hey !! by any chance do you know if philodendron are C3, C4 or CAM plants?? i'm writing a paper and i literally can't find any good sources. if you know any good writing on philodendrons pls can you send it my way? thank u

hmmm….i’m going to guess C3, just out of the process of elimination. C4 has evolved independently over 40 times if i remember correctly, but a large percentage of that diversity is grasses evolved for wide prairies and grasslands where it’s hot and sunny as hell. CAM is generally in succulents and desert plants focusing on conserving water (unless you’re isoetes or a few other aquatic plants, in which case you’re doing this process because CO2 in the surrounding water is most readily available at night and burns off during the day, so there’s no real point in keeping your stomates open). overall, to be fair i don’t know much about philodendrons, but after a brief google search they seem to be shade plants, which means that just by speculation they would probably be fine with just C3 (not in an overly hot + humid + sunny environment and not aquatic or conserving water). 

fun fact, all that being said, if you can’t find any papers about it, it’s very possible that nobody’s like, actually asked that question and then gone in to see what kind of photosynthesis they’re actually doing. in plant anatomy the most well-studied plants are the ones that can be used for human stuff, so crops and shit, which means that other plants just kind of….get ignored, so we like, straight up don’t have basic data for a WIDE variety of stuff like that. even house plants might only have stuff initially describing the species and providing industry-related breeding info. what are the anatomical details of the non-problematic-or-monetarily-exploitable plants in your backyard beyond ‘this is a grass, grasses usually grow x way’ or ‘this is a vine, vines usually have x kinds of tissues in cross section’? we just dont know its a mystery

one thing 2 consider is gd isnt equivilant to transness, it’s instead like a cousin. there r plenty of nondysphoric trans people, and there are dysphoric cis people. i know personally dysphoric lesbians who r transitioning, use he/they and id as cis (who r definitely not transmisogynistic) I don’t think gender dysphoria is a trans-only experience, and gnc cis gay people can experience and talk ab dysphoria w/o being transphobic. (just my thoughts as a tme transitioned nonbinary butch!

(side note i at first read "gd" as "G-d" because that's how i type it jewishly and was very confused for a second sdfdsfhgjkdf)

but yes! as a fellow tme transitioned butch (i use the term "genderless" rather than nonbinary, but we are certainly identificatory comrades :,) ) i love the concept of dysphoria (as it were -- again, i don't like the pathological language) as a cousin of transness, related but not inherently indicative nor necessary or trans embodiment.

hm, i have mixed feelings about the idea of "cis butches who use different pronouns" etc, primarily because i suspect the particular reasons they are dissociating from transness might be...not good. if we are not using "dysphoria" as an indicator of transness, we do need to understand certain social decisions (pronoun changes, gender-rel. modification, etc.) as indicative of trans subjectivity...hm. 

yeah, i think that identifying with cisness and also performing the social act of gender-crossing, probably means a person needs to critically examine what cis and trans means to them, and why they remain so attached to cisness as a concept. but hey, everyone can more or less id how they want and i really can't do much about it haha.

This is something I have been loosely keeping up with, and honestly I don't care if people continue to use the app but I do care about spreading information. I've stopped using the app mostly because of how addictive it was for me, but i also don't like that they use the content on the app largely without consent from the creators for their advertising and I dislike that their removed content is often removed without explanation, which is suspicious to me, especially when they remove harmless content.

Anyone who uses the app isn't to blame, just those who created and own tiktok don't feel trustworthy.
