and it tells the story of a fresh-faced, 21-year-old Sherlock not explored in the books. The developer calls this version of the character “more raw talent than refined genius…reckless and impatient and a tad brazen, but unknowingly already on the path to greatness”.
Frogwares also says it’s deliberately moving away from the over-familiar fog-shrouded streets of Victorian London for Chapter One, shifting its origin story to the altogether more sunny, Mediterranean-inspired island of Sherlock’s youth, “where class divides and corruption are the foundations of this society”.

As Chapter One begins, Sherlock returns to the island to uncover the truth behind the death of his mother, accompanied by his then-best-friend Jonathan, whose relationship will play a central role in the game, according to the developer.
“While we’re getting more creative with the backstory of Sherlock, fans of the series and character can rest assured we’re sticking close to the source material to keep it cohesive,” says Frogwares, “Most people have a firm view of who Sherlock is. Our story isn’t about changing that, but rather exploring how he could have come to be this way, exploring ideas right down to how he acquired his penchant for the violin, his distinct hat and even his addiction to drugs.”
Chapter One – which Frogwares stresses is a complete game – introduces Frogwares’ new Global Investigation System, which builds upon the “no hand holding” structure of The Sinking City to give players “much more freedom in solving cases in a way that feels like genuine detective work.” There’s a combat system, which might rankle those who felt The Devil’s Daughter leaned too heavily on the action, but Frogwares says it’s build around Sherlock’s observational skills rather than brute force.
Hopefully the end result will more closely mirror 2016’s superbly atmospheric Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which struck just the right balance between pacy mystery yarn and open-ended exploration adventure, featuring a tremendously satisfying deductive focus.
Frogwares says Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One will launch sometime in 2021 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and next-gen consoles.
