Could you elaborate on why you want season 8 Sam to die? It's been years since I watched that season ahah. I don't doubt that he deserves to, but I cannot remember why.

He saw Kevin be kidnapped and abandoned him to a life of torture without so much as telling his mother or another hunter or even the angels who would have had a stake in saving him.

His flashbacks are unbelievably awkward and boring. I'm supposed to care about the trash disposal he fixed while Dean is doing sexually charged battle scenes with Cas and Benny in Purgatory.

He gets together with a woman who accuses him of hitting a dog on purpose and implies that he's a white supremacist.

He tells Amelia he wants to fight for their relationship, but as soon as her ex husband suggests they should let her choose between them, he leaves her in the middle of the night, then after she's moved on, he comes back just to be a homewrecker.

He keeps saying he's going to leave the life as soon as the business with Kevin and the tablet is concluded and Dean needs to "let him go" (???) but also doesn't want Dean to have any friends besides him and demands Dean cut ties with Benny or else (while Dean is telling Sam to go back to Amelia if that's what he wants).

The entirety of "Citizen Fang", from sending a hunter he knows is mentally unstable to "keep an eye" on Benny to going along with Martin beating Dean over the head and chaining him to a radiator to keep him from interfering with the Benny witch hunt to pretending afterward like HE was the victim because Dean sent him a fake text from his ex to prevent Sam from MURDERING SOMEONE. To taking zero accountability for Martin or Elizabeth.

Dean tells Sam that he is suicidal and Sam insists on doing The Trials based on Dean's suicidality and says that he will survive The Trials and renew Dean's hope in living, then within two episodes he pretends that conversation never happened and basically tries to gaslight Dean for the rest of the season into thinking it didn't happen while also getting furious at Dean whenever he gets the slightest feeling that maybe Dean doesn't believe in him.

When Sam is sick, Dean takes care of him, bringing him food, getting his fever down, etc, and is treated like this makes him a piece of shit who doesn't "trust" Sam enough (????). Sam repeatedly projects feelings onto Dean that Dean doesn't even have and ridicules him for thought crimes.

While being furious that maybe Dean doesn't trust Sam more generally to have his back, Sam ignores that he has done everything possible to destroy Dean's trust, from abandoning him, Cas, and Kevin to die and presenting a deeply unfeeling exterior about it, to promising to survive The Trials then almost immediately telling Dean he's going to die and to get over it. He acts entitled to Dean's trust and on top of it, the expectations are one-sided. He is allowed to distrust Dean all day every day but Dean isn't allowed to distrust him ever.

All of this culminates in Sam "confronting" Dean for trusting other people besides Sam, having friends besides Sam who showed more loyalty and care to Dean than Sam has, and telling Dean he's jealous of his other relationships and all but flat out blaming him for the fact that Sam now wants to commit suicide.

In the aftermath he gets mad that Dean convinced him not to commit suicide by telling Sam that he loves him and it's all okay and he's there for him when Sam was literally blaming Dean for his impending suicide. He claims Dean "made him" make the wrong choice because he is incapable of ever taking accountability for anything.

Basically it's the worst things Sam's ever done dialed up to 11 and it doesn't stop the whole season and he is so thoroughly miserable to watch that he's almost unrecognizable to the point I joke about him being a podperson. Also see: #season 8 sam.

For starters, there are way too many similarities between her and Sam for them to just be two random people who met by accident. They both lost someone recently and they’re both running away and they both just happen to be staying at the same motel?

Yeah ok, so she’s staying at the motel because she apparently works at the nearby animal clinic, but as someone who’s had questionable housing situations, not many places consider a motor inn a valid living address when you’re looking for employment. Sure, she probably could’ve gotten a job at a grocery store or a gas station, but as a veterinarian? Not likely. A vet gets paid on average $85k per year and a normal orientation in a new workplace is 2 weeks to a month. You think any sane employer is just gonna sign up a lady who rolled into town and is staying at a motor inn, and might decide to just drive out of town tomorrow? I mean come on.

Also, the dog he hit couldn’t have been a gray hound or a husky or idk, a german shepherd? It had to look like Bones? It’s like Sam pulled that dog out of memory and then just gave him different coloring. And he hit this dog with a 1967 fucking steel box traveling how fast? But this miracle vet lady saved the dog and it was hopping around like 24 hours later with a little cast on its leg?

Never mind the whole thing with the picnic and Amelia sitting on a blanket which is a mirror image of Dean’s fantasy of Lisa.

Like every single part of that story seems like something Sam could’ve dreamed, including Amelia’s disapproving army father who Sam has to spend hours sucking up to. 

And then, her husband just miraculously appears just as Dean has found a way to crawl back out of purgatory?

How about the fact that Sam was not actually connected to the world the entire time he was with her. Sam, who freaked the fuck out because he hit a dog, decided to just completely ignore dozens of phone calls from Kevin? Never even check his messages? Never contact any of the other hunters? Never crack a book to at least try and figure out if Dean was dead or alive? Never attempt to summon any demons or angels for questioning? This Sam?

Pls.

Sam had a mental breakdown. There was no dog. There was no Amelia. It all happened in his head. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

What is there to even say?

I suppose my immediate thoughts are...

I imagined the worst and it was that they a. would leave Portwell without even a moment to put closure on it, see any of it from EJ's point of view, and let them move forward as friends and b. wouldn't resolve EJ's entire plotline this season, we'd never even find out what he does next or what happened with all that

...and shocker, guess what happened (or rather didn't)?

The way they treated portwell...goodness. It's like season two was a fever dream. In the end they just used them to beat a dead horse of "EJ sucks and was such a mistake, YOU'RE so much better and everything he was not" even though we SAW that EJ IS/WAS those things in season two but...again, fever dream, amirite? Sorry but...did the Ricky/Gina pairing need all that to help move it along? That seems like an awful lot. Why so much shit talking of EJ/Portwell? Damn. Just mean and not necessary.

And last but not least, the biggest shocker of this season for me: the way this show has completely turned me against Gina Porter.

I have been RIDE OR MOTHERFUCKING DIE for her since day one moment one of this series. And I spent 99.9% of this season wondering who this podperson version of her is.

Not because she did questionable things. But because there was absolutely no accountability for those things. She's 'the main girl' now, so they've Mary Sue'd her into some flawless can-do-no-wrong version of the character I loved. But that girl? In S3? That's not Gina Porter. In fact, some of us have now dubbed 'Pina Gorter'.

Man oh man, I don't know what this season was but it was not the show I have loved for two seasons. The heart of this show, the root of it, has been missing for me since 3.01. I've hated to admit it, struggled to accept it, but by the time the credits rolled on this finale, it left me with no choice but to face it.

The HSMTMTS that I loved so much is no more.

The Gina Porter I loved so much is no more.

The Portwell that won my heart has been erased in canon as if it never happened.

And the EJ Caswell that shockingly won me over in S2 absolutely deserves better. I will fight for his happiness from beyond the grave. I cannot wrap my head around all they did to him this season, why they felt he deserved any of that, and the fact that they left it all unfinished once it served its purpose of justifying Gina breaking up with him.

They really left him with no friends whatsoever, crying after his father fucking hung up on him when he tried to have a heart to heart. Which doesn't bode well for him being with everyone BUT Val as he navigates this next step of life. Lucky EJ.

Like...Val couldn't swing by Ashlyn or Gina on her way out to be like "EJ really needs a friend right now and I gotta go - get on that, bitches"? It makes so much sense for Ashlyn to be there for him, and is such a great opportunity to move Portwell into friendship post dating for her to be there for him even though things are weird because despite the breakup they DO still care about each other.

Honestly though...this show left things with Portwell as if...I mean, do they care about each other? Like, at all? I don't know that we're meant to believe they do at the end of the day.

I have so so many more thoughts on this finale and season and what on earth this means for what season four will look like for those that continue to watch.

For now all I can say is...

We are in the darkest timeline. Truly.

Speaking of Villains, I have yet to see a Otome Villainess Isekai where the Isekaid Villainess decides to play it straight and take over the place as the villainess.

Aside from, like, "The Holy Grail of Eris," villainesses are always misunderstood moe characters who did no wrong, or are literally replaced by one like a podperson, let the Villainess stay one and let girls become evil queens for once.

Most Otome Villainess Isekais out there have naive and gentle common girls reincarnated as Villainesses, but if boys can get wish fulfilment edgy dark Isekais where they get to become evil overlords with harems of monsters as they take over the world, I don't see why shouldn't girls get similar shit really, let them become evil sorceresses and necromancers without having to rely on dashing princes to achieve victory, let their goal noy be mere survival, let it be conquest, let it be REVOLUTION.

Random Girl gets reincarnated as the Villainess of a Otome game. Her personality and demeanor aren't all that different from the original villainess this time, she's just more subtle about it, so it becomes a political intrigue scenario, or maybe she's a former delinquent/martial artist/criminal, so she's suddenly violent at key moments with strenght to match, or maybe she's disgusted with noble society and slavery and wants to overthrow it all via her power alone, or maybe she's really into researching forbidden magic and has no qualms to use it against people, be as it may, let the Villainess stay a Villainess goddammit, it's been 84 years guys.
