i was big into emo growing up, so i figured i'd make this playlist for anyone interested in checking out the genre. it runs from more accessible/light to more aggressive/heavy.

this is specifically the 80s/90s brand of emo e.g. city of caterpillar, cap'n jazz, moss icon etc.

I’m increasingly going backwards in my listening. Particularly when it comes to a never-ending love for dozens of punk/hardcore bands from the ‘90s. I don’t know if the Portraits of Past full-length is listened to very much by very many different people, but i do think it’s a classic that deserves love.. This song though is from an earlier single and was pretty different, and i love/d it simply as a song but also, in tracing things backwards, it is a good example of the thru points between bro hardcore and heart-on-sleeve hardcore. i love it.

alright so Crassus is a weird guy, existentially. There’s a tendency to speculate, assign, and insert him into whatever places are conspiratorial and shadowy because he fits into those narrative places with ease. My personal favorite (aside from all of it) is the idea that he may have pulled strings wrt to Sulla and Caesar’s conflict to help get Caesar out of it.

In the universe that exists in my head, he definitely had a hand in it, but he didn’t really intend for Caesar to figure out he played a part in it, but Caesar’s good at puzzles, and noticing someone goes both ways. Binding someone to yourself goes both ways.
