@automatuck9 I cannot speak for beeb, but this is horrifying to me, thank you.
@tallangrycockatiel does this include polyphemous moths with their weird eye wings? I feel like that is an eye in a weird place.
@thepreciousthing I've often said as much, so they are correct. Imagine what I could get done if I had more arms!

OMG FOR THE AUTISM ASKS 12, 42, 50: give me ur best infodump. hand it over.
u activated my trap card [ask meme]
12. Do you headcanon any characters as autistic? If you want, tell us why you headcanon them as autistic.
I headcanon so many characters as autistic, but I'm only going to do two. First, Rey from TFA (I don't remember the other two movies enough to bother with them), mainly bc I really relate to her aversion of being touched without her permission and I feel like her biggest interest is starships so of course she knows everything about them and their parts. The other is Leia--as soon as I read Princess of Alderaan, I immediately thought she was. She has a hard time socializing and knowing what's okay to talk about, social cues, etc. There's other things I'm blanking.
42. Tell us something about your special interest.
right so, it's entomology that i'm super into. and im just going to do a single fact since ur question 50 is just to infodump about it. there's a family of beetles (histeridae) that is referred to as clown beetles (there's also a clown weevil). they have short elytra.
50. Free question. Ask anything you want! Any topic at all! [aka; best infodump]
i'm just gonna infodump about my favorite insects in my collection or what i want to have bc theyre my absolute favorites (since entomology is a big thing with a lot of stuff in it).
so, my favorite moth is spilosoma lubricipeda, the white ermine moth. its a day-flying moth, characterized by its orange abdomen and white wings with black dots. they are poisonous. they have long antennae branches. and theyre found in europe and asia (they have a few sibling species in china) my favorite type of bee is the blue carpenter bee (xylocopa caerula). theyre like, the prettiest color of blue and theyre less aggressive compared to other carpenter bees (and their wings have a pinkish iridescence to them). theyre from southeast asia. this is getting really long so im not gonna go on a big ramble for the others but the two beetles i really like are the javan fiddle beetle and the japanese rhinoceros beetle (i want to get tattoos of both of them). other notable moths are the polyphemes moth, luna moth, and atlas moth.

{ANTHERAEA POLYPHEMOUS}
Photos of some of the Polyphemous moths I’ve raised! I love the subtle bits of pink in their coloration, and the transparent centers of their eye spots.

A moth priestess designed for class.
Loosely based on a Polyphemous Moth, but many features were kept generic in an attempt to keep the design from getting too complicated.
I also did a few supplementary designs as a warm up for this assignment since I’ve been out of commission for a while. Going to share them later this week, since I ended up having a lot of fun with them!

okay I’ve been having a lot of mini-dreams lately
a grotesque, horrifying woodpecker chick that was essentially just an adult woodpecker but without feathers... just watched it peck at a tree for a bit.
found two caterpillars, put them each in their own tank. one of them looked like a monarch caterpillar and it immediately went into its chrysalis, and I was like “should be in their for about a week” and then it came out right away (like w/i 45 dream-minutes) and it was a polyphemous moth. I went to go look up what they eat, and when I checked on the other tank along the way, the caterpillar in there had chrysalis-ed and turned into... a little brownish-red bird? and was trying to eat our gecko.
also I woke up from this one, looked over, and thought that the lamp I recently moved to my bedroom was an old man leaning over me... Not Good
my adviser told me to write an abstract for something. not interesting except it was so vivid that I had to ask him about it next time I saw him.
my new glasses came and my roommate told me they looked terrible.
a group of us grad students were trying to study plants for a big exam, but I lost the notes. somebody said she thought she saw them in the weird office on the far side of the building, and it was usually unlocked... but this time it wasn’t, so we broke in and didn’t even find the notes.
I was sitting in a chair, and my Grandma was sitting across from me, but really close. Her hair was longer than I’ve ever seen it, and she was urgently telling me important things. I wish I remembered any of them.
I was in some kind of group therapy setting with my roommate and a couple other people, led by my actual therapist. She brought something up and I started crying and my roommate kept trying to get me to tell him what was wrong, but I couldn’t say anything.
A friend from home was at NDSU for some reason, and also this other woman we went to high school with, and they were complaining about student loan debt. The rando was saying how she can’t go back to school because it costs $500 an hour. I was like “oh that sucks, my master’s is free...”
There was another one with that same friend from high school, but I don’t recall the details.
These are built up from like, a good while. There are others that I’ve forgotten to write down.

{ANTHERAEA POLYPHEMOUS} • Cocoon, Adult Male, Adult Female.
This was one of the first pinning projects to come of my moth-rearing hobby; the species shown is Antheraea polyphemus, commonly known as the Polyphemus moth.
The female’s extreme deterioration resulted from a combination of natural damage from living out a full life span, careless storage after death, and waiting too long before pinning; the specimen had become very brittle by the time I got around to it, and many pieces snapped off in the process. Rather than throw her away, I figured it would still make for an interesting display, especially next to another in better condition!

POLYPHEMOUS MOTH CATERPILLAR
You may remember this huge moth, which I emailed recently. Well I found the larva. This occurred at Skunk's Misery on the same day that the walking stick found me. I thought they would make an odd couple.
